North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson fined $20,000 for his ‘highly inappropriate’ comments to St Kilda players.

He has also been hit with a two-game ban, suspended until the end of the 2025 season, that will be immediately activated if he is again found guilty of conduct unbecoming in that time.

Clarkson must also attend Pride in Sport training as approved by the AFL. His fine will not be included in North Melbourne’s football department soft cap.

THURSDAY

Sydney’s Justin McInerney has been fined $3,750 (early plea of $2500) for rough conduct against Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn in the final quarter, actions were deemed “Intentional impact, low impact and body contact”.

FRIDAY

Lachie Neale charged with striking and can accept $2,500 fine

George Hewett charged with striking and can accept $2,500 fine

Hewett struck Neale and Neale retaliated by striking Hewett late in the third quarter

Hewett’s was graded as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, while Neale’s was intentional conduct, low impact and body contact.

SATURDAY

Beau McCreery cleared for his tackle on Callan Ward in the second quarter.

Noah Balta was fined $3750, which can be reduced to $2500, for rough conduct on Gold Coast’s Alex Sexton in the first quarter.

 

Mason Cox has been issued a ‘please explain’ by the AFL for a pre-game incident against GWS on Saturday night.

THE AFL has issued a ‘please explain’ for making contact with ruck coach Shane Mumford and running through a Greater Western Sydney drill before Saturday night’

Cox also appeared to collide with Giants midfielder Josh Kelly as part of the incident.

    He gets gifted a team with double digit top 10 talent and the full support of AFL match scheduling and when the inevitable happens and the Roo’s get a flag Clarko will take the credit.
    If it doesn’t happen he’ll blame the players just like Malthouse did.

  2. Even though players scores don’t count in round 0, will those that play have their price adjusted after 3 games, which could therefore be round 2? (It occurs to me the players in round 0 may be those having byes in rounds 2or 3, but haven’t checked that!).

    1. Yes. R0 players who play every game other than those from the Blues and Lions will go up in R2. The rest in R3.

  3. Mason Cox has not been sanctioned for making contact with Greater Western Sydney assistant Shane Mumford before the first bounce on Saturday night, although he has been given a warning by the AFL.
