  1. Had planned for the practice match reports with CBAs and kicks to be up first thing Monday but had some stuff come up and taking me longer than expected – going back and watching parts of games.

Will be up Tuesday, sorry all.

    1. Not convinced with Flanders. He got a lot of mid time but Anderson didn’t get his usual minutes and Touk has to come back in. Should play R1 but might be stuck forward a lot.

    1. I do like your selections apart from expensive rookies sitting on the bench and a tad too many mid-pricers. Swap expensive rookies for cheaper rookies and remove one of (Fyfe, Flanders, Callaghan) and use the left over money to upgrade Cameron to Witts, English Darcy type.

      1

      3
      1. If I get rid of the mid-pricers, looks something like this:

        Stewart/Docherty/Dawson/Yeo/Giney/Wilmot (Constable,Cowan)

        Oliver/Macrae/Brayshaw/Green/Hopper/Ashcroft/Mackenzie/Phillips (Baker,Drury,Cincotta)

        Marshall/Cameron (McAndrew)

        Dunkley/Rozee/Taranto/Fyfe/McLean/Phillipou (Greene, Davey)

        1. I didn’t say remove all midpricers. Im implying one or two midpricers.

          I provided an option.
Remove one of midpricers (Fyfe, Flanders, Callaghan), remove expensive rookies that are sitting on the bench then upgrade Cameron to premo ruckman.

It’s silly to have players over 140K rookies sitting on the bench, you can easily downgrade it to 123K rookies and use left overs to upgrade into better value players like Steve’s team (Phllipou, McLean Phillips) on the bench.

  7. This is what I’ve landed on pending rookies

D – Doch, Daicos, Yeo, Jones, Ginbey, Constable (Wilmot, Cincotta)
M – Laird, Bont, Macrae, Green, Hopper, Ashcroft, MacKenzie, Phillips (Baker, Chesser, Davey)
    R – Darcy, Marshall (Ryan)
F – Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Gulden, Rat, Phillipou (Sturt, Greene)

Leaves me with $190k bank which is probably too much, but provides flexibility if I need to pay up for a mid pricer from a struggling rookie.

Back – It was between Doch & Sicily for D1, and I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Still hot on Daicos as his role of HB / Mid is SC friendly.
M – Laird, Bont & Green are locks. Toss up between Macrae & Steele for M3. Currently like Macrae
R – Really wanted to put D Cam in there as he played well with Cox in the side, but can’t help think he’s a sub risk if Collingwood go in to a game with Cox, Cameron, McStay & Mihocek. Rolling with Darcy in the hope he’s a 70% CBA ruckman
F – No changes from my previous side except backing in Gulden. Yes he could be a trap, but I think he can go top 6-8 at his discounted price point

    3

    1
    1. Wouldnt mind using that 190 to upgrade Daicos to Sicily, still gives you a fair bit of cash ITB

      1. Sicily or Dale are a big consideration. If we get good cheap rookies I’ll more than likely move to Sic

    2. I cannot believe Hoe close to my side this is!

You have vs what I have

      Jones. McKenna
      Laird. Brayshaw
      Macrae. Steele
      Philippou. Ziebell
      Davey. Bruhn

With your side, I think the best use of your 190k is Philippou or Mackenzie to Ziebell or Bruhn.

Mackenzie had a great practice match, but he is a winger in a bottom side.

Philippou- not sure whether his role will see him make enough cash. At a guess he might be a bit stop start.

Ziebell- has the role. Has the proven scoring ability. Even if he is only an 80-90 performer and not the 100 he was, it will still be more than Mackenzie or Philippou, in my opinion. Very rarely does a rookie average more than 70.

Bruhn – in a good side. See FD’s rules! I also think he might be an 80’s scorer.

Starting with the midpricer rather than the rook means you still have the flexibility to go down to a popping rook if you need, but I think you will have more onfield points ti start with.

  8. Hey played a few years but wanting get my head fully around the VC loophole method and is this the only players people can do this with ?

    0

    0
    1. So VC loophole is if you put any player on field who isn’t playing that week and make them your Captain then the points from your VC count as your captain score.

Ie Say you have Bont as C and Oliver as VC. If Bont gets ruled out of the match you’d get Oliver’s score doubled as your captain and then a bench emergency players score on field.

When people talk about a “loop” player they mean they plan to pick a player who won’t be selected all season so they can use that player as non playing player on the field every week.

Because this player won’t play for you all season you want them as cheap as possible, and to play lots of late games. DPP is also essential.

Most people typically use a cheap Ruck/Forward for this role. This year Nick Madden (102k GWS R/F) is the popular player to do it with

  10. Let me know any trades you think I should make. Not sure about my ruck line. Do I have the right rookies? Thoughts on Nat Fyfe and Elliot Yeo? Should I get one of Josh Bruce or Liam Jones and, if so, which one? Oscar Allen, Ben King, or neither?

Defenders: Sicily, Stewart, Dawson, Yeo, Ginbey, Constable (Wilmot, Cincotta)
Midfield: Laird, Oliver, Neale, Green, Hopper, Ashcroft, Cam MacKenzie, Will Phillips (Phillipou, Oskar Baker, Chesser)

Being optimistic, I could have 13 Keepers if two of Fyfe, Yeo and Hopper have great seasons.

    1
    1. Dont like Ratugolea as R2. No guarantee he is going to be playing week in and week out, probably better as an F5/6. Could turn fyfe into a mid-rookie and start Phillipou down forward, as well as something like Dawson to ridley/young/daicos, which frees up cash to maybe upgrade Ratugolea

      1

      0
    2. Don’t go RAT at R2 it’s just a mistake waiting to happen. He’s a 170k on field player. Use the extra cash for a 200k player at a different line and swap one of your Premos into a legit Ruck Premo.

If a midprice alternative shows up it’s far easier to trade down then up.

  11. Have had to make some changes based on roles and performance in the practice matches. Squad is as follows

Def – Sicily, Stewart, Ridley, Yeo, Ginbey, Constable (Wilmot, Cincotta)

Ridley could become Daicos or Young, Stewart could become Docherty

Mid – Laird, Oliver, Bont, Brayshaw, Ashcroft, Mackenzie, Phillips, Hewett
    (Sinn, Chesser, Drury)

Gone purely guns and rookies here, rookies will change if they have to.

    Ruck – English, Marshall (Mcandrew)

Gone with English purely because if something does happen I can easily downgrade

Fwd – Dunkley, Rozee, Gulden, Bruhn, Mclean, Phillipou (Greene, Davey)

Not sure about Mclean, might turn him into a Van Rooyen type and start Greene

    1. English Grundy Witts Darcy, all have their own problems but so does every ruck this year

      0

      1
    2. Gawn, Darcy, Witts. …Grundy as the #2 ruck is unlikely to average 100, closer to 80 is more probable, English is the premo most likely to miss games through injury or misfortune.

    1. Strong side.

Not many fading Hopper, but I get it. Looks like he might have made way from Bruhn. Given no Taranto, feels like you are making a statement on Richmond’s midfield scoring potential!

I am not sure on having to field either Davey, Sturt or Greene. Consider T Green or LDU out. Move Davey onto mid bench. Move Baker or Constable on field. Bring in Taranto, Gulden or Moore.

    1. I’m all over Bruhn atm. If he can maintain a semblance of 50% OB time, he’s gonna go 85+.

His in & under work, tackling etc. we’re phenomenal. Caught my eye in the Hawks scratch match, then backed it up this past weekend. Literally looking a like for like Selwood replacement for the Cats (FFS, how do they keep getting away with it?!?)

Potentially dodgy JS, but if he’s a bust, will move to the best emerging rookie / mid priced forward early.

    1. Worpel instead of Yeo is an interesting choice.

All lines look solid except midfield. Only 3 premos to start is a tough road. Needing to but 5 more premos. My own gut feel is that we are more likely to be able to pick up a defender for 550k than a midfielder. Honestly I think it will take some luck to get Laird or Oliver for less than 650k at the time you want to be full premium.

Also concerned that you have 3 from GWS in your midfield. I understand why they all might have their individual appeal, but 3 together feels like a risk. Then add to that 2 from Hawks, feels concerning.

Setterfield seems to have come in and stolen any real chance Perkins gets significant mid time. Kid has the potential I just doubt he gets the role unfortunately.

    1. Pfffft you have an extra mid premo than me lol. Structure is strong, love this team.

Just one issue. Reilly O’Brien. Get Darcy instead. Didn’t dominate Eagles without NN in the praccy, which is unacceptable IMO. I don’t care that it wasn’t the real thing, you need to go 150+ against Jamieson. Also lots of talks about potentially getting others into the ruck at the Crows. A 500k+ ruckman with dodgy JS is a hard pass.

Could also downgrade McKenna to a Chesser type, and look to upgrade to Witts potentially. Really depends on who else you’re liking.

  18. Here’s my latest crack, subject to squads being named. I’ve subbed Green out of the guts to prioritise potential cash gen but may have to tweak a bit if not enough of my rookies are starters. Either Cowan or Cincotta will be dropped, depending on Round 1 selections.

DEF: Sicily, Stewart, Dawson, Ginbey, Constable, Cowan (Cincotta, Wilmot)
MID: Oliver, Neale, Bont, Hopper,Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie, Phillips (Baker, Davey, Drury)
    RUCK: Marshall, Cameron (Madden)
FWD: Dunkley, Coniglio, Rozee, Taranto, Fyfe, Sheezel (Sturt, Greene).

I won’t be making as many points through the Mid as previous iterations. Def line is also risky, with three genuine rookies but I’m hoping Dawson + Cowan/Cincotta will generate more points than Yeo (who I’m still sketchy on) + a mid pricer. I chose Dawson over Doc to save a potential trade when Walsh returns.
I’ve also tinkered with Rat down forward with the option of moving Cameron if necessary but I can’t make it fit any way I happy with.

    Feedback would be much appreciated!

    1. Stocker’s practice match performance seemed a little bit experimental.

Saints wanted to get a look at him, Sinclair took a back seat and their back six was pretty unaccountable. I liked the look of parts of his game but Jones, Cole and Crozier all much better options.

Jackson comes back and mercs Treacy I think?

    1. Probably just one of your F6-8 to Phillipou. Uses your 56k ITB and would much rather roll the dice with straight fielding him over a small at Essendon or forward at the Hawks.

      Great stuff as a whole.

  24. re-post: no Constable on Def line

Def: Stewart, Docherty, Yeo, H. Clark , Cole, Ginbey (Cowan, Gillbee)

Mid: Oliver, Macrae, Brayshaw, Cripps, Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie, Phillips, (Constable, Baker, Cincotta)

    Ruck: English, Marshall (McAndrew)

Fwd: Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Gulden, Philipou, Greene (Stone, Davey)

Gillbee swappable with Constable or Cincotta or used for loophole. Otherwise tried to go light on Def Rookies. Chancing on both Yeo and Clark to make some money and later become upgrades to premiums. Cole missed all of 2022 but in 2021 averaged much better than his current starting price. Listening to commentary from that ex. West Coast full back (forget his name) Cole will be a regular. Gone Callaghan over Hopper – just feel like he’ll increase bake more. Otherwise the rest is pretty cookie cutter.

    Any feedback welcomed

    1. Great side, RF.

Only change I’d suggest would be sacking Clark and re-investing up FWD. Clark is a flop and probably don’t want to field more than 1 of this year’s FWD rookies.

    1. It’s tricky, Hudson.

I grabbed him late last year when my rank was shot and he worked out really well.

On a clear premium trajectory, an immense talent and now firmly a pure midfielder.

Dogs performance a bit unsettling, I get it, but if you still back him to do 110 then I think he’s fine as a starter. Gun to my head I’d saaaaaaaay…yeah, he’s still solid.

Opens the season against the Eagles.

Went Ridley over Yeo as he looked like he struggled in the practice match.
Went Worp over Hopper as Worp had that breakout year when Titch was out with a broken leg in 2019, and now has the opportunity to step up and take that role.
Sticking with Ziebell with Clarkson taking over the Roos this season, as he looks like he’s playing that role in defence again.

Other option is to put Yeo back in for Ridley at D3 and upgrade Ziebell to Gulden at F3

  30. Hi everyone – would love some advice on current team

Stewart Docherty Yeo Ginbey McKenna Constable (Wilmot Cowan)

Laird Oliver Bont Green Hopper Callaghan Ashcroft McKenzie ( Phillips Baker Cincotta)

    Marshall Cameron (Madden)

Dunkley Taranto Rozee Gulden Sheezel Phillipou (Greene Davey)

Happy with structure and rookies but have concerns on Cameron and not having Bruhn!!

Considered Stewart to Ridley then Cameron to a Gawn/English/Darcy/Witts (which one??) OR
    Phillipou/Phillips (which one??)

Could also just whack the 63k onto McKenna and get Jones?

Obviously can see how things go after first few rounds but would really appreciate some thoughts as best way to start?

      1. Hey Fishxma

Great bones of a team here. I would take your own advice on Stewart to Ridley in order to upgrade Cameron in the Ruck. McKenna up to L Jones maybe worth the cash, as Jones seems to have rock solid JS and McKenna spot in the team is still a little up in the air. He could even be a sub risk on current form.

Structure wise its hard to fit in both Finn Call and Bruhn. I have reluctantly dropped Finn Call allowing Phillips on field. This allows you to go Pou up to Bruhn.

I hope this helps ? Best of luck this year.

    1. Hey Nick.

Solid side here. I just feel paying up for those three $600K defenders and both the top priced mids, leaves other areas of your team a bit thin. I would prefer just one of Rat or Pou at F6 and maybe try to upgrade Cameron at R2. You may also need to upgrade Drury at F8 as he was nowhere to be seen in the preseason games.

Overall a solid team , maybe just need to hunt for slightly more value with some of those premium selections to allow for funds to get the best rookies.

      Best of luck this year.

    1. Hey TOF

I saw Stocker interviewed post game, He mentioned Ross likes his versatility and mentioned he may play multiple roles this year. If we knew he was across half back he maybe viable. Unfortunately it seems he has become the Saints Mr Fix it and theres no guarantees he will secure a decent role.

Liam Jones is just a few K more and his role and JS are solid as a rock. I would prefer him to Stocker at this stage.

Not a fan of fielding many rookies in the forward line as most don’t look like they will score well. Hence, I’ve gone for a deeper fwd line with the likes of Bruhn and Flanders who I think will make good coin. Some decisions im tossing up with is between players such as Worpel and Darcy. I could switch both of them to Callaghan and Witts.

    Thoughts would be appreciated 🙂

TU: Stewart DEF + Phillipou FWD

I feel like obviously Gulden is the risk, but he (and Jones) may only go up in price… Surely Stewart can be picked up later?

Quite like it. Been debating with myself over Steele vs Dawson. If I were to go Dawson, I’d move Constable into mids, then swap Davey and Dunkley and play Rats onfield. I don’t hate the idea of starting Dunkley (or any of those mid/fwd premiums) in the mids as I think the forwards run deep with a few valued options.
Might think its a bit risky running with Callaghan and Flanders but they could easily be a Hopper/Rookie, I just don’t like the rookie options available. Especially forwards. There isn’t any trust in any of them this year.

Feel there is a bit of flexibility with this lineup. Let me know your thoughts. I’ll put a little comment below with a Steele vs Dawson question because I’d like everyone’s opinion. Cheers!

    2. Personally running Sturt at F7, putting Rat on field and converting Mackenzie to Hopper.
I get the risk on Rat, but the role is good. The ruck cover is even better. And certainly justifies the risk.

I think you will have around 30k in the bank. If Rat does tank in the first couple of weeks, by Rd 3 you will need only one if Henry, Sheezel, Philippou, McLean, King, Bruce or Humphrey to fire to have a ready made replacement.
Can’t fault Mackenzie’s match, but his role in a weak team worries me.
I see Hopper + Rat as 90+50=140. I see Mackenzie plus Flanders as 55+70=125.

Just my view. Your team is real solid and this is a minor tinker only.

    1. I like it Steve. I personally have question marks over McLean, Menzie and Phillipou. the rookies will be good players but I think they will be really slow for cash gen and may become liabilities on-field with their scoring. Maybe running a loop hole player (Madden) helps. Frees yourself up some cash, and helps by giving you ruck back up with putting rats in your forwards. I didn’t notice Menzie when I had the game on, to be fair. So not to sure on him, but for that price I feel you could probably get Phillips instead and he’d be a better option…?

Stating the bleeding obvious but picking rookies with good JS and not a ‘sub risk’ in or out is going to be key – second rucks or talls with a low tank/slow could also be susceptible. Not happy with Mitchells lukewarm response to Mackenzie being in the first team – hence a few possible other options.
Set and forget rucks (can I say that this year?). Gawn to any other ruck if he doesn’t do what he did in the final pre-season game.
Can Titch be the SC pig he once was with Lipinski out, N. Daicos tagged and a coach who wants to play him in his natural Pen?
Happy with the forward line if Fyfe stays on the park AND kicks 50 goals this season!
Cumming and Ridley a gamble in the back line but only way to free up cash for the ruck and forward lines (probably the most effective distributors/SC conducive roles in their respective backlines – Whits role for GWS?).
Laird has quite a few games at home in the first half of the year and no opposition coach feels the need to tag him.
Bont should spend a fair bit more time in the guts given the forwards that the Dogs have, no Dunks and he’ll still kick a goal or two per game.
Break out years for T. Green, Hopper,,, Titch and Fyfe!

    SC is sooo simple LOL!

    1. This team is so close..

You have nailed a heap of the rookies, I just think structure wise it’s a little off.

For me you have slightly over spent in defence. Cole should be on field if your spending that much cash and Ginbey will be fine on field so I would look at dropping one of those $600K defenders to Wilmont and get Phillipou up to a Tom Green type in the Midfield.

If you have left over cash look to upgrade a base rookie to a mid pricer in the forward line. Flanders / Bruhn etc.

      Best of luck

      1

      0
      1. Thanks FT….the idea is to have every rookie possible/available first, then fill the gaps with best available on each line…..thus the expensive defenders. If they go off, great, if not, anyone can be traded. I’m not sold on Wilmot, but he could also be first corrective trade r3.

        2

        0
        1. Yes you want the best rookies for cash gen , but you still want the best rookies on field. The goal is still to score points. Ginbey and Cole should easily outscore Phillipou and Hollands hence the structural adjustment.

Wilmont or even one of the Carlton boys should be fine as defensive bench options.

    2. Hey Nateo

I had a very similar structure until recently. I just felt it was a little too forward heavy. We may get a few DPP forwards as the year goes on ( Petracca, Gawn, Grundy just from Melbourne ) and leaving just one spot feels a little risky.

I ended up dropping Cogs to a mid pricer and upgrading Finn Call. I somehow feel better starting 4 solid midfielders as well.

I’m sure this structure can work I just personally feel better with “just”the 4 Premo forwards.

  54. For a bit of fun I am trying to get some PODs into my team. Here is where I have come around to…

Docherty, Ridley, Bowes, Ginbey, Wilmot, Constable. Montgomery,Cincotta

Laird, Oliver, Bont, Petracca, De Goey, Bruhn, Ashcroft, Phillips. Baker, Chesser, Davey

    Marshall, Lycett. Maddern

Dunkley, Butters, Rozee, Gulden, Fyfe, Chandler. Greene, Caminiti

    POD talk..

Bowes – I’m a Cats fan and I reckon he plays. Scottie saw enough in the first half of the first practice match and pulled him from the ground and he has been preparing behind closed doors ever since. Typical Scottie ploy this one. Cats play early in the round so we will know soon enough if a change is required..

Petracca – I’m betting those kicking efficiency issues from last year will be ironed out over pre-season and punting that he will be the premier player in the comp in 2023.

De Goey – big pre-season seems to be going unnoticed. Traditionally starts slow but this is the best chance he becomes the player we saw in the finals last year for a full season..

Lycett – should go at least 90 and that’s enough to wait and see on the other rucks.

Butters – everyone else going for Taranto and I get it. Just think this guy is a better footballer. Taranto’s ball use has always been an issue and hence why he is better suited to AFL fantasy.
Gulden – no longer a POD (Sigh!) but good chance to break out.
Bruhn – no longer a POD (Sigh!) but looks classy.
Ridley – no longer a POD (Sigh!) but is a proven scorer if the role is right. Evidence in the preseason suggests he’s going back to that role..

Laird – I want get the 100k from taking him down to another premo but with 5 out of first 6 games at home I just can’t do it. May be a chance to trade after round 6 for a record price – I remember the SC winner a few years back pulled a similar stunt so may be worth some consideration..

    1. The DeeOne.

Going a POD just for the sake of it is very risky indeed. There’s a reason we don’t pick some players and presuming you know more than the masses often back fires dramatically. As you can see with player like Ridley , Bruhn etc, even if you are lucky enough to nail a POD they don’t stay that way for long. So why take the risk ?

We don’t know where Bowes will play and his injury history suggests they may even ease him in. He could even be a sub risk. De Goey is not only a rollercoaster scoring wise, his injury history and off field follies mean he misses a heap of games. Petracca is a jet but paying $600k plus for a guy that looks like spending a fair chunk of game time forward is not a great idea. 1 or 2 bad games and the rest of the comp will get him for $60-$80k cheaper. Butters is injury prone also and has already had shoulder issues. If he goes down early and scores a 20 and Taranto goes big you are instantly 100 points and a trade behind the pack in just one week. Taranto has been a butcher in the past but went at 75% efficiency on the weekend and is better suited to the Tigs game style.

If you are truely considering Lycett go back and watch him in the last practice game. He looked slow and had only about 60% game time. Relying on him to average 90+ after missing so much footy is a pipe dream.

Basically going a heap of pods is setting your self up to fail. Theres a very slim chance they all fire and you rocket to the top. Theres a MUCH bigger chance most of them fail and you’re spending a heap of trades playing catch up. There’s plenty of chance to trade into under owned players as the season goes on.

Try and treat you team as if you really are their Coach. Do you really want risky players just for the sake of it ? Or would you prefer proven guns that get the job done ?

Please take this comment the right way . I have learnt this lesson the hard way so theres no reason for you to waste a season doing it as well.

      Best of luck in 2023.

      1. Thanks FT. All valuable insights on the players I am thinking of. On reflection, I think you need a POD or maybe push it out to 2. But yeah you are right – 4-5 pods will almost certainly blow up badly. Injury predictions based on history are the interesting ones. Last year I had incredible luck with previously injured players, the year before it was a disaster.

        Good luck in 2023..

        1. DeeOne.

Starting a few PODs is fine. I wouldn’t really recommend more than one on each line though and maybe not in the Ruck line. My rule is they should at least be mostly durable and have SC friendly roles. I love trading in PODs during the year as it can really set your team apart. I write a fortnightly post during the season called “Rare Gems” that explores the low owned options you may want to consider. If you’re looking at starting a few PODs, here are some players under 5% owned I think can work.

    1. Hey Emma

Great team , very balanced structure and solid Premo selections. I’m not sure Callaghan will score much better than McKenzie so I would consider downgrading him. Laird and Oliver is a huge spend that kind of leaves you a little exposed in the ruck. I would consider downgrading one to a ~$600K mid and upgrading Cameron.
All your bench rookies should play so I really like this team.

    1. Hey Jack.

The biggest issues I see are Lloyd and Windhager.

Lloyd is well past his best and Blakey and the swans new game style have dried up his scoring stream.

Windhager has a hand injury and looks like getting a tagging role anyway. I would look at swapping him out for Flanders or Bruhn.

Also if you like Fyfe play him forward rather than O Allen. Without Nic Nat The Weagles may struggle to get him enough ball early.

McKenzie looks a likely rookie you can put in to replace Fyfe in the midfield.

      Best of luck this year.

Defs: Dawson, Ridley, Daicos, Jones, Ginbey, Constable (Wilmot, Cincotta)
Mids: Laird, Oliver, Bontempelli, Green, Hopper, Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie (Hollands, Baker, Drury)
    Rucks: O’Brien, Marshall (Madden)
Fwds: Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Fyfe, Ratugolea, Phillipou (Greene, Davey)

    $36,700 left in the bank.

Would appreciate all thoughts on this squad, especially the Defensive Premo’s, R1 and choice between Fyfe/Bruhn.

    1. Solid team Cameron.

ROB at R1 is my main concern. I much prefer Darcy around that price. I would also personally back in the talent of a young Sheezel than Ratugolea. you seem to have the cash to make that happen.

I’m probably going to start Bruhn over Fyfe if Bruhn is named as a Midfielder.

      Best of luck this year.

  60. Hi Guys . Gone a bit radical this year . Not sure if its a great idea .

My thinking is if the mid pricers arent working options for other mid pricers to trade early. ie Fyfe, Magrath, Ward Worpel Nuke,Day,Cox,Fogarty to name a few.
Doc, Dawson, Yeo, Jones, Gibney, Constable ……. Cincotta, Cowan
Laird,Cripps, Green, Setterfield, Hopper, Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie.
    Bytel, Baker, Chesser
    Witts, Marshall ….MacAndrew
    Dunkley,Rozee,Gulden,Taranto,Bruhn, Flanders…Greene, Davey

Appreciate feedback.. I know its a bit left field

  62. No idea where to actually post this Q, so will see how I go in this thread … I am trying to find a good format for a mates league where we all start with exactly the same ‘average’ team and have to try and prove who is really the best coach and trademaster. Anyone done similar? Looking for something new (and we have done DRAFT). Thanks

    1. Yeah absolutely, CJ.

Called a Tech League – or atleast that’s what we call it here. You all start with the same kinda whack team (picks can be based on ownership %, maybe 2 players from each team or anything really) and then you go from there.

All about trading through the season.

Get in touch with JimmyDee if you want ideas, he runs the SCT Tech League.

  63. Tossing up a final move before settling on my team until we inch closer to the R1 line-ups. What do we think fellas.

Tu) Dawson (110) and Flanders (70)

Td) Coniglio (105) and Yeo (85)

TD moves Gulden to F5, Yeo D3. And also allows me to move the worst of TT, Rozee, Cogs at their bye for a Gawn / Tracca type if they get DPP.

  64. Did someone leave the gate open? I’m not seeing many cows this year.

    Sicily , Doc , Yeo , Jones , Ginbey , Constable ( Wilmot , Gillbee )

    Laird , Bont , Steele , Green , Hopper , Ashcroft , Mackenzie , Phillips ( Johnson , Baker , Cincotta )

    Marshall, Draper ( McAndrew )

    Dunkley , Cogs , Rozee , Gulden , Fyfe , Sheezel ( Poo , Greene )

    7.5k left
Bench rookies are subject to green dots.

Draper Draper Draper…. I chopped and changed day and night trying to get Witts in, but the rookies this year have given me the mid price madness and I fear there is no cure. I will have no boosts left by round 8 good luck gentlemen

  65. DEF: Sic, Dawson, Yeo, Ginbey, McKenna, Constable (Wilmot, Chesser)

MID: Oliver, Bont, Brayshaw, Green, Whitfield, Hopper, Ashcroft, Bytel (Phillips, Baker, Cincotta)

    RUC: English, Marshall (McAndrew)

FWD: Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Bruhn, Phillipou, Greene (Sturt, Davey)

Would love any feedback. Whitfield is there purely for a POD and I think he will get the HB role that could see him return some big scores and gain DPP status. If not, can trade down and upgrade my forward rookies.

    1. Nice team Dusty.

      Love the Brayshaw pick 😉

Greene at F6 is a bit of a worry. I would prefer Phillips at M8 and you get another Forward.( Gulden maybe ? ) This could work though if you’re 100% sold on Whitfield.

      1. Thanks mate,

Could do Whitfield – Weedle (Via Chesser DPP)
        Then Greene – Gulden

Definitely something I will give thought too, thanks for the input! Forward line looks so much better with only one rookie on field!!

        1. No worries.

I would keep Greene though he will have better JS than Sturt.

I’m also not sure Weddle plays so maybe leave Chesser and push Davey to the Mid bench.

  66. Hey Big Brett.

Draper will have you tearing your hair out. I would consider Cogs down to Taranto and Poo to A Davey just to free up enough cash to upgrade Draper. Even Cameron sharing, should average 20 points more than Draper and he’s only $60k dearer.

    Best of luck this year.

    1. Hey as a bombers fan I don’t disagree with you
Weids coming in and being able to chop out means Phillips won’t be sharing this year so I’m gonna back the big fella to score the same as Cameron and hopefully take the step forward I thought he would last year.

(Just gonna block the saints pre season game from my mind)

Davey probably gets a mid bench spot but I’m not a big fan of picking bombers players in SuperCoach because I end up hating them…

(Timmy T could average 150 and I still wouldn’t grab him after what he did to me last year)

    1. Chesser – Highly rated and playing in a, poor team that is probably looking to rebuild.

McKenna – In a premiership fancy side with Coleman and Rich already in the side and battling for a spot with Wilmot. Apparently still a bit rusty in the praccy matches too.

  70. Is having Sheezle on bench at F7 dumb? Forward line is Dunks, Rozee, Taranto, Gulden, Bruhn and Flanders!
TU Still good idea for cash gen and emergency
TD too much to not be on field. Trade!

(PS for those thinking just move Flanders to the midfield that would mean benching MacKenzie!!!)

  72. Current backline has Constable and Ginbey ….

T/U Cameron (R2) and Jones (would be D4)

T/D English/Darcy (R1) and risk one of Cincotta/Wilmot/Cowan/Chesser playing at D6 (others on bench) – if this the option which combo at R1 and D6 would u have?

  73. i’m fairly happy with my team, except for two positions.

    R1 (already have Marshall)
    F5

I have $850,000 to spend on these two positions.

Currently i have Grundy & Bruhn, but neither selection i’m 100% happy with.

Any suggestions of $850k would be great.

My forward line is: Dunkley, Cogs, Rozee, Taranto, Bruhn, M’Lean

    1. Hi Derek

Starting with F5. If that is Flanders, then it will allow you to go up to Darcy or English. I prefer Darcy. There is concern that Jackson might impact Darcy. But given Jackson didn’t really impact Gawn’s scoring too much, this fear might be slightly overblown. Flanders has shown many good signs in the preseason. My concern on Flanders would be his role. What we saw in the practice game without Touk is unlikely to be his normal role.

If F5 is Fyfe. Around the same price as Bruhn. Fyfe is such a polarizing selection. I have seen good coaches on here make strong arguments on here for and against Fyfe. This probably leaves with you Grundy, unless you want to come down a bit to Cameron, Jackson, Lycett or Ladhams. Only Ladhams interests me from that lot. Jackson and Cameron won’t be top 10 forwards in my opinion, and we might get Gawn or Grundy gaining DPP in round 6. Lycett was in my team until I read about he has had a managed preseason and was still building up. He was awful in the practice match. Ladhams has some interest with Hickey out. It’s Lycett #2 in that we are hoping for a placeholder that might improve while we get to see who emerges. But he just feels like a slightly better option.

If Ziebell is your F5, then you have basically the same ruck choices as Fyfe., except Grundy. Of all the F5 selections, I believe this is the strongest. Has the role and a proven scoring history in the role. Of the other F5 possibilities we actually haven’t seen them score in their role.

But the ruck choices are bleak.

So I am not seeing a combo where both will make you happy. Can only suggest choosing at least an F5 or a ruck that makes you happy and hide behind the couch whenever your other selection plays.

      1. Great advice! I had never considered that a couch could help you decide on your your final team selection and really like this idea.

  74. Appreciate any feedback on my latest iteration:

DEF: Sicily, Dawson, Yeo, Ginbey, Mckenna, Constable (Wilmot, Weddle)

MID: Merrett, Green, Warner, Mitchell, Setterfield, Hopper, Ashcroft, Philips (Baker, Davey, Cincotta)

    RUCK: Darcy, Marshall (McAndrew)

FWD: Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Gulden, Ziebell, Phillipou (Sheezel, Drury)

    $17.7k remaining

    2
    1. My concern would be, who’s your captain going to be? You’ve got guys who can score plenty, but might be worth finding the cash to upgrade say, Merrett to a Clarry or Laird. Gives you a captain lock in the early stages before you’re able to upgrade

  75. Very different look for my team today.
    Y/N to the PODS????

DEF: Doch, Cumming, Yeo, Jones, Ginbey, Wilmot (Constable, Cowan)
MID: Clarry, B.Smith, T.Green, Titch, Hopper, Bruhn, Callaghan, Ashcroft (Baker, Drury, Cincotta)
    RUCK: Darcy, Marshall (McAndrew)
FWD: Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Gulden, Ziebell, Pou (Greene, Davey)

Basically gone Dawson down to Cumming as POD and Macrae down to B.Smith to get extra cash to upgrade Worpel to Titch.
My thinking is with Lippa out and Daicos likely to get the tag it’ll free him up? And why such little love for Bazlenka?????

TU: Take the risks with the PODS
TD: Ur an idiot, get Dawson, Macrae and Worpel back in.

  76. What’s Constable’s job security like? Weller and Powel are almost ready to come back into that backline. Constable might not see a price increase before he is dropped.

    0

    1. Agree it is questionable. But he’s 124k, with DPP got a nice role. Plus I think he will deliver reasonable scores while he plays. If you have say Wilmot/Cowan (Cincotta) or Chesser on your def /mid bench, then the risk is mitigated. Effectively having 3 defenders on the bench to cover him, makes me feel like he’s a risk worth taking.

Last year I didn’t choose Brodie because I thought his JS was shaky as Fyfe was due back in a few weeks. Fyfe’s return got further delayed and Brodie made himself indispensable. Not saying Constable is this years Brodie, but possession is 9/10 of the law! And the good thing about Weller especially is his versatility. If Constable performs and Weller comes back, they could find another spot for him.

  77. I felt a lot more strapped for cash this year. Trying to fit in my premos along with all these mid pricers proved tricky but this is what I ended up with. Rookies obviously placeholders until selection.

DEF: Sicily, Dawson, Yeo, Jones, Ginbey, Constable (Wilmot, Cincotta)

MID: Laird, Oliver, Bont, Green, Hopper, Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie (Phillips, Baker, Chesser)

    RUC: Darcy, Marshall (Madden)

FWD: Dunkley, Taranto, Gulden, Bruhn, Flanders, Sheezel (Davey, Drury)
    ITB: 14.3K

It hurts not to start 12 certified keepers but I’m hoping a couple of my midpricers and more expensive rookies step up as possible keepers or just generate mad cash! Would love other coaches thoughts, with one week left to go I wish you all the best with your preparations!

    Cheers,
    Bomb

Going with lots of Mid only midpricers and only have room for 2 premo mids. The extra $$$ will be handy.
