  3. Also, latest news this morning of clubs leaving Melbourne:

    THREE clubs – Greater Western Sydney, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs – will depart Melbourne for Queensland on Thursday morning to avoid Victoria’s latest COVID-19 outbreak.

    A series of phone calls late on Wednesday night led to a decision from the AFL to move the teams out of Victoria after the state announced 11 new positive coronavirus cases in 24 hours.

    It means the Sydney-GWS game, originally scheduled for Ballarat on Saturday, will be played in Queensland.

  7. It is reported that the Richmond-Brisbane match, scheduled to be at the MCG on Friday night, will be moved to the Gold Coast, with both clubs to fly to Queensland on Thursday afternoon.

    Metricon Stadium could now host as many four games in Round 18: Richmond-Brisbane on Friday, Gold Coast-Western Bulldogs on Saturday, North Melbourne-Essendon on Sunday afternoon and Sydney-Giants on Sunday night.

    These changes are due to a snap Melbourne lockdown expected to start at midnight with certainly no crowds allowed.

    # Update. As expected Victoria from midnight will be in a 5 day lockdown. No crowds at games has thrown the schedule in to turmoil with more games moving interstate.

    St Kilda’s game with Port Adelaide scheduled for Marvel Stadium looks almost certain to be moved outside of Victoria, perhaps in Western Australia, since the Saints are scheduled to play in WA in Round 19.
