  1. Callum Mills this week or wait a week and cough up an extra 30K to see if he is a legit D6?
11 trades and decent cash gen left, 2 rookies off full premo
    TU: This week

  2. Can Mcarthy be a genuine D6 option?

Was planning on grabbing Mills this week, however do I just plan on grabbing my last fwd instead?

    Thoughts appreciated!

  3. Playing for overall, decision on my hands..

Tu: Make my final upgrades this week but will leave me with 4 trades remaining with a fully complete team

Td: Wait till the likes of Johnson & Carroll make more $$, probably won’t make my last upgrade for another couple of weeks but could end up saving an extra trade which will leave me with 5 trades remaining with a fully complete team

If i make 3 trades to get mills at D6 to end on 5 trades with 20 premiums (including matt roberts, bolton and caleb daniel)
    is that fine

    TU: Make the 3 trades
TD: I make 2 trades for mills but have to get rid of mcaulliffe

    • Yeah I think he is an option mate, taking out his injury game he is averaging 109 this year. Has a high BE of 147 this week but has Richmond and very favourable draw for remainder of season. I feel him and JHF are both genuine options at serious value due to injuries. Especially with the likes of Warner, Rankine and Bolton all underperforming of late.

    • Yep he was my POD at the start of the year and very happy with him early on until injured. Now I’m trying to get him back in but don’t have a way yet. He’s highly likely to have a field day against Richmond

    • Butler has looked very solid, and it looks like Hustwaite is now going back to the two’s

Butler has even been getting some CBA’s in the past couple of weeks – all whilst Hawthorn have had 2 x great wins against quality opposition

I like him for SC, and will be bringing him in next week

  7. Draft league:

    T/U: Sheldrick
    T/D: T McCarthy

I currently own Sheldrick, and while he has been scoring okay recently, I worry that guys like Mills and Gulden returning may eat away at his opportunities.
I know 1 game sample size for Mccarthy isnt much and he won’t drop 130+ every week, but he looked quite good

  9. Best bottom-price rookie outside of Mccarthy to bring in? Need to get Mills (due to trade and cash gen constraints) or I probably won’t be able to hit 23 premos, trading out Pedlar and Clarke (or two dead rookies) and need a basement priced rookie to finish the trade, is Madden safe to field?

Tu: Fonti to Mills. Just Hewett at F6 to upgrade
Td: Fonti, Hustwaite, Hewett to Mills, JHF, Liddy (or any 99k with mid status). Will have a complete team with 4 injury / Luxury trades left.

Already have McCarthy on my mid bench

    • Tough one, Chad probably slightly ahead because he has a game this week. Rankine down on form but still having serviceable scores, has the Tiges next week too. They’ll probably end up similar ROS, with Chad having more high highs and low lows

  12. Ok have potentially a ridiculous question for trade options.

Team is (after Hardeman > Mills this week):

Sinc, Holmes, Zorko, Dale, Sheezel, Roberts (Gray, Clarke)
Libba, Daicos, Merrett, Neale, Cerra, Butters, Brayshaw, Rozee (Hust, Saad, T. Mcc)
    Gawn, Xerri (Boyd)
Smith, Martin, Daniel, Warner, Rankine, Phillipou (Gross, Simpson)
    Mills

7 trades left and no cash in bank. Do either of these trades look good for the next couple of weeks?

TU: Gawn > TDK, Clarke > 99k, Gray > Dylan Moore or Sam Darcy depending on cash avail. 4 trades left but full 23 prems + phill and T.Mcc as backups
TD: Clarke > Bo Allan, Roberts > Bont. Leaving 22 prems and Phillipou as F6, but super strong players in the 22

Asking this week as prob will pull the trigger on the Gawn to TDK move this week if so… Reasoning would be Gawn’s tough run + cash to do the F6 upgrade.

Thanks all and thanks for everything this season SC Talk crew!

  13. Slightly unsure how to attack the run home. 9 trades left, 22 premos, but minimal cash generation:

    TU:
Use 3 trades to get Clarke to a $400kish (Mills) in flex

    TD:
Use McCarthy in flex, upgrade lower end premos instead (Dunkley, Daniel, Rankine, etc)

  14. This week:
    Hustwaite > Rowston
    Pedlar > Martin

    Gives me $133k

    Then I’m thinking next week
Clarke > Allen (Adds another $80-100k)
Kako > Butler or Ramsden (Another $100k+)
Either getting my final premo forward that week or the week after to get a full premo side by the time the byes have finished. Looking at getting JHF back in at this point

    • Tough call

Jack Martin is very injury prone, but probably has better job security than Butler

As Worpel now needs to come back into the Hawks team – and then Butler is competing with guys like Cam MacKenzie & Finn Maginness & maybe even Jack Scrimshaw

  18. I currently have Gawn and Xerri as rucks, and TDK as flex.

I have two more upgrades to make to get to full premo – Pedlar and B.Paton in forward line.

Is it madness to trade TDK down next week to Tom McCarthy as a cash grab, then use the cash to upgrade to Darcy and JHF?

Using those 3 trades would leave me 6 trades left:

TU: TDK out (next week), Tom Mac in
TD: hold TDK and wait for more cows to fatten

  19. brock, flynn, hall > Mills, darcy, prestia

Would’ve loved to have traded a more dead rookie (hust, gray,) over hall but couldn’t quite afford it.

I’ve moved martin to defence to bring in darcy as f6 and mills as d6 (for now). Prestia as flex.

Leaves me with only 7 trades but basically ‘full premo’ in an ideal world mills and prestia average 95+ but should be easy sideways in a few weeks when they inevitably go down.

    • not a massive fan of key forwards, can be hot and cold. I held J Cameron for a total of two weeks, for a 106 and a 28. i decided i can’t live like this.

but Dogs do have a decent run of games for the second half of the year, so if you have the stomach for a key forward, he should be ok

    • In a similar spot, going down to under 5 trades at this time of year is just way too risky. I would hold McCarthy for now definitely and hope he keeps this role long term. Worst case, wait till he makes some decent cash and then flick him?

Have another look at him round 16, and if it’s not good then hopefully have enough cash to use only two trades to get to a good D6. While it’s best 18, he should be okay to hold it down! And maybe he’s awesome? Haha!

    Plan A

    Kako>Mills (via DDP)
    Eramus>Madden(via DDP)
Leaves me with a “full premo”side, or more accurately no rookies on field, and 12 trades. Can get Mills and Bont by trading Roberts instead of Neale but would take four trades over next two weeks.
    Plan B
    Roberts>Mills
    Kako> Butler (or best rookie)

Bevo has stated he will add an extra string to his bow and will spend time at half back which has happened last 2 weeks. Like everyone else low on trades but midfield is where our engine room is. I’m happy to trade down to get Bont next week when cheaper or grab Ed Richard’s now .

Not sure if going Rankine to JHF is too sideways? It would help with points this week at least and Rankine hasn’t scored 100+ for a while so may be better going forward also. Wicks is not named this week. Hewett I feel maybe worth holding for some more cash. I will have enough money for this trade with some other moves this week. Cheers all 🙂
