      1. If Zac Bailey averages 97 in the forward line he’s a Keeper.

Tim Kelly is not really relevant without a huge WC renaissance .

  1. I keep going back and forwards on this one.. so time to put it to a vote.

These 2 groups of three players cost about the same,

Who would you rather start ?

Combo 1 has the extra Captains option and Combo 2 has the extra Premo.

    T/U…Combo 1 …..Grundy / Oliver / Rayner.

    T/D .Combo 2 …..Marshall / Petracca / Heeney.

    Thanks Folks 🙂

      1. Jeannot..

        Great to see you again…

Option 2 is way riskier… The temptation to sneak in another keeper is strong.

The Thumbs are pretty clear ( so far ) on this one.

I will stick with Grundy and Co for now.

  2. Just keep changing, just keep changing.

Def: Lloyd, Crisp, Short, Sicily, Sinn, O’Driscoll (McDonagh, Dean)

Mid: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Neale, Caldwell, JHF, Daicos, Ward (Chesser, Parker, Tsitas)

    Ruck: Darcy, Grundy (Comben)

Fwd: Dunkley, Butters, Coleman, Cogs, Curnow, Maginness (Hollands, Motlop)

I’m not too keen on picking Sicily despite the overwhelming positive news coming out of the Hawks/Twitter. Just can’t find the $$$ to bring in a Ridley type without cutting one of the mid pricers. Just sit tight and watch how things pan out this preseason. Also, not buying into the Neale forward talk. Cheers

  3. What I have so far with at least ten more changes to come.
Def: Hall, Crisp, Ridley, Coleman, Wang -Milera, Sinn , Skinner ,Dean
Mid: McCrae, Oliver, Mitchell, Neale, Steele, JHF, Daicos, Rachele, McDonald, ODriscoll, Uwland
    Ruck; Witts, Darcy
Fwd: Dunkley, Duncan, Raynor, Kelly, Cogs, Holland, DeKoning, Parker
$103k still to spend so all is good.
    Duncan, Holland subject to injury.
    Enjoy pulling it apart

  4. On the other thread I said that I would post my team but then I keep changing it. Which like all of us will invariably do, right up to round one and even during the round.
So here goes, my evolving team:

Lloyd, Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Sinn. O’Driscoll – W Kelly, Dean.
Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Neale, Rowell, Horne-Francis, Daicos, Stephens. – Mead, McDonald, Tsitas.
    Darcy, Grundy – Hayes.
Dunkley, Treloar, Rayner, Coniglio, Rachele, Maginness – Hollands, C Parker.

    Bank $31k

Not going to detail justifications.. at the moment, maybe at final iteration.
Wishlist is too many – Luke Ryan, Zak Butters, Tarryn Thomas and Zac Bailey. etc.etc.

Good luck everyone for 2022. May we all have fun.

    1. Great Side CT.

This could work out very nicely.

Rowell is the key really. If he doesn’t light up the preseason you could down grade him, to Caldwell / Berry / Erasmus.
This would allow you to get in Curnow or Hugo Ralphsmith 😉 .at F5.

      Best of luck in 2022.

      1. Thanks FT.
Good point about Rowell. I have tried different teams without Rowell (amongst others). Many different scenarios, the trick is choosing the correct one.

The practice games may help cement my team. It is a small sample to bank your team on though but what can you do?
Maybe Ralphsmith will continue to star??

        I do rate Erasmus.

I forgot to add that I have $31k in bank. I have edited my post to reflect that.

All the best FT for 2022.

    2. Great team, CT.

Paid up for all the rookies so could have an even bigger ITB if they all don’t get up for Round 1.

I’m personally not so hot on Whitfield and Sicily but their downside is insulated by their high ownership.

Like FT said, how Rowell goes will be determinative for this side. If he can get back to a semblance of his early debut performances it’ll be steal. You’ve been all over the pre-season intel, so if anyone’s got a read on him it’s you.

Love all the other premo picks though. Treloar could easily bury all of Butters, Heeney, TT and De Goey if he stays injury free. Really hit his stride late last season. I like it.

      Nice work, CT.

  5. Toying with a slight but important structural change the last week or so.
Shifting M5 from Neale to Caldwell or Rowell, allowing an upgrade from Curnow to Butters at F2.
Neither Caldwell nor Rowell really excite me that much, Caldwell has done next to nothing to justify his selection at this stage, and Rowell really looked awful in parts last season. Just trying to decide if that shift in $$ creates better balance.

DEF: Lloyd, Ridley, Short, Whitfield, Sinn, O’Driscoll [McDonagh, Dean]
MID: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Mitchell, Caldwell, JHF, Daicos, Hobbs [Pedlar, MacDonald, Tsitas]
    RUC: Grundy, Darcy [Hayes]
FWD: Dunkely, Butters, Rayner, Coniglio, Rachele, Hollands [Comben, Parker]

    TU: don’t mind this tweak
TD: revert to Neale at M5 & downgrade Butters

  6. Gotta couple of combos I’d like some thumbs (or thoughts) on

    TD – Whitfield D4 & Serong M5

  7. Heya Coaches,
this seems to be what I’ve settled on heading into AAMI games. Was experimenting with dropping a midpricer or 2 and getting Whitfield but backed in Rayner and Coleman following latest Lions article. Short could also easily become Ryan/Whit dependant on role.

DEF: Crisp, Ridley, Short, Coleman, Sinn, Chesser (Dean, McDonagh)

MID: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Titch, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Ward (O’Driscoll, Long, Tsitas)

    RUC: Darcy, Grundy (Williams)

FWD: Dunks, Butters, Rayner, Cogs, Kelly, Comben (Parker, Hollands)

    Any feedback is much appreciated!

    1. Hey Dazz

Congrats on the Melb Premiership . My thoughts on your team…

ROB is quite the unique ruck. He is under priced but can he return to his best ?
He may cost a trade to someone better later in the year.

I wouldn’t start Taranto, for reasons see my GWS Preview … ( This is a shameless plug.) sorry….kinda . not really he he 🙂

The rest of the side looks killer.

      Great to see you back

    2. Hey, Dazz.

Great to see you around again.

Second everything FT said and would add that Stewart maybe not a great starting pick post lisfranc injury. Been on a managed load and maybe a better upgrade target once he gets his sealegs back.

At the very least monitor his mobility in the preseason games.

      Best of luck.

  9. Any love for Sam Powell-Pepper (377.9 m/f) as a POD.
Last year the coach said to him ” pull your finger out Uranus” (not his nickname) .
Now he’s super fit and getting more midfield minutes

    1. bit of an awkward price, not likely to gain enough money to turn into a premium, an not going to score enough to be a keeper

  10. Got a bit of a stronger forward line than my previous drafts, but I’m really liking the look of this one.

DEF – Lloyd, Crisp, Short, Coleman, Sinn, O’Driscoll (McDonagh, Dean)
MID – Macrae, Steele, Mitchell, Neale, Caldwell, JHF, Daicos, Ward (Mead, Parker, Tsitas)
    RUC – Darcy, Naitanui (Comben)
FWD – Dunkley, Thomas, Butters, Rayner, Coniglio, Maginness (Hollands, Motlop)

First draft without De Goey, only because his recent pre season updates are a little worrying. Plus, Port have mentioned that Butters will be playing a permanent role, which is what a lof of us have been hoping for because we know he scores well when he’s there. Caldwell has been getting more better news too, so he’s in for now.

  11. Landed on this after playing around with a couple different setups. Happy to go with a more light-on FWD line, with the points/consistency the DEF and MID premos seem to offer. Thoughts everyone?
DEF: Lloyd, Crisp, Ridley, Short, Sinn, O’Driscoll (Dean, Mcdonagh)
MID: Macrae, Steele, Titch, Laird, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Mead (Pedlar, Stephens, Tsitas)
    RUC: Grundy, Marshall (Comben)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Cogs, Maginness, Hollands, Skinner (De Koning, Parker)

    2
  12. After what can only be described as a major change up, my team looks like this

Def – Crisp, Short, Whitfield, Sicily, Coleman, Sinn ( O’Drsicoll, Mcdonagh)

Jack Crisp is a lock, Short should get more touches without houli and is very reliable, Whitfield and Sicily are just too much value not to risk it, especially given the extra trades. Coleman can easily be swapped into the forward line if one of the rookies from down forward isn’t playing, but 2 of Sinn, McDonagh or Driscoll are playing.

Mid – Steele, Bont, Petracca, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Ward, Stephens ( Hobbs, Hollands, Tsitas)

Pretty happy with the group of premiums I have there. All of Bont, Petracca, Neale and Steele should hopefully stay injury-free and rack up big points. JHF and Diacos seem to be no-brainers at this point and Ward seems to be impressing and looks to be set for a round 1 debut. Hopefully between Stephens and Hobbs, at least one of them will be playing come round 1. If not, I can flip stephens for someone like Erasmus. Hollands should hopefully play early on, and Tsitas looks like a good bargain pick up.

    Ruck – Darcy, Grundy (Hayes)

Darcy and Grundy goes without saying, and if Hayes doesn’t look like playing then I will flip him for Comben

Fwd – Dunkley, De Goey, Butters, Coniglio, Rachele, Kelly ( De Koning, Long)

Gone deep in the forward line due to lack of good rookies. Dunkley is a lock, De Goey seems to be primed for a big year, and I am pretty confident that butters will get lots of midfield time. Coniglio is a no-brainer at that price, Rachele seems like he will play, and could get a few midfield minutes. Hopefully between Kelly, De Koning and Long, one of them suits up Rd 1. From what I have heard at the Hawks camp, Long could have a sneaky chance at debuting early, and if Kelly and De Koning don’t play, I can either trade them for a playing rookie or cover with Keidean Coleman.

Overall, Pretty happy with the overall structure of the team – 4,4,2,2.5, and as always, rookies are subject to change. Please let me know what you guys think of this team.

    7

    2
    1. Good team.

As I said last thread, people considering Hobbs should take Chesser instead. Similar price, more likely to play/have a role at west coast and has M/D dpp

That would be especially helpful for you if you ever need to shift Coleman forwards

      6

      1
  13. Going for a full structural change and going for 3 Premo mids. Along with 3.5 Def. All bench rookies 123k then load up on forwards/stepping stones

Def Dawson Ridley Whitfield Coleman sinn Chesser
Mids: Macrae Steele miller JHF Ralphsmith daicos stephens erasmus odriscoll
    Rucks Gawn Darcy
Fwds Dunkley Thomas butters Jackson Rayner cogs.

Left over cash currently $180k so I can jump to any under 400k mid priced midfielder after the preseason with more certainty (off ralphsmith) or up to Rowell off a rookie if I downgrade to one extra 102k rookie

    2

    5
    1. TU: Thomas Ralphsmith + 180k for an easy rookie correction to a mid pricer that shows up

      TD. Bont + McGuinness

      8

      4
    2. Looks good jsg,
Money to be made and stepping stones.
I’ve tweaked my team a touch from the other night so I’ll post it later this arvo.

    3. I would be getting TICH in there quick smart even by culling Dunkley I looked at a 3 mid set up and can’t see the point in waiting for the season to start

      3

      1
      1. Ill sideswap Dunkley into a mid when he gets hurt… if not I’ll use a trade boost in round 6 and get a nice POD

        2

        0
      2. If i was going to do that i could just as easily use Dunkley/Thomas DPP to start either of them in the mids. DPP shift Ralphsmith into F6.

The reason for the current setup is it gives me options. I can rookie correct up to a 400k potential breakout player. Rowell, Mcgrath, Caldewll, Berry, Lipinski, Clark. ect or just take a cheaper player and Bank the cash for upgrade season.

I already 5 very reliable captains, plus up to 6 other realistic options.
Macrae, Steele, Touk, Gawn, Darcy + Dunkley, Dawson, Ridley, Whitfield, Thomas, Butters

If i wanted to shift to a 4 mid setup i’d go Grundy over Gawn. As Jackson is in my Fwd line mostly as a hedge against Gawn. Jackson + 200k is about 590. could then shift around primo mids to make sure i have 4 ie Macrae to titch would give me enough to make Jackson into Bont and preserve my bye structure ect.

        2

        1
  14. Reports are Neale plays a forward midfield split this year with Bailey and Rayner getting there midfield opportunity. Thinking do I pay up for Andy Brayshaw whose every chance to go huge this year.

    TU: Brayshaw
    TD: Neale

    14

    16
  15. Removed a few mid pricers in Caldwell, B. Williams and Coleman for the extra defender in Dale, not convinced it makes the team better though…

Lloyd, Dawson, Short, Dale, Sinn, Chesser (Dean, Kelly)
Macrae, Steele, Petracca, Brayshaw, Neale, JHF, Diacos, D. Stephens (O’Driscoll, C. Stephens, Tsitas)
    Grundy, Marshall (Comben)
Thomas, Butters, Coniglio, Curnow, Rachele, Hollands (De Koning, Motlop)

Ideal world is that Marshall gets Fwd at round 6 and one of my first upgrades is another ruck.

    5

    3
    1. Imo if you’re going to take Hollands, try to get him on the bench – I reckon he’s a good chance of burning everyone who starts him (or puts him on field when he returns from current soft tissue inj)

      4

      1
  16. Just wondering is there’s a limit to the number of players “in the mix” you are allowed to have/say for league or SC teams…..

    1

    0
  17. ok,

Def: Lloyd, Dawson, Ridley, Moore, Coleman, O’Driscoll (McDonagh, Dean)

Mid: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Mitchell, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Cheeser (McInnes, Macdonald, Tsitas)

    Ruck: Darcy, Grundy (Williams)

Fwd: Butters, Rayner, Coniglo, Curnow, Kelly, Hollands (Comben, Butler)

    4/5/2/1

    Risks:
    a) Rookie starters as always
    b) Moore – can he stay on the park for a season? Not likely, but should hold his value or improve in the short – mid term. Has a lot to play for.
    c) Forwards – I think this area is where most of the DPP changes will occur, so starting with cheaper mid-pricers with the intent to move into new DPP players mid year.

    3

    2
    1. Hey Arzi.

Theres a couple os structural changes I would consider.

Firstly I’m interested in why Moore ?

He is a bit of a nothing pick in my mind, especially with Roughead now injured. He will most likely have to take the best Forward and won’t have the freedom to zone off. I can’t see him making enough money to be worth it.

If this was my team, he would be the first to go. There’s a real lack of quality Forward rookies so I think getting another solid forward option is the play.

I would look at trading out Moore and moving Chesser back. There’s a heap of Midfield rookie options pick one of Stephens / Erasmus or Ward.

Then use this cash to get another Forward.

Best of luck and happy planning.

      3

      0
      1. When Moore played defense last year he averaged well over a 100 and he is no less a risk than sicily and whitfield. Having said that, he is the weakest link and will most likely swapped out closer to launch as I shuffle the rookies.

Last year, defense rookies were hard to find for the first 8 weeks. My plan is to fill the defense first this year since they cost more than forwards and typically have a more consistent and higher score than forwards.

Starting forwards this year are meh at best, how many of the top 10 will average over 100? With many of them out of position (tarranto), old (Hawkings) or coming off injury, I think you can afford to consider a starting line up of mid pricers here. One or two may end up keepers, the rest upgrades for when the mid year dpp changes kick in.

        9

        0
  18. Back again, tinkering as per usual.

    DEF –
LLOYD, SHORT, WHITFIELD, SINN, PEREZ, ODRISCOLL (MCDONAGH, DEAN)

    MID –
MACRAE, STEELE, MILLER, OLIVER, NEALE, JHF, DAICOS, WARD (ERASMUS, HOBBS, TSITAS)

    RUCK-
    DARCY, GRUNDY (COMBEN)

    FWD-
THOMAS, BUTTERS, RAYNER, COLEMAN, COGS, KELLY (MOTLOP, VOSS)

    Little run down:
The defence has gotten a little weaker as I have moved Coleman to the FWD line for the time being. However, I’m sold on the 3 premiums I have and I believe that the rookies in place look likely to get an early start and hopefully retain their jobs. Obviously they’re subject to change.

I had been tossing and turning about how to fit Touk in and which other premium I would need to lose in order to get him in. In the end I have bolstered the midfield group by dropping Dunkley from the forward ranks.

I don’t love losing Dunkley but he certainly feels more attainable than Macrae/Steele/Oliver/Touk given the price tags. Along with this, Dunkley’s injury history could be a slight cause for concern on that front also. Rookies are the ones I’ve heard most likely to play/ JS. Subject to change.

Ruck stocks are pretty standard. Slight injury concerns with Darcy but he’s leaned down a bit and I feel like he has the highest ceiling in the game so I am willing to risk that. Price tag also means that if he goes down I should be able to swap for anyone (gawn).

Forward stocks are a little depleted without Dunkley there but I feel confident Butters and Thomas can produce to a premium level. Forward line also has the majority of non-rookie cash cows that I am looking to bank in on. Certainly a gamble at this stage but it’s the price I pay to run the midfield group I have.

    Comments, thumbs up/down all appreciated.

    1. swing Kelly to defence (or get DeK or Skinner) with the Fwd/Def swing, lets you swing Coleman to defence if needed

      3

      0
    2. Good team. Main nitpick would be too many highly priced bench rookies. Slim them down to 123k rookies or less and you could find a way to get another 200k ish player on the park

      0

      12
    3. amazing team crabs The format is good but imho you need Coleman in defence. 3 def prems will work just dont like Short and Whitfield Having said that both will be in at least the top 8 so it could work well I opted for Stewart and Crisp with Seagull Rest of the team is great good luck

      1

      0
      1. Why?

While we have less certainty on defenders, we certainly still have a lot of rookie options *potentially* available: Sinn, Chesser, Kelly, O’Driscoll, Kemp, Skinner, De Koning, Perez and Dean are all very much in the mix, and a few others are maybes.

If he’s running short of options then yes, definitely, or at least put a Kelly or De Koning type in there for the swing.

But if all of these guys are available on round 1 I’ll probably move Coleman forward too.

        Time will tell.

    1. Hey, Kieran.

      Good to have you around.

Structurally, a very sound team with mostly rock solid premo picks.

      A few selections issues however:

      – Crouch: returning from a groin injury that ruled him out of an entire year and was still battling it up until a month ago. Even if he was fully fit, he’s still not a good pick. Low CP ratio, negligible clearance work and lopsided K:HB numbers mean he’ll never really do 120~ and be Top 8. Different Crows midfield since he last played as well, with Laird, Keays, Schoenberg and Dawson all contributing. Either find the cash to get him up to a proper MID premo or sack him all together and run a 4x premo MID structure.
      – Daicos: He’s an absolute must have. In an insanely SC conducive role and worth every penny. Start him.
      – Dusty & Taranto: Martin has an adductor injury and even before that wasn’t a good pick and Taranto has perennial DE issues and is slated to play more FWD with Greene and Daniels out and Cogs training at 80% midfield. I’d cull them both and grab Dunkley, who is an absolute must have, and then whoever you rate out of Butters, Heeney, Tarryn Thomas and De Goey.

Still an strong side but I’d just rethink some of those selections and grab Daicos and Dunkley.

      Best of luck.

      12

      1. Thanks GD. Prior to seeing your comment I’ve actually gone Crouch to T Thomas (who I’ll swing forward later in the season), and Dusty to Butters! I must’ve anticipated your response! And I’ll look into Daicos; thank you!

  20. Thoughts on Salem as a DEF premo POD?

Super consistent, scoring-friendly role, had huge scores last year (was averaging 107 before getting hurt and having a bad couple games on return).

Might be a decent option at D4.

    7

    1
    1. As a Dees fan I hope he will. By all reports Salem has had a bumper preseason and looking good.
But beware of the impact that Bowey may have on Salem’s game. The demons rate Bowey’s kicking and decision making and love the ball in his hands. Salem had vice like grip on that role in past seasons.
      Good luck!

      3

      1
      1. Just on Bowey quickly, Baz. Would love to pick the brain of a Dees man.

Obviously, he’s rated very highly internally but how do you see him developing this year? Would his role expand to more HB distribution even with Salem there and then guys like May and Lever knocking about?

        3

        0
        1. I think increased HB distribution is on the cards for Bowey. Salem and May will still be prime movers by foot out of defence and Bowey will be another option. Bowey is also quick on his feet and can carry the ball.

  21. This is the first time I am posting my evolving team online, some feedback/ critiques would be welcome.

DEF: Lloyd, Ridley, Sicily, K. Coleman, O’Driscoll, S. Skinner (Bench: McDonagh, Dean)

MID: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Neale, Rowell, Home-Francis, N. Daicos, D. Stephens (Bench: Mead, Parker, Tsitas)

FWD: Dunkley, De Goey, Butters, Rayner, Coniglio, Rachele (Bench: Hollands, Comben)

As I said this is a work in progress and I would love some feedback

    Cheers, Good luck for 2022

That looks to be a pretty well balanced team.

If DeGoey and Rowell pop off early , this could work nicely.

      Best of luck.

    (Pedlar, Comben)

Virtually no cash left over but think that the lesser premo rookies (Maginness, Kemp) will become SPP players, so not too concerned there. I’m still about making your money work for you anyway.

I had Mitchell in the mid mix but it’s really hard to spend so big on that line when there’s viable, albeit pricey rookies there and not anywhere else. The lack of rookie fwd/def options sort of necessitates extra mid-pricers too, although I’m big on Bowey who’s probably the most contentious.

Overall pretty happy at this stage, the team seems sturdy on each line with a lot of upside.

  23. T/U – Coleman
    T/D – Caldwell

Chesser would cover for Coleman down back, and o Driscoll would be midfield to swap them down back so Chesser could cover mid

  24. There is not much love around for T Miller or Bont, most midfields have the same Oliver Steele McCrae Neale Titch seems kind of pointless if everyone has the same

    4

    1. I agree with you Hinsch to an extent! I think people (like myself) are showing more love to the likes of macrae, Steele and Oliver as they’re just some safe premos who have proven themselves over and over. Where as people may be choosing Titch and Neale as they seem somewhat underpriced because we know they have the potential to score big.

By all means though Bont and Touk are still some elite players, but last year was a real break out year for Touk as an Uber premo (as he went from 106 avg to 124.5). Where as for Bont it may just be because he gets those stints up forward that could worry some people, although the man will probably average 115 again because he’s just too good.

  25. DEF: Short, Daniel, Whitfield, Coleman, Sinn, Chesser (Kelly, Dean)
MID: Steele, Miller, Mitchell, Neale, Serong, Caldwell, JHF, Daicos (O’Driscoll, Parker, Tsitas)
    RUC: Darcy, Grundy (Comben)
FWD: Dunkley, Thomas, Butters, Coniglio, Maginness, Hollands (De Koning, Skinner)

31K in the bank – enough wiggle room for changing the rookies (who I haven’t put much thought into) before R1.

Serong the big risk, but all reports from Freo indicate he’s tearing it up – I rate him to go 105 this year and be a final upgrade – and love the rest of the team structure around him with a solid mid-pricer on each line and 12.5 keepers.

  26. Hi Gumboot

Previous Team was my daughters, passed on your comments, she told me to tell you she is cooking Humble Pie, she’s a good cook.

Finally settle on my Team and promised myself, no changes till Rd 1 section, only decision are8 emergencies.

Lloyd, Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Sinn, O’Driscoll.

Macrae, Steele, Mitchell, Neale, Rowell, Caldwell, H-F, Daicos.

    Gawn, Grundy

Dunkley, Gresham, Rayner, Coniglio, Ugle-Hogan, Curnow.

    What’s your thoughts

    Regards
    Gilly.

    1. Only thing I would do is maybe downgrade Ugle Hagan to Rachele, Rowell to Ward and use the leftover cash to upgrade Gresham to a premium like de goey or thomas

  27. Adelaide have added ex Saint and Magpie Nathan Freeman to its squad.
Depending on price, is he another rookie/ mid price option?
    Is he any good.?

  28. Heya guys would love your opinion on my draft team:

Ridley, Short, Whitfield, Sinn, Chesser, Skinner (O’Driscoll, Dean)

Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Mitchell, Berry, Caldwell, JHF, Daicos (Ward, Stevens, Clarke)

    Gawn, Grundy (Hayes)

Dunley, Treloar, Butters, Congilio, Pedlar, Hollands (Butler, Howes)

Rookies will most likely be changed around after we get a bit more info but pretty happy with the rest of the team. Is 5 premo mids necessary? I initially also had Neale and another cheap rookie but changed to berry and caldwell.

    4

    2
  29. DEF: Lloyd, Ridley, Whitfield, Coleman, 4x rooks
MID: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Neale, Treloar, Caldwell, JHF, Daicos, 3x rooks
    RUC: Darcy, Grundy, Comben
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Rayner, Conigs, Rachele, 3x rooks

$10,300 left in the chest based on current rook selections.
I could upgrade Treloar/Caldwell to Titch/rook leaving me with 12 or 13 keepers.

    Thoughts appreciated!

  30. Hi GGG

    Thanks for you suggestions

Had seriously looked any Ugle-Hogan to Rachele but believe U-H
Will have good year and 200K increase.
    Rowell is a must.
Gresham is a risk and more likely swap forRachele.
Need to build some good cash in first to sixth rounds to sure up for byes. This is going to be to plan for 12-14 and run to finals.

Also some of these mid prices are insurance for the inevitable Covid slam.

Will want to look at Walsh when fully going.

Have 11 Prem and. The other 19 I am wishful will average about 200k increase before trading, some of them better than that and they are keeps.

    Regards
    Gilly

    1. There were only 14 people to have a 200k plus price increase, and only 6 were true rookies, so that’s not too realistic

  31. If you could only have one in your starting team – which one would you prefer :

    TU: Sicily (at D4)
TD: De Goey (at D2) – reports of a broken rib at training

If not Sicily, it’s looking like Coleman at D4.
If not De Goey , it’s looking like I’ll swing Coleman to the forward line.

    18

    4
    1. Jordan De Goey will return to full training next week as he recovers from a broken rib.

“We put him through the paces today, another big (training session) on Friday and then hopefully he will be straight back in for the GWS game the week after ( March 6)”

        1. 8 out of 22…

Because that’s how many solid keepers you have now. Required scores across all lines are going to go up as mids get DPP, and Even with stepping stones helping out and the extra trades available it seems like you’ll either be short on points or be short on trades on the run home if you need up to 31 trades to rookie correct + fully upgrade.

That could leave you a good deal of points short per week at the end. Or running on trade fumes.

I quite liked your old ruck setup. If you arent going Gawn it’s better to ditch Jackson for another breakout mid and get Another primo ruck.

          1

          0
    1. Not sure Witts will be ready to go round 1. Just go with Jackson at R2 if you like him

Taranto will be playing as a forward and doesn’t score very well there

      3

  33. Getting close to the pointy end now.

DEF: Crisp, Ryan, Ridley, Salem, Chesser, De Koning (Akuei, Dean)

MID: Macrae, Steele, Bont, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Stephens, Sinn (O’Driscoll, Hollands, Parker)

    RUC: Darcy, Grundy (Hayes)

FWD: Dunkley, De Goey, Butters, Coniglio, Rachele, Kelly (Skinner, Butler)

    $32,300 ITB.

Not too worried about JDG’s rib at the moment but will keep an eye on him. Was tossing up between Butters and Thomas, think Butters is the safer choice. I like Ryan and Salem as PODs. Pretty happy with the rookies I’m able to afford right now.

    Thoughts?

    1. Wouldnt mind maybe picking up Mcdonagh on your DEF Bench for a bit of extra cover down back, but other than that can’t really fault the squad.

      0

      4
      1. Cheers mate, yeah Akuei is only in there for a loop at the moment but could definitely swap him out for a playing rookie.

        1. Yeah its just that with Parker on your MID bench and 32k left over with the lack of reliable defenders its best to have coverage

  34. T/U – Rowell and Caldwell
T/D – Tarryn Thomas and Stephens

If Rowell and Caldwell perform, Rowell may end up as a M8 or a very late trade and Caldwell could end up as a keeper down forward. I see Rowell averaging 90-100 and Caldwell averaging 85+, whereas Thomas would be 100-105 and Stephens +175k and maybe 60

    1

    11
    1. If you find some extra cash you could push Thomas up to a 500k defender if Erasmus was a 102k rookie… or if you went down from a M1-3 type to a Laird/Petracca. Type.

    1. Wait and see what Neale’s role is in the AAMI games. If he plays midfield in the games then he should be a lock at that price. If not then look at alternatives like Brayshaw

      2

      2
    1. I would look at someone like Whitfield instead of Hind, or Sicily if you have Whitfield. Crouch probably isn’t a good pick, wait and see what his role is in the AAMI Games. Instead of Treloar maybe look at someone like Butters, who looks to be getting lots of MID minutes, instead of Treloar, who is competing with Hunter, Bont, Macrae, Wallis, Dunkley and others

      1

      4
      1. Thanks GGG.

  35. Hey everyone,

    Team so far

DEF: Lloyd, Dawson, Ridley, Sinn, O’Driscoll, Gould (Dean, Uwland)

MID: Macrae, Steele, Clarry, Parish, Neale, JHF, N.Daicos, Ward (Roberts, Clark, Tsitas

    RUCK: Gawn, Darcy (Hayes)

FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Rayner, Coniglio, Curnow, Hollands (Pedlar, Butler)

Rookies obviously gonna charge with round 1 selections

Don’t know between clarry, parish, bont, titch with that D3 or D4 spot.
Waiting on if Dawson will get enough time in the mid and rucks are subject to charge as well, don’t know if Gawn will be his dominate self with him probably going down forward more or resting more with Jackson, R1 and R2 are between Gawn, Grundy, Darcy and Nic Nat

    Happy for feedback

Your probably better off spending that 200k elsewhere.

    2. Dale is definietly a chance. He seemed to share the kickouts with Daniel against Essendon which helps. Went to another level last year and seems likely to keep it up.
In that 95-105 range I think.
Had 9 scores under 90 last year (2 of them 89’s) so if he can eliminate a few of them, with his ceiling (had a 152 last season) he could get there.

    BOMBERS
Andrew McGrath’s ($464k MID) move to half-back could be a big win for KFC SuperCoaches, after the mid-price midfielder impressed against the Bulldogs, finishing with 115 points. He found plenty of the ball in the back-half, and pushed up through the middle, in a role which might see him receive dual-position status by Round 6, if it continues. As KFC SuperCoaches were hoping, the arrival of Jake Kelly allowed Jordan Ridley ($537k DEF) to play with more freedom. After a slow star, the star defender, who took a handful of intercept marks and three of his side’s eight kick-ins, finished with 104 points, the fourth-most for the Bombers. Darcy Parish ($621k MID) had plenty of the ball, on his way to 94 KFC SuperCoach points, while newly-signed rookies Tex Wanganeen (47), who only played the final quarter, and Nick Martin (45) did enough to end up straight on the basement-price watchlist. Tempting mid-price option Jye Caldwell ($266k MID) finished with just 51 points, after spending plenty of time across half-forward and attending only two centre bounces.
    BULLDOGS
Josh Dunkley ($558k FWD-MID) attended 16 centre bounces and was back to his prolific best through the midfield, tallying 124 KFC SuperCoach points – only, you guessed it, Jack Macrae ($699k MID – 126 points) had more. In what is likely to make forward-line decisions even more difficult, Adam Treloar ($483K FWD-MID) was brilliant, too, before being rested late. He tallied 93 KFC SuperCoach points and attended his fair share of centre bounces while on the ground. Bailey Dale ($518k DEF) was precise with his ball-use in the back-half and took five of the Bulldogs nine kick-ins, on his way to 120 points.

Great side but you have a heap of basement rookies and you need Cogs Forward. Relying on 3 forward rookies is very risky. I would be looking at getting in another Midfield Rookie like D. Stephens, Ward , Erasmus or Hobbs.

You may need to select a cheaper Premo in defence ( you’re very strong here ) to afford the best playing rookies.

Best of luck and happy planning.

That sure is a killer midfield. It does come at the expense of No Dunkley and a weak defence. For me Berry at M6 is a little excessive. We have some good midfield rookies so you need to make some room for them. I would consider downgrading a Midfield Premo to someone like S Stephens. This should afford you Dunkley, or you could add another Premo in Defence. I’m not sure I would run with all of Sicily , Hewitt and Coleman. You really want to start at least 12 “Keepers” ( players you think can finish top 6-8 on their lines) Most folks seem to have agreed with a 3/4/2/3 structure with room for mid-pricers at M6 / D4 and F4-5.

Have a play around and see what you can come up with.

Best of luck and happy planning.

  41. Wondering if I am getting close

Def – Lloyd, Crisp, Short, Coleman, Wanganeen-Milera, Sinn (Dean, Voss – Gives me a fwd swing for Coleman at cheaper than Skinner and a non-playing rookie for captain loophole)
Mids – McCrae, Man of Steele, Oliver, Neale, Cripps (body seems fine and underpriced), Daicos, Stephens, Tsitas (Mead, MacDonald, O’Driscoll)
    Rucks – Grawndy
Fwds – Dunks, Soft as Butters, Rayner, Cogs, Curnow, Rachele (Maguiness (great swingman), Kelly

Thoughts appreciated. Any changes? Not sure whether Wanganeen Milera is ready but he is silky smooth with his run and kicking. Only $7.5k cash in reserve could be a concern.

    1. Mick love this team… Solid Backline, Rucks tick, Forwards a little thin but I’ve seen worse. They we get to Cripps. Ugh !

I you had owned him at all in the last two years, you would not be even considering him. He just seems to have lost that burst of speed to escape the stoppage. He may have found some fitness but he is still slow. He waits until 3 guys are hanging off him then gives out the handball. With this new interpretation of the holding the ball rule coming in. I’m not sure this kind of play will work any more. He has little to no chance of finishing even top 12 Mids so is not really a Keeper. Best case he holds some value, and you trade him to Walsh when he’s back.

Berry could average similar or better numbers, actually make money, and is $180K cheaper.
You could use this money to turn Rayner / Coleman / Curnow into a proper Keeper.

      I know what I’d do.

        1. Good god, Derek. What are you talking about.

Lloyd, Whitfield and Sicily all done premium scoring before. Whitfield could get injured but will go well as long as he’s on the park. I haven’t had Sicily in any of my teams but has upside and worst case scenario he’s D6.

          There’s 3.

Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Dunks and Neale some of the competiton’s (AFL and SC) midfielders. 120-125’s there.

          5 more.

          Darcy and Grundy, bang bang.

          Up to 10.

Relative to the FWD line, Thomas, Heeney and Butters are all in contention for Top 6.

          1. I think of keepers as a player you pick at the start of the year to keep them all year.

I would only start them if they are Lilley to be in or very near the top 8 for the year.

I’ll agree Sicily is a keeper, close to be top 6 defender, if you start him you would expect to keep him. Has done it before.

Heeney is close, same as with Sicily, start him you expect to keep him all year. Will need to have his best year ever to be close to the top 6 for the year.

Neither Thomas and Butter have done it before. Both will need to have everything go right for them and add 15pts from what they done in the past to be near top 6 forwards, especially with DPP players to be added during the season.

Again, if you are starting them, you are expecting to keep them, on that basis you can count 13.

    1. Hey Moonlight .

I’m in Sydney and that’s been bad enough.

I like your team but for me you’re a tad Mid heavy. This means you only really start 11 keepers. Try to start at least 12 . I think you could use another Forward Premo. Heeney or Butters. and maybe boost your defence with a Coleman / Bowey type to hold down D4.

I would look at 4 Premo mids and one of Rowell or Berry. with 3 no field rookies.

This should get Curnow / Rayner to Butters or Heeney and cash left over to add another Best 22 defender.

Best of luck and happy planning.

    1. Great team, HH.

One of the best you’ve posted this pre-season. Excellent picks, great depth.

      Position the only issue.

Hewett of more use getting a rookie off field down back and his scores more competitive for Top 6 there. I’m warming to him as well. Was always slated for a defensive MID role but could really get cooking with Walsh out early.

I get the Dunkley move to the MID. Allowed you to stack your FWD line, which I agree is the play. Just personally a fan of a deep midfield with 5x 120+ C options vying for Top 8, with Dunks just cruising to F1.

Not as averse to him as a MID, could be a sage move. Just think Hewett definitely needs to be a DEF.

      Good luck.

      1. Reality is I have too many dpp as some of them are obviously not planned as being keepers (eg Ralphsmith and Coleman) so Dunks will replace Ralphsmith in time and Hewett will replace Coleman as we start to cash out.

I’m probably stretching to call it 13 keepers but this far out from the season it looks like it could be. I’ll squint a bit and call it 13.

Slight change since posted, De Koning replaced with O’Driscoll, Jackson Mead into the mids for De Koning. De Koning really looks like he’s not going to score much.

Although, let’s be honest, I’m really just waiting for Hugh Dixon to get added into SuperCoach at this stage.

Gibcus could become Rachele too. I’m on the fence on that one at this point.

        2

        1
    2. Starting all 3 of Thomas, Heeney and Butters is a risk. Can’t see all of them being keepers, maybe one will. I’d be holding off and look at jumping on one in Round 3 once you have had a good look at their roles, especially midfield minutes. Getting stuck with 3 all playing forward will set you back

      2

      6
      1. I’m more thinking that 2 will, and one will get injured, or at worst, stuck in a forward role that will see them at least match their current PPG.

Amazingly I don’t expect that one to be Heeney, as a more midfield role should reduce the high flying marks which have so frequently caused his injuries.

All 3 are currently slated to play midfield.

Of the three Butters actually attended the least CBA’s on the weekend, which was quite the shock to me, but there’s plenty of foxing in these preseason games so I’ll go with the coaches statement over what he did wiht his team on what was effectively a play date.

        1
      2. Arriving at this comment, Derek had 0 thumbs up and 4 down. And he is right! Round 6 dpp changes could mean gawn available in forward line, Dangerfield, and others. So, starting Thomas, heeney, butters, Dunkley, is a risk. Only two spots left.

        0

        5
        1. I’m expecting Gawn and Marshall to get DPP early, as well as Dangerfield, Sloane and maybe Lyons

I don’t mind Heeney, he has scored ok in the past, but the others, plus Bailey need to go to another level

          0

          2
        2. Gawn is unlikely to be available in the forward line by round 6. He’ll be lucky to get dpp at all in 2022.

To do so he has to start at least for 35% of all centre bounces in the forward line. Given that some of those bounces he’s gonna be on the bench having a rest, and maybe occasionally they’ll pair him on a tall forward or resting ruck down back, I don’t think Jackson is going to be doing half the #1 ruck work, and Gawn doing 50% ruck, 35% forward, 10% bench, 5% defence.

You start pushing Gawn to even a 60/40 ruck split with Jackson and that 35% forward requirement gets to be very difficult unless Gawn is playing 95% game time.

Maybe my interpretation is wrong and they exclude bench time, but I know based on years of Fantasy that there is far fewer players meet the 35% barrier than you might think, whatever secret sauce they use to calculate it.

If I was coach I sure wouldn’t be only using Gawn as #1 ruck just 60% of the time if he’s fit and you want to win back to back flags. Certainly not for the benefit of SuperCoach players.

Years of data from AFL Fantasy which has long used this same system has shown adding additional player dpp positions is actually quite rare for players who are not now playing on a full time basis in different positions, such as Ziebell last year.

Dangerfield will probably get dpp fwd/mid, but I don’t know that I’d be certain of backing him as accumulating more points than a younger Butters/Heeney type who are committed to a midfield role and almost certainly WILL get dpp, given his age and how his body is going. The last two years he’s really shown his age.

Even if he does, he’s at a price premium over those two anyway, which is probably one premium less in your side, and thus extra trades required.

Honestly Lachie Neale might be a better chance of fwd/mid dpp than either Gawn or Danger.

          4

          1
          1. I’ve not played Fantasy so havn’t seen players get DPP

I would expect the % to be based on the TOG

There is a world where Melbourne are well ahead at 3/4 time and max clocks up some frequent flyer points at full forward.

I guess the first 6 weeks anything could happen because it’s only 6 weeks. Fyfe, JKelly even Bont might spend some time forward and get DPP.

I’m not that keen on the idea

            2

            0
            1. Fyfe is a good chance to based on what Freo’s stated regarding managing him.

Bont has had dpp before but can’t see it happening with his role over the last couple of years. They’re more likely to shift Dunks forward than Bont.

    1. Pretty solid there. Obviously we need Witts to show something but they don’t seem to have any concerns over the strength of his knee from the reports out of the club, more just general match fitness.

The two other guys with injury concerns (Hollands and Chesser) over them were both in my team until my last draft so if they’re fit they are definitely deserving of a go.

We’ll see what recovery times they post.

Dropping down to Witts certainly beefs up that midfield a lot.

    2. Hey, Horse.

Good bones but a few selection issues:

      – McGrath not a starter. Will become relevant when he gets DEF status as he looks to be playing at HB now, but nowhere near a chance for Top 8.

      – Brodie was good the other day but not a B22 MID, so if he plays it won’t be in an SC conducive role.

      – Witts is a massive no. Not even a certainty to start Round 1. Even if he were ready to go, he’s got very little upside.

      – FWD line structure is great but Dunkley is a must have. Whether you merge a couple midpricers for him or get the cash from elsewhere, he is an absolute must have.

To get Witts to a proper ruck and Dunkley in, you could either:
      – run a 4x premo MID structure, which is popular right now, and drop McGrath to a rookie
      – axe some midpricers

Tinker around, see what you can come up with.

      Best of luck.

  46. First time poster, usually a fantasy player. Thought I’d try my hand at SC after a fluke season last year. I’d really appreciate the feedback.

Def: Lloyd, Crisp, Ryan, Sinn, Kemp, De’Koning (Mcdonagh, Dean)
Mid: Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Brayshaw, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Mead (O’driscoll, MacDonald, Tsitas)
    R: Darcy, Grundy (Comben)
Fwd: Dunkley, Heeney, Rayner, Coleman, Cogs, Hollands (Skinner, Parker)

All rookies are placeholders at the moment. I’m a little worried about the forward line though.

Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks SC.

    1. Not much to say, Redlands. That’s a great team!

      Classic structure, great selections.

Only thing to consider is if rookies look a little thin up forward on down back, be prepared to sack sack MID premo and turn in into DEF or FWD depth.

That’s a move many of us have already made or are ready to make.

Other than that, excellent team and good luck.

Hope to see you around throughout the season.

    2. Too short down back. 1) You’re relying on 5 rookies starting. It looks doubtful. 2) The fullback rookies aren’t going to score well. Sinn could! E.g., dekoning is a likely starter, but probably scores low. Looked all over the place against tigers. He has the role, with some freedom, but lacks experience. You don’t want rookies scoring 30 on the field.

      2

  47. Changed it up a bit after the practice match round, and I like this a lot (but obviously subject to changing another 100 times prior to Rd.1)

DEF: Lloyd, Short, Whitfield, Coleman, Sinn, O’Driscoll (Dean, McDonagh)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, Titch, Neale, Dusty, JHF, Daicos, Maginness (Pedlar, Goater, Tsitas)
    RUC: Naitanui, Grundy (Comben)
FWD: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Rachele, Hollands (Kelly, Motlop).

    $34,900 remaining

Short and Whitfield looked VERY good. Short got 35 possessions in his game (29 of them being kicks). Coleman obviously didn’t play due to being a close contact, but he’s still in. Sinn did enough I reckon to play Rd.1 and I HOPE O’Driscoll or Dean get the same outcome.

Macrae and Oliver were the clear BOGs in their respective matches. Dusty wasn’t originally in my plans, but he got 33 disposals against the Cats today, so I’ve managed to put him at M5 (also gives me an extra MID/FWD switch option). JHF and Daicos should be locked in to everyone’s sides, as does Maginness who looked the clear best out of the Hawk rookies in yesterday’s match. Goater and Pedlar were decent too, hopefully Tsitas gets a chance to shine before the season starts.

Nic Nat won’t be leaving being the only premo ruck not out in the last bye round. The other I deciding over Darcy or Grundy. The latter looked extremely good against the Hawks yesterday. Comben could be moved to the forward, as Hayes is looking more likely to get an early start with Lycett getting injured.

Dunkley and Butters proved to be absolute locks. Heeney wasn’t in my original plans either, but hearing he might have a permanent shift into the midfield and seeing what he did yesterday when he was there looked tasty. Cogs was impressive, and I think Rachele should be a rookie lock after kicking 3 goals. Hoping Hollands is fit by Rd.1, and I’ll be changing Motlop to Wanganeen when he eventually gets added onto Supercoach.

    1. Great justification! And nice team, until you get to the forward line. Then it’s broken. Holland’s out. Could be used as loophole initially and will play throughout season. Kelly and Motlop unlikely to start round 1, meaning you’re bleeding cash.

I also doubt any of your midfield bench rookies start r1. Find a way to get stephens in from swans.

      0

      4
    2. Love the justification.

I don’t know that I’m sold on Dusty. Most likely he’ll put in a blinder Round 1 and then by round 6 he’ll be a 450k player again.

Kelly or Motlop out, Hayes in via Comben to fwd make sense based on Lycett. Did the same myself.

Nicnat will be a big gamble again. The byes always make the ruck story difficult. If he can keep his body together again another year you may be on a winning bye strategy, but he’s been on my never again list too long. Best of luck for him (and you) though.

  49. I’m a guns ‘n rookie coach, as long as the rookies are available

I’ve gone with quite a few of the more expensive rookies who should have ok job security, but they can be downgraded if the cheaper ones turn up

Ridley, Whitfield, Daniel, Sinn, Chesser, O’Driscoll (Kelly, Dean)

Macrae, Steele, Titch, Petracca, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Pedlar (MacDonald, Mead, Uwland)

    Gawn, Grundy (Akuie)

Dunkley, Taranto, Dusty, Coniglio, Rachele, Hollands (Jones, Parker)

(My B Team has Pruess & Lloyd, instead of Gawn & Chesser. Prefer B if Preuss looks good)

Ridley, Whitfield & Daniel are all undervalued keepers, never like spending overs for defenders. I think we should get a few rookie defenders that play, but will be nervous times having them on field.

Midfield premos pick themselves, although I don’t think there will be much between Oliver and Petracca, but $70k is significant. Can’t go against JHF or Daicos. Maginness can jump in if he is selected. Uwland is there mainly for DPP rookie looping

Dunkley is a no-brainer. Taranto will be top 6 forward so just start him, there is talk he will play mainly forward, me thinks that’s a bluff from GWS. Dusty is undervalued and won’t be far away from top 6 forwards, he might be old but I’m betting he rises for one last crack. Coniglio was first picked. Raynor is a watch, awkward price and never really been a big SC scorer, and not keen on players coming back from ACL’s.

Thought about Thomas, Heeney, Butter, Bailey, DeGoey, but none really appealed, I’m sure one of them will start really well but who? Prefer to wait until round 3 and jump on. Too much unknown about their ‘midfield’ roles, prefer to stick with the proven premiums.

    Tu: Lloyd & Pruess
    Td: Chesser & Gawn

    1. Fielding 3 rookies in the backline is way to risky. When considering rookies, you want rookies that will average 60+ on field in my opinion, and anything under on the bench. Well, chesser is injured, sinn and odriscall could but dont have job security. If one of these get dropped, what do you do? I suggest making the defence stronger. Perhaps get Coleman, hinge.

Regards taranto: Could be a bluff, but whose going to cover all their forward outs. Daniel, finlayson, Greene. I suspect he will be forward first few weeks. He won’t hurt you to start someone else and bring him in later.

      Degoey broken rib.

Raynor got cbas, but couldn’t get the ball.

Rookies: fwd: Jones may play early. Keep an eye out, but Parker probably won’t. Theres a few too many 102k rookies in your team which make it a bit unrealistic.

      2

      1
      1. I’m hoping Preuss is an option at R2. Will bring back Lloyd or Crisp at D1.

Coleman might be good with his DPP, so might Answerth playing on the wing, Raynor might still be a decent option.

Probably will start 12 premiums, 13 is a stretch with the rookies we are getting. Might drop Dusty, his age does worry me, Taranto is a beast and super reliable.

        Tu: Dusty
        Td: Taranto

        6

        3
      2. Actually, they had a new player kick 5 goals for them. Brander’s performance might solve a few dramas at GWS. He was struggling for opportunity at WCE.

        1

        0
  50. My defence is going to appear a little nutty. Whitfield at d1, but hear me out.

Def: Whitfield, sicily, Hewitt, Coleman, sinn, odriscall. Bench: mccartin, dean.
Mid: Macrae, steele, Oliver, neale, lipinski, berry, jhf, daicos. Bench: mcdonald, mead, mcdonald.
    Ruck: Darcy, grundy.
Fwd: Dunkley, heeney, butters, cogs, Ralphsmith, durdin Bench: maginess, chandler.
    Remaining cash. $76,600

I initially had a 4 premo defence, with Coleman and sinn, but I was never really confident in some of those defenders. E.g., ‘short’ averages higher without Houli, but with ralp smith playing a seagulling role hopefully, it may effect his score. ‘Dawson’ having covid worries me as I can’t see his scoring output.

So, I’ve put the $$ from down back into some value midfielders. 4 premo + lipinski whose playing inside mid, and berry who look good. I believe I have a solid midfield and midfield rookies.

Am I too weak in the backline? Fielding two of sinn, odriscall, mccartin or dean worries me! Dean only likely to play first few rounds until roughead returns.

Similar story in the forward line! Am I too weak with the rookies? I could upgrade durdin to rachele if he doesn’t play. And chandler to dekoning.

Furthermore, is my structure going to hurt me. Usually the winning structure is guns and rookies. I have way too many mid pricers. E.g., lipinksi.

    2

    1. We’ll need to see how well McCartin holds up. He may be a rookie price but he’s a mature body with high draft pick skills.

The only worries are how much will swans risk playing him and any concussion/head hits and you have to trade him.

If he stays fit and the Swans don’t regularly rest him I see him as one of the few players who will make over 250k. But that’s a big if, based on his injury history.

Lipinski, Berry, Ralphsmith and McCartin. It’s a very different team for sure.

    1. Neither is a bad pick. Both are durable and have upside – Crisp due to mid and Lloyd due to Dawson leaving. I see both as being as close to a lock for top 6 as you will get.

Does having one over the other help you with the cash for a player you want or due to dpp swaps?

      4

      0
    1. If you have Titch as a late captain option, take Steele. If you don’t then I think I’d lean slightly to Miller. If Witts is fit that could help boost Miller’s scoring too.

Both sound like they’re great picks and are having ripper preseasons, so that’s the only thing I can think of to separate them.

      2

      0
    1. I think you need to wait for the next preseason game to see the roles each are playing. If Weller plays the same role again he could be a genuine forward premium chance playing off half back.
I expect Lipinski will get less mid time once DeGoey is back but he should be good for 90 and can be used as a stepping stone/last upgrade type.
Based on info so far, have to lean Weller

      1

      0
      1. FT – I only have one midfield space and Berry and Stephens would take up two. To get stephens it would mean sacrificing Ward, and as a hawks fan who is incredibly keen on him I just cant do that

        1

        0
  52. If pendles plays that HB role from Rd 1 is he a genuine option to start at say M5 and move too your back line in round 6 when he gets DPP. He should average 100 in that role. He’s perfect for it and he was taking kick ins also. Mightily tempting at 490k?
Or just a watch and an upgrade target?

    3

    1. Great idea, but just a little concerned that while he’s got Daicos under his wing, is handcuffed to DeGoose, supervising the backline, monitoring the forwards and trying to stay fit, he might be a little too fragile to take the risk with. (IMO)

Ps Apologies if the term handcuffed upsets, change it to glued.

Pss Forgot to mention, instructing umpires (coin toss) and the coaches liaison officer in the huddles……..

    1. Thomas to be competitive for Top 6 FWD, Cerra won’t get close to the 120~ required for Top 8 MID.

Either find the coin to get Cerra up to a proper MID premo, otherwise Thomas up FWD is solid.
