Just another blunder by the umpires, Jodie. The AFL and Laura Kane will somehow find a way to still tick it off though.
The technicality will be; the umpire didn’t/ hasn’t called play on ….. so it wasn’t.
The review board will find something like, : a, he was unable to call play on as he was blowing his whistle to end the quarter, or : b, he missed the call being unsighted from the angle he was standing………
It is explained by stating there is no current rule set in the AFL.
The umpire is now only required to blow the whistle when they want to
