  1. I have a feeling that there are going to be plenty of donuts on offer this week. Hopefully some of those rookies (Koschitzke, Bergman, Flynn, Highmore et al) come back to save us!

    Butters to Jiath
    Jordon to Waterman?

  2. F**k trying to get cash cows, f**k trying to get PODs, time to get in midfield premos who are going to give me consistent 120+. Tried way too hard to go for a POD-heavy team and it’s coming back to bite me now.

    Out: Adams and LDU
In: Oliver and Macrae/Steele (depending if I can afford one of them)

  3. Hard to know what to do. There seem to be only about a half dozen premiums worth going for across the board, the rest are scoring like crud. Guys like Jiath & Impey are looking more viable now despite their price rises.

  4. Waterman looking a strong chance to make his way into the team, it is just which rookie to offload for him. Dow, Sharp, Brockman, Jordon and probably more are viable options

  6. Butters > dunkley
    Kozi > jones

These are my likely trades this week..
I had the donut from flynn at R2 this week and ended up with a low score from fullarton at R3, Hoping he comes back in but mummy looked good.
Also took a donut from kozi/highmore which should make jones a necessity for me if his JS is looking good.
If flynn doesnt come back in it might become lachie hunter > rookie and flynn > premo ruck ..
Which could still leave me with a donut down back.. cruel game we play

  7. Team is honestly in shambles, in a money league and need some serious help!!
Def – laird,Stewart, Daniel, j clarke, Chapman, kozi (highmore, sharp)
Mids – Oliver, bont, merret, Cripps, Taranto , gulden , jordon, berry ( Powell, brockman, Scott)
    Ruck- gawndy (flynn)
Forward – dunkley, dusty, zieball, Warner , Daniher, campbell ( Bergman, rowe)
$227k in the bank any advice would be amazing!!!

    • Team doesn’t seem that bad on paper, just appears you need some bodies in the defence, which a majority of people are having the same issue.
I’d take out Kozi and bring in Jiath which will require an additional downgrade to have the $$. Possibly Bergman > Waterman.

However, with Daniel’s 1 week suspension you could also upgrade him to Ridley/Short and then use the left over money to trade Kosi to a Jones (Port) type. You’ll still have leftover $$ for next week where you can upgrade further and have the defensive bodies to field. Goodluck either way

  8. Unfortunately I’m unable to upgrade Daniel to Ridley without sacrificing a Flynn type, which I’m hesitant to do since Treacy didn’t offer much today and Mummy won’t be able to play week-in week-out so theres more cash to make on Flynn. As such, I’ll hold Daniel through his week suspension and hope he gets off.

    Kosi > Jones
    Bergman > Waterman.

There is a chance Bergman comes back into the team with Port’s injuries but if not Waterman will come in. Cheers

    • If anyone can make a strong argument towards downgrading Flynn to Treacy to enable a Daniel > Ridley upgrade I’d be happy to hear it. Otherwise I’ll just proceed with the above trades and stack the $$.

      Still Butters to Waterman
Daniels to Bowes. Bowes seem to be in a favourable SC role and should average 110ish for the year.

Then next week a rookie like Jordon/brockman/Scott into Oliver/Steele with the extra cash.

Cambell has better job security and has potential to put high scores.

Any reasoning? I would have thought Campbell has far better JS and higher ceiling than Fullerton, especially with McStay coming back soon.

    Should I bring in;

    Tu; Bowes
    Td; Steele (via dpp)

*please keep in mind the lack of defensive rookies available. Also, if I go with Bowes, it’ll leave me enough cash to bring in another premo the week after. If I pick Steele, this means I won’t have enough to upgrade to a premo next week. Thoughts appreciated!

  21. Ideally I would like to trade Dow, Daniel, T Adams and Neale, but realistically I can’t do that. I think the priority of people I need to get rid of is as follows.

    1. Adams
    2. Daniel (I would cop a 0 this week with Sharp and Highmore on my bench)
    3. Dow (Would quite like to trade him for Waterman though)
    4. Neale

    • Probably worth considering Adams to a premo defender and swing Sharp into the mids so you don’t have any 0s down back and hopefully you’ve got enough rookies in the midfield to cover that 0. Then you’d be able to do Dow for Waterman to make some cash.
As a Daniel owner, I do understand wanting to get rid of him too though but as someone who traded Adams and Dow out last week, it’s a pretty good feeling to be rid of those two.

  23. Have the headaches of Daniel and Butters to deal with but I’m also already down to 24 trades and really don’t want two sideways trades. I can get 6 in my backline by swinging Clark into D5 and Chapman at D6 but one of Koschitzke, Highmore or Daniel would have to go. Still holding onto Butters until a timeline is announced and might just hold if it’s only a couple of weeks (I’m lying to myself with optimism here) but I want to hold my second trade for the week in case he needs to go.

TU: Koschitzke to Waterman to get better cash generation
TD: Daniel to a premo. I’ve got 150k so can get anyone really and through DPPs it can be any position except ruck.

      • Which on three hundreds each on the trot and each with a 100 average might not be too unbelievable, even if unexpected at the start of the season.

A 90+ average at their price point as a forward or back puts them into luxury trade category later, and 95+ makes them a potential keeper.

Certainly the points seem to be there for quicker players this season.

  37. We have 3 holes to cover. Two injured forwards and Daniel.

I am tempted to go with Hickey or Grundy. But Grundy looks like he still has a bit more price slide in him, given what’s happening at the pies, and while Hickey still has some decent price growth in him, but he really is a now or never proposition.

Gawn and Grundy will still be the dominant pairing, but the gap between Grundy and the rest has shrunk and he’s no longer an absolute essential. The Pies midfield will only make that situation worse. This is exactly what people were concerned about with the whole G&G lock-in thing.

I’m also tempted to take Bowes and complete my defence but he’s near full priced already. So there really isn’t too much rush on that.

I can also take Grundy instead of Waterman, but based on Mummy slowing down in Q4 and Flynn having his break I am hoping that Mummy gets a rest this week.
Although I’m sure Mummy would love to go up against Hickey at his old club this week.

If I have Fullerton as coverage that may have to do. If Fullerton gets dropped I will bring in a ruck.

So once again it’s all a bit what if until teams come in. It’s so frustrating that you find players dropped after their replacement has already played their match.

    • Worth noting that Grundy wasn’t trusted with solo rucking or even rucking against Nic Nat with just Cox’s support last year. Cameron played both times.

His two matches last year were:
Elimination final 105 (yet only 67 AF and 19 hitouts 12 possesions) which smells like a massive scaleup by CD. (Grundy/Cox/Cameron)

      Round 8 – 61 (62 AF) on 10 possessions and 24 hitouts with Grundy/Cameron.

2019 games, however, were a bit more like Grundy’s average.
2018 games were also suffering from huge discrepancies between AF and SC scores.

My points here being I won’t be rushing Grundy in this week, and I strongly advise against him as a captain option this week.

He has been playing forward, and I think he may get on the end of a few. This may be the week he goes big. I would Hold.

I really like Steele ( I own him ) I’m not sure paying $650K at this stage, is a good idea. I just think the way the rookies are looking if you want a chance to get to “Full Premo” you will need to get in as many Fallen Premiums ( sub $550K ) as possible. Going Steele now could mean your stuck with a rookie or two on field come the end of the year.

      Best of luck anyway.

PS..I have no problem with you trading out Dow and Danniher 😉

I’m a little unsure about Waterman as a small forward who relies on goals to score SC points (already have two in McNeil and Scott). Thinking going early on Lachie Jones, for Dow, might be better.

      • On Crouch. $448K mid.

His BE is 59 and he should rise between $15K-$25K

He should top $500k the week after, ( R6) with a decent score this week.

I was looking at him as a Heeney replacement. I’m actually more worried about his body holding up rather than his scoring ability. He has a long history of soft tissue injuries. This doesn’t fill me with any confidence he can play out the season.

I’ve already lost Rowel, Young and now have Heeney to deal with/ cover.. I just can’t take the risk on him at this stage.

If you have a heap of trades (27 or more ) and want to roll the dice.
He could pay off big time.

You have to love a guy who has 12 tackles.

        Best of luck.

  42. Didn’t get much feedback on the fix my team thing, so I’ll try again here

    Current team:
DEF – Laird, Short, Daniel, Jiath, Clark, Cox (Highmore, Fyfe)
MID – Macrae, Fyfe, Merrett, Petracca, Taranto, Gulden, Campbell, Powell (Jordon, Brockman, McNeil)
    RUC – Gawn, Flynn (Meek)
FWD – Dunkley, Martin, Heeney, Ziebell, Phillips, Warner (Rowe, Scott)

26 trades left with $17k spare in the salary cap.

One person I have to get rid of is Heeney. Swans said they’re hopeful he’ll be back in 2-3 weeks, but them using the term ‘hopeful’ isn’t too promising to my ears.

Daniels has had a wonky start, and him being out this week doesn’t help but I’m hoping he comes good. If Highmore gets called back into the Saints side I’ll be much more likely to keep him in. Was hoping to downgrade Clark to Jones next week if I can help. If not, I’ll have to either upgrade Daniel and downgrade someone, upgrade Highmore to Jones and downgrade someone else.

Also I don’t know if it’s just me, but is anyone else now afraid for Flynn JS? After Mumford’s performance, you think that the Giants might continue to stick with him after that. I don’t know, but that worries me at the moments, especially when I only have Meek as a backup (thanks Draper for getting injured beforehand).

Jordon apparently may be dropped as well from what I’m hearing. And even though McNeil and Scott’s BE is still okay, there scoring is concerning as I don’t know if their JS is okay now.

I had some ideas but I’m not sure which one to go for:

    1. Heeney > Impey
Daniel > DEF premo around $500-550k

    2. Heeney > Impey
    Highmore > Jones

    3. Jordon > Waterman (through Scott DPP)
Daniel > DEF premo around $500-550k

    4. Jordon > Waterman (through Scott DPP)
    Highmore > Jones.

Or if Highmore gets called up:

Jordon > Waterman (through Scott DPP)
Heeney > FWD premo around $550k

Something that’s been advised to me by a couple of people as well was Heeney > Waterman, but I personally think that’s a stupid trade downgrading a premo/near-premo to a rookie. Totally takes away that strength in the FWD line.

What do you guys think I should do?

    • Don’t think Highmore will come in, we will find out on Wednesday night.

      If highmore doesn’t play:
      Daniel to Stewart or Bowes
      Heeney to Impey.

Have to wait from Leon Cameron in regards to Flynn or when team selections come out on Friday night. Mumford might be sore after aggressive game against Grundy.
If highmore plays and flynn doesn’t
      Heeney to Waterman
Upgrade meek to Grundy if you have the cash, if not, Hickey with B/E of -4.

I know you think it’s silly trading premium to rookie but Waterman will generate cash and you have Grundy/Hickey strengthening the ruck stock. But Ziebell is scoring like a premium and Warner is scoring well so don’t worry about Waterman taking Heeney’s spot.

      • If I was to get Grundy or Hickey to avoid having any donuts, I’d have to leave Heeney, because I need to replace either Daniel or Highmore as well. Otherwise I’ll be getting a donut in the defence with only 5 players available if I sorted Heeney out instead.

  43. Same with the guy above, no feedback on fix your team post.

    Bank: $146 000

Def: Laird, Short, Stewart, May, Clark, Chapman (Briggs, Highmore)
Mid: Macre, Oliver, Merrett, Petracca, Brayshaw, Gulden, Campbell, Jordon (Brockman, McNeil, Scott)
    Ruck: Gawn, Flynn (Treacy)
Fwd: Dunkley, Martin, Walker, Ziebell, Warner, Daniher (Rowe, Bergman)

    May has to go unfortunately.

Im thinking May and Scott out (via Dusty) for Ridley and Waterman
    or
May and Scott (via Dusty) out for Jiath and Waterman and bank $241 300 for next premium upgrade.
    or
Any suggestions that you think is better than my suggestions, thank you.

Depends how much cash you have left

Sholl is also a cheaper laird can be played on mid if you want to dispose of dusty

  44. Certainly the situation where you could potentially be trading blind (due to the teams only being called a day before the match) is adding a Russian roulette feel to the game this year.
Especially when you might be forced to trade out a player from game one for another player who has yet to be confirmed.

After reading the Caleb Daniel’s poll thoughts. I think I’ll just persevere with him.

I will be now trading Butters to Waterman
    Highmore to Bowes.

If Highmore plays I’ll trade Jordon and my left over cash to get best possible available Mid which could be Zerret/Oliver

I’m thinking one of the following scenarios:

TU: Daniher, Kosi > Waterman, Bowes (265k bank) [Keep Caleb Daniel and have full premium defence]

TD: Daniher, Daniel > Waterman, Bowes (590k bank) [Primed to pickup Macrae and Oliver over the coming weeks]

  50. Hey everyone, Hope your week is going well.

    Currently thinking:
    Daniel -> Ridley
    Clark -> Cox

Cox has a BE of -44 compared to Clark’s 37 or so and will be handy when Zeibell gets DEF/FWD status. Also leaves me with $150k in the bank currently. If Finn Macrae does well, then next week I’ll likely go:

    Jordon/Campbell -> Macrae
    Kos/Highmore -> L. Jones

The Following week, assuming no injuries, I’ll probably have $250k – $300k in the bank for a significant upgrade. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

If I hold Daniel it allows me to start upgrading this week. However, I would need highmore to be named in order to do so! Thoughts appreciated!

    • Hi GFH !
The answer to your 3way question is Yes
If you have a Def/Fwd ,a Def/Mid & a Fwd/Mid & an empty position to start the process. eg… say you have Cox starting in Def, Campbell sitting in Fwd line & Sharp sitting in the Mids & you’ve traded out a fwd. Then you’d move Cox to fwd, Sharp to Def & Campbell to Mid. You’d have moved your players around & still retain your empty Fwd possi.
      Hope that helps !

    • Yes, but it requires having players traded out, and utililizing the dpp after the vacancy is created.

So create the vacancy with the trade out, then you can shuffle a dpp into their spot, then a dpp into the subsequent spot, then trade in the player you want in the final location(s).

Relatively simple on the computer but a serious pain in the butt via phone app.

      • Rick..Its not quite that simple..

        On Campbell.
I would read Cow Talk ( out this afternoon.) before making this trade.
It was just three weeks ago (R2) he scored 118
This week that 118, has dropped from his price cycle, hence the high BE .

Campbell has an ugly 29 (R3) about to drop out of his price cycle after this week, this should bring his BE back down again.

If he scores 64 ( as predicted ) he will only lose $3k and his BE will be back to low 30’s

If he goes 90 ( unlikely but not impossible) his BE will be in the minuses again.

        I think he’s worth holding.

Bonner first, then Butters and Dursma injured.

Housten may also need to move up the ground ( unless they play Mayes on a wing ) This can only be a good thing for Jones JS and scoring.

He looks ready made. He was great v Richmond, a little sloppy with the ball, but the pressure was finals like all night. He should only get better as he starts to fit in. Against lower opponents he may really shine. It might be as soon as this week v Carlton.

I jumped on him last week 🙂

I am considering a downgrade Daniel to Jones. With Lobb looking to return earlier than expected I need that cash for a upgrade to Grundy. Will give me Gawdy with Flynn on the bench. Also have Neale on the Horizon listed at a price I cannot ignore.

Is it a bad move to do the downgrade this week will leave me with 400k in the bank.

Or Upgrade Daniel to Bowes or Docherty. Bring Jones in for cover on the bench. Leaves next to nothing in the bank and I’m relying on Flynn to keep playing.

L Jones should be fine at D6.

I dropped Neale before price changes. I too will look at him R7-8 if it looks like he is fit again. I won’t touch him otherwise. There’s a heap of other Premo’s with high BE’s
That cash could come in very handy. 😉

TU Waterman and Chapman with a booty of cash for premo’s next week
TD Petracca and one of Waterman or Chapman
Or keep Heeney and just go the rookie option and get Petracca next week.

  76. I already posted this here before, but I’ll tell you why I’m posting it again.

    Current team:
DEF – Laird, Short, Daniel, Jiath, Clark, Cox (Highmore, Fyfe)
MID – Macrae, Fyfe, Merrett, Petracca, Taranto, Gulden, Campbell, Powell (Jordon, Brockman, McNeil)
    RUC – Gawn, Flynn (Meek)
FWD – Dunkley, Martin, Heeney, Ziebell, Phillips, Warner (Rowe, Scott)

26 trades left with $17k spare in the salary cap.

Reason why is I just realized that if Flynn and Meek don’t play, I’m pretty much f***ed either way with 3 people in my defence not playing and Heeney out too. I think there’s a decent chance of that happening honestly.
If it does, what should I do? Because I have no bloody solutions on how to solve it.
