  1. I’m against going early on trades with the likes of bruhn, dale, laird etc.. but Jones to McKenna is very appealing right now. Jones 5 points at half time before going off worries me and I do think McKenna might be the better pick, also taking some kick outs!
    Saying that
    TU – Jones to McKenna
TD – Hold for a week if Jones plays

    1. Hold for a week regardless of whether Jones plays. You can use bench cover. His price won’t change this week so you have one more week to look at Mckenna.

  2. Steele > Callaghan
    Liam Jones > Daicos

Not ideal trading out Steele, however I gain an extra cash cow in Callaghan. The midfield also looks the best place to go light at the moment with a few mid pricers/rookies doing the business!

Also dont like the rookie options down back apart from the options I am already fielding.
    (Ginbey, Constable & McKenna)
This makes it hard to downgrade Jones.

    1. I love it.

Think the ol’ mantra of “not trading premo’s”, doesn’t really apply anymore if you have good reason with 36 trades and 5 boosts.

Your cash-gen gets boosted, and you get more points on the field with this trade.

    1. Had a great round, but other youngsters with talent in bad roles didn’t go as well.

He’s on my radar, but I’ll be waiting a week.

  3. Have Marshall and Darcy. Have the coin to upgrade one to Gawn. Do it while Gawn’s affordable or give them a chance to show they can post consistent 100+s?

    TU – Gawn in
    TD – leave it

    1. Darcy had a fair amount of the ruck-time. Believe it was 77% of the duties. He also got scored incredibly harsh in the first half, and then scaled down 13 points at HT to top it off. Huge second half to get a respectable score. He has North this weekend and I’m thinking of VC’ing him. I think he genuinely can finish R1 this year.

Marshall is the one I’m not too sold on. Was even considering flicking him before R1 with all the Campbell talk. But he had a really hard matchup against Freo, and still churned out a solid 80. Has English and then Draper the next two, so I’m expecting a strong bounce-back.

Grabbing Gawn is a completely luxury, so unless you have no other issues, and your structure is strong, I’d avoid doing it.

      1. Someone remind me on what Gawn will need to do to get Forward stays after round 6? Was he on target this week?
Didn’t consider him pre season due to Grundy and thought that he might become number 1 forward anyway. Thoughts?

Sicily is going to benefit from how poor our team is this year. Lots of opportunity for the ball in his hands

      1. Plays bruise free footy Sicily if someone actually sticks with him he will go 80-90 but the hawks are terrible and the plus 6 help tossing up between sic and Dawson

      2. Thanks Abs, yeh money is always helpful in other areas especially since it’ll probably be a boost week next week to bring in all the cash cows before they go up. As a magpie fan I really want to pick Daicos but even this week against Port I reckon they might put someone on him. Whichever way I choose the other option will be the correct one!! Haha hope you have a good week pal.

        2

        0
        1. I’ve seen a few say they believe Port put someone on him, but I personally don’t believe it. They let McKenna, and Rich run riot on Saturday, Hinkley’s response to “will you put work into Daicos” was also a media driven response from my interpretation.

Who knows though, not sure if either Drew or SPP could do much to negate Daicos. If I was you I’d save the 120k, and get your boy Whisper, sounds a better plan with a boost next weekend.

Best of luck either way FBS!

  4. 36 trades, 22 trading rounds. How do you use them?
I would expect to use 5 in the last 8 rounds (post byes) and 3* after round 2. So then you are at 28 for 13 rounds or 2 per round + 2 boosts.

Then you also have an additional 6 to budget for (4 x +1 for byes and 4* x +1 boosts, less two available per above), so for every boost/bye trade you have a week with 1 less trade. Where do you budget to find 6 extra trades?

    Post round 1 – 1 (one side-ways correction)
Post round 3 – 2 (too early for cash generation)
Post round 4 – 2 (too early for cash generation)
    Post round 12 – (only 2 teams on bye) – 1 (use 2 trades, not 3)

Then you use 3 x boost post rounds 5-10 depending on needs and save one boost for emergencies.

Question: If I were to do 2 correctional trades this week, where do I budget to lose that trade?

*assume use a boost for corrections

    1. My head hurts. I struggle to budget and forecast in my business and my personal lives, with all the pro help I have. The concept of SuperCoach trade budgets just broke my mind and sent me searching for a frothy:)

    2. If you have 3 x450k cash cows you can turn them into 2 premos and a rookie with a boost.

That saves you +1 trade on your upgrades

If you have a bunch of midpricers you can always upgrade early this week with a 1 up one down correction trade/upgrade.

    1. Just be careful with Dees rookies….lots of established players on the sidelines, especially this week

  7. Thoughts on this trade SC Talk legends

    Out: Stewart, Hopper & Ratugolea

    In: Daicos, Gulden & Comben/Pedler

Yes, Rata may do more without Stewart missing a few weeks, however wasn’t overly exciting with Stewart gone most of the game. Xerri out – Comben hopefully plays more backup ruck/fwd with Goldy back plus ok cash gen.

Bottom line, the trade ends up with Daicos who should be top 6 DEF & Gulden, who has potential to be top 6-8 FWD (Plus DPP swing).

TU: Use that boost to potentially end up with two keepers & make points up after a disastrous last week.

TD: Trade Stewart only this week, reassess the other’s next week

    2

  8. Thinking big…

  11. Hey guys, managed a solid score for R1 but really not liking my selection of Luke Jackson in my $ide. Hate to blow a trade but feel I’d kick myself in the long run.

    TU – Keep!
    TD – Bring in JHF

    1. Some talk of him playing more of a midfield role – similar to Blicavs at the Cats. Got a few CBAs in the second half last week even with Darcy rucking. Very talented below his knees as well as obviously in the air. I’d keep at this stage.

    1. Doesn’t affect me but surely if you picked him and he’s only missing one week… you hold. Don’t want to be wasting trades on premiums this early do we? Also may give you a handy opportunity and advantage in using your bench options to loop the best score?

      1. Concussion scares me, how can we be sure it’s a 1 week injury. Worried something could happen similar to English last year and also the prospect of leaving that much cash on the bench that early on

  12. Evening All,

Thinking due to increased trades this year, going really aggressive to start the season.

Trades this week are looking like:

    J.Kelly -> Sicily
    Hopper -> JHF
    Flanders -> Sheezel

    TU – DO IT
    TD- HOLD

    12

    7
  13. Thoughts on Daniel Begala’s plan?
    Jones – Ridley
    Laird – Phillips
    Fyfe – Coniglio

Two likely keepers for one very likely keeper.
If round two scores warrant, I could then go:
    Wilmot/Chesser – McKenna
    Sinn – Long

So, go aggressive early then hopefully sit for a bit.

    10

    8
  14. Looking to bring in Sheezel. Who makes way.

TU: Bruhn (Can’t see him making as much cash as Sheezel)
TD: Ratugolea (Is also ruck cover at the moment through DPP)

  15. Is B. Cox a good pod and the real deal after good preseason and round 1
    Tu- Yes
    Td- Nope too inconsistent

  16. DEF: Docherty, Dawson, Daicos, Jones, Ginbey, Constable (Wilmot, Cowan)
MID: Laird, Merrett, Bont, Green, Hopper, Callaghan, Ashcroft, Phillips (Baker, Chesser, A.Davey)
    RUC: Darcy, Marshall (Madden)
FWD: Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Flanders, Sheezel, McLean (Phillipou, Greene)

    $20,000 ITB

Feel like I only need to make the one move this week, that being Jones to Mckenna, would have done Flanders to JHF but don’t have the funds. Not to worried about Laird’s dud on the weekend, he’ll come good.
    Any tips/feedback is much appreciated

  17. Bruhn named on a wing, that’s where he got switched to last week once parfitt subbed in and scored rly badly.
TU: Is it time to go
    TD: Still hold him

  18. Already making 2 trades. Is it worth using a trade boost for the following;

    Caminiti > Philipou

It will allow me to loophole at f6 through the ratugolea/madden DPP swing and give me extra cover as I currently have ratugolea at f6.
I also believe Caminiti will need to go by next week as there looks to be much better cash cows in the fwd line.

    Tu; Do it
    Td; Hold off

    1. If you don’t have Sheezel I think it’s worth it. Neither are keepers but I can see both making about the same amount of money. So for me that means take the cash now.

  21. Thinking of doing Jelly (jelly out to concussion) to McKenna Via DPP to bank me 400K reason being I went very mid price madness and if I do this trade I will be able to fix any problems next week on midpricers with ease, especially with the 36 trades (use to 30)
    Midpricers I went for
Max Holmes (cats fan) Fyfe, McInerney & Draper

I don’t own either however the SC Gods have a way to make coaches regret their knee jerk decisions.

  23. Hi everyone – already have Docherty and Daicos so now looking at best STEWART replacement?

T/U Sicily – safer /smarter move after just 2 round

T/D Ridley/Ryan/Young/Cox + extra cash – risky after just 1 round and Freo scores inflated

    13

    2
  24. T/U Ryan – huge first round score and should see a nice price rise after 3

T/D Ridley – better in the long run (don’t get sucked in by a 170!!)

  25. Like most, few question marks over a few players; Jones, Bruhn, Flanders, Hopper.
Can’t make 4 changes next week if in a worse case scenario so Jones to McKenna is the only trade me this week. Leaves me with 150k. If Bruhn, Jones and Flanders fail my pass mark then I’ll be aggressive and boost those 3 out.
Ones to watch; JHF, Ziebell, Chandler (if scoring and looks to hold a spot) and Will Phillips if he isn’t the sub. Thought he played well when coming on.

  26. thinking below:

    Stewart > 500k defender
    H. Clark > mckenna
    Fyfe > gulden

    1. I think just typing that here is enough to show me how crazy that is.

      Otherwise I do:

      T/u
      Out – Jelly and Jones
      In – Ziebel and Daicos

      T/d
      Out – Jones
      In – Mckenna
      Boost next week if required.

Just conscious of Jelly being slow to get back to full form after the concussion.

  28. Are we all riding off Nat Fyfe , something is telling me he is was a undisputed champion of a generation and that you should never write off a player of his ilk ( fortitude has been mentioned and this guy has it in spades ) i will certainly give him another week just in case he’s leg has not fallen off.

    4

    1. Forward role sucks in a team that is terrible going forward. Possibly hold because with all the talk about him in the media, he could see some midfield minutes and up that scoring. but its really risky if he doesn’t score well again. especially against North, could see him become really cheap. It’s pretty team dependent.

  29. Is it worth keeping Jones 1 more week to then be able to get bowes In depending on how he goes

  30. This is my current, no changes of yet from last week. Unsure on what (if any moves) are necessary before the start of round 2
DEF: Docherty, Sicily, Jones, McKenna, Ginbey, Constable (Wilmot, Cowan)
MID: Laird, Neale, Bont, Green, Hopper, Callaghan, Ashcroft, McKenzie (Davey, Baker, Chesser)

FWD: Dunkley, Rozee, Taranto, Gulden, Flanders, Sheezel (Greene, Caminti)

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated

    1. How much $$$ do you have.

      Real solid side.
Jones + Flanders probably your biggest issues. Think you just wait.

Maybe Flanders > Philapou just to free up some cash for potential moves next week

  31. Backline premiums are currently Stewart, Docherty and Ridley. Daicos very tempting but not sure if that’s the way to go as I already have Ridley.

Do I straight swap Stewart to Dawson (Can’t go Sicily in 1 trade) or go Stewart to Daicos and bank 108k to potentially get Jones to Worpel which means I don’t have to field Constable at M8?

    TU: Stewart > Dawson
    TD: Stewart > Daicos + 108k ITB
