  4. DEF – Daicos, houstan, sheezel
    Young, Williams, gibcus (Reid, Howes)
MID – bont, Trac, Dawson, green
    Martin, mckercher, sanders, hustwaite
    (Roberts, sharp, Clark)
    Ruck – gawndy (Naismith)

FOR – fish, fyfe, Jordan, Reid
    Lazaro, sexton (Wilson, Camden)

$23k in bank. Rookies will change around but think I’m happy with premos.

Have a bit of a pod that I’ve seen in Trac. Haven’t seen one team on social media with him! He was insane for me last year even with Oliver in so I am a little biased. Could work out might not but worth a try!

Was stuck on Dawson vs butters vs gulden but have settled on Dawson thanks to your guys votes.

Won my cash league against all odds last year! Keen for the season and go blues.

Any ideas or advice please reply! Love some constructive feedback. Good luck legends

    1. nice team, liking the Newcombe pick.

I’ve got Lyons too but wasn’t sure which one of Fyfe/Lyons/Bonner/Berry to get.

Jackson over Gawn a solid pick based on injury to Darcy, I risked it too and gone Gawnless, could massively backfire but will reassess after the early byes which of the premo rucks to go for out of Gawn/English/Marshall and drop Jackson, if this is when Darcy comes back from injury.

  6. is Butters 100% fit? i heard he hurt an ankle that he had already injured this preseason.

I like Rozee as well for a few dollars less

    1. I heard on a podcast the other day he is all good ready to go for round 1. Could be false I’m not 100% sure. If he is ruled out I’ll go LDU or rozee

  7. What do we think? Have taken a premo out of the mid for Fyfe to get Jackson and Flanders in, which impacted my structure a little bit:

DEF: Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Bowes, Coffield. Gibcus, Reid.
MID: Bont, Green, Miller, Steele, Martin, Fyfe, McKercher, Sanders. Roberts, Sharp, Clarke.
    RUCK: Gawn, Grundy. Livingstone.
FWD: Jackson, Flanders, Fisher, Jordon, Reid, Sexton. Windsor, Wilson.

I wasn’t keen on going down a premo in the mid however I feel Jackson is a huge have because of the ambiguity around Darcy and I see them being hyper cautious with him due to his history of injury etc. Flanders played himself back into a spot last week however do the Suns play that well every week?

  8. Is 4 premo down back the strat? Went with 5 team in midfield but still undecided.

DEF: Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Gibcus, Coffield – Reid, Phillips
MID: Bont, Green, Miller, Steele, Wines, Mckercher, Sanders, Roberts – Hustwaite, Sharp, Clark
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy – Naismith
FWD: Flanders, Heeney, Fisher, Fyfe, Jordon, Reid – Sexton, Wilson

Kept some coin as I’m rolling the dice with some selection staying fit.

    1. Hey Wighty! The q here is which dusty you get… if you get 22 game 100+ dusty then I’d go that way.Butters will do 15-20 more than Martin imo, so it’s if you think the diff tween lipinski(smith role?) and dusty is that…. Just my two cents and all the best for the season and all the worst for bombers 🙂

    2. Hey Wighty!

Nick Martin looks good in his new role and is a talent, should be very SC friendly with upside.
Butters is a high price for good reasons but I don’t think will move too much in price, I’m going Martin in my mix.

Hopefully this is the year we play a full year out – Go Bombers

I Selected Newcombe and Mackenzie as a little point of difference to a Nic Martin/ wines or a Fyfe, both should make money.

  21. (Nearly) final version of my team, selection announcements pending…

DEF: Daicos, Wilkie, Young, ZWilliams, Gibcus, Howes (Reid, Phillips)
MID: Bontempelli, Dawson, Green, Rozee, NMartin, Holmes, Sanders, Roberts (Carroll, JClark, CStephens)
    RUC: Grundy, Xerri (Livingstone)
FOR: Jackson, Flanders, Rankine, Jordon, Sexton, Wilson (Cadman, Khamis)

    A few justifications/explanations…
    – Side is close to Guns & Rookies as I’ve ever been. Have largely resisted the temptation for midpricers this year.
    – After avoiding double bye players, I simply decided that the points I expect Daicos, Green, Grundy and to a lesser extent Flanders to make in increased points/captaincy was worth the risk.
    – I went from being 4 premo plus D’Ambrosio to this. After thinking the defensive rookies were a bust, I suddenly like the options there. Reverse is true for Forwards.
    – Wilkie is an underated, reliable POD. Not a bad thing to have a guy like that around, especially in defence. Had Sheezel for ages in the team, but half of North’s list is playing across HB apparently. I don’t think he’ll go down, but probably won’t go up a great deal either. Maybe.
    – I had Hustwaite for a long time, same with McKercher & Reid, but those high-price rookies scare me. Given the choice, I’ll usually plump for the lower-prices rookie and put my money into premos elsewhere.
    – Rolled the dice on Holmes vs Wines
    – The rucks is probably the biggest gamble. Call me crazy, but I don’t trust Gawn. I try to keep to a “no players older than 30 rule” and more to the point, I don’t trust Melbourne. Both Grundy and Xerri should see growth in average but I just don’t see rucks as the solid gold captain option they used to be.
    – Rankine is set to explode this year I think. I haven’t looked how many early games the Crows have, but he could be a handy VC option.
    – I had Rayner all through the leadup until switching him out for Flanders last week. I wouldn’t be surprised though if he builds his avergae by 10-15 pts.
    – Khamis could be a smokey. Dogs are thin in the KPD stocks it seems to me.

  22. DEF – N. Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Z. Will, Howes, Coffield (Gibcus, Z. Reid)

    RUC – Jackson, Grundy (Livingstone)

FWD – Flanders, Heeney, Jordon, Reid, Sexton, D. Wilson (Cadman, Mannagh)

Not sure if I should upgrade Z. Will to Houston & downgrade Rowell to Lyons or Mckercher & possibly moving Jackson to Gawn (to just set & forget).

    Any feedback welcomed.

I’m so torn on him I’d have to upgrade lazzaro and probably have to compromise my premiums going Dawson and Houston to LDU and young to find the cash.

  33. already looking at where to go with gibcus next week:

TU: trade dawson to sam berry now, allowing to straight swap gibcus to houston next week

  34. With Gibcus news, is it worth dropping Jackson from F1 to lazzaro at F5 and going 4 deep in defense by adding T Stewart?

    Or leave as is.

Current def structure: Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Gibcus, Howes (Reid, Coffield)

Fwds: Jackson, Flanders, Fisher, Jordan, Reid, sexton (Wilson, Cadman)

    1. Tu – change
      Td – leave

Trying to look at starting likely keepers as im sure we will need the trades for injuries and corrections

      1

      4
    2. If you have the cash? (most haven’t). Stewart is like $635k and Jackson only $547k so you would have to restructure further so I wouldn’t do it. Would be hard to fit Houston either so the only other I would consider would be Wanganeen-Milera.
But prob not, just leave the structure how it is and go Gibcus to Hore/Dean/Pink.

  35. i’ve made a few changes to my team since early march

English > Gawn (Save $132k) – having flashbacks to last year without English. Plan is to trade Grundy to English round 5.

Fyfe > Fisher (Cost $95k) – Fyfe didn’t suck me in last year, and lets not test our luck this year

Houston > Green (Cost $30k) – Green was always going to be in my team

Now have 3 premiums with early bye (Green, Grundy & Gawn), they have different byes so should cover them ok. Will look at trading Grundy round 5.

I have $40k itb, so can go Stewart to Daicos and follow the crowd, but i’m happy to back Stewart’s 6 rounds to outscore Daicos’s 5 rounds plus a rookie score.

  36. With extra backline rookies popping up, is it worth bringing in an extra mid premo. Last two team options below

    T/U – Houston & Sharp/Mannagh (M11)
    D6 = Howe/Coffield
    M8 = Roberts

    T/D – Hore & Butters
    D5/D6 = Howe/Hore/Coffield

  37. With the Gibcus injury last night, which way is best to go regarding his replacement?

Tu; Start an extra defensive premium, move daicos into the mids this week, swing him back next week and look at brining in a MID/FWD rookie for Gibcus.

Td; Straight swap to DEFENDER rookie
    (Pink/Hore ect)

Current defensive rookies are; Williams, Reid, Howes & Coffield. I’m sure others are in a similar situation. Perhaps depends on the JS of Pink from Nth Melb? Thoughts appreciated!

  38. After some tinkering, I think I am finally settled.. I have gone:
    Dawson -> Rozee
    Lazzaro -> J.Jordan
    Gawn -> Marshall.

DEF: Daicos Houston Sheezel Zilliams Howes Coffield (Gibcus Reid)

MID: Bont Green Rozee NMartin Wines Bonner Sanders McKercher (Wilson Clark Roberts)

    RUCK: Marshall Grundy (livingstone)

FWD: Flanders Heeney Fisher Jordan Reid Sexton (Burgess Cadman)

    BANK: $22,100

I am pretty happy overall with steucture but still have a little voice on my shoulder saying I must swap Heeney or Flanders to Jackson. But that requires finding another $31k and I already had to reshuffle to get lazzaro up to Jordan.. any thoughts on this team? Cheers

    1. Feel like there is no noise about the SC ramifications for Liam Reidy being selected in Freo’s extended squad. Still a chance to play this week, definitely a chance to play in the next few weeks. Jackson not worth it if he isn’t No.1 Ruck
      Thoughts?

      0

      1
      1. Yeah this has entered my thoughts SCTank we’d know by tonight.. but I don’t think reidy plays this weekend or any week I think he’s just there purely for if Jackson had a training injury or got ill they have reidy on their emergency list and there fore easier to name if need be. I think Jackson solo rucks the next month.

I like that Jackson has no bye, creates ruck cover for me and can match both heeney and Flanders without shrek. But it’s the elevated price that makes it difficult for alot of people.. I think all 3 can be season keepers in the forward line.

        2

    2. Nice one. You’ll be able to sleep at night with that team now! Love the Marshall/Rozee picks and the minor sacrifices with that. I’m too stubborn to give up my prem mids but wish I could Marshall in. Not wild about the Wines/Bonner but its what you have to do with the juggle.

  39. Hi Coaches,

Is it worth Downgrading to Jackson to Lazzaro and moving Roberts to bench to field:
    Mannagh > S.Berry
    Gawn > English
    Flanders > Butters

    T/U Yes
    T/D No

    5

    1
  40. Huge SC ramifications for Liam Reidy being selected in Freo’s extended squad for Luke Jackson. Reidy still a chance to play this week, and definitely more than half a chance to play in the next few weeks while Darcy is out. This will mean Jackson will play more forward and is not worth picking him.
    Thoughts?

    0

    6
    1. All teams have back up rucks as emergency incase the main ruckman gets an illness or injury before first bounce. Don’t read too much into it.

Treacy will ruck when Jackson needs a rest

      5

  41. Who has the better JS?

    TU: Hore
    TD: Coffield

I’ll probably grab the other for gibcus next week anyway if named again but want to lock in the best of the two this week.

    0

    6
  42. For those going with Jackson fwd, are you playing a non-playing 102k ruc/fwd rookie R3 (Maley?), or filling that spot with a playing ruck? Maybe Sweet?

Missed Briggs last year due to the fwd swing setup, even though he was a bit more expensive… in two minds about it

    3

    0
    1. Gotta have the DPP at R3 for the flexibility if your running Jackson in my opinion.
You’d kick yourself if your R1 or R2 copped a one or two week injury or suspension and couldn’t cover..

I don’t even have a ruckman in my forward line but still running DPP at R3 incase I grab Jackson mid season and can use the swing in the second half of the year.. that’s probably thinking too far ahead though haha
