Early prognosis

Captain Walker and vice-captain Sloane will have to complete Wednesday’s main training session to be given the green light for Friday night’s blockbuster with Sydney at Adelaide Oval. Midfielder Hampton is set to play his first game in three months after ankle surgery. He’ll play in the SANFL if passed fit, along with key defender Hartigan, who has been sidelined for two weeks after a recurrence of a hamstring injury. – Lee Gaskin

There’s no timeline yet on McCartin, who is training and feeling good but has not quite shaken off his concussion.  Billings copped a poke to his left eye against Melbourne last Sunday but isn’t in any doubt, while Riewoldt is expected to return. Stevens faces a test later in the week after he was concussed against the Dees. Freeman is unlikely to play again this season, considering a finals berth seems out of reach for Sandringham. Rice would be pushing it to make it back this weekend. – Dinny Navaratnam

  1. Bad News for Neale owners as he is listed on Freos updated injury list as 1 week. I read Lyon said he was sore and should not have played against the Swans.
    Lyon hopes the weeks rest will help him and that he might play the last game.

  2. Lyon was just on channel 7 news over here in Perth.

    He said that Lachie Neale would miss this week – but was still a chance to play in the last round.

    Given that it is FURL, take that with a pinch of salt – but sounds like Neale won’t be named this week.
