  1. Easy one for me.

    English in

    M McGovern out

My only concern is that it may leave me not being able to do the captains loophole

    15

  2. Marshall and Baldwin out for English and Martin. Should have enough cash to squeeze the trades through.

    1. Will be an unpopular take but: trade.

Hawks with a really wide midfield mix, Titch with stints at HF and wing and doesn’t really need to be OB for four quarters giving it his all in a rebuilding side.

      3x 80s at 630k doesn’t lie.

    2. Gotta trade.
I traded him before he dropped 55k and glad I did. Did go to Brayshaw who copped a hard tag but somehow hobbled to a 95 but long term it was the right move. Titch is playing a 70/30 mid fwd split and that groin looks to be affecting him imo .

  3. Will be bringing in N. Martin for Owens but also considering whether to put my 95k ITB to work and get Xerri in.

Would require sacking one of elevated starting price rookies but Xerri’s 80 v Big O and Fort in a 100 point thumping was impressive. Also rucks against a Hickey-less Swans.

Slight concern that North getting pumped each week will cap his scoring but the #1 ruck scoring stream is appealing.

    We’ll see.

      1. Yeah. Blasted off with 3 last week, Baz.

Usually don’t like to trade early but needed to get Neale in and get rid of Whitty (or so I thought). N. Martin this week and then I’ll chill.

Any thoughts on the Xerri move with that considered?

        1. With 3 trades down I’d cut my losses with Xerri so long as your existing F5-6 are no worse than Rachele, Martin Hayes types.

          1. I reckon this season luxury trades will have a double meaning.
            a) those nice trades toward the pointy end of the season
            b) when uber premos miss due to covid protocols and you have trades up your sleeve to go for example a touk to steele in the event steele is a forced out.
WCoast last week is a good example.
We have 5 more trades but I reckon we will need them.

            1. I don’t really have the spot for xerri and will need to use 2 trades but agree with you gd I think I’ve gotta get him in, is burning me too much not having him and getting that cash.

                1. Hey guys on Xerri ..

I think if your running Witts or Pruess at R2 then Xerri is almost a must have. He will definitely get Ruck status in 2 rounds and will be more than handy cover.

  4. Crisp testing my patience, but he started last season in a similar manner before coming good. Plus bloke is cast iron.

Might look and see if any rookies are worth shedding Owens or Sheldrick for.

    7

    1
  5. Time for Crisp to go.

Doesn’t seem to have the role with a healthy midfield mix + lipinski.

    Welcome Segull or Stewart

    1. Had Dusty last season and just seeing him underperform and loose money for half the season before eventually having to trade him out 200k cheaper has me worried about crisp.

I just feel that 1 trade now is better then 2 trades later (to get back up to a premo) plus 200k cash loss if he averages closer to 80 plus however many points lost until this swaps out

      3

      2
    2. He’s had the 3rd most CBA’s at Collingwood behind De Goey (not playing this week) and Adams. He’ll be fine

      2

      1
  6. Will wait until the rookie review to make sure I haven’t missed anyone, otherwise will likely hold. Already used 4 trades.

    3

  7. Just 1, Martin for Baldwin purely for cash gen. Happy otherwise, best of trading coaches! (Though hoping you all need as little as possible this week)

    9

    0
  8. Ward for Martin? Ward seems a very slow burn and on field. I bank 96k from it, only got 20k in the bank. I then loop Rachele/MacDonald.

    14

    2
  9. Is Rachele for Xerri crazy? Only used 2 trades so far and don’t need to use any this week.

    TU: do it
    TD: crazy talk

    25

    52
    1. A bit crazy, but what about waiting a week and grabbing Preuss? Assuming tou have DPP to make it work, it gives Rachele another chance to go big or make some more coin.

      5

  10. I’m deciding if I should trade butters for English for upgrade and extra cash generation what do you think.

    T/U – to English
    T/D – keep Butters

    5

    86
  11. Marshall down to preuss, Rachele to English. If something happens to pruess can always swing English into the ruck. Marshall can’t score with Ryder in the team as shown tonight

    9

    1
      1. No harm in waiting a week and grabbing the extra cash from Rachele if you’re really that intent on moving him for Pruess I would think.

        10

        1
        1. Thanks mate thought about it might as well get another week of cash generation (hopefully) from Rachele then do the trade

          2

          1
          1. The problem with that is Rachele’s BE is 42, and at his projected score of 71, he only makes another 12k. Things get a little better up to R9 if he can maintain that 71 average, but it’s a big ask when from R6 he’s looking at dogs giants, Blues, lions. He likely needs to go in one of the next two weeks, after the bombers or tigers game. Reef McInnes looks a good downgrade next week.

            2

            5
            1. Whoever TD’d – do you think Rachele will out-perform that 71 avg? Or, other reason?

              2

              0
                1. WW
I didn’t thumbs down but Its just not as simple as maintaining a 71 average. Rachelle has showed his ceiling R1 and if he does that again he instantly restarts his cash gen.
It really hard to know what’s likely to happen but someone with the ability of Rachelle deserves at least another week as there almost no chance he looses money this week.

I would hold unless he’s the only way to get to Martin.

                  2

                  0
  12. T/U – Green
    T/D – Cripps
    # Really worried Cripps will get banged up and start to stall whereas rate Green

    23

    25
    1. One more week – he has the Bombers this week and might be a chance to kick a few.

If he turns out another 40, he won’t lose any cash and then you can turf him next week. Having said that, if you don’t have Martin then now is a good time to trade!

      13

      1
    2. Could easily kick a bag and restart his cash gen. One more week at least unless you have nobody else you can use to get Martin.

  13. Rage trading Crisp, Ryan, Daniel & Parish for the endorphins but in the end will have to live with them & hope they come good

    11

    1
  14. Trade out crisp + L ryan
(Crisp is horrible) L.Ryan to up and down, would rather consistent scoring.

    Trade in, Doc and Lloyd?

    T/U do it
    T/D hold

    8

    37
  15. Darcy –> English

    T/U – Yes
    T/D – No

Darcy cant seem to get healthy and even when he did only put up 70. Plus this allows me to take the 120k plus the 60k I have in the bank already to look at moving someone like Rachele on Next week if he doesnt perform enough to get that breakeven down

    37

  16. My current team:

DEF: Short, Crisp, Ridley, Hewett, McCartin, SDK (Gibcus, O’Driscoll)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, Neale, Rowell, Berry, Brodie, JHF, Daicos (Stephens, Ward, MacDonald)
    RUC: Grundy, English (Hayes)
FOR: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Cogs, Xerri, Rachele (Martin, Dixon)
$239k itb, only one trade made so far.
Not sure I really NEED (versus luxury) to make any changes. Anyone think any different?

    12

  17. Is Tom Green the real deal this season?

Want to upgrade this week and only move I can really do is D. Stephens > Green.

    T/U or T/D?

    44

  18. Is it too late to get Bowey? BE is -46.

TU – yes, it’s too late
TD – no, still a good trade in

    23

    14
    1. What do you think he’s going to average? Is he currently priced 30+ points below that? If yes, go ahead.

  19. Got 29 warm bodies atm and Long for C loop. Could chase last weeks pts with English, but would lose $ generation elsewhere. No plans to trade until the SC gods ruin my plans at selection.

    1. Long actually was a pest last week. First named in emergencies and great chance to be replacement.
Played well on weekend and will be close to game or named as replacement. Sweated on him last week!

  20. Brought Luke McDonald in, and was absolutely burnt this week.

TU – Flip to tom Green
TD – Hold it was just a bad week…

    1. Question is why did you bring him in?

But having brought him in – you can hardly trade him again after one week?

You will be quickly bereft of trades if that is your approach…

      20

      1
  21. Thoughts on trading Marshall to Pruess, have back up in Dixon and Hayes that could swing to ruck and last until R6 when Xerri will get Ruc status and can be R2 until trading for a fallen premo. Not sold on English as someone i want as a keeper.

TU- good idea, will need to get pruess in to make money, should score decent
TD- too risky, just trade straight for english

    14

    2
    1. My main concern would be how many games he plays. Reckon over the season, Marshall scores more pts.

  22. just waiting this week on Rachele for Preuss but…
do I trade a player like Balwin or Will Kelly for a player who will make me money instantly?

Balwin had a stinker in the VFL and doesnt look to get his spot back any time soon.

  24. Seriously considering – Parish & Berry > Tom Green & Ridley (This trade removes starting Berry & rookie down back)

TD: Hold Parish & Berry for now and save trades

    1. How many players on the round 12 bye is too many?

Currently ranked in the top 4K and Thinking about being aggressive and using 3 trades this week and making an early upgrade.

Would have 29 trades left and only 3 rookies on field

but would have 8 keeper ish players on the RD 12 Bye. 9 if i add Pruess next week on his bubble

      TU/ Do it

      TD/ too many aint fiddy

  25. Few rookies I am looking to bring in for Owens and/or Baldwin

Does anyone have any knowledge on the following players and their JS?

    Skinner
    Gollant
    O’Driscoll
    Hough

    Thanks in advance

    1

    0
    1. Skinner – pretty much Port’s only key defensive depth, needed someone to replace Aliir but hasn’t set the world on fire. Subbed for an injury late in the Showdown (foot or ankle apparently), but haven’t heard anything since so he could be fine or it could have been a tactical move to go smaller and put some speed on the game by subbing Frederick in (kicked a goal). Was also swung FWD the week before, so they don’t seem to be in love with him. Structurally, he has JS but wouldn’t want to be straight fielding him each week.

Gollant – was quite good with 4 goals and the Crows FWD line was nicely balanced. Will stick around but won’t bag 4 each week and will be a risk on field as a key tall from the Crows. Note that Tex will unsettle the FWD line entirely when he comes back.

O’Driscoll – doesn’t quite look up the level and not in the role he had over the pre-season that generated the hype. Don’t see an immediate threat to his JS though. Maybe Fyfe or Mundy when they return and move some magnets around.

Hough – JS is f*cked because of a) the recurring corona HS protocol situation and b) how bad we are this season. No point touching or trying to get a read on any Eagles rookies imo.

      6

      1. Thanks GD, much appreciated.

I may keep Owens as a loophole but Baldwin can be moved on, I do like Gollant but Tex will make it interesting, if named maybe Skinner due to DPP and flexibility.

        1

        0
        1. Np, LL.

Yeah, just watch teamsheets. That’ll be determinative. Eg. Skinner named, Gollant holds with Tex back.

          1

          0
          1. Sam Skinner – subbed off with a ankle injury

Ken Hinkley said: “I don’t know tonight. We’ll wait and see. We’ll get the results, once we look at them tomorrow they’ll fill me in.”

No further update but expect to know more today.

  26. DEF: Short, Crisp, Ridley, Bowey, Hinge, McCartin (Gibcus, De Koning)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, Miller, Neale, Rowell, JHF, Daicos, Stephens (Ward, Macdonald, Parker)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Hayes)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Martin (Rachele, Durdin)

    $39,100 remaining, 33 trades.

Is there anyone I should consider trading out, or hold with what I got?

    6

    0
    1. Nah, that’s a fantastic side, WW.

No moves needed. Premo selections on point, nailed the rookies. Great job.

      2

    2. As a Crisp owner I’m going to move him while a sideswap is still possible.

Suggesting everyone who has him does the same

      3

      21
    3. Nic Martin seems like a must-have, so potentially trade him in for one of your MID rookies (and swing Rachele into the MID). Or just switch Rachele for Parker, and ditch Parker (I assume that’s Charlie Parker?).

      0

      0
      1. Yeah that is Nic Martin in my forward line. Have him on field, seems that he’s doing better than the two on my bench.

  27. Well the best laid plans….

Was going to upgrade to Dunkley as a FWD this week but now can’t afford him by $3k , unless I do another trade (and if there’s 1 thing I learnt from last year, it’s not to throw around trades unless it’s necessary).

    So, here’s where I’m at:
    TU: English
    TD: Taranto
Both are useful as DPP. Thoughts?

OR, do I bite the bullet and bring Dunkley in with the extra trade now, or should I shelve this plan for later in the season?

Appreciate that better minds than mine can shed light on my dilemma.
    Thanks SC Coaches!

    16

    4
    1. Dunkley is basically maxed out on price (BE of 108) so it’s not like it’s now or never with him. I’d suggest waiting

      5

      2
  28. Contemplating getting Xerri in. It would take two trades to get him in.

TU Too late to get in Xerri
TD Xerri will be worth the trade

    25

    1. Too many magnets at the Bulldogs. Macrae is spending time on a wing at the moment. Roles change too often.

  29. No trades for me, but I have a sneaking suspicion Hall is gonna get dropped so could look at Short or someone else who sucks at footy but scores well for some reason.

    1

    20
    1. If you are talking about the Kangaroos Aaron Hall, I don’t think he is getting dropped anytime soon 🙂 🙂

Is in their best few players on their list, and has also been in their best few players in the last few weeks.

Coach Noble has much bigger issues than dropping Hall IMO.

    TU: OUT: Rachele, IN: Martin
    TD: Hold Rachele, Miss Martin

  33. No trades this week, however if Preuss backs it up again will contemplate going Witts to Preuss next week to bank the cash.

    1. The way Leon Cameron changes his team, that’s a pretty risky play (and I started Witts and ROB in the ruck).

      1

  34. Out- Rachele in martin.
Out- Perkins(was paid to score 70’s till upgrade) in Luke Jackson(keeper).

With jackson and Gawn should net around 200 pts between them each week and wont feel bad if Gawn spuds it up, if Jackson can cover for it some what.
So theoretically a tandem pick to hopefully net close to 200 each week.

Might look into more pairing up of players for 200pts. I have before, but actually see if their is something to it if i dig a bit deeper.

    2

    8
    1. I watched that game pretty closely, and thought Jackson looked very dangerous all night.

With a couple more things “falling his way” (extra contested mark or two, and kicking the goal he missed), he could have easily scored over 100 again on the weekend.

He is going to be a bit up & down (has scored 88 / 137 & 78 so far this year), but he should comfortably average 90+ in a very good Melbourne side.

      And maybe even give a 95 – 100 average a shake.

He was up $32K to $422K this week, and with FWD / RUCK dual position, he is definitely a strong hold IMO.

      2

  35. Got sidetracked at the weekend and I have McGovern who is now our for 3-4 weeks. Can I have suggestions for a forward. Only want to do 1 correction trade 300k to spend Currently have the usual rookies Rachelle xerri Martin and Hayes Suggestions please I do not have Brodie

    0

    0
      1. If you have a few more dollars than $300k, maybe consider Coniglio or Gresham around $335K if you don’t already have them.

If not, then the main options $300K & under for you appear to be:

Brodie – contested ball beast, great job security, just needs to find more uncontested footy, probably best pick here

Archie Perkins – high draft pick, second season, is a very good player, strong pre-season scoring (2 x tons), but hasn’t quite hit his straps yet against 3 x good teams (averaging 68.7 points in the first 3 x rounds).

Charlie Curnow – bit injury prone, and will definitely be up & down (with a high ceiling), but very good player in an improving team.

Ralphsmith – was injury sub in first game for 36 points, but solid player, and should score consistently between 50 and 80 points.

W Rioli – probably more of a cash grab here – after he scored 117 points in round 2 versus North.

        2

        0
  36. Pretty happy with my team with no trades required at the moment, i am contemplating a luxury trade of Gibcus to Hinge.

I feel i know how the vote will go, however i was bullish on Hinge in pre-season and the only reason i brought in Gibcus was the injury cloud around Hinge. I feel doing the trade will give me another viable on-field rookie to not have to solely rely on McCartin.

For reference i have only made the two trades so far.

    TU: Go for it.
    TD: Hold fire.

    9

    16
  37. TU : MARSHALL out for Tom GREEN via dpp, with GAWN & HAYES (StK) to ruck pending future trade up.

    TD: Hold Marshall

      1

  39. DEF: Lloyd, Crisp, Bowey, Chapman, Hinge, McCartin (SDK, Gibcus)
MID: McCrae, Oliver, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, JHF, Daicos (CMac, Hough, Tsitas-loop)
Ruck: Gawndy (J Williams – unused loop)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Hayes, Martin).

    $44,000, 32 trades.

Been thinking about trying to burn a couple more trades to squeeze Hewitt in. Would have to be at the expense of a combo of Bowey/Chapman and Rachele to Skinner or the like and a FWD bench player to D6. Maybe even a ruck downgrade. BUT the side is doing pretty well (in my league) and the players on the chopping block either seem to be doing OK or making $.

TU: Yes, you are being stupid
TD: Losing any of those to gain Hewitt would be a win.
    Comment: Have you thought of…?

    7

    2
    1. If you think he’s a keeper and will outscore the former go Crisp to Hewett and bank the 100k

      1

  40. Hey guys what do you think about this trade – really need to get cripps into my side and feel like it’s the only way

    Gawn to English
    Berry to cripps

    Thumps up if good idea
    Thumbs down if bad

    18

    2
      1. Your almost a week late on these trades?

If your serious about moving on gawn Personally I’d almost look at gawn -> Preuss build a warchest especially if you have xerri (going to be DPP in two weeks), Hayes and dixon for cover.. He looked very impressive and should have done enough to cement that #1 ruck spot so will make a ton of cash.

        Just my 2 cents, hugh.
        Good luck

  41. Gotta find a way to bring in NMartin.

    * Ward has a good role finding the pill gotta be patient with him a scores coming (or so I keep telling myself)

    * Stephens hmm that 23 seriously stalls the cash gen and is he gonna hold his spot in the swans 22? He may be the one to go

Don’t feel comfortable trading Rachelle, durdin, Dixon or Hayes out.

    1

    3
  42. I’ve used 6 trades already, ranked 5,200 and play for overall.

I have Milera and Stephens on my bench with Daicos at M8 and 158k bank.

Is it a completely stupid idea to trade Milera and Stephens for Tom Green and a def bench rookie/loop (missed Oliver VC last week cause no loop)? This leaves zero cash, Green would become M6, Daicos to bench.

TU – yes just hold your trades ffs
TD – do it since you currently have 13/30 players with a BE less than 5

    12

    10
    1. Lmao. So aggressive, SG!

If it were just rookie rearrangements I’d say hold fire but Milera’s 270k is too much dead money and I’m personally a fan of a designated loop.

Go for it. Tom Green looking money.

      1. Hahaha GD – I did the trade already but wanted to see if I can get double digit TDs for being so aggressive (or stupid) who knows!!!

I’ll let this idea brew for a while – CT published Green’s likely price increases in the coming weeks and he’s possibly only going to be 60k more exp in 3-4 weeks time so maybe I’m rushing it? Last year I ranked as high as 21 overall then ran out of trades a couple of weeks before SC finals, ended up 1,851 OA – maybe I should learn from that….but as Wighty will attest, I f*ing love that trade button!!!

        1. That much cash on your bench is a bit of a waste, but if you’re plan is to not need trades for any injuries or Covid protocols, you’re all set.

          1

          1
    2. So does this mean you will have used 9 trades and 3 boosts after this week?

If you’re playing for overall I think you have to do it. Quite a few of the top teams have green and you’ll fall behind without him

      0

      2
      1. Yeah that’s correct, will be 9 trades used hence my hesitation.

Am now thinking Milera to a bubble rookie def might be a better move for now, gets my bank to over 300k and possibly means upgrading a couple of cows to keepers in a R6

  44. Probably playing too close to the edge. However it is the year, thus far, of the value picks.500k for mid/def (soon to be) 100ish avg. Pendlebury?

    4

    2
    1. Pendles looked really good versus Geelong (I swear “time goes much slower” when he has the ball), but he did attend a heap of CBA’s in that game.

So hope that doesn’t put his “DEF addition claims” in jeopardy!!

            1. Think O’Driscoll is going to be a ripping midfield player long term for the Dockers.

But I agree that his JS is not good at present (with Mundy & Serong & maybe Fyfe returning soon), and the Dockers are also playing him predominantly forward (so his scoring might remain quite low due to that role).

But he is going to be a player IMO.

  45. Why is everyone jumping on Preuss this week ?? Could only be if your r2 is not going well. Preuss not on bubble till r5 and he doesn’t actually have a good injury history. If Hayes gets squeezed out by Ryder, its cash itb enough for Preuss next week, and some left over. Or even Witts to Preuss for a huge cash boost and keep Hayes for dpp use.
Def waiting a week to decide.

    20

    0
    1. I have Marshall at R2 and i’m
not convinced he will recover with ryder and hayes now in the mix. I’m not very good at SC but the money helps me get Green and Xerri – is that a bad move?

      3

      0
      1. Ideally it would be better to wait a week on Preuss – as he does have a poor injury history over the past few years.

However as Marshall’s BE is 175 (after already losing $30K this week), and with Ryder & Hayes currently sharing the ruck role with him (he probably isn’t a keeper unless one or both of these guys are injured), his price will be going down a heap this week.

And both Tom Green and Xerri will be going up a heap in $ this week (especially Xerri).

So I like the 3 x trades you have mentioned in a previous post.

FWIW, I wouldn’t be doing a Gawn / Grundy to Preuss trade this week – as both of those guys are pretty durable, and they both look like they will be in the top 3 or 4 averaging rucks.

Whereas I don’t think Marshall will be.

        4

    2. i know you were keen to start Preuss and can’t wait to get him in your team. wait a week, Hayes to Preuss next week. easy R3 choice

  47. what do you think of a Rachele to Brodie trade.

Racheles BE is now 42 and his scoring is very up and down. Might have good JS but will be a slow burn and F7 at best.

Brodie is a F5/ 6 and scoring is better

TU yes do it, worth the trade and Brodie will be a good scorer
TD wasting a trade, Rachele will be a slow burn, has good JS but not score great

  48. Current plan is to use Booster no 2

Crisp > Rioli (DPP and should be an F6 keeper)
McGovern > defensive rookie. Opens up DPP swing
    Ward > Green

This moves Daicos/JHF to M7/8 and leaves me with

Short Ridley Hewett Rioli Bowey Chapman
Touk oliver Neale Cripps green Rowell JHF / Daicos /Stephens (m8 looped)

    Grundy English

Dunkley butters cogs Xerri Brodie F6 2 of Martin/Hayes/McCartin) looped

    1. JSG

Using a boost and 3 trades to sideways one Premo for a couple of speculative breakout picks is not a good use of resources . Rioli is definitely not a keeper, and you already have mid-pricers in Bowey and Chapman that will also need upgrading. Crisp has proven scoring history and scored 120 just the week before.
Chasing points and sideways trading Premo’s is a sure fire way to run out of trades before managing a full Premium side.

      HOLD !

      9

      0
      1. I’m pretty set on sideswapping Crisp.

I think last weeks 120 was the mirage (Due to Adams being out) rather then what you can expect going forward.

Being highly ranked it just seems like sideswapping for security if you don’t trust crisp is smart . If he drops any lower you can’t sideswap.

The Rioli thing is he’s one of those players that I’ve really wanted to bring in and so I’m trying to justify it. (It’s not really justifiable given his bye)

A better sideswap would be Dawson/Lloyd/Stuart/McGovern.

Would just feel a whole lot more confident with one extra consistent midfield scorer so I’m trying to fit in an extra premo where it probably doesn’t fit.

By my count it was 1 sideways and early upgrade. Something that I think is justifiable if you think you are getting 2 underpriced keepers for 3 trades

That would have me at 15 keepers (counting Rioli, green, Rowell + Cogs. Which would leave 14 trades for upgrades and 1 trade for bringing in Pruess.

That’s still 14 trades left over for sideswap/covid. Which is 6 more then last seasons budget for the whole year.

It’s risky and I’m 50/50 on it but don’t think it’s outrageous since getting 1 premo up on the leaders early. If I do this trade I will essentially have a no rookie team by next week (with Pruess at R2 putting up tons only rookies on field would be 2/3 JHF, Daicos and whoever out of Ward/Stephens doesn’t get traded for Preuss.

    7
        1. Not a bunny obviously but averaged 79 last year and money wise bringing him in now is a wasted trade unless you see him as a keeper. Even then he’d have to improve his average by at least 30 points to be a keeper. Not worth the trade in my view.

          1

          3
    1. If you’ve got that type of cash what about a rookie to Sheil?

Keep berry’s 80 on field and turn a rookie into a sure fire 100

  52. Only trades this week for me will be to stop a donut. Projected score 2350 which is only an imaginary score anyway. Got all the rookies that are worthwhile in at Rd 1 so lucky there.

    2

    0
    1. Both Risky picks

Rioli – has a reasonable sample averaging 90+ off half back . Priced at 75 still. Priced as a keeper /final luxury upgrade. Fairly consistent and should see lots of ball on a bad team.

Biggest downside is he’s locked in as a keeper most likely since you probably won’t find the trades to upgrade him. Bringing him in early and having him take up one of those slots is high risk and could kneecap your season. Or it could be good enough to have a 90+ F6

Jackson: Just pay up for English or take Xerri and bank the cash. A lot to like high variance player probably underpriced more useful for overall then league players. Sideswap during the bye as a bailout.

    I’m thinking:

  55. Need some help from Pies fans with one of PODs in Darcy Moore

Hasn’t been disastrous but hasn’t been quite to expectations. I chose him because his 8 games as a defender last year were at an average of 108. He also played forward in a failed experiment for 5 games where he averaged 60. I haven’t watched enough of the Collingwood games but from what I have seen he looks a little disengaged for mine. Interested in the thoughts of those that have seen more of the Pies this year.

Also – haven’t traded yet this year and around the 5k mark in the rankings..

    TU: Trade him now
TD: Give him a few more weeks

    13

    2
    1. Playing more lockdown with Roughead out and hasn’t been free to run and intercept as much as he normally does. We’re also not as bad this year so the ball isn’t getting into our D50 as often as it was last year. With Howe looking fully fit again he’s also playing more of the intercept role which means Moore can focus on shutting down his opponent a little more. Good for our team defence and backline strength, not great for Moore’s SC output.

    Trade in: D. Shiel

Feel like Shiel is worth getting on and have the cash. Due for a big pay day next after round 4 and is averaging 100. Will make some money, if not be good enough to keep long term. Orrrrrr, do I give Rachele another few rounds?

The question is do I trade for English this round or do I wait a week and hope that Preuss proves that I can start him. If he doesn’t, just trade Darcy to English, which may cost a bit more but could be worth it if Preuss can keep it up and I can upgrade Rachele or Ward to a cheaper premium

T/U – Darcy to English this week
T/D – Darcy to English next week which will cost more, but also the option of Preuss which will allow me to get rachele/Ward to someone at the 600k mark

He was deducted 11pts for a 50m penalty when the game was on the line.
Had 4 clangers but attended the 1st bounce and had 4 CBA after.
Has shown in his short career he is more than capable of scoring big.
Has good JS, he’s a HOLD for me
I also have Martin, for those who dont I think I would Trade.

  65. Is Rachelle to W. Rioli worth a trade? Both most likely benched.

BE 42 Predicted season price change $122k, Proj 3rd ave 71

    Rioli
BE -40 Predicted season price change $241k Proj 3rd ave 87

    1. I’m just waiting to see the WC team before doing the same. Rioli has been getting midfield time with the recent outs. Even as a forward, he is a goal kicker – at least the equivalent or better than Rachelle (at this stage). Only risk (for any WC player) is Covid protocols .

    Zieball for Guthrie

    Thumbs up for Guthrie
    Thumbs down for zieball

There are a few players in the free agency I could bring into replace Guthrie as a mid such as
    – Angus brayshaw
    – lochie hunter
    – Dylan Shiel
    – prestia
    – viney

I do like Guthrie and feel like he will come good as he killed it last season but a good defender is much more harder to come across rhen a good midfield but I don’t know who I can rely on to pick up if I get zieball

  68. I’ve had a tough week and so my trades-which-will-probably-be-reversed are:

    Maginness, Berry and Rachele OUT
    English, Gollant and Martin IN

Leaves me with $100 in the bank, but the long term plan is to get Preuss at R2 next week and have English in the forwards, with Timmy swinging into the ruck when required. The main problems I have are (1) burning trades like they’re going out of fashion, and (2) English is close to max price IMO, although the Dogs do have a verrrry soft run over the next month or so.

  71. 23 Rounds rounds to trade less no trades prior to opening round =22 rounds to trade

35 Trades / 22 rounds = 1.59 trades per round to use on average.

Why are some not considering trading, the changes you make now set up your whole season…..

    3

    0
    1. Because it’s just as easy to mess up your whole season with reactionary moves as it is to gain ground

      8

      0
    2. Also you are looking at your trade math wrong

      22 rounds * 2 + 3 extra bye trades is 47 total trades .

Assuming you want to take full advantage of the boosters then those extra trades don’t really count and it’s 30 trades for 47 possible trades.

The trick isn’t when to use the trades. There’s always something you can do but rather deciding when not to trade.

Week 2 and Week 12 are weeks you can typically get away without trading thanks to good planning, and that gives you now 30 trades/42 possible trades or 6 rounds of no trades

Rounds 4-6 are also a good chance to not trade as that’s when your rookies are still making money so the value to jump off isn’t there. Especially with DPP starting RD 7

If you manage to nail your team and hold off until RD7 aside from rd 3 corrective trades. That should put the math at 11 non trades out of 17 which leaves you with 2 rounds of non trades in the back half.

Early trades have a higher inherent risk due to a smaller sample size on the seasons data. But if you get in front on your upgrade cycle and don’t have injuries it will put you ahead of the pack

      4

      0
      1. I am a mathS teacher and your analogy is spot on and a great guide but supercoach has a knack of throwing a spanner in there with covid injuries and a couple of coaches who love to change things up ler alone saving trades for unexpected late outs

  72. Having a real conundrum with spare cash after McGovern to Nic Martin. Kinda need the points with my first two rounds of scoring, came good in round 3 but feel I’m a bit behind some of my league players.

    Rachele -> Neale t/u
    Rachele -> petracca t/d
    Maginness -> Green t/u comment

    5

    3
    1. Maginness -> green t/u
      None -> t/d

I like green as I get an extra 30k in cash I think left over the other two and keep rachele but not sure I trust gws and greens recent burst. Like Neale because he’s probably cheapest he’ll be but worried about his ankle and teams looking to continue tagging him. Petracca is most expensive but feels least likely to continuously be tagged because it unleashed clarry and didn’t slow him down much last week so teams might hesitate to continue tagging compared to more effective tags like Neale, miller and macrae etc. But he’s less likely to become more expensive like Neale and green in the near future and his knee is a worry.

      9

      0
      1. Just for context, green was my first choice, wanted to keep rachele, more cash for potentially similar scoring, but was scared about consistency and my midfield will have few spots left after. Already have, macrae, steele, Cripps, wines and Rowell, with Caldwell and daicos in m7 and m8 and will have jhf, ward and maginness or rachele on the bench.

        0

Not having him could cause you huge issues

          0
          1. Yeah that was my thought too, makes it low risk if it’s a bad pick it’s a bad pick for everyone. I was initially leaning green because it looked better in terms of cash gen keeping rachele and the extra it, but had Neale locked in most of the week. Also better for my byes. Votes really not going that way though so my conundrum gets worse.

Do I use a trade and go Dale to Dawson or save it

    TU Trade Dale to Dawson
    TD save a trade

    6

    13
    1. The best trade rule is to trade towards security.

If Dawson makes your team more secure due to a better role and higher floor then I don’t think you’ll regret it

      3

      1
    2. I wouldn’t be 100% certain that Dawson even outscores Dale for the rest of the season?

If he does not convinced it would be by an amount that would justify what is essentially a “sideways” trade you are proposing….

      3

      1
      1. If you are top 500 and have a chance at the prize you really want your premiums to be top 6 in their line.

if it’s not to Dawson fine, could go Mcgovern for a POD or whoever but locking in a top 6 Defender in that premium defender spot seems smart. Defenders on good teams aren’t usually a good idea and the bulldogs are a good team with too many ball users to share the points between

        3

        1
          1. How’s your bye structure?

Doc is looking great this season but he’s a rd 12 premium. So no bye bailout option if you already have 3+ Hewett, Short, Ridley, Whitfield

Hall has a huge Breakeven this week so you could hold and wait another week or 2 if he’s the guy you want.

Lloyd should drop two after this week so maybe wait one more week. Unless you like Dawson more then both of those options

    1. Nic Newman was decent last year but been a bit inconsistent to start the year while adams hasn’t played too many games but he’s looking decent down back this year averaging 95 or so

      1. Sheil isn’t a mid Keeper so its just 2 side swaps points chasing and one real downgrade.

He won’t outscore Daicos/JHF by that much most weeks.

Either sideswap Dixon to Martin due to lack of job security or one of your 250K midfielders and bank the money for an upgrade sooner rather then later

      2. Would have looked at this side at the start of the season and said too many mid pricers/injury risks, but guys like Heeney, Cripps, English, Brayshaw, etc, have killed it and your team looking better than my high premos team!
        Good vision and well done!

  78. Hey guys,

This is my current team atm –

DEF: Hall, Rich, Crisp, Ridley, McCartin, Gibcus (De Koning, Uwland)
MID: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Berry, JHF, Daicos, MacDonald (Ward, Sinn, C. Stephens)
    RUC: Grundy, English (Dixon)
FWD: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Xerri, Hayes (Rachele, Voss)

$20,800 in the bank, 32 trades to use

Are there any changes I should be looking to make this week? Considering going Rachele to Nic Martin or trying to somehow get Bowey in but unsure how smart that is atm.

    Any advice is appreciated!

    1. Fantastic side, Dyl. Really nailed the on field premos and midpricers.

Only problem is, yeah, your bench.

Straight up go Voss -> N. Martin then over the coming weeks look for rookies on the bubble for Sinn, C. Stephens and Uwland.

Assuming one is your loop but need active cash gen. 4 dead rookies is too many this early into the season.

Still a superb side, just get your cash cows right – starting with N. Martin this week.

      Best of luck.

    2. Yeah I’d consider rachele for nic Martin. It’s just a lot of extra cash right now, 120k in the bank and surely at least 40-50k extra on the bench next week. I wouldn’t turn it down if you’re only on three trades used.

Edit: looking above, yeah Voss is even better, my bad.

  79. Team is going well and sitting at 436 overall. Not sure if I should hold tight as my team generally looks good or make a few trades to try get a few more points and move up the rankings. A potential move would be to try get Gibcus/SDK off the field.. all my other onfield rookies and premos are tracking well. I have 33 trades.

TU – Rachele + Gibcus to Bowey and a mid rookie
TD – Save the trades and take Gibcus score

    1. It’s a tough one, HD.

Bowey feels a little points-chasey but stepping up into that HB role and gaining confidence. Gibcus a low floor as a key back, so not ideal to have him on field.

You’ve been killing it early (featured in Monday’s SCT Leagues & Coaches Update 3 weeks in a row), so go with your gut.

      Best of luck!

  80. What’s people’s thoughts on some of the rookies and players as we head towards DPP?
Daicos would expect to be mid/def, HorneF- mid/for, MacDonald mid/for, Butters mid/for, Xerri Rick/for, Pendlebury mid/def… just to name a few.
Will definitely make a little easier with swapping lines and help loop options, and may mean ones like Daicos/Pendlebury almost become keeper options down back to really late.

    1. It should help me a lot. Martin and McGuinness should both be Mid/FWD so rotating people through will be good

      Xerri to Ruck seems set.

Daicos and JHF seems touch and go but Daicos getting D/M would help a lot especially with the byes
