Game Chat – Carlton v Port Adelaide

Written by Thommo on July 19 2020

Where and when: GABBA, Saturday 19th July at 1:05pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 2, 2019: Port 13.10 (88) def Carlton 11.6 (72) at Adelaide Oval

What it means for Port Adelaide: It’s pretty simple: The Power just need to continue chalking up wins before they head home.

What it means for Carlton: Belief! I hate the word but it’s true. If the Blues can win difficult matches like this consistently, they might start to believe they belong in the top 8.

Thommo Watch: As a Houston owner, I’ll be praying the resurgence continues.

Mottsy’s Tip: Port by 6 points.

  1. Thank heavens Cripps was playing, realized after the Lions-Giants game had started that I hadn’t selected Starcevich as my only playing bench player as emergency. His 51 is better than a donut so hoping for no late changes for my remaining mid of Oliver.

  2. Rozee on the bench with what looks like an ankle injury. Still in 9% of teams, so hope you don’t have him

  3. So happy to have Doherty, Williamson, Pittonet and Pet-Seton on the field. Should drop another 10000 places this round. Stinking it up big time.

    1. Having Doc won’t really cost you much as he is in 60% of teams. Real frustrating to see he isnt getting the scores we want. He’s also only spent 70% TOG which is the equal 2nd least TOG of any Carlton player

  4. Looping Williamson & Starc at D6 isn’t really working out. Might have to skip B.Smith this week and look at Daniel.

  5. Sam Mayes 86 @ 3qt, 214k Mid, could be worth a downgrade depending on job security, seems to have a reasonably friendly supercoach role on the wing

  6. Burton out for the day with what looks like soft tissue injury in the the upper leg. Wonder if that effects Houston?

    1. Was thinking the exact same thing, Round 2 against Gawn as well. Was obviously a miracle Lol

    2. Pittonet : Only 3 disposals in open play and 20 hit outs. That’s poor when you are in the middle and around every restart

  7. Doc with a decent 2nd half giving a respectable score, glad that happened.
Shame Port won that, I bet Motts is fuming after losing due to a shot after the final siren

  8. Wow Pitto, just Wow.
With the glut of high scores ruckmen are getting, I thought you could at least knock out a 70 or 80. That hurts my plan of him to Gawn this week, but may just mean I sacrifice a second upgrade.

As for Robbie Gray, that man has ice in his veins. Ridiculous.
