Small or Far Away – Father Dougal on Cows

Hi Everybody!

So, lots of excitement. I have no idea how to handle it all, because we are sort of short on real data. My gut says to stick to the basics. Buy low, sell high, and pay attention to the Rule of Three. Try to have lots of playing players for the byes. Job security good, as is good health.

My plan over the busy times is to try and get numbers up between rounds. If things go well there may be text with them. The window for getting numbers done is sadly short. I may end up doing a rolling update, with the players who play sooner being posted before the ones who play let. But, hoping to avoid that.

This week’s commentary is again brought to you by the Cow Talk Advisory Panel.

I’m the hamster and I am afraid a lot

I’m the Imaginary Interlocutor and go with my feelings

And I’m me, and I try to make productive use of thinking. Emphasis on the “try”.

Defenders

Starcevich: I’m afraid he will lose even more money. I’m also afraid I’ll need him to avoid a donut when the fixtures get dodgy but he will lose his job! I’m still pissed off at him!  I’m thinking he is best 22 and I can’t really think about trading him out no matter what happens to his price.

Noble: I’m afraid he will be right back out this week! I’m hoping he keeps his job, because that would be so useful!  I wish I knewif he was best 22. Could go if not, needed if he is?

Brander: Did not play

Young: Did not play

Hill: I’m afraid he will mostly score 50s! I’m hopful he’ll come good. I’m thinking he is best 22 and I can’t really think about trading him out no matter what he does. Sigh.

Midfielders

Brown: Did not play

Pickett:

Last week: “I’m afraid he will be dropped again and take too long to make more money. I’m still in love with him after his debut and hate giving up on him.  I think he is worth holding until he ends up making enough money to make spending a trade worthwhile.”

This week:  I’m not that afraid right now, but I do worry something bad will happen. I’m still in love with him and he can keep it up, I just know it!.  I think the rule of three says he stays two more playing rounds. And he could do another big score and make more but even if he does not, his peak and a hopeful Neale low may meet in the middle.

Mcinerney: Did not play

Hayden: I’m still afraid he is done making money and hasn’t made enough to be worth culling. I’m ..agreeing with you. Yeah, same as last week, it’s hard to do much with him. Seems to be playing though.

Serong: I’m afraid even Fyfe being out isn’t enough for him to score well.  I’m hoping he’ll do better. Seems a big blahness. Not looking like much cash incoming, but one ton helps with that.

Rucks

Pittonet

Last week: “I’m afraid he will never make his BE again! I keep hoping he’ll score another 130+ if he just faces the right match up.  I feel like even if he loses a little money this round there are still more important trades to make.”

This week: I’m afraid of ever putting him on the field again! I….thank him for the money, I guess…..  I said a little money! Little! Who scores at 32, honestly. So needs to go out. Probably score that 130 as soon as traded, but ha ha getting him out anyways.

Forwards

Budarick: I’m afraid he will putter along, playing and scoring 40-45 and just being blah. I’m hoping he will putter along, playing and scoring 40-45 and just being blah.  I’m pretty sure his having a job and a Fwd/Mid swing is more important than getting cash from him. Someday he’ll put up a money score.

King: I’m worried….that everything seems fine with him  I’m so happy his job is secure. I’m sad he did not go big v the Crows, but he is who he is. He has topped out and his price will wander around based on his weekly scores. In the before times he would be a sell now. Currently he is a hold ‘cause he plays.

Taylor: I’m afraid because he is likely to lose some money this week.  I’m hoping he keeps up the 70s  I’m thinking he is another secure job, but he could go this week, not next week, but then again the week after when that 13 stops affecting him.

Vandermeer: No real change from last week  I’m afraid the people who got him in have a big edge on those of us who didn’t! And I am right!  I’m pissed it is too late to bring him in. I’m both of those. .

Dodgy Advice

This was sort of covered above, but I am thinking it might be a good idea to hold onto as many playing players as you can, even if that means maybe missing on some cash. But, just in case that is good advice…..

If you have a Fwd/Ruck swing loophole guy, Paddy Ryder might be useful as ruck backup…….

  1. Hey FD thanks for the info! Can you edit in Taylors table (accidentally have Budaricks twice). Thanks.

  2. Love it FD! Always great to read every week. Any insight into which of the 4 rookies are least likely to get a game over the next wild few weeks?? One of my trades will be getting rid of one of them.
    T/U: McInerney
    T/D: Green

  3. Thanks FD! Thoughts on the EGG as a cow-like object, allowing me to move the bad smell that Starcevich is to D7?

  4. Many thanks Father Dougal.
Each week I wait for this wisdom before I decide what cows should be moved on.
This week I can get rid of 2 who are not getting a game T.Brown and T.Rivers for B.Smith and possibly S.Simpson.

    1. Solid. Lot of injuries to the Roos. With Hayden likely to be ruled out with concussion, McKay can slot into his spot.
