  1. TU: Sexton to Dempsey THIS week to improve score (using a boost)
TD: Seth Campbell to Sam Darcy NEXT week

A bit concerned about Darcy’s job security with Lobb kicking 5 in the magoos this week…

    1. WAS just OK yesterday though Lobb scored 5 goals in the reserves. Who knows what Bevo will do.

  2. OUT: Jordon (not much more to make, scores may be impacted by returns)
    Fyfe CG done, increasingly risky.
Coffield (gets Pink on the bench alongside Reid, to be dealt with later)

IN: Heeney (returns won’t stop the H-train)
S Darcy (can be bench, looped with Sexton)
    Bramble (points rather than CG)

      1. Can still field 21 in Rd5 with Jordon gone but, alternatively…

        TU:
        Jordon to Darcy
        Fyfe to Heeny
        Coffield to Bramble

        TD:
Wilson to Darcy (Reid MF bench)
        Fyfe to Heeney
Coffield to Draper (looped with Pink)

  4. Thoughts on a trade today….

TU Sexton to Dempsey (Sexton BE -, non -playing this week though a bit of money to make IF he plays defence. Pointless if sent forward again Vs Dempsey: BE -71, plays today and I may need his score to try and win a league game)

TD- Don’t do -waste of a trade

  5. Fisher is definitely gone.
The other will be either Lyons or H Reid depending on whether Lyons is playing and is not the sub.
Coming in will be either Zorko or McKay. Probably Zorko as he has the half back distributor role with Coleman and McKenna out.
Even though Ollie Wines has been scoring 90’s he is on notice.

    3

    1. I forgot to mention that the other inclusion will be Darcy.
The spectre of Lobb coming in will always be there.
The more concerning issue is the Bevo factor

    2. Hey Shaggi , I think the point of Wines was premium level scoring at an unders price and have him at m5/6 to start with. While 90’s is passable he’s not getting the cg needed from that spot. It’s for this reason that I moved him for Powell for this round, similar scoring much more cg. He was my m6. If you can find a suitable trade for him I would do it. Good luck!

        1. To follow it up, williams looks like he hasnt played for 2 years, jordan looks like someone who a team delisted and fyfe was good 10 years ago…..draper, powell and flanders might be no good but they have more chance than the other 3….

  8. Out:
    Billings, Jordon

    In:
    Gawn (swing Jackson forward), Darcy

Gawn has a bye soon but the price rises will probably put him out of reach after the bye.
Darcy could be booted by Bevo for Lobb after his 5 goal haul.

    Worth it still?

  9. DEF – Stewart, Daicos, Sheezel, D’Ambrossio, Williams, Howes (Uwland, Pink)
MID – Bont, Merrett, Green, Miller, Holmes, Roberts, McKercher, Sanders (Sharp, Carroll, Clark)
    RUC – Gawn, Grundy (Livingstone)
FWD – Jackson, Flanders, Jordon, Fyfe, Reid, Sexton (Campbell, Wilson)
    ITB – $65.5k

I’m thinking Jordon > Powell while he’s still in range. Choosing Jordon over Fyfe as the trade for a couple reasons. One, Adams and Parker are coming back in the next week or two, which will certainly affect his scoring. Secondly their bye coming up as well. Fyfe’s average and BE has been slightly affect by the 3QT subbing out that happened the previous round, so realistically would’ve been better had he played that entire game. I’ll be trying to hold onto him until the first bunch of bye are all done at least. That should be the only trade I’m doing this round.

TU: Yeah, will be a handy trade and while he’s still gettable
TD: Nah, keep Jordon until he peaks

  10. Is trading Dawson out the right call? I suspect that he will become a target in a few weeks once he has bottomed out. To get the target I want in Green or Merrett, I’d need to use a second boost for the year – not sure if that’s a good call either – not sure how many people have used so far.

My initial thoughts on a trade are:
    OUT: Jordon and Billings
    IN: Powell and Dempsey

TU: Trade Dawson to Green/Merrett and go down to 3 boosts
TD: Hold onto Dawson and keep 4 boosts for later on this season

    19

    21
    1. I just don’t see Dawson going from one of the best ball users in the comp to one of the worst for the whole year. He’s still racking it up so will come good. You trade him now and you’re locking in that cash loss

      9

      1
      1. If Adelaide’s midfield continue to not be able to work it out, he will lose more cash and score less – I think that’s also something that comes into it. I haven’t seen enough of Adelaide’s games but from the short bits I have seen, I’m not sure that there’s a lot to change that will make his scoring better.

        3

        0
      2. If Dawson scores his current 3 game ave (82) for the next 3 games he’ll be about 495k = drop another 100k
it’s still viable to sideways him to any premo that’s firing and pickup 20-60 points per round and get him back later when you cashout a Roberts/Sanders/McKercher type.

I’m turning him into King and using the surplus to turn Grundy into Gawn. Picks up 55 pts p/week on current aves and pockets 100k

  13. After re-evaluation I’m gonna move LDU this week and use my boost this week instead. There’s no real rookies on the horizon next week for my original plan, and God forbid LDU burns me 2 years in a row…

This week: LDU, Billings & Fyfe to Green, Flanders & Darcy

Next week a cashed up rookie and Jordon to a sub-600k premo and rookie!

    1. Swap him for heeney
If Dawson scores his current 3 game ave (82) for the next 3 games he’ll be about 495k = drop another 100k and still be overpriced.
it’s still viable to sideways him to any premo that’s firing and pickup 20-60 points per round and get Dawson back later when you cashout a Roberts/Sanders/McKercher type.

      2

      1. I don’t see Dawson sticking around the 80 avg, he’ll go off soon enough. Its more about getting heeney before he hits 650k +

Surely after his form this year he’ll still play 60-70% mid for the rest of the year.

Very good midfield for round 4, rucks standard. Fwds good too but plenty advice above re Jordan job security in next few sounds.
Could sit tight, but if you still have 37+ trades, could look at Hore trade as he’s out for a few weeks after surgery. Swap to Brown with good js and cash Gen

  27. I normally don’t like sideways trading. Especially trading a player away that’s in form..
But my team is ranked 680th and my midfield feels really solid, but I don’t have touk. I have the funds to sideways crouch to touk.
I have a feeling crouch will be the scape goat of the crows poor form and will either get less usage, less TOG, or maybe even dropped from the side as crazy as that sounds.. I also haven’t used a boost yet and have 36 trades left.
Is crouch to touk a good or bad idea?

  29. Harvey Thomas or Sam Draper is my dilemma this week.

Thomas 175k M/F, scoring 50 + 50, goes up $84k. Coach likes him so job security looks good. DPP allows me to swing Lazzaro, Wilson or Reid from mids to forward if needed.

Darcy 124k F, a pair of 42’s sees him rise $76k. Rory Lobb waiting in the wings and coached by Bevo, so job security?? Possible ruck DPP after R6 if he stays in the side.

Already have Dempsey, Cadman, and Sexton as forward rookies.

    T/U Thomas

    T/D Darcy

  31. Dawson is poor right now, will he improve enough to hold?? I have Father Dougal’s sage advice ringing in my ears : “never side-ways trade a Premium, you picked him for a reason, remember that”…dunno if that’s word-for-word but something like that. Dawson is poor though….
    So, do I :

    T/U: Dawson to Serong
T/D: Xerri to Gawn or Tingles

    1. Our Father, who art in super coach heaven(and is greatly missed) also based all his theory on times of less trades. Maybe one or two sideways trades is now a blessed idea…

  32. Out – fisher, Bonner.
    In -Green, S Darcy.

Basically is it worth holding Bonner for cash. Or going early to get green now worth it.
Will have a midfield of serong, butters, green, steel and crouch. So a weak midfield without the trade.
TU – keep Bonner for cash.
TD – get green now for a solid midfield.

    2

    11
  33. Anyone else a bit concerned about leaving the forward line exposed? All of the cash for trades (Fyfe, Jordan, Fisher, Cadman/Khamis/Darcy/Dempsey etc) are coming from there, and all of the trade in targets bar Flanders / Heeney are on other lines. Thinking if not careful we could be stressing over F5 / F6 with not many good candidates.

Shai Bolton has consistently taken 50% CBAs and really turned it on last week with a few good games coming up. I know he is up and down but across the season should do enough to be in the mix for the forward line (especially with not much DPP showing up so far.

Thinking of getting rid of Jordan, Fyfe and Fisher to bring in Flanders and Bolton, leaving me with what looks like five of the top forwards (Heen, Fland, Jacks, Powell, Bolton) and just have to field an F6. Otherwise will do a simple Fisher or Fyfe + Sam Berry to Darcy and Flanders.

TU – Get Bolton and Flanders and sure up the forward line with players at the bottom of their price
TD – Just get Flanders, forward line isn’t a concern

Would love to hear what anyone thinks!

Have started 0-3 in my league, narrowing losing all. What changes (if any) do I make to this team? Have 88k in the bank

DEF: Stewart, Daicos, Sheezel, D’Ambrosio, Williams, Howes (Pink, Z.Reid)

    1. Jeez! 0-3 from a pretty solid line-up is tough indeed. Hmmm…
Can you find a way to get Jackson into FWD and have another solid Ruck?
Otherwise I can’t really see where you might boost just yet without further CG from Rookies to upgrade

      2

      1. Thanks mate! I reckon I’ll try trade one or two of the mid pricers (Jordan at this stage) and perhaps one other to get an upgrade at Ruck. Who is the best option there in your view?

WTF are people doing trading him out with a BE of 47??? Surely Fish has more to give. 1 bad game and a 70 and a ton

  45. Interesting the number of trades being used, I have a reasonable team, top 5%, I consider I have 13 premiums, therefore 9 more to get to full premium without backup, as there are no Michael Barlow’s running around it will take 3 trades per premium, so 27 trades required without allowing for injuries and bye coverage. If your trades are already in the low 30’s and have used 2 or 3 boosts, you are dead in the water.

    7

    17
    1. My historical average is around 2.5 trades and last year I finished with 1 trade which fortunately let me get a POD to win my cash league.

Rookie average at 60 points = 3 trades
Rookie average at 70 points = 2 trades

Currently my rookies are averaging 71.1 so I could see it taking around 18 trades.

Whilst we’ve been lucky in the past with Daicos, Sheezel, Brodie, Briggs etc. which cost 1 trade this year I think it’s a different ball game.

Not a lot of options in the forward line, so we could see less trades to get to a premo (typically $650k), and there will be a bit of value in the fallen premo $550k range in the midfield.

All of this is predicated on good solid rookies making money, so if people are trading zeros to hero’s then go for it…. Noting that based on your average of 3 trades per premium you’re going to have to find 18 NEW rookies over the season.

    1. Would look at upgrading Wines Fyfe & Duursma when its time to cull your rookies i.e. your rookies average is close to their BE

  48. Jordon to Darcy ahead of his bye, Fyfe to Tom Green. Holding Bonner. Only issue is my forward line looks a lot worse.

Heeney, Flanders Powell, Reid, Campbell, Cadman (Wilson, Darcy)

    Still do the trades?
    Yes
    No

  49. Hi guys…
    Only 361 points behind leaders.
    Thinking Coffield to Darcy
    Jordan to Dempsey
    Wines to Clark fix backline….
Leaving cash to go Grundy to Marshall….

    1. If you have a non performing fwd rookie Darcy is a good option bepending on Beveridge’s love for Lobbe

  50. Thoughts on this trade

    Billing > Gawn via DPP
    Sexton > Darcy
    Howes > Draper

    TU – do it
    TD – nah

  51. Out Howes, Jordan and Windsor
    In Whitfield, Darcy and Thomas
Negs-It’s my second boost use for the year
    Pos- Get a Premo in(Whitfield)
    Good trades?
TU Yes- that’s the way to get to a Premo side
TD No- Whitfield is an injury worry

  52. Looking at Howes to Brown and Berry to Darcy, but then:
    TU – wines to Miller
    TD – Jordon to Powell

    Cheers

    1. The time to trade Dawson was last week imo. Think you ride it out until he comes good. Be shocked if he didnt drastically improve his efficiency

    1. Same conundrum. I’ve come to the conclusion if you can bring him in without sacrificing structure or upgrade plans, do it.

How does shifting LDU to Green effect your trades this week and next week?

      1. These are my options
        TU ldu Coffield Billings out
        In Green Brown Dempsey
        TD Berry Billings Coffield
        In Brown Dempsey Powell

    1. I’d go Brown if I could afford him, however I need the extra $30k for my other trade so I’m going Draper.

  53. 37 trades remaining, 65K
Where would be biggest priorities here?

DEF: Ryan, Stewart, Daicos, sheezel, d’ambrosio, Howes (Reid and coffield)
MID: bont, green, butters, touk, crouch, roberts, mckercher, sanders (lyons, Windsor, sharp)
    RUCK: English, Grundy (Naismith)
FWD: Jordan, Fyfe, Reid, cadman, berry, sexton (wilson, mannagh)

    1. 3 of your 4 lines are solid. FWD’s too thin IMO. I’d be looking to improve there, Heeney, Flanders, Powell etc. Possibly Jackson, though I’d be watching returning Ruck Darcy impact on Jacko’s scoring first.

  54. Is it worth trading Errol to Matt Rowell? Errol underperfoming and his bye is up soon. Also, is it worth trading someone like Darcy Wilson to Sam Darcy?

    3

    1
    1. I’d wait a week on Errol, his BE is only in the 120’s and he has the Eagles this week who I expect he goes 130+ on.

You can also have another look at Rowell, Miller, Steele etc if you still want to move Gulden on.

  55. who to upgrade to Flanders:

    TU: Fisher
    TD: Jordon

Leaning towards Fish as I can trade Jordon on his bye next week

  56. Hasn’t been a good start to the year for my team (2 weeks of H.Young before trading him, Dawson, no Heeney etc.)

Not having Heeney has killed me, is it worth getting him now with bye next week or have I missed the boat? Upgrading Fisher and have approx $600k to spend.

    TU: Heeney
    TD: Miller/Whitfield/Steele

  57. 34 trades used (including ones made this week) and 4 boosts left.

Worth using a boost to get Draper or Brown in for coffield to help cash gen (D6 Howes, D7 Reid, D8 Coffield).

Or better to hold trade and boost given best 18 coming up and dpp changes

  58. Any love for Max King as a sideways from Jordan?
-29 breakeven and could possibly make a quick 100K.

    1. Best 18 next two rounds, I’m personally on the guns and rookies train now, no more mid pricers for mine…

    1. Coffield/Z.Reid/Hore in that order would be better than Howes. If your D6 is playing then I’d personally hold.

    1. Their breakevens are quite similar, I think Green is a near must-have from what we’ve seen thus far, Touk has a better immediate fixture.

I’m opting to just grab Green before his price hits that 670k+ range that it seems to be heading toward. Last year I was never able to get English in due to his price, and don’t want a repeat of that…

  59. Is Tom Powell a must if you didn’t get him last week? Team high CBA’s, looks like a top 6 fwd

    Tu or Td

    3

    5
    1. Not a must but I’m getting him this week because he will be a better scorer than the Rookies for the next 3 or 4 weeks and I can’t get to a fwd premo just yet in that price bracket. If you are going for points overall then do it but if you are going for leagues I’d hold fire. Should get DPP as well.

  60. Another week, another conundrum –

TU: OUT – Coffield, Jordan & Howes
    IN – T Stewart, Draper & Dempsey

TD : OUT – Coffield, Jordan & Fyfe
IN – T Stewart, Sam Darcy & Dempsey

  61. 4 players on my chopping block

    Jordon
    Billings
    Fyfe
    Reid

Thinking the 2 i will trade this week are Jordon and Billings as they have the highest break evens and byes coming up. Is this the correct call?

    T/u – Yes, do these 2

T/d – No, should be a different combination

  62. What are people’s thoughts on Harry McKay?
Solid numbers of 130, 112 and 137 the first 3 games. Is he too risky to bring in?

    3
  63. I want to get Darcy for cash gen but I’m scared of Bevo.
TU: Wilson -> Darcy, immediate cash gen is golden
TD: Don’t do it, Bevo will get me.

  64. TU: Howes, Fisher, Jordon > Darcy, Draper, Heeney +$100k

TD: Howes, Windsor, Jordon > Darcy, Draper, Steele

  65. Building the bank balance (and assuming Sam Darcy is named)

TU: Trade out Fyfe for Darcy (Fyfe BE 45)
TD: Trade out Jordan for Darcy (Jordan bye next week, BE 44)

  66. Trading out J.Jordan and Wines. Who is more important to bring in?

TU: Touk into Mids (already a decent mid)
    TD: Flanders into FWD (prett

  67. Who to trade out?

    Tu: fisher
    Td:Jordan

If I opt to trade fisher it is likely Jordan get traded at his bye next week.

  68. At this point in time it is looking like:

    OUT: Jordan, Fisher & Billings

    IN: Flanders, dempsey and Darcy.
$280k for next week, Hopefully steele or English.

Jordan’s on the bye next week so happy to move him on. Fisher is being out scored by dempsey so why not bank $160k and have demps make me another $100k, Billings I don’t need to explain.
