  1. 457 (4) – Macrae, Daniel, Rankine & welcome to the team B Smith.

Checked all my leagues and very relieved nobody had the VC on Macrae – thought about it but discounted it with Hunter out of the Doggies lineup, & thought Macrae’s score might dip accordingly. Happy to be proven wrong.

  2. 344 (4) – Bont, Rankine and newcomers Baz & Greenwood.

Not stoked, but not super disappointed. Probably should’ve shored up my defense instead of bringing in Greenwood but ride or die! Bont is driving me nuts though.

      1. I think it’s a combination of factors.

With Naughton out, the Bulldogs seem more inclined to throw him forward for periods to give their forward line a bit of structure. Playing forward is nothing new, but I noticed he started forward for three out of the four quarters last night, even with Dunkley and Hunter out of the side.

There’s also the tag factor, doesn’t occur every game as only a few teams run a true tagger these days, but his low score against North the other day can be attributed to Luke McDonald wearing him like a glove. No Dunkley is only going to increase the number of times that he’s the player they tag.

Also a disposal efficiency of 35% as he scored last night isn’t going to help haha.

        4

      2. He had 20 disposals last night plus his usual kicks off the ground, taps on to advantage… he went at 35% disposal efficiency if he goes at 60% it’s a 120+ score.

  4. 171/2 Bont and Lipinski, out of interest can anyone explain scaling. Bont went from 94 to 87 and Lipinski 90 to 84. Everyone else around 90 went up I think , Greenwood 94-97 Smith 95 -104 JJ 94-97. Anyway that’s what they scored, just wondering.

    1. Great point Bruce.p.
I’d also like to know, along with the reason why we have scaling.
There is not a quota of frees that has to be paid each game. (No really, there isn’t), or total possessions even, so why “scaling”.??
………unless of course it’s to make each game an even playing field and 3300 was just an ave. guess quota of a reasonable total score for each game.
ie; a bit like gambling odds. Can be affected by ground conditions and therefore uneven and unfair…..but as far as the ups and downs that’s still got me stumped.
      So CD,……..Please explain!!!!!!

      1. This stuff is from an old SC website:

They, Champion Data, standardise each game to 3300 points (based on a study of 5 seasons from I think 2000-2004), which was determined to be the best number, in order to have an equal measure of a player in each game compatible to another player in a totally different game.

        1. Know The Supercoach Scoring System

Undeniably, the most important aspect of Supercoach is the scoring. Without the scores Supercoach would not exist. As a result of this it is important that all coaches know exactly how the Supercoach scoring system works. Not knowing this is detrimental to your Supercoach chances, as it should influence everything you do from trades to team selections each week. So how does it work?

While complicated, basically the scoring system is not as transparent as we would like it to be. In the SuperCoach game there is not a list we can read off to calculate our players scores e.g, 1 kick = 1 point, 1 contested mark = 6 points, because the SuperCoach scores are entirely based on your players’ influence within the game and the context of the possessions. Yes, their scores do depend on the amount of possessions they get, and there is a scoring system that stipulates how many points each player gets for a different action they have in the game, but it is not black and white and, as I previously mentioned, it depends heavily on where the possessions were and what part of the game the possession took place.

On top of this, and probably the most controversial aspect of the Supercoach scoring system, is the 3300 point factor. Champion Data will ONLY allocate 3300 points to any one game of AFL football. This means that in a weekend of football, there is only ever 26,400 points available for your Supercoach team to attain, no more no less.
From this it is important that all coaches:

        PICK A RANGE OF PLAYERS
Picking too many players from one team will instantly decrease your chances of consistently getting big scores, as there are only so many points to go around for each game.

        PICK INFLUENTIAL BIG-GAME PLAYERS
Because the scoring system is weighted towards those players that have the most influence in crucial parts of the game, it is important to pick players that have big influences on games.

THE LOCATIONS OF GAMES DON’T MEAN ANYTHING
Champion Data, through its 3300-point cap, allows for the venue difficulty – a game in the wet at Skilled Stadium and one under the roof at Etihad Stadium are worth the same number of points. So don’t worry about venue when looking at different players and where their next 10 games are.

        JUNK TIME IS BAD
While it may give your player a few extra stats, junk time is wasted time for SuperCoach scores. Big points go to players that have influence in close games.

        1. Interesting to read thanks Dann. It makes me wonder more why Bont dropped in score during scaling when he took an intercept mark and had an effective long kick to a team mate when the game was in the balance. We’ll never know!

          1

          0
          1. The scaling after the match also includes any adjustments to incorrect allocations of points. Bont may have been given too many points for certain actions throughout the match which resulted in being scaled down after the match had finished

  5. Bont & Greenwood were both well under 80 with 5mins to go & I was about to switch off for the weekend… respectable scores in the end.

  7. 754 / 6 / VC Macrae

    Macrae and J Kelly awesome.

    Short, Dusty and Whitfield good.

    Rankine should of kicked straight.

    So do I take Pickett’s 60 ?

    T/U Don’t be greedy take the 60.

T/D Take a punt on M Hibberd v the Crows.

    Thanks folks 🙂

TU: If it is best 18 on bye rounds
TD: Not too sure yet might be best 22

  9. 1314/13/Gawn

Been lucky enough to have all the heavy hitters this round: Macrae, J. Kelly, Sicily and Lloyd. Huge scores from them have allowed me to absorb bum scores from Cripps, Doch, Williamson, Taylor and Bont.

Grundy, Dev Smith, Ridley, Gawn, Petracca, Neale, Starcevich, T. Berry and Simpson left tomorrow. 2400 would be sweet. We’ll see.

  11. 1241/11/Gawn

Jelly, Sicily, Lloyd and Daniel all going big.
I’m backing King tonight to score more than Taylor’s 37.
Projected score of 2407. Lots of interest in tomorrows games. Zerrett, Grundy, Gawn, Oliver, Neale and more.

  12. 1,481 | 14 | Grundy VC and Gawn C to come

195 from Kelly, 169 from Macrae, 157 from Lloyd have all propelled my score a handy amount. Noble/McPherson, Bennell and Simpson still to come, but then nothing but premos and a C.

Projected at 2,414 and hopefully jump into a Top 1k ranking slot.

  14. What do people think is going to be a par score?

    2300 should hold rank
    2400 should move people up?

    1

    1
    1. Interesting GP

Par Scores really depend on where you are currently ranked.

Say you are ranked approx 40K.
2200 may be “par ” score as it will mean you basically maintain your ranking.

Now if you’re ranked top 2K.
A score of only 2200 will probably not allow you to hold your ranking.
So… A “par ” score for a 2K ranking may possibly be closer to 2300.

It maybe better to refer to what an “average” score for the round could be ?

I hope this makes some sense.

      3

      0
      1. That makes a lot of sense.

I’m in leagues at work and their average projected scores are about 200 less than the Supercoachtalk ones i’m in.

I’m ranked around ~6500 so I guess 2300 might be par for that but we’ll see.

        1. No worries GP.

Its really still a little early to tell what could be considered a “good” score this week. There’s still a heap of highly owned players to come..
          Grundy 67%
          Dev Smith 59%
          Neale 51%
          Gawn 27%
          Petracca 21%

How these guys perform will have a large bearing on what we will consider to be a good score this week.
Particularly Grundy / Gawn ,as I see a quite a few of my oppo have him as VC / C this week.

It should make for a very interesting Sunday.

          Good luck.

  15. Wow, I thought my projected 2417 was gonna be huge but it seems like thats around par this week. I took the Macrae VC instead of Gawn and was lucky to have held onto Georgiades. Hopefully can crack the 2500 this week.

  16. 957/9/Grundy VC -> Gawn C

Started so well with Kelly, Whitfield & McRae but now becoming a mediocre at best with Hill forcing the dreaded donut.

It’s a shame I chose to get in Treloar in stead of Jake Lloyd could have fielded 22

  17. 1338 / 12 / Macrae

Disappointing scores from my Blues brothers.
    Doc, Cripps and Williamson.
Houston we may yet have a problem.

Due to the fact they were playing at home I have recruited 2 West Coast and one Freo player over the last 3 weeks. Now I find out they will all have their bye in R10. I have made it my mission to cull some R10 bye players starting with Pitto at R2.

    I’m stoked I took a punt on Paddy Ryder R/F $440K.
142 on debut is a mighty effort.
I’m aiming to move him forward at some stage.

Best of luck to all on this rainy Sunday .

Ryder looking like a sage move. I’m now seriously looking at him next week – let’s keep this between us lol.

        Thanks GD

I hadn’t really considered him until a sneaky mention from Father D.
I looked into it a bit more and was glad I did.
He plays, Syd ,GC, Swans and Ess in the next month.
Not exactly the most formidable Ruck opponents.

A downgrade, and Pitto to Ryder left me with $140K to play with next week. I’m stoked because I nearly broke the bank to bring in English.

Hopefully he works out, as it looks like my backline might need some help 😉

Best of luck with the rest of your round

  18. Currently ranked ~250 and playing for overall. Not keen to take Williamson’s 28 for Hill, who I can trade to Hurn (only have 450k available). With Doc and Sicily already, it means I’ll only be able to field a max of 21 in Round 10.

Anyone have any insight on Hurn’s form drop? Is he still taking the kick-ins? Feel like his 105 average last year was a career-year but at his price even a 95 avg from here would be ok.

    1

    0
    1. He’d been scoring poorly because the Eagles were stuck up in Qld, where we’re terrible. Back in a Perth now, Hurn will click back into gear – great value rn.

      1

      1
      1. Thanks GD. I only have two Def spots left, and without Lloyd, Daniel or Haynes, Hurn wasn’t in my plans. However Eagles could possibly play the rest of the season in Perth. I think playing better sides over the next two weeks will benefit Hurn as well. Might have to pull the trigger.

    2. Hey Matt.

      Congrats on that rank !

I honestly thought Shannon “Burn” was going to turn it around 3 weeks ago ( I got him in for Howe @ $510K 🙁 )

He showed a bit last week with a 93 ,but I’m not sure he can get back to his former glory. That Bye in a R10 sucks as well.

I would consider Doedee 3R ave of 118 and still only $430K , if you don’t have him.
He has age on his side, and the ball is spending a heap of time in the Crows backline.
Unlike Hurn he also seem to get a heap of intercept possie’s. These seem to be scoring particularly well this season.

Best of luck what ever you decide.

      1. Thanks Freo! I actually turned Dunkley into Viney/Doedee before R2, which has worked out great.

TBH I have severe doubts about Hurn. At 32 I think he’s probably more likely to fall off a cliff, like all other former premiums (Simpson, Shaw, Selwood, Ablett, Pendles et al.).

However, given I’m going for overall, and the huge scores around from popular prems (Lloyd, Haynes, Daniels) I need to find an alternative to Williamson.

        1. Nice one Matt.

I hope you can change Shannon’s form. 😉

Wish I’d gone Sicily when I had the chance.

          1. Think I might settle for McPherson, and free up some cash. Not keen to get Hurn with his bye, and might hopefully only lose 30 points. Thanks for your help GD and FT – I’m going the boring option.

  19. 2300/21/Gawn

Simpson still to come tomorrow. Looking for a big jump up from my current ranking of 15k.

  20. Nateo and Liver I feel your pain. Currently top 1k but that’s out the window now.

    1659 / 19 / Gawn

Doc, Doedee, Cripps, Bont, Treloar, Simpkin, Rozee and Grundy all with poor rounds.

Injuries have hampered my season, missing out on upgrades and rookies at the right price. Thought my team had a nice look about it up until now. Great effort from all the coaches posting huge scores here. What’s the most anyone’s fallen in one round!?

Looking at my match ups every round, I’m keen to hear how many rookies we all have still playing on field at this point of the season. After this round I’ll have 3 – Rankine, Serong, Simpson. But I had an opponent who had none on field and heaps of premos. To have that luck…

Love this site, keep up the good work guys

  22. 2300 with only Simpson left to play

Melbourne’s big 3 went biggggggg (oliver, gawn, petracca)

Big ups on Sciliy too, two weeks in a row yes please

Cripps, doc and grundy failed me

Need your opinion- Is Cripps shot with the shoulder injury? Should we be looking at trading him if we are going for overall?? Blues seem to be doing fine without his presence

TU- Yes his injured, trade him losing money
TD – Back him in, his SC royalty

    Cheers guys! Love the community!

    2

    3
    1. He was looking at 130+ at halftime
If his body is right he will start pumping out good scores again. Just has to keep away from the unusual injuries he keeps copping.
