  1. Not sure if this has come up in the previous Trade Talk but Billings need to go. I’m thinking of Sicily and then sending him into defence once the rookies are ready to release in a few weeks.

T/U: Sicily will be a top 6 defender
    T/D: He’s too risky

    1. What about Mundy?

I think Sicily is a gun if he can pull his head in. And I’ve had that opinion all season, and put him in a similar bucket as Toby Greene. Fantastic when they’re on, but get injured / suspended far too often.

I’ve already moved Billings on (to McLean), but I’ll likely moved Buddy on for Mundy.

    2. I’m trading Murray to Sicily

BILLINGS I’m keeping he’s already too cheap too trade out, more chance him going up then already maxed out rookie!

      1. Yep, so I could also go:

        Franklin — > D Smith
        Murray –> Sicily

And still have some cash left over.

        12

        6
    3. Thinking that positioning Sicily as a forward or defender will definitely have an impact. Shaping up to be in my forwards?

  2. Walters > Gray
    Barry/Holman (if dropped) > Spargo

Gone early on Spargo to allow me to pick up both Worpel and Ronke next week.
    WARCHEST! $$$

    1. that is a bloody dangerous game you’re playing there Snoidz but you got a thumbs up from me as I’m very seriously thinking of doing something similar.. i know about that hombre and the 1 game rule, but sometimes rules are meant to be bent slightly, well I think they’re anyway..

      5

      1. My reasoning, copy and pasted from Rookie Review earlier:

Obviously want to wait for rookies to play their second game but there are always exceptions to rules.

Looks like there are 4 potential rookies on the bubble next week: Spargo, Mutch, Ronke, Worpel and/or potentially Appleby / Shipley. It might be the perfect week to double downgrade and cash in.

However, for some next week (or the week after) is the perfect time to jump on some of the fallen premiums e.g. Oliver, Danger and Crouch.

I may trade in rookie early this week in order to pick up another next week along with an upgrade (Holman / Banfield > premium).

If you were to chose one rookie to go early on, which one would it be? Spargo and Worpel seem to have strong cases.

        7

          1. Spargo could’ve taken over Kent’s, Garlett’s or Petracca’s spot. Since those 3 play as a mid/fwd

            2

            0
        1. I went early on Mirra and that paid off, for exactly these reasons.

Difference is we knew that there would still be vacancies on the Hawthorn Backline.

Ronke is a bit of a risk, but Buddy, Reid and Towers still have time before they come back.

I doubt Buddy will be back next week either.

          2

          0
  3. I have 23 trades left but i also have billings
    TU: trade to sicily
TD save the trades and upgrade and downgrade next week

    8

    17
  4. Currently trying to figure out if. I should do walters and wingard to Merret and Sicily but want to know some other options

    7

    2
  5. Seriously considering a raw Supercoach move of Billings to Milera – Cash recovery plus have a feeling in the new role down back he will break into top 6-8 forwards.

    8

    15
    1. That is a bold move.
Milera is one of those players that has never been SuperCoach relevant. Think he was too pricey in his rookie year.
Just had his best game across half back and is a great user of the ball and looks to finally have enough confidence to demand the pill. Good spotting, couldn’t do any worse than Billings.

      1

      0
      1. I’d give him one more game to see if the crows use him in the same role. Just as likely to be moved back to a small forward role where his scoring will drop off.

        2

  6. Jeremy Howe top 6 defender? Coffield for Howe possible trade this week?
    T/U- do the trade
    T/D – no trade

    12

    21
    1. My only problem with Howe is he’s a top 3 defender one week, and not top 6 the next. So he will likely finish top 10, but he’s a rollercoaster.

      8

      0
  7. I need some money to trade O’Meara into Crouch/Oliver/Pendles

T/U Ed Richards to Taylin Duman
T/D Holman to Spargo who isn’t on the bubble

    16

    6
  8. I really dont know what to do. Going Murray to Durman…other option was naughton out but like his last two weeks. So now I am top 4k and have 829K after durman trade, and petracca on the bench. So what luxury trade ??

    Finlayson/Doedee to Yeo
    Petracca to Boak (dpp)/Gray/Mundy

    Bye rounds no issue.

    2

    12
  9. Last week I made the genius move of trading Petracca out for Parfitt (insert head slap here). Leaving with me both Toby Green & Parfitt on my forward line bench.

I am looking at trading Toby Green out this week for either Mundy or Treloar (via DPP). The Treloar trade would complete my midfield with Premiums (with the exception of T Kelly at M8). The Mundy trade would be a conservative like for like to shore up my forward line.

    Comments / thumbs appreciated.

    T/U: Green to Mundy
    T/D: Green to Treloar

  10. $441k stepping stone JPK?
Current mids: Danger, Fyfe, Titch, Cripps, Bont, Parker, rookie, rookie.
My plan is to eventually replace the 2 x rookies with Dusty & J Kelly/Oliver.
I am tempted to trade out a rookie (say Banfield/Holman) to bring in JPK as a stepping stone to gain points.
I am trying to win leagues.
    I have 23 trades remaining.

T/U: Do it – enjoy the points and besides, JPK will probably increase by $100k
T/D Stick to the plan Baz, trades are gold

    Thanks coaches.

    4

    22
    1. Stepping stones are good to start with (if they work out) but not worth spending a trade on. In the end you’re just using one extra trade to get to where you want to be.
Or you get stuck with your stepping stone.

  11. Dammit! I have Billings and Walters: losing patience with Billings after all these weeks

    thinking:

Billings to Sicily (opens up dpp with Finlayson) and Walters to R Gray

    t/u: good move
    t/d: dickhead – rethink

    thanks champs

    17

    15
  12. Option 1 TU
    Bonner to Sicily and then
have two rooks in each line
    D murrary and doedee
    M Finlayson and Kelly
    F fritsch and gulfei

    Option 2 TD
Swing fin back to the back line and get rid of bonner and stack mids with two premos with only Kelly left and then have 3 def rooks and 2 fwds

    1

    15
  13. Latest news is that Walters’ injury is not as bad as initially thought and he will only miss 2-3 weeks.

    TU: Trade Walters for Heeney
TD: Focus on upgrading other rookies and rely on Fritsch or Guelfi as bench cover for 2-3 weeks

    5

    21
    1. *ears pricked
Where did you hear that? Sounds like Buddy might not be too far away either. Might be tempted to take the short-term pain that’s all.
      Thanks mate

      3

      1
      1. I doubt it. I’m assuming he will miss this week (Rd7) and next week (rd8) and then return in r9 or r10.

        0

        0
    2. I’m keeping Walters as freo play late in rounds 7-8 & 10 . Comes in handy for my v/c captain choice and loopholing bench option both mids or fwds. Saves a valuable trade which in my case I need due to other injuries.

      1

      0
      1. Ps. Only downside I see is with Tabener out for so long Walters will play fwd more thus reducing his midfield time. Maybe loss of points?

        2

        0
  14. What you guys think about
    Touhy and Bonner-OUT
    Cripps and Duman-IN

I could get any premium in any position Cripps was looking the best, with Hurley most likely holding his price and Cripps going to rise

    11

    2
      1. Hawks may make the call for you. Just read this on the AFL app …
Verdict: Tough selection calls this week, but my vote at match committee would be David Mirra out for Sicily.

My footnote would be that this particular segment “The Verdict”, is more often wrong than right.

        2

        0
  15. TU: Parker to Merrett this week
TD: Holman to Macrae next week

Will probably bring in Danger next week as well depending on BE

    2

    25
  16. Ride out the Zorko nightmare?
TU Hold out. He has to come good. Eventually….
TD Cop the 170k loss it’s only getting worse

    18

    17
  17. TU – Billings & Holman to Macrae & Spargo

TD – Billings & Holman to Oliver & Spargo

Comment if you think Mundy & Spargo would be better as both DPP

    10

    6
    1. If you’re downgrading 1 this week I’d say Banfield as he has a lower average, higher BE, and is playing a tougher opponent (Richmond) than Holman (Dogs)

      6

      0
  18. 24 trades left, itching to get rid of Billings

TU Billings and Banfield for Cripps and Spargo
    TD Hold your trades

    12

    1
  19. Who to trade out for Mitchell?

T/U O’Meara – higher breakeven but likely to score more

T/D Billings – going nowhere and showing no sign of changing

    4

    19
  20. I know walters is only out for 2-3 weeks but I reckon I’ll move on him for gray anyway as it looks like he spending more time forward now with taberner out and is more reliant on a bag of goals to get big scores. Currently have 24 trades.

With my other trade I know matt crouch still has a high be but thinking of going early as:
    – he is playing the blues so could get a fairly high score and wont reduce in price that much
-theres a lot of good rookies on bubble next week and am thinking of a double downgrade
    – means I dont have to play holman or banfield on

t/u bring crouch in this week
T/d wait a week and do one up one down next round

    5

    7
  21. top of the morning lads.. I was going to go early on 1 of the cows this week but I’ll prioritise next week and go double up this week sorta..

    McGrath OUT – Howe IN
    O’Meara OUT – Hurley IN

    T/U Yes
    T/D No

    cheers lads..

    6

    10
    1. just McGrath to Hurley I reckon OC ??? JOM can give you the odd big score like Howe so those proposed trades combined looks like 1 sideways and 1 up IMO

      2

      0
  22. Double upgrade time and wait for the fallen promos, next week’s cash vows, and of course clear signs of fitness for Grundy.

So it’s Toby TBC Greene out for sure and either Garlett or Banfield. Banfield and Holman have about the same breakeven, so I guess it really has to be Garlett.

    T/U Cripps and Sicily
    T/D Cripps and Heeney

    4

    16
    1. Heeney has a high breakeven and can probably be brought in 50k cheaper in two weeks, when it is time to move on players like Fritsch, Banfield, Murray and Naughton.

Having Sicily would allow me to move him back in place of Murray and then bring Heeney in at a discounted price.

      4

      3
    1. The real question is, is he a must have the likes of Danger, Titch, Dusty and Fyfe? I.e. top 6? Or will his average drop down to 100-110 and go top 7-10?

Right now he is priced for a 115+ average.

      3

      1
  23. Is Mundy gonna spend more time up FWD with both Taberner and Walters OUT?

TU: yes and will negatively effect his scoring in the meantime
TD: doesn’t matter either way. He’s a gun and will continue to pump out 100s

    2

    8
  24. What to do with Walters?
T/U – Hold and rely on Fritsch/Waterman bench cover
T/D – Move on to Gray

    6

    12
    1. OR
Trade Christensen to Gray and HOLD Walters on the bench until he returns, leaning towards this option

      6

      0
      1. That’s why I keep burning through the trades.

Not enough dpp’s this year. Either premos OR rookies.

        0

        0
  25. Held Kelly all the way until now. Do I keep holding or do the following:

T/U Murray to Hurley and Kelly to Cripps
T/D Hold Kelly and Just do a defensive upgrade and a peaked cash cow downgrade

    Comment hold the trades.

    12

    3
    1. Rule 1 is don’t trade out premiums. This year I’vd traded out Kelly, Zorko, Hibberd, Buddy, Toby Greene. Half my trades have been forced trades of promos.

      3

      2
  26. Thinking Parker has to go just not finding enough of the footy , who to bring in:
    TU – McCrae
TD – Merrett and save some cash

    2

    11
  27. Ive decided to bite the bullet and not trade anything this week which includes holding Billings for one more week (23 trades remaining)
    TU trades are gold
    TD you’re an idiot

    12

    2
  28. Have the cash to go banfield to Howe, swinging Finlayson to mids, gets Holman off the field. So nett effect on my starting 22 is holman out, Howe in. Not concerned about Howe’s up/down scoring it’s his likely average versus current price that interests me.
    TU: do it
TD: Howe is borderline top 6-8, Wait till you can afford a better option.

    9

    6
  29. I have Zorko & Greene (also Petracca)

If I was to trade one who would it be?

Your thoughts are encouraged, thanks 🙂

    1

    1
    1. Doesn’t sound like Petracca’s hand will be a quick fix, but at least it’s a known injury.

You have waited too long on Zorko so it’s really too late to save cash.

Has to be Greene that goes.

      1

      0
  30. 3 planned future midfield upgrades – currently confident two of these will be Danger and Macrae

    T/U – M.Crouch
    T/D – Zerrett

Already have D.Martin, Fyfe, Coniglio, Mitchell, Cripps.
Comment if someone else (eg Oliver) should be considered instead

    8

    4
    1. Crouch BE of 182. Hold off and can get him cheaper in the next week or 2 (also get to see how me comes back from his Hammy).

Zerrett only going to rise in price.

      1

      0
      1. Obviously would target Crouch when cheaper, however need to make a choice now as if I get Zerrett I wont have room for Crouch over the next round or two if I pull the trigger.

        1

        0
        1. Maybe concentrate on other positions now. Danger and Crouch can wait and Macrae is currently priced high and will be for a while after last week’s effort.

Have you posted in Rate My Team? It’d be easier to give more informed views.

          1

          0
  31. 24 Trades left.

Billings just not cutting the mustard for me. Plenty of cash in the bank (double downgraded last week).

T/U – Billings and Bonner to Sicily and Zerret (via DPP)
    T/D – Save the trades.

I see Sicily (if he can pull his head in) being a top 6 defender and Zerret filling the m8 spot. Leaning towards pulling the trigger now as they wont be this cheap again.

    8

    1
  32. Have got Toby Greene and Michael Walters in my forwards and can’t afford to carry both of them. Greene sounds a little indefinite while Walters sounds better than expected, so I’m leaning towards Greene out.

    t/u: Trade Greene
    t/d: Trade Walters

    Cheers

  33. 2 Week plan

    This week:

    Murray>Sicily
    Stephenson >Spargo

    Next week:

    Holman >MCrouch
    Banfield >Worpel/Mutch

    Thoughts appreciated

    5

    2
  34. I need to get rid of Dunkley – have both buddy and Petracca out so need a consistent scorer.

Who’s going to score more for the rest of the year

    TU – McLean
    TD – Westhoff

    15

    3
        1. Ryder’s return may well negatively impact Westhoff. Maybe not, but MCLEAN is a safer, more consistent option I think.

          3

          0
        1. Definitely go Mclean then. Getting a lot of midfield time and been one of my better forwards so far this season

          0

          0
  35. Looking at potentially a 1up 1down, bit unsure atm if Murray is going to rise a lot more over the next 2/3 rounds….with a be of 54!

Anyone know how Lachlan Murphy from the Crows is traveling? Be of -53 & looked decent until he was injured!

    1

    1
    1. FDs CowTalk is awesome this week. I strongly recommend reading it fully, before making decisions on Murray and Murphy.
On another note, you may have to wait til later in the week to know Murphy’s chances of playing this week. Sounds like he’s in contention.

      1

      0
      1. Thanks, allsaints

Already have, he agrees he’s the first of the 3 musketeers to go….I’d be trading in Sicily so I’d be improving on points by 30-40 per week!

No intel on Murphy though, I’m pretty sure I read on the AFC site last week he was a 50/50 to play last round…but he didn’t play in the SANFL last week end

        1

        0
        1. Sicily looks like a good move mate. M

On Murphy, maybe they were resting that hammy so he’s good to go this week. I hope so as I have him, though would equally be happy to loophole Naughton through him against Murray this week.

          1

          0
        2. I’m planning on Sicily in to forwards THIS week, squeeze another 10k out of Murray this week, then shift him out, swinging Sicily back.

This also lets me bring in Mutch on the bubble…

          2

          1
  36. Anyone heard any whispers about GWS this week?
They are jumping out of trees to back Geelong which usually means some big selection news. Don’t be surprised if GWS are missing some good players on Friday night. Coniglio?

    0

    2
    1. Just had a look at Sportsbet and geel $1.40 v gws $2.95. That can’t be right. There is no way Geelong r that much of a better side.

      0

      0
      1. Have we not already had the big news?!
No Greene, no Kelly, no Cameron and no Deledio.
No other AFL side would be competitive with comparative OUTs.

        2

        0
    1. I doubt Petracca is going to play. Had a second bout of surgery and he did an interview yesterday saying he hasn’t done anything other than a few walks since playing last. Doubt he’ll get the k’s in the legs for him to be selected

      2

      0
      1. Thanks mozman for that info. Going to be tough to hold both. Hopefully my rookies can post some decent scores to loop before I have to make a call on a trade

        0

        0
    2. Be warned. As PJ told me in trade or hold earlier today, last year the FURL convinced him six weeks running that “Sandilands will be back next week” and it never eventuated.

  37. What are your thoughts on Callum Sinclair as a ruck option in the long term. Seems to be putting out some good numbers but maybe consistency is a problem. Have thoughts of trading Stef Martin for him…

    T/U Good trade
T/D Stick with the Big Brissy Bloke

    0

    6
    1. That’s rank sideways at best, probably a downgrade that costs you points and makes you $20K. Stef’s going well it’s a crazy trade. Shelve those thoughts!

      4

      0
    1. Choice might be made for you. ZGL isn’t certain to get up this week from his minor knee injury from last game
