  1. Great place for a massive thank you for all those who run and contribute to this site. It’s such a valuable source of information, insight and debate and I (and many others I’m sure), really appreciate the time and effort put into it.

Looking forward to season 2024, however please promise to thumbs down me if I ever bring Jake Stringer up as an option again (ranked 2311 this season, what could’ve been!).

    Go the Blues!

  2. All Australian 44 man squad named.
No Taranto in the team, but De Goey was playing 18 games

Do you think that is a fair decision to not include Taranto?
Averaged 29 disposals a game, but went at 60% DE and 43% kick efficiency.
    Scored 19 goals as well.

Most think Kane Cornes was on the panel

      1. Nick Blakey a well deserved inclusion in the 44. Seriously underrated as a player. Thankfully he’s signed with my Swans till 2030. Future superstar.

    2. Hey Nato. The thing that gets missed with Taranto is the way CD score him. Prestia probably suffers the same fate and Cotch did for a long time too. With that Richmond game style there are two or three players whose job is to get the contested ball and get it forward in chaos mode. It’s the job of Bolton and Martin to win that ground ball and either hit the tall forward or finish the move! Cd score him based on their metrics but they don’t apply to the tigers! He fills his role and well, just needs to be better when he goes forward.

  3. What do you think about speculation that Brodie Grundy may find his way to Port Adelaide?
He is contracted for four more seasons at Melbourne with Collingwood supplementing his salary.

What should Melbourne do about their rucks?

    1. Find it difficult for how I would go about this due to him having 4 years still on his contract.
He needs to be traded for his sake, but how much does that affect Melbourne in costs? Almost looks set to play VFL unless he can become something like Blicavs and play around the ground

    2. I wouldn’t trade for him at all…. Something has changed with rucks (don’t know what) but there is only room on field for one ruck. The simple fact is that when Grundy is the main ruck his teams aren’t as effective. And lose games. If I was Port I’d be trying to get Pruess/Flynn from gws or Reidy from Freo. Gives you a year with the spud that is Lycett and then go with the future…. Also why would you help a team in flag contention with a salary cap squeeze.

  4. Any truth to the rumour that Essendon’s coaching staff, and 22 players, are seriously considering early retirementf?

  5. Hey guys, just wondering if this email address is legit from SC support@virtualsports.com.au?

It’s for finishing inside the top 1011 teams apparently win some stuff? They need my phone number & address which is what makes me question it’s legitimate.

    Anyone confirm it’s real.

  7. Anyone going near Oliver next year after all the speculation around his time away from the game and the “medical episode” that landed him in hospital?

    1. Yes, still planning on. Scored well when he came back and season is still 6 months away to get over the speculation. Hopefully his medical issue isn’t too bad.

    2. I messed up this year by going too many 600k MIDs.

Going to limit myself to Gulden and whoever has the best fixture to start and that’s it.

Think we’ll be forced to fill out our backlines again.

  8. Anyone keen on NBA Dream Team-Sportsdeck. League 188667 needs filling, 4 spots left. Starts in a couple of days

  9. AFL trying to introduce a round Zero with 4 games before the Richmond Carlton opening game.
This wouldn’t look good for Supercoach and it really seems to ruin the tradition of the opening weekend

  10. When will the AFL stop screwing around with the best sports competition?

What’s next, having someone from every colour, race, religion etc in every
    Team.

The League is going to the Dogs.

  11. The 4 game opening round goes ahead and looks to ruin Supercoach. What AFL fans ever wanted this concept????

    1. Trying to think of what options the SC competition can take here

      1. They can have best 12-18 for opening round and unlimited trades for round 1. Opening round is almost a bit of a free hit.
      2. Don’t count opening round at all
      3. Have the scores from opening round count in the round that those teams have their bye

Personally, I like option 1. It’s probably the cleanest. No matter how you do it, players from opening round will have their price changes earlier, even if they went option 2

      1. Hi Phil.

My take on what may happen with SC 2024.

Unless they spend a heap of cash on updating the site the likey outcome is they ignore the opening round and start the SC season round 1. This will give most casual SC players the best chance to start the season with all 18 clubs playing and get the most involvement.

This is obviously not ideal for hard core Sc players but it may just be the easiest outcome.

Things to consider are price changes. I think they will continue to change all prices in round 3. The teams that play round 0 will most likey still have their scores factored into their initial price chances as their prices wont change when they get their early Byes.

Rounds 2/3/5and 6 will all see 2 teams missing as they play round 0. It remains to be seen if we play best 18 these rounds or wether they decide on best 20 or even make us just where best 22.

I’m sure there’s a heap of diffusion around these issues currently going on at SC HQ. It will ultimately come down to how much they’re willing to spend on altering the website to accommodate the changes.

Stay tuned as I will endeavour to up date you all when the decisions are made. Either way its going to make for some interesting strategies heading in to next year.

  12. Ahhhh thank you!!! I knew I could come to this site with my fellow SuperCoach brothers & sisters and join in the outrage that is the 2024 fixture……… I mean really? Surely the AFL coming off its best and most profitable season yet doesn’t need to try to poach more viewers and fans?!?! Will be an interesting start trying to choose teams. Thanks Andrew Dillon.

  13. The AFL doesn’t give a Rats about the everyday fan, it’s only money and trying to compete with Valandy and his NRL (NSW Rugby League)

Get back to the Grass Roots and stop stuffing about with the best game, they have no regard for SC.

    1. Gilly, stop saying such sensible things !!! As you say, no one at AFL HQ plays SC…dont they realise the number of people that hang on every AFL game day moment ??

  14. Now that the trade period, AFL draft etc has been done and dusted we now wait for the 2024 Team Picker (for SC Gold or HS subscribers) to be released.

From memory it is roughly either the first week of December or the week before Xmas.

    What are other peoples thoughts…..

      1. Hey Willy I just posted a Positonal change article, outlining most of the changes likey to occur next year. Hope you like it !

  15. Ok, so hear me out for a second.
As per usual the fwd line sucks.
Macrae is a question mark, re value.(but at his price is easily correctable if not starting him).
    Rookies are rookies.
So, I’m proposing a KPF fwd line this season to get things started.
    But… there all cheap.
-Sure they will put up putrid scores but so will rookies.
-They are best 22(most likely) so great JS.
-Can go LARGE, which is what I’m chasing. a big spike game to flip them.
-Numerous enough to get cover for them if needed.
-Can, I think go 7 deep(loop the toughest match up).

-Wright, King x2, Amarty, Amiss, Lynch, Cadman and others.

This idea is ONLY to ignore the fwd line till other lines are settled.

But a couple of 150+ games early on could really get your bank going. You know they will go on a hot streak at some point and be able to jump off as soon as it finishes. A clear exit for them no holding for one more good game.

If they don’t get that hot streak, still cheap enough to make some money. And if they don’t they would only be a popular rookie bust anyway.

    GL all.
