MRO – Round 8

AFL match review officer Michael Christian verdicts for round 8.

 

Brad Close was charged with rough conduct against Jordan Dawson in the last quarter. Suspended for one game after being assessed as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

# Close has appealed.

Rory Laird was charged with rough conduct against Tanner Bruhn. He was fined $3000 but with an early plea reduce to $2000, after being assessed as careless conduct, low impact and high contact.

Jacob van Rooyen was charged with Striking with Charlie Ballard being assessed as careless conduct, high impact and high contact. 

The grading resulted in a two-match ban that cannot be reduced with an early guilty plea.

# Jacob van Rooyen has appealed.

 

Tyler Brockman was charged with rough conduct against Brandon Walker. Suspended for one game after being assessed as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

Nic Newman was charged with striking Lachie Neale in the third quarter.

The Match Review Officer has assessed the incident as intentional, low impact and high contact, which leads to a one-match ban.

# Nic Newman has appealed.

 

Connor Rozie, Careless contact with an umpire in second quarter ( third offence) $4000 or with an early plea $2500.

Junior Rioli, striking Jordan Ridley in the second quarter.

Graded the strike as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact, sending Rioli straight to the Tribunal and leaving the forward facing a suspension of three-plus matches.

Jy Simpkin has also been fined for misconduct after removing and throwing the GPS of St Kilda’s Mattaes Phillipou. $1500 or with an early plea $1000

 

Nine players – five Sydney and four Collingwood – can accept fines for either instigating or engaging in a melee

Brayden Maynard, Isaac Quaynor, Will Hayward, Marc Sheather, Josh Daicos, Ryan Clarke and Brody Mihochek can accept $1000 fines each with early pleas, while Tom Papley (instigating a melee/wrestle) and Tom McCartin (engaging in melee/wrestle, second offence) can accept $1500 fines.
