Poll: Trades and Rookies

Written by JimmyDee on April 5 2022

We had a few queries on trades and rookie culling early, with Nato garnering heavy interest in his post.

I thought I’d see if I could cover it all  in a few different polls and hopefully satisfy  more of our punters, so bear with me, but as always, let everyone know your reasons behind each decision.

Firstly, trades, for interest sake.

How many trades did you munch into for round 2

And in round three?

Now, help Nato out. Do you think it’s time to give our Crow whiz kid the early flick for someone likely to make more cash?

To Rachele or not to Rachele, that is the question?

Not taking into account all the popular rookies who most folks have. If there’s anyone else I’ve missed, let us know in the comments.

So if you flick him, who comes in?

  1. I’m currently holding Rachele as he had 5 CBA as well as 3 clearances in the game. Having give away a crucial 50m penalty which really hurt his score and then only 60% DE didn’t help.
From his 10 disposals, 6 were contested which is a positive sign that he can be more on the ball.
Round 2 he had 20 disposals with 11 in the final term at 82% DE, but since the game was dead he got no real boost in his SC scores.

Playing Essendon should give him a good chance to show if he truly worth holding onto, otherwise he will likely be making way next week as Preuss is looking attractive to many coaches after his 1st score

    1. that’s a fairly negative outlook.
hope for the best, expect the worst.
      work with what you’re dealt.

      1. I tried that theory last year Mike, and it didn’t work, so this year I’m trying the panic one…….

  4. Hi team

Would be grateful for any feedback.

    Current team
    Backs
Short, Ridley, Sicily, hewett, hinge, mcartin, o’driscoll, Dean

    Mids
McRae, Oliver, Neale, Steele,Cripps, Rowell, jhf, n daicos
    J ward, MacDonald, uwland

    rucks
    Grundy, j Hayes,
    H Dixon

    forwards
Heeney, butters, conigilio, dunkley, Brodie, n Martin,
    rachele, S de koning.

I have used three trades. I have $131k spare

My initial thought was Grundy out Hayes out (job security an issue for mine)
Trade in English and pruess with a fair bit of spare coin.
Now thinking rachele out and xerri in. Given the chatter above.

The scoring the way it is going and perhaps some changes in the game styles etc I don’t think is going to suit the big price rucks I think money better spent else where. I traded out Gawn last week. English is cheaper and I believe will continue to outscore Grundy.

    1. All good as a lone ruckman but at some point Steff Martin will play. Just a matter of when. Look how Ryder and to a lesser extent Hayes , has affected Marshall.

      1. Thanks tiger, I had certainly overlooked that. Any idea how far away Martin is? Thinking I should give Grundy another week, they have west coast at home so he should score well. I need to do something with the r2 position. Any suggestions. Pruess the easy and obvious one but there is only one game to go from. Witts is another option but would need to downgrade somewhere to get him.

      2. I don’t think Stef in will affect English as much as Ryder does Marshall. English gets a lot of his points around the ground, so dropping some ruck time and points may decrease his score, but probably only 5-10 ppg on the upper end.

  5. It’s likely Rachele or Stephens makes way for Xerri for me this week. one of Hayes/Durdin will make way for Pruess next week.

  6. Have made 3 trades, nothing looks worrying but have 350k sitting there
Should I go Soligo to butters allowing me to bench ward?

    1. Maginness -> green t/u
      None – t/d

Kinda need the points since aside from last week I’ve been doing fairly poorly.
