Collingwood (10.12.72) defeated by Geelong (15.7.97)

  1. Ollie Dempsey (127). The only Cat to crack the top five, Dempsey played his role to perfection once again, this week having 29 touches (10 contested) plus 10 marks, 2 majors and 4 clearances.
  2. Nick Daicos (125). Had Mullin for company but essentially broke that, collecting a game best 35 touches (13 contested) plus 9 clearances, 7 inside 50s and 494 metres gained.
  3. Darcy Cameron (121). Great game from Cameron, constantly filling holes and filling up the stat sheet, this week thanks to 22 touches (15 contested) plus 7 marks and 29 hitouts.
  4. Dan McStay (110). His strong form continues, this week snagging a career best 5 goals from 10 disposals, while also adding 9 tackles and 8 hitouts.
  5. Josh Daicos (104). Rounds out the top five, collecting 33 touches with 4 marks, 5 tackles and 467 metres gained off half-back.

Other 100+ scores: Ollie Henry (103)

Disappointment: Smith (79) the worst offender. De Goey (74) has been elite until now, while Houston (73) again struggled, but might see more of the ball with the Pies injuries.

Rookies: Nothing that spectacular for the Pies with Harrison (53) leading Anderson (42), Puncher (36) and West (33). The Cats had the usual suspects in Edwards (77), Clark (76), Polkinghorne (59) and Wiltshire (50).

Injuries: A double blow for the Pies with Perryman (hamstring) and Howe (arm) being named on the injury report.

 

Fremantle (11.12.78) defeated Western Bulldogs (5.11.41)

  1. Oscar McDonald (142). Don’t think many would’ve picked him to lead this games scoring, but did so with a fluent outing of 22 touches and 12 marks, 495 metres gained and 91% DE.
  2. Tim English (131). 15 touches (9 contested) for the Bulldogs ruckman, also adding 5 marks, 4 tackles and 27 hitouts, with plenty to advantage.
  3. Karl Worner (123). Solid as ever down back, Worner finished Friday night with 28 touches @ 86% DE with 10 intercepts, 8 score involvements, 13 marks and 604 metres gained.
  4. Ed Richards (117). Had an influence which boosted his score, finishing the game with 26 touches (14 contested), 3 goal assists, 9 clearances, 9 inside 50s and 752 metres gained.
  5. Josh Treacy (116). Rounds out the top five, finishing Friday night with 13 touches, 8 marks and 3 majors for the game.

Other 100+ scores: Caleb Serong (102)

Disappointment: Bontempelli (61) was hardly sighted, Jackson (77) was better than what his score suggests. Few more with Bolton (78) and Clark (85) not being that involved.

Rookies: Once again no rookies for the Dockers, so straight to the Bulldogs. Hynes (92) led them backing up a few solid games, coming in ahead of Dolan (59), Jones (58), Sellwood (49) and Emmett (14).

Injuries: Clean cards for both teams.

 

St Kilda (13.10.88) defeated by Sydney (16.11.107)

  1. Errol Gulden (144). Key to the Swans win, Gulden found 34 touches (12 contested) @ 85% DE plus 7 clearances, 6 inside 50s, 1 goal and 648 metres gained.
  2. Max Hall (139). Solid as ever, Hall has become one of the elite links in the AFL, this week having 23 touches (11 contested) with 3 goals, 6 tackles and 458 metres gained.
  3. Callum Wilkie (121). Held down the fort, clamping 13 marks (3 contested) plus 26 touches @ 92% DE and 9 rebounds from 50.
  4. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (117). Started on fire but tapered out, due to both a tag and a slight hip issue. All the same, ended with 3 goals, 24 touches and 574 metres gained.
  5. Chad Warner (116). Rounds out a popular top five with 25 touches, 2 goals, 587 metres gained and 11 inside 50s.

Other 100+ scores: Isaac Heeney (114), Nick Blakey (113), Brodie Grundy (102)

Disappointment: Back to the grim scores splitting the ruck for Marshall (84), while Mills (68) only had 14 touches.

Rookies: McDonald (90) was a focal point up front with 4 majors to lead the Swans rookies, coming in ahead of Cootee (79) and Serong (77), with Rosas/Edwards (33) and Kyle (32) the others. Lake (58), O’Connell (51) and Phillipou (42) the Saints.

Injuries: Big injury report here. The Swans listed Rowbottom (hand) and Edwards (leg/head), while the Saints have De Koning (hip), Wanganeen-Milera (hip) and Silvagni (shoulder).

 

Hawthorn (14.15.99) defeated North Melbourne (12.11.83)

  1. Jai Newcombe (154). Dominated down in Tassie, finding 34 touches (21 contested) plus 6 marks, 11 score involvements, 12 clearances, 9 inside 50s and 646 metres gained.
  2. Harry Sheezel (123). Popular VC choice and can’t really complain with 25 touches, 8 marks, 6 tackles and 2 majors @ 92% DE.
  3. Nick Watson (115). Set up the win with a blistering first half, ultimately kicking 5 goals from 10 touches with 6 tackles.
  4. Lloyd Meek (112). Another ton for Meek, 11 touches, 4 tackles and 32 hitouts this week.
  5. Tristan Xerri (109). Not far behind in the ruck duel, Xerri had 16 touches (13 contested) plus 7 clearances, 8 tackles and 24 hitouts.

Other 100+ scores: Luke Davies-Uniacke (107), Jarman Impey (104)

Disappointment: Parker (74) and Sicily (73) not great, while Ward (62) was well down on recent form.

Rookies: Very solid from Goater (72), leading North ahead of Banch (45), Blamires (41) and Dawson (37). A debut here for Schubert (24) put him between MacDonald (63) and Greeves (17).

Injuries: Seemingly nothing from this contest.

 

Port Adelaide (9.9.63) defeated by GWS (10.15.75)

  1. Lachie Whitfield (139). Best player on the ground Saturday night, Whitfield finished up with 29 touches, 5 marks, 11 intercepts, 1 major, 7 tackles and 526 metres gained.
  2. Aliir Aliir (122). Held down the sport defence, this week having 21 touches @ 90% DE, with 7 marks and 5 rebounds from 50.
  3. Stephen Coniglio/Miles Bergman (105). Another nice score from Cogs, this week on the back of 20 touches, 6 marks and 3 goals, while Bergman had 22 touches, 8 marks, 6 tackles and 1 goal.
  4. Toby Bedford (103). Important role in the middle, Bedford found 20 touches @ 85% DE plus 5 marks and 8 tackles.
  5. Jase Burgoyne (101). Rounds it all out, finding 17 touches (11 contested) plus 11 tackles and 7 clearances.

Other 100+ scores: Zilch

Disappointment: They were both important in the win but Ash (82) and Oliver (76) didn’t score overly well.

Rookies: Delana (64) returned to the side to lead Gruzewski (52), Hamilton (38) and Ough (20). Port had plenty of rookies so in scoring order it was Lai (77), Bamert (55), O’Brien (52), Zadow (50), Marshall (37), Ramm (36) and Whitlock (20).

Injuries: No issues for either side in this contest.

 

Carlton (24.10.154) defeated Brisbane (11.12.78)

  1. George Hewett (147). Hard to fathom this guy was playing VFL earlier in the year. 33 touches (13 contested) @ 88% DE, 11 marks, 8 clearances, 8 inside 50s, 1 major and 507 metres gained.
  2. Jagga Smith (126). Backed up his 130 with another elite game, having 29 touches and 2 goals while running @ 97% DE and having 6 clearances.
  3. Will Ashcroft (121). The best of the Lions, finishing with 32 touches (12 contested) plus 2 goals, 8 clearances and 6 inside 50s.
  4. Ollie Florent (119). One of two Swan recruits, Florent ran off half-back to finish with 28 touches @ 92% DE, 1 goal and 10 rebounds from 50.
  5. Will Hayward (116). The second Swans recruit was also great, finishing the game with 23 touches, 8 marks and 1 major.

Other 100+ scores: Harry McKay (108), Lachie Neale (105), Brodie Kemp (101)

Disappointment: Thousands brought in McCluggage (66) this week just to be cut again, while Bailey (62) wasn’t anywhere near his best. 27 touches @ 87% plus 1 major for Sam Walsh (76) feels a bit rough.

Rookies: After Smith, the Blues had Kemp (101), who kicked 5, while Derksen (84) and Dean (60) kept the backline steady. Just McKenna (34) for the Lions.

Injuries: To add to the loss, the Lions have issues with Coleman (concussion) and Lester (shoulder).

 

Richmond (12.12.84) defeated West Coast (9.19.73)

  1. Tim Taranto (159). Best score of the round went to Taranto, his 32 touches (14 contested) were paired with 1 goal, 2 goal assists, 493 metres gained, 11 clearances, 9 tackles and 7 inside 50s.
  2. Harley Reid (133). The best of the Eagles scores, Reid found 34 disposals (20 contested) plus 658 metres gained and 9 clearances.
  3. Jack Ross/Marcus Herbert (132). Ross went large, finding 27 touches (11 contested) @ 82% DE plus 1 major and 5 inside 50s, while Herbert made it back to back 130+ scores thanks to 34 touches, 8 intercepts and 79% DE.
  4. Toby Nankervis (122). The big ruckman won the battle inside, finishing with 19 touches (15 contested), 5 clearances, 1 goal and 31 hitouts.
  5. Hugo Ralphsmith (115). Rounds it all out, combining 18 touches and 2 goals with 3 goal assists, 8 marks and 6 inside 50s.

Disappointment: Short (47), grim.

Rookies: After Herbert, the Eagles had Murdock (86), Duff-Tytler (53), Johnston (42), Allan (37) and Duursma (35). Retschko (92) has been one of the rookies of the year, this week leading Annand (70), Grlj (56), Lefau (42), Ryan (34) and Cumming (20), the last of those sitting on the bench with an ankle concern.

Injuries: Nothing to report on here.

 

Gold Coast (16.9.105) defeated by Melbourne (18.6.114)

  1. Max Gawn (148). The fallback C option did not disappoint, scoring a monster thanks to 25 touches (14 contested) @ 84% DE, 10 marks, 9 clearances and 33 hitouts.
  2. John Noble (134). Provided plenty of run and rebound, having 34 touches with 10 marks, 7 tackles, 10 rebounds from 50 and a huge 875 metres gained.
  3. Jake Bowey (121). Down the other end, Bowey was elite, having 29 touches @ 93% DE plus 8 rebounds from 50, 6 marks and 542 metres gained.
  4. Matt Rowell (118). Great game from Rowell in the middle, finding 30 touches (18 contested) plus 9 tackles, 8 clearances and 8 inside 50s.
  5. Joel Fitzgerald (117). Elite stuff to finish from the rookie, finding 23 touches (14 contested) to pair with 2 majors, 11 score involvements, 7 clearances and 6 tackles.

Other 100+ scores: Trent Rivers (115), Jacob Van Rooyen (114), Harrison Petty (112), Tom Sparrow (107), Noah Anderson (105), Bodhi Uwland (101), Kysaiah Pickett (100)

Disappointment: Steele (47) grim, Petracca (53) once again just horrible.

Rookies: After Fitzgeralds elite game came Tholstrup (75), ahead of Sharp (62), Laurie (57), Jefferson (30) and Cross (28). The Suns had Addinsal/Lombard (69), Rogers (39), Ballard (35), Patterson (28) and Murray (25).

Injuries: Issues for both sides with Collins (ribs) and Howes (arm) finishing on the bench.


Essendon (11.7.73) defeated by Adelaide (23.7.145)

  1. Izak Rankine (158). Dominated the Sunday matchup, having 23 touches @ 87% DE, 7 marks, 5 tackles, 3 goals, 9 inside 50s and 584 metres gained.
  2. Riley Thilthorpe (147). Big game from Thilthorpe, clunking 10 marks (6 contested) to go with 15 touches, 5 goals and bit of rucking with 9 hitouts.
  3. Peter Wright (118). The best of the Bombers, Wright finished the game with 17 touches, 6 marks, 8 hitouts and 6 goals.
  4. Jordan Dawson (110). Another fallback C option this weekend, didn’t dominate as many would’ve hoped but another super game of 30 touches, 9 clearances and 491 metres gained nonetheless.
  5. Zach Merrett (109). Rounds it all out, putting in his all for the game to have 28 touches (14 contested) plus 79% DE, 6 clearances and 2 goal assists.

Other 100+ scores: Dyson Sharp/Billy Dowling (101)

Disappointment: Worrell (62) didn’t have much to do down back.

Rookies: Sharp (101) gets some love here, having a strong 5 round average of 88. Other Bombers were Artemis (85), El Achkar (78), Day-Wicks (63), Farrow (52), Unwin (37) and Kondogiannis (20). The Crows were led by debutant Ryan (96), while another debutant Ludowyke (57) had a presence up forward. Others included Hall-Kahan (78) and Borlase (51).

Injuries: An injury to both sides to finish up, with the Crows losing Borlase (hamstring) and the Bombers Clarke (knee/head).
