  2. I can appreciate the round that they are playing and the history of it but gotta be honest I’m kinda getting sick of constantly being welcomed to my own country……just my opinion , not trying to start a debate. Good luck all

    1. Not alone there as I get it for every class at uni each week. I understand the importance/relevance but it just becomes too much at times.

  3. Going to be some absolutely spent players after this game. 30 degree match with high humidity. No wonder many were rested

    1. The humidity is crazy up in the far north. I lived there, working in those temps was draining, sport too

  5. Mac Andrew subbed at half-time with what appears to be a calf issue after a big collision on field in the 2nd term

  6. Gold Coast. Wow. This is what they’ve lacked: strength against Top 8 sides.

Even if they’re getting the Cats at a good time, a top notch performance.

Competition so even right now. Loving the footy. Papers over my disaster of an SC side.

    1. GCS looking very good but they are a fit young side and clearly handling the conditions alot better than Geelong, They’ve been up there for a fortnight now and aclimatised. Then geelong have left Cameron, Hawkins, Duncan an Stanley at home and TDK a late out is what’s making this game so one sided. Alot of experience left back in Vic.

But Dimma knew what he was doing when he went up there.. he has a seriously talented list on his hands!

  7. I’m not sure who would really get dropped from this team after so many players were rested this week for the Suns. They’ve played so well it’s hard to drop any

    1. Agree.
I was holding Graham thinking he’d walk back in when they get home but I don’t see how he breaks back in in the immediate future. Might need to trade now instead of howes.

  8. Does anyone actually rate Geelong? They haven’t beaten anyone decent this year besides Carlton (who let’s face it, beat themselves in that match), and they have only convincingly beaten Saints, Hawks, and North….
Am I missing something about Geelong other than media-based love and hype?

    1. It’s difficult to say JET. You don’t win 7 games in a row being a bad team.

I will say this, it was a TOUGH month. Started in Brisbane, beat them then beat Carlton. Lost first game to Melbourne, dropped off a lot against Port but rallied, and GC got the Cats and an opportune time with missing forwards and playing in forking Darwin.

Giants at Geelong will be a hard game. I personally hope they bounce back, but no certainty. I would like to see Conway, Bruhn and Bowes start every game in the middle from now on. Pump games into them, as they’re quality. It could happen that by round 18-19 they’ve worked out what to do, have a game plan behind them and are destroying it.

From what I saw today, slingshot footy works if you have the players in front of you. I like Ollie Henry, but gees he’s a daft footballer. Bombing long to no one… Uff.

Shannon Neale is going to be a gun. At least as good as a King brother, if not better.

Still happy to be 7-3, but it could be better. Only need another 6 wins to make finals. It’s a rebuild on the run, but as I said earlier, if the young midfield get to work, could come home with a wet sail.

Long answer to a troll question.

Beat North by 75 point btw. That would seem convincing. True, didn’t blow the others away, but teams trying to regenerate often have lapses in concentration which allows for a kick on by the opposing team. I’m sure the coaches are working on it!

  9. Matt Rowell: 35 disposals (16 kicks), 13 contested and 8 clearances, 10 tackles, a goal, 68% efficiency…only for 128 SC? Seems short changed.

Soligo against Port in the showdown: 28 disposals (14 kicks), 15 contested and 6 clearances, 10 tackles, 71% efficiency….146 SC.

Food for thought. Rowell must’ve had a lot more useless, go-nowhere do nothing type possessions to score that low relative to statistical output.

    1. 3300 points are allocated to every game. With so many standout players points have to be scaled accordingly. Many players scored a lot lower in this game compared to the average score with the same stats were in another game.

      1. That’s true. At one stage it seemed like the entire Suns midfield and half back crew were going to end up with 40+ possessions.

        1. Still, having watched the game pretty closely, Rowell did a massive amount of the “heavy lifting” – and IO this was a 140 to 150 SC point game

He won a heap of contested footy, he was generally really clean with his disposals this week – putting the GC runners into space with handball, and even hitting targets lace out in the forward 50

          Plus a snagger roll 🙂

Thought he was outstanding last night, and was a bit surprised to see he had “only” scored 128 points

  10. Clohessy on field, Sexton sub but no way of getting his score. sigh … Only upside is my opponent did the same and did sub Sexton.
