Most Traded – Round 7

Because of the short week I thought I would post this later than normal  to see if the trends changed, given you have three games before the weekend. There does not seem to be any significant departure over the last day or two, so these look like being the ones.

Darcy, obvious, a few rookies nearing the end, and a few more significant players that have worn out their welcomes. Bit surprising to see Clayton Oliver punted just before he fronts up against the Tiges and Weagles in succession. I am holding at least for these two games.

Will Ashcroft and Bailey Humphrey also look like victims of a couple of bad games on the trot. Don’t own Ashcroft but I’d hold given his duel with the Saints who are not that stingy with points to opposition. Humphrey on the other hand, I own, and am wavering given I was bullish on him from the get go and he’s failed dismally in the past few. Could be a straight swap down to a Matt Flynn “flex” for me if I stop wavering.

Most of the rookies named as traded out here are on the limit of their BEs and it is understandable that they be moved on to better your teams. However, I’m hanging onto Zach Reid with a BE of 14, not only to make more money, but also fancy him as valuable back up for a while longer.

As for trade ins, Matt Flynn seems a reasonable risk given he should stay for at least a couple more and make upward of $100k in that time. Ask GD or CT how much of a risk he is. CT wrote in his news column that Bailey Williams was excellent in the WAFL, so does the chop and change attitude that seems to be emerging at West Coast stay in play here. Caveat emptor, I say, despite the quick cash injection.

Matt Carroll is the hot topic here. A BE of -65 sees him projected to make $44k, but his average over the two games will see him make $55k. Again, I throw out word of caution if you are not fully committed to this trade as Lachie Cowan is listed as a test so should not be far away. Does he take this spot back?

Anyway coaches, whichever direction you take, I wish you all the best of luck with the round ahead.

  1. It’s only a couple thousand each way but trading out Satan and Ash is pure lunacy.

Satan has been a flop and I regret starting him BUT you can’t ship him off into Richmond, West Coast and even Hawthorn with no Day or Nash.

Guarantee Ash goes 120+ this week. Saints tag Neale, Ash and Dunks get off the chain.

As for Flynn, we’re all about pressure and integrity at the moment. Biggest case for Flynn is that last Friday was our most competitive and closest performance yet.

He’ll play this week and could see use double teaming Maxxy the next tbh.

If he’d just gone another 80, I wouldn’t bother but the 141’s given him a -73 BE. @ 261k, you’ve gotta jump on. I’d only be doing it at flex or R3 though of course.

    Loving this, Jim. Great stuff.

  2. Thanks to best 18 over early byes and flex last couple of weeks I’ve kept Flynn at R2 (Archer Reid R3). His score made up for Will Ashcroft last weekend. I’ve got Oliver too. Will be holding all of them while I still have volatile rookies onfield, no point trading into Daicos, Bont etc if D6 and M8 score 40s.

  3. Players have their ups and downs. Lots of regrets with people trading Horne Francis, Roberts, etc, one week early then big game comes.
Wonder with Melb possibly turning corner in form, will these next two games kick start Clarrys year?
