R6, 2017, Adelaide 21.14 (140) d Richmond 10.4 (64) at Adelaide Oval
R3, 2016, Adelaide 19.14 (128) d Richmond 13.14 (92) at Etihad Stadium
R19, 2015, Adelaide 11.22 (88) d Richmond 8.4 (52) at Adelaide Oval
R21, 2014, Richmond 10.19 (79) d Adelaide 9.15 (69) at Adelaide Oval

Game notes:

This was already a huge game for Adelaide given its disappointing performance in last year’s Grand Final, but takes on extra significance after the round one loss to Essendon. The Crows don’t want to start the season 0-2, especially after seeing 2016 runners-up Sydney lose their first six games to start last year. Missing skipper Taylor Walker, forward Tom Lynch, midfielder Brad Crouch and recruit Sam Gibson, the Crows led the Bombers by 20 points at three-quarter time before being overrun in the last term. Playing in front of a parochial home crowd of more than 50,000 will be a welcome boost. The Tigers were pushed more than anyone expected by a gallant Carlton in the season opener before winning by 26 points. Their small forward line looks potent once again and Dustin Martin carried on his Brownlow Medal-winning form of last year. The Crows need to prove they’ve learned from the mistakes they made on Grand Final day.

Thommo’s Tip: Richmond by 10 points

  3. Well. Its about at this stage that i’m regretting not picking dusty and taking the risk on danger.

Danger goes big but i think i might have shot myself in the foot …….

  4. Well, didn’t I think I was smart to go Dusty down to Zorko so I could afford Witts to Kruzer.

A real Aristotle move right there.

        1. Via some DPPS, might have Sicily or someone you can swing and choose if you want a DEF or FWD rookie on field.

  6. At this rate, looks like Olango will be captain again in R2 😉

Come on Dusty, 150 would be sensational to kick off the Easter break!

  8. I think Bruce just mentioned Crouch with a ‘4 week’ hammy.

Will be an astute downgrade in about 5 or 6 rounds if the cows have moo’d……

  9. Think if Ellis doesnt pull something magical late this game he might have to make way his price is going to plummet

      1. Just realised Lambert is a Fwd/Mid. I had no idea.

Alas, I have no DPP’s in the MID which is entirely my mistake. So I’ll have to find another forward to swap him to.

    1. Should have been 38-14. Richmond the new Hawthorn. Plenty of high bumps, push in backs and throws they got away with

    1. It’s not that big of a call, but a very good one. He’d be on at least 4 votes, possibly even 6 if the umps see it that way!

        1. If where being honest here no way in hell should dusty have 40 more points than laird! Laird was by far the better player tonight.

Supercoach scoring confuses me every single year. Comparing to AFL Fantasy (laird 141, dusty 127) seems way more realistic to the game i watched tonight. Is that just me though?

          1. Laird played well but a lot of his ball is uncontested, 34 possessions out of 42 were uncontested to be exact. On top of that he had 9 clangers despite a 73.8% disposal efficiency. You’ll find his 7 inside 50s, 8 rebound 50s, 1 score assist and 3 clearances avoided an even lower score with that many clangers.

In comparison, Dusty had 14/25 contested possessions, 7 clearances, 7 tackles and 5 goals, statistics that are weighted very heavily in Supercoach. He did have 4 clangers preventing an even higher score.

This is just how Supercoach works and why inside players who kick goals are great to select ahead of wingmen and mids who don’t kick goals. I find it best to treat AFL Fantasy and Supercoach as completely different games when selecting a team and checking scores.

    1. This kid is a bloody legend. It’s early days, but he could potentially be a keeper if he can keep this up.

  11. Ellis-Yolmen could be worth a look at his price, particularly if Crouch is going to be absent for a month or so.

  12. 503pts/ 4 players/ dusty vc loophole, so make that 663.
Thanks Nank, Laird & Doodee also.

Good start, so it’s a sure bet that it will end badly.
