Defenders
Lachie Ash – 509.4k, (-73.6k), 104 AVG, 94 BE
We’ve seen the Giants surge in the second half of the season the last 3 seasons after middling starts and it looks like it might happen again judging by their last couple of outings, both smashing wins. Coming off a bye, Ash looks like a decent option in defence despite his role changes. After a few weeks in the midfield he’s had 0 CBA’s in their last 2 wins. If the Giants keep winning, he should stay in the backline and provide more of the form we’ve seen previously. He can butcher it sometimes, but his relentless run and carry usually means a decent floor and a good value pick this week.
Max Holmes – 555.1k, (-44.9k), 115 AVG, 133 BE
Holmes remains reasonably priced after gaining defender status, so he’s here again. He’ll be a clear top 3 defender for the year and has a good looking matchup at home this week to potentially drive his price back upwards. Only concern here is that upcoming bye in Round 16, which a lot of popular players share, so keep an eye out for that, otherwise lock him in.
Incoming Price Drops
Lachie Whitfield – 549.1k, 163 BE
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera – 563.2k, 140 BE
Midfielders
Ed Richards – 553.5k, (-48.8k), 108 AVG, 96 BE
Richards has put together 3 tons on the trot as those injury niggles seem to be bothering him less recently. He should be a consistent scorer for the rest of the year and usually doesn’t cop tags. He also has the Round 16 bye though, so check that you’ve got enough cover before scouting him out.
Finn Callaghan – 494.6k, (-110.9k), 102 AVG, 51 BE
Reckon Finn is probably the buy of the week coming off his bye. Like Ash, he could well benefit from the Giants making a second half finals push and dramatically improve his early season form. He is prone to a shocker here or there as he hasn’t quite mastered the tag, but at this price point with his talent, he could easily average 115+ from here on out. I’d pull the trigger if you need a mid.
Incoming Price Drops
Zak Butters – 612.7k, 171 BE
Bailey Smith – 615.9k, 147 BE
Zach Merrett – 540.2k, 138 BE
Rucks
Tim English – 513.8k, (-87.1k), 105 AVG, 102 BE
English keeps humming with low tons, not much to add from last week. He should stay pretty solid around this mark, but has the capability to go larger if their bye freshens him up. That last bye is annoying though, so if you can afford to wait for either Jackson off his bye or Xerri off a price drop next week, I’d probably lean that way.
Incoming Price Drops
Brodie Grundy – 667.6k, 219 BE
Tristan Xerri – 570.8k, 188 BE
Forwards
Touk Miller – 470.2k, (-115.8k), 97 AVG, 92 BE
Jason Horne-Francis – 461k, (-50.2k), 94 AVG, 32 BE
Both Miller and JHF have featured heavily here recently so I’ll throw them together. With the carnage in the forward line and respective tons on the weekend, having these guys to cover the rest of the byes and hopefully stay around the 90 mark looks pretty valuable. Get whichever you don’t have as they’re also still pretty cheap. Sanders remains in good form and Ross is coming off his bye if you have some more cash and want a slightly better formline. Up to personal preference here.
Kysaiah Pickett – 449.8k, (-45.1k), 97 AVG, 98 BE
Same story as a lot of the guys in this segment this week, Pickett has that pesky last bye in Round 16. If you don’t mind that though, he shapes as a decent option. Managed to still get to 100 through a solid Ed Allan tag and has a delicious looking matchup with the Bombers this week. Very cheap and good value, but just be prepared to swallow a 60 from time to time.
Incoming Price Drops
Jeremy Cameron – 436.4k, 168 BE
Been planning on the Flying Finn for a couple of weeks now, but as I dig deeper into the stats and the next games, i’m nervous about Marcus Windhager spoiling the party.
Recent history shows he struggles against his next three oppo, Saints, Carlton and Hawks with only one base ton in his last six. Food for thought???
