Game Chat – Hawthorn v Essendon

Written by Thommo on June 27 2015

Essendon are barely going and are probably too far back to make finals but they detest Hawthorn and would love to beat the premiers twice in the same season. They have promised renewed energy after their bye and will want to start fast as they did in Round 2 when the teams last met.

Hawthorn are yet to find their best form and seem to think punching the opposition will help rediscover that form. Sydney’s loss last night gives the Hawks a surprise chance to close the gap so they will be desperate to win today.

Prediction: Expect fines, lots of fines.

Thommo’s tip: Hawthorn by 36 points.

  1. Hi Everybody!

    This is a bit early, but I am on painkillers and may not be awake later on.

    I have been thinking all week about trading:

    T Walker & R Tarrant –> Sloane and Steele.

    This does not get me an extra guy this week, but I think Steele is the best rookie available and if I bring in someone else this week I won’t have someone to trade for him later. Walker is killing me to the point where I think he just has to be replaced by a premium. Getting Slone in my MF means I will have full premos in defense, rusk, and forwards, and need just one more in the MF.

    Any thoughts about this? I’d love to hear what you all think, especially those without chemically altered thinking! 🙂

    T/U do it
    T/D no, don’t (and please let me know why not)

  2. Off topic from this match, but It looks tempting in going someone like Lever or DMac – B. Smith which would pretty much complete the rest of my Defence and my whole squad in terms of upgrades, but ultimately is it worth waiting a bit longer with B.Smith? Just that his last 2 games his disposal tallies are back up on the rise (20+ in his last 2 v the Hawks and the Blues), and that once his DE% is better, he’ll be knocking out the big scores again.

    If I waited on B.Smith, it would mean I’d have to be playing rookie loophole with the likes of A.Pearce/Hamling/Lever for the next few weeks possibly which could really be dangerous for my team’s scoring potential.

    Thoughts?

    T/U – Get Smith in , finish off Backline
    T/D – Continue to watch B.Smith for a few more Rounds

  3. Typical of channel 7 here in Brisvegas … not televising the Bombers – Hawks game. We get the matches on subsidiary channel here, 73 … and instead of quality aussie sport, we get to watch gator boy, turtleman and swamp people … just great. Oh, we do get the Lions match later, but that won’t be quality and I’ve been a Bombers boy since I was 7 (loved the colours back then … hate the Hawks now!!!)

    How do we complain to channel 7?????

    Go the bombers!! Hird, you suck for putting Kavanagh on the subs bench … aaaargrrghggh bad enough after last night as it is!!

  4. Hi Guys and Girls – thoughts please…

    Confirmed – Stevie J -> Sloane (too much Forward time)

    Thinking:
    Tarrant -> Steele
    Lumumba -> Picken (big POD)

    ranked 4kish and note every year top teams are very similar so like Pickens midfield time and being off the leash (should that be letting go of the leash!?)

    TU – go you POD thing
    TD – go with everyone else and grab Brodie banking heaps!!

    Thanks all in advance
