  1. Gold Coast: Jed Walter has been suspended for two games for striking Frankston’s Sebastian Quirk in the third quarter of Saturday’s VFL Wildcard Round match.

    The incident was assessed by the VFL match review panel and graded as intentional conduct with low impact and high contact for a two-match suspension.

    However, the ban can be reduced to a one-game sanction with an early guilty plea.

  2. Carlton: Matt Owies suspended for one game after his dangerous tackle on St Kilda’s Jack Higgins.

    Match Review Officer graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

  3. Western Bulldogs: Liam Jones has been cleared to play in the elimination final against Hawthorn.

    He was fined $3750 reduced to $2500 with an early plea for his dangerous tackle on Greater Western Sydney’s Aaron Cadman.

    The incident has been graded as low impact by the Match Review Officer, rather than medium impact, which means the Dogs defender has copped a fine instead of a suspension.

  4. Match review: Fremantle and Port Adelaide.

    Fremantle’s Nathan O’Driscoll and Port Adelaide’s Jason Horne-Francis can accept $1250 fines with early guilty pleas for careless contact with an umpire.

    Fremantle’s Sam Switkowski and Liam Reidy can accept $2500 fines for charges of tripping and rough conduct respectively.

  7. Richmond: Daniel Rioli has reaffirmed his desire to seek a trade to Gold Coast. He wants to play for the Suns next year and has made that request official in his exit meeting today.

  8. The West Coast Eagles confirm key defender Tom Barrass has today informed the club of his request for a trade.

    Barrass submitted his request during today’s exit meeting and nominated Hawthorn as his preferred destination.

    The 28-year-old has played 150 games since being drafted by West Coast with pick 43 in 2013, is a John Worsfold medallist (2022), All-Australian squad member and 2018 premiership player.

    “Tom has today informed us of his desire to pursue an opportunity at another club,” General Manager Football Gavin Bell said.

    “While the club respects Tom’s request, he is contracted for another three seasons and our vice-captain.

    “We will endeavour to meet Tom’s request while protecting the best interests of the West Coast Eagles.”

    The 2024 Trade Period commences on October 7.

  10. Gold Coast: Jack Lukosius

    It is reported that Lukosius was told by Gold Coast in his exit interview that he would be allowed to push for a trade this year if he can find a suitable landing spot.

    SA is the likely destination for Lukosius.

  11. Fremantle: Hayden Young has suffered a small fracture to his fibula.

    The injury isn’t considered serious – he’d miss 2-3 weeks if the injury happened in-season, and isn’t expected to interrupt his pre-season.

    No need for surgery.

    Ross indicated that he wants to continue his career at another club.

    Jeremy Finlayson has signed a contract extension until 2025.

  16. Hawthorn: Jaime Uhr-Henry a former basketballer will join Hawthorn’s AFL list in 2025 as a Category B rookie.

    The 21-year-old was a member of the Bulleen Boomers and the Dandenong Ranges in NBL One.

    Uhr-Henry has spent some time training with Sam Mitchell’s squad at Waverley Park in recent weeks and grew up as a Hawthorn supporter.

    The 209cm is a project ruck who played some junior football for East Ringwood in the Eastern Football League, but focused predominantly on basketball.

  17. Melbourne: Kysaiah Pickett has told Melbourne officials if he is to be traded, his preference is WA & not SA. This places West Coast, where cousin Liam Ryan is a premiership player, at the front of the queue.

    Melbourne is confident that they can retain him.

    “I am not leaving next year.”

    “I am contracted, I wouldn’t have signed the contract if I wasn’t keen on Adelaide and keen on Port Adelaide and I love the place, I love the footy club and the footy club have been good to me.”
