  1. Unfortunately I’m going to have to miss Bailey Smith this week. I’m forced to make a Pittonet to ruck trade (Probably Gawn). My other trade will probably be a downgrade, likely Green or McInerney for a rookie. Is Simpson still a viable pick up even after the 50-60k rise in price?
T/U: Yes! Job security looks pretty good with more injuries to the Cats
    T/U: Nope, look elsewhere

    1. JS was already decent with injuries to the Cats and two good performances, now very solid with Ablett out. Bring him in.

  2. Culling Pittonet and bringing in Ridley this week, but don’t know which rookie to get rid of. Got a playing Starcevich @ D6 and a non-playing Butler @ D7. Would be nice to push Starc to down to D7 and get rid of a dead rookie, but it’ll cost me an extra 110k~.

    What to do?

T.U: Cash is key, get rid of Starcevich and bank the 110k for upgrades next week.

T.D: Starc will be useful during the byes, clear out the dead wood in Butler.

    1. Im carrying Starc for a bit longer. Yes he is losing cash but he is still in our best 22 and he will come in handy as m/d swing with butler during byes

      13

  3. If you got the cash, is Gawn a must?

    T/U Yes absolutely!
T/D No, use the cash and make up in other areas

      1. B – Doc, Sic, Rid, Laird, Starc, Hill. Bench – Brander, Gould

C – Neale, Titch, Steele, Danger, Cripps, Cogs, Pickett, Simpson. Bench – D.Robertson, T.Green, Rivers

        R – Grundy, Pitt. Bench – Conroy

        F – Simpkin, Martin, A. Brayshaw(Freo), D.Smith, Vandermere, Rankine. Bench – Budarick, D.Cameron

Sitting in top 2% and scored 2200 this week so still waiting for rank change. Have 470k in bank, still need to upgrade rookies

        1. Your cash generation is running thin, Dew.

No one on your DEF or MID bench is playing and neither is your F8. While Gawn’s the obvious choice, you could grab Rankine and Simpson this week instead to sure up your side, both in terms of warm bodies and cash gen, for the byes.

  4. I have most of the good midfield rookies (and midfield coverage), with no coverage in the backline. With 560k in the bank from last week’s double downgrade, I can either go:

TU Macrae, Smith in for Brander (FWD), Brown
TD Ryan, Smith in for Brander (FWD), Starcevich

    Thoughts coaches?

  5. Whats more important to you, Gawn and downgrade a rookie or move pitt to English as a stepping stone and upgrade Starc Hill or even D Smith albeit i think the previous 2 are more pressing issues.

        1. Hi Zac, Mayes was an emergency about 17 times before having his debut. During that time they had few injuries In the mids as well. JS is not solid but he could just be a nice rookie POD downgrade. Get Eggmolese-Smith.

  6. Okay week 1 of taking out the trash.

McInerary > Simpson (Keeping Budarick/Starc as bench cover since their JS is solid)

    Rozee > Bailey Smith.

Brought Rozee the week before he scored the 145 and since then his been a disaster. Lost his midfield time and more importantly lost me money. Swapping Pittonet for Gawn last week was clutch so hoping for more of the same.

    1. Did some reshuffling and if i go:

Brander > Simpson (via Rivers dpp)

      I can get C.Taylor > Bailey Smith

This gives Rozee another chance but leaves me with 100$.

  7. This week going T.Brown to Treloar
    Then thinking;

    Tu; Budarick to Bailey Smith

Td; Budarick to Simpson (even after price rise)

  8. Is Steele a must? Ranked top 10 overall and dominating in the saints engine room..

    TU he’s a bull…get him before he tops 620+
Td he won’t last. Wait for the lull to hit

    11

    13
    1. Tough.

Taylor has the higher BE (80) but might hit that v Blues. King’s BE’s is only 53 and he might struggle v Port. Taylor probably the better on-field option through the byes, so maybe send King packing.

  9. Does anyone see Derek Eggmolese-Smith ($246.9k) as a viable option in the defense?

He looks to have the Houli role, and could be a good cash generator before moving him onto one of the clear Top 6 defenders.

  11. score of 2347 this week with $285K in bank, which i believe is more good luck than good management. Team is

Haynes, doc, ridley, saad, day, macpherson (rivers, gould)

neale, cripps, macrae, titch, steele, simpkin, viney, pickett (mcinerney, bennell, robertson)

    gawn, grundy (cameron)

    whitfield, greenwood,dsmith, vandermeer,king,rankine (taylor,aarts)

bench is shit defence wise – do i

t/u trade to get bench coverage or
t/d trade to upgrade on field?

  12. Big call this week, definitely an upgrade needed. Stuck between Treloar and Bailey Smith, both should comfortably beat the breakevens. King will probably go out. Whichever player I don’t get, should have enough cash to get the week after.

    TU: Treloar (via DPP)
    TD: Bailey Smith

  13. Season is shot. Had a minimum of one premo per week going down injured and well out of the race. It’s been so dire I’ve been stuck with a donut the last two weeks.

Cash is no object – Looking at one of Whitfield/Petracca/ Greenwood for the forward line.

    Still need to upgrade
    Starcevich / noble , 1 onfield
    Buderick / Pickett , 1 onfield
    Taylor / king ( stk ) 1 onfield
Defiantly bringing in Smith this week
& not sure what to do with Ceglar ?

    1. I’d be wary of Simpson now. JS is good, but had 0 CBA and with Ablett missing weeks, Simpson could be a permanent forward. Was only on 13 or something at HT, and if he drops a 30-40 now, it’ll kill his cash gen.

      7

      6
  15. So my plan to get Gawn in this week took a massive hit with Pittonet’s pitiful score. My trade out targets for this week are Townsend and Pittonet’s and this was supposed to net me both Gawn and Macrae.
My current midfield consists of Neale,
    Mitchell Greenwood,Cripps,
    Yeo,Viney,Pickett and Simpson
If I go Gawn it only leaves me with 533 k for a midfielder. If I go Goldie I can have any midfielder I like. The same if I went English. Do I
    TU Gawn and Cogs
    TD Goldy/English and Macrae

  19. Would appreciate thoughts, contemplating whether to keep D Smith (BE 89):

T/U: Trade D Smith to Bailey Smith
T/D: Keep D Smith and Upgrade C Taylor (BE now 80) to Bailey Smith.

    Cheers everyone, good luck!!

  20. Double upstage or double downgrade

    Brander, T.Green – S.Simpson, S,Mayes

    1. I think we’ll have rolling byes. 2-4 teams having byes per week for the next 5 or so rounds. Dees and Dons are considered to have had their bye so there won’t be any more, Saad is worth considering for this reason

TU: Taylor/King to B Smith and Tom Green to Whitfield

  24. Would like to get Gawn in for Pitt, could easily trade in Starc, T Green, McInerney, King, Taylor. Who should I dump?

    My Team:
Def: Haynes, Doc, Sicily, Ridley, SPS, Starc (Rivers, BZT)
Mid: Cripps, McRae, Bont, C Oliver, Simpkin, Whitfield, D Smith, Pickett (T Greenm McInerney, Robertson)
    Ruck: Grundy, Pitt (D Cameron)
Fwd: Petracca, Martin, Taylor, King, Rankine, Aarts (Brander, Sturt)

The AFL website posts CBA’s every week and I use FanFooty to check stats and that also has TOG.

  27. Thoughts on Ben McKay’s JS?

Need a good DEF downgrade for Young to bring in Gawny, and can’t afford Day since Pitto had a shocker. Already have McPherson and Hamill. Alt is Butler.

    TD: Butler

  28. Got 1million to spend on 1 defender and 1 forward after trading out starc and d.smith. Got Grawndy and 6 premo mids with nice rookies so I’m happy there.

    Current lineup is:
Def: Lloyd, doch, sicily, s.hill, mcpherson
For: Walters, A.brayshaw, whitfield, king, rankine

I’m thinking dusty and houston.. I’ve already got bont and macrae so not sure about smith.. but it would allow me to then get any defender (Haynes I like)

    Cheers

  29. Any love for Dayne Zorko?

Only 487k with a BE of 55 due to his injury-affected score in R4 (where he was on track to go huge before the injury). Only in 1.5% of teams.

TU: Might be a good POD
    TD: Just get Bailey Smith

    15

    4
  30. Who to trade out for Bailey Smith this week? Curtis Taylor has a BE of 80 and will lose a little bit of of cash but is averaging better than max king who is creeping towards his culling point.

    T/U : trade Taylor
    T/D: trade King

Comment cut Darcy Cameron from my bench (ill net ~140k less)

  31. Going to turf Starcevich.

TU: Ben Mckay (146k) with his debut of 86
    TD: McPherson (158k) with his 76, 52.

  32. Best trade target for a fallen premium mid; Tim Kelly, Coniglio, or Yeo?

    TU: T. Kelly ($511k)
    TD: Coniglio ($501k)
    Comment: Yeo ($499k)

  33. TU
    – Pitt > Gawn
    – King/Taylor > Rankine

    TD
    – Pitt > Gawn
    – King/Taylor > Bsmith

have 500k in the bank atm but need to start bringing in premos, but also rankine seems like too much cash to give up and could potentially score well anyway as he has so far

  34. Pittonet > Gawn
    ??? > Bailey Smith

I’m trying to figure out who would be the best upgrade candidate for Smith, I have plentiful options due to DPP magic.

Here are my eligible candidates: Budarick, Sturt, Townsend, Taylor, McInerney, Rivers

Obviously best to wait til teams on Thursday, but would love to hear who you all think is a priority upgrade (if there is one).

    1. I would be getting rid of any non-playng rookies. Warm bodies on the bench should be vital over the next few weeks.

      4

  35. Trade 1: Brown > Simpson
    Trade 2: ???

    T/U: Naismith > Bailey Smith ($11k Bank)
    T/D: Non-playing rookie > Rookie
eg. Brander/Sturt/Rivers > Mcpherson/Day/etc for bigger bank and get Smith next week.
I have Budarick,Starc and Taylor but can’t afford to offload them as they are my only playing bench atm.

  36. To the tiger army
Will Jake Aarts survive after kicking a couple that could easily been four ?
makes me nervous not having bench cover for next week if he gets dropped

TD-players coming back , could be shakey

  37. Going two premo mids in this week I think, already have Bazlenka and Gawn. Have 600k in the bank so can grab basically any two I want. Using DPP, I’m going Taylor and King out for Luke Parker and another fallen premo. Thinking either:

TU: Gaff, usually consistent but can be tagged out of games.
TD: Zorko, high ceiling and 1% ownership, super cheap but injury prone?

    Keen to hear peoples thoughts.

Should I get rid of green & pittonet for Simpson & O’Brien

    T/D option 2

  42. SOS (Son of Shaggi) wants to know coaches thoughts on his trade for this week.

    Devon Smith and Pittonet out
    Parker and Coniglio in

Only leaves 5k in the bank though

    4
    1. Shaggi, hard to say. I’ve got D Smith in my lineup aswell. Right now, he’s scoring, below expectations, but scoring. I’ve decided to hold him for now….suitable for F5 or 6.

I’d be losing Pittonet for sure.

Smith depends on your team list. I dropped King and Green for Greenwood and Simpson.

I’m going all guns blazing from here on in. Points or bust!

  43. ripper round for me, 2,328 points with grundy captain instead of gawn, pretty happy about that, ive got 100k in the bank and am looking to get another star backman, already had maynard, doedee, docherty, daniel, starcevich and w. day in the backline, thinking of trading out either starcevich now or waiting on days price to increase and trade him, thoughts
TU: wait on days price to go up
TD: get rid of starcevich now

    2

    6
    1. I would say JS is pretty good.
Brown needs support in the forward line and Walker looked okay up there.
Therefore we need another tall back and he had a good game against Lynch holding him goalless.
He wont pick up many possies but will rely on defensive actions like spoils and 1%’a to score.
The only down side I can see is Msjak must be getting close to a return

  44. You guys are probably sick of me posting every week, but I’m just trying to do what I can to improve on having some kind of success this year (which is highly unlikely at this point).

So I did a lot better last week, but again I’m in a pit of fire with the amount of people I need to get rid of.

    My current team:
DEF – Docherty, Laird, Doedee, Hurn, Starcevich, Williamson (Brander, Rivers)
MID – Treloar, Macrae, J. Kelly, Bontempelli, Cripps, Whitfield, Budarick, Pickett (Green, McInerney, Brown)
    RUC – Grundy, Pittonet (Conroy)
FWD – Simpkin, Martin, D. Smith, Taylor, King, Rankine (Aarts, Cameron)

    $357k remaining

I was originally thinking of doing Starcevich and Devon Smith out for Ridley and Bailey Smith, but I just think of the full list that I need to get rid of:

Starcevich, Williamson, Brander, Rivers, Green, Budarick, McInerney, Brown, D. Smith, Taylor and Cameron. I’m not sure which ones I should get to bugger off out of my team first.

So the question again this week is the same as last week. Which people should I trade in/out, or should I just quit and give up because I suck?

    1

    0
    1. Hey man don’t stress about posting, the whole point of this website is for everyone to help each other out and be each other’s soundboard!

As for your team I think pitto is gotta be a big point to upgrade this week so go pitto to Gawn and start getting some bench cover and cash generation. As your second trade I think it’s gotta be Brown or McInerney down to a rookie possibly Simpson if you think he’s your best choice. If you get Simpson I think you can move budarick onto bench and pray Simpson gets time in the middle rather than up forward

      7

      0
      1. Would you blame me if I got Goldstein instead of Gawn?
Not that Gawn’s anywhere near being a bad player, not doubting his legendary skills. And I don’t mean to brush off your advice with any disrespect either. But I don’t think spending around $800k on someone is worth it. I’d rather wait a few weeks for his price to go down if I was to get him. Goldstein hasn’t gone below 107 this year, and averages more than Grundy. So he’s very consisent too, plus he saves me another $107k. Only 5.8% of people have him too, so he could prove to be a very handy POD.

        4

        2
        1. I don’t think anyone would fault you for going with Goldy but you have to make the extra cash work for you. Obvious I know, but it’s a bit more than ‘just get a better player’ – it’s a math problem.

Assuming Goldy and Gawn continue around their current averages (which is reasonable given that both are veterans with long histories of good scoring), then you are giving up 200 points for the rest of the season (20 ppg x 10 games) but saving 107k.

Is there another spot on-field where that 107k can gain you an extra 200 points over the remaining 10 games? Probably – just need to be reasonably certain that the increase will hold for the season (and / or the cash increase will be sufficient for upgrades – in regular years, that target is 150k but I think most coaches are going with 100-125k this year).
*Side note – this is why these moves matter more earlier in the season – it’s harder to make a 50 ppg trade in round 14 than a 20 ppg trade in round 8.*

For example: Budarick is averaging 50 @ 223k . Mayes / Simpson / Pickett are all under 330k and should average 70 from here (Mayes / Simpson’s scores will certainly drop from their current averages). You can do the same for Starcevich, Williamson, Taylor, and King.

It’s harder to find a 20+ ppg increase for a mid-priced or premium player. Take Devon Smith as an example, he’s averaging 80 for the year. Priced at 390k, you’d need someone under 500k that’s averaging 100 in order to get the same ‘points return on-field’ – and there isn’t a player that fits that bill at the moment. If you consider 3- or 5-round averages, you’d find Dixon, Lambert, and Jack Martin would fit the bill. Will they maintain a 100+ average? Dixon has only ever achieved a 90 average twice (2013 and 2017) and has been in the league for 10 years – unlikely he’s a break-out candidate. Lambert’s been a high-80’s average for 3 years but is in the right age-range for a break-out (more likely, his increase is due to the injuries at Richmond). Martin also doesn’t have the history on his side (low 80’s average most years) but he played for the Suns, who were not great over that period of time. His age (25) says potential break-out and his current role at Carlton is a good fit for his skill set. Of the three, I’d be most confident with Martin but having said that, I’d be more confident that Pickett or Simpson can maintain a 70-average.

          * I’m ignoring clearing out your bench even though that is also necessary.

          3

  45. Hutta , question for you.
Macrae has had a very average
( by his standards) start to the year. He seems to be just hitting his straps now, any coincidence that both his poor start and recent form return is due to Bailey Smith? In a nutshell is Bailey Smith taking points off him?

    1. Gawn has a game in hand and is going to be in the mix for captaincy duties each week. That’s worth the extra cash

  48. Current mids: Fyfe, Cripps, Oliver, macrae, bont, Simpkin, Pickett, simpson

    Tu:
Fyfe > Greenwood (Can dpp swap your fwd line
    Brander > Petracca

    Td:
    Fyfe > treloar
Cameron (via Williams ruck dpp) > eggmolesse-smith

(Gets starc off the field but I can keep him as emergency and have the egg as a healthy d6)

  49. Looking to bring it Bazlenka like everyone else. Tossing up between Max King who has mostly peaked or Tom Green who isn’t getting a game but might with these shorter breaks. Also considering just cutting ties with Devon Smith but the bombers not having a bye is appealing to keep him around a bit.

    TU: M King
    TD: T Green

    Comment: D Smith

    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Cameron)
FWD: Whitfield, D.Martin, D.Smith, C.Taylor, Rankine, Mahony (Brander, Aarts)

19 Trades left, $268,000 in the bank

  51. Rucks are a bit of an issue for me with Nic Nat and Pitt so getting rid of Pitt this week.

    TU: B Grundy
    TD: T English

    Comment: any other ideas

Worth noting I started with English and traded him to Pittonet after a lousy start so it would hurt a little to go back now

    1. I have been all over Taylor Adams Tully.
Well all over him in the sense that I keep putting him on my watchlist, but never actually trade him in……..this might be the week though.

Steele probably has the ability to go bigger, but I think Adams has the consistency. I don’t think he has been below 100 yet this year.

      Either is a good option.

    1. Worth keeping in mind that D Smith has a game in hand. Not killing it with his average but his total points might make it worth keeping him if you can

  52. What are we doing with Simpkin having missed training and missing this week?

Tu: Hold (should only be a 1 week injury)

TD: Trade (could be 2+, with extra trades get rid of him)

    1. Was just thinking this, If I trade out Pitt and Simpkin I now have cash for Gawn and other other premo, but not sure if I want to trade out Simpkin if its only going to be a week long injury

    2. Im contemplating the same and swapping to Petracca. Just trying to work out what Simpkins price might be after 2 games back (gold isnt showing a BE or price for any of the new round at the moment)

  53. I’ve given up this season. Looked forward to this week, was expecting a big score but with Simpkin injured I have to field a Aarts over him how great.

  54. Trading out Fyfe. Wanted Parker but the Bye throws him off

    T/U – Treloar
    T/D – Petracca

    Comments – Adams, Steele, Petracca

    1. Treloar is gonna have a bye at some point as well. If you’re worried about a player missing just one week then you have to take Melbourne or Essendon players

    1. Just my opinion and feel free to do otherwise. But if I were you I’d trade Brander/Taylor (leaning towards Brander) and pick up Bailey Smith with your first trade. I’d probably downgrade with your other trade. McInerney for either Egg or Mayes who are likely to make a bit of cash over the next few weeks

      1. Eggs is DEF and How secure is Mayes’ JS, was looking to get Bailey Smith.

Whats better to trade Brander and Switch via DPP and have Stephen hill on my FWD bench, and Bailey smith would replace McInerney in that midfield space.

  56. TU – Tom Green & Ben King -> Adam Treloar & Bailey Smith + $230k

TD – Bailey Williams & Ben King -> Jake Lloyd & Bailey Smith + $150k

Could trade out Starc & Taylor but I want bench cover coming into byes

  57. Hello all, with the extra trades in mind is it worth trading an injured premo to get big Max in ? Might be now or never..

    TU: Simpkin/Taylor > Gawn/ Simpson.. 2k itb

TD: double downgrade Taylor/Brander> Simpson/Macperson or McKay .. and keep Pittonet…200k itb
