  1. Patty Cripps take a bow. You have successfully managed to trick everyone into trading you in just to get injured. Bonus points for making me captain you

    1. If we do not learn the lessons of history, we are destined to make the same mistakes. At least those who took the punt on rewriting history made some cash.

  2. What to do with Rowell? I don’t have Cripps, so don’t need to worry about him.

    TU: Trade
    TD: Hold

      1. Looks to me that he’s the defensive mid, hunting bodies instead of the ball.
I assume it’s part of his learning process to become the next Steele. They’ve got Miller who is a gun, so makes sense to introduce this part to his game (so long as he stays a sun).

  3. Hopefully just Hinge for Preuss via O’Driscoll, via Rachele, via Hayes.
Not sure if there’s any other rookies on the bubble this week but if there turns out to be, may look at offloading Stephens too.

    1. Looks it to me. Plenty of CBA’s (to the naked eye, haven’t checked stats but have a look when the CBA thread pops up in the next couple days).

      1. St Kilda CBA’s

Seb Ross 26, Jack Steele 26, Jade Gresham 22, Brad Crouch 22, Paddy Ryder 20, Rowan Marshall 14, Marcus Windhager 6.

        1. Sinclair CBAs:

          Round 1: 10 (100)
          Round 2: 15 (114)
          Round 3: 18 (116)
          Round 4: 0 (135)

Yeah, so no CBAs yesterday but played that rebounding defender role to perfection starting off half back and then was the first one up to stoppages.

  5. Luke Ryan – just blowing hot and cold, or is the role not there now with Chapman and Young developing?

Doesn’t appear to be top 6, behind Doc, Hewett, Hall, Short, Lloyd, Sicily, Stewart and maybe Sinclair, Crisp.

  6. If I started with Cripps then a sideways trade would sit comfortably with me. But I sold the farm to get Cripps into my side…. 3 precious trades 🙁

Look out Heeney owners, Treloar owners and Zac Williams owners………..the SC Gods use their burn men at the cruelest time.

  8. Sinn for O’Driscoll ?
TU No too sideways not worth a trade
TD do it, better JS and will fatten quickly

  9. Is Preuss a must have for cash? I’ve got Grundy and Witts so don’t really want to cut either of them but obviously have a bunch of players I’d happily get rid of in other lines. It does mean I’d have 2 rucks for each bye round too so:

TU: bring him in at R3
TD: Stick fat and fix the other problems

    12

    1. He’s just copped a week so no need to make any moves yet but assuming he returns the following week as solo ruck (even with Flynn tbh), yeah looks like a must have cow.

Lot of confidence, huge presence, got a strong midfield around him and really traditional, honed in H2A work.

        1. Ooo. Congrats on the win, Johnno.

Saints looked real gutsy over the last fortnight.

Yeah, have Preuss R2 so been watching him closely. Looks like their strongest ruck in a while, so if he’s playing absolutely grab him.

          1. Thanks, been very good to be watching this but we’ll see how long it lasts. Slightly regretting starting Xerri over Gresham now but 2 weeks ago was feeling great about that so we’ll hold and see.

Preuss definitely looks good, just kills me that he won’t score for me cause I’m not sure when I’ll start him over either Witts or Grundy but yeah, the cash gen will be crucial. Hopefully easier to work things out next week

  10. Is cripps even a must trade? For people who watched the game he didn’t completely wreck his string or anything and was still able to run. I think blues just didn’t wanna risk it? Maybe..?

    11

    8
    1. I’m extremely tempted to hold. He really didn’t seem too hindered the way he ran down the race to the rooms, right? Might just be “awareness” rather than any actual strain or tear. Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking on my part….

      15

      2
    2. where he had that ice was high up and that can often be difficult to overcome / treat and “get right” … would think he definitely misses the next two weeks at least …. and even then they would need to be conservative I would think as coming back too early makes it odds on for a much lengthier stint out … its a coin toss for me.

    3. I’m holding…perfect Sunday backup if Cripps late out…..Devon Smith !!! 98 pts in second half v Crows.

  11. DEF: Short, Crisp, Ridley, Bowey, Hinge, McCartin (Gibcus, De Koning)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, Neale, Miller, Rowell, JHF, Daicos, Ward (Stephens, Macdonald, Parker)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Hayes)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Martin (Rachele, Durdin)

    $39,100/33 trades remaining

My backline maybe in tatters this coming round. Hinge looks to be out, Ridley and McCartin copped head knocks, but I don’t know how serious they are. Bowey has pretty much peaked at BE (Even though he is capable of reaching it).

Rowell starting to near peak as well, but might be ideal for me to leave him for at least another week. Hawk rookies starting to near their peaks, plus Stephens may or may not come back in this round.

Xerri has almost reached his peak, and Ken Hinkley has decided to go back on his word on leaving Butters in the midfield.

Not sure what trade decisions I should be making here. Any advice?

    1. Got subbed off but was able to run, just chucked ice on his hamstring. I don’t think it’s actually that bad but I guess we will see throughout the week

      3

      1
    1. Butters role has definitely been changed and I dont think he is happy with it at all.

Two extremely poor, non involved scores and there is something really going wrong at Port … his frustrations came out when he gave away a dumb penalty on the goal line when Port finally had a shot on goal …

I’m not liking what I am seeing with him or Port … for me I’m not sure I see him coming back to be honest … not unless something is shaken up completely at Port

      6

      7
      1. Butters is basically playing Robbie Gray’s role I believe.

If Robbie is back this week (been out due to covid protocols) im holding Butters, scores should improve.

    1. Hinge injury was a corked hip.

      Club trainer said:

“We’ll assess him in coming days in regards to his availability for our next game.”

      6

      0
      1. Good find Norfolk, I can’t imagine a corked hip being too much of an issue and actually should play this week. If he gets up this weekend Im keeping him and finding another rookie for o’driscoll.

        2

        0
      2. Per CT:

Adelaide: Mitch Hinge – “We’ll more than likely lose Hinge. We’ll have to see how he pulls up. That was a hip pointer.” Matthew Nicks

        10

        0
    2. Could always hold Hinge if he is named, but keep a trade handy in case he is a late out. Could still move to O’Driscoll then.

      1

  12. Tempted by Ridley -> Sinclair, but it’s probably a rage trade and too sideways. But I’m really not liking Ridley’s role this year. I did have Sinclair last year who didn’t really deliver, but looking the goods this year.

    4

    9
    1. Yeah. I’m not a fan of his role either, Maaz. Too volatile.

Kick ins and HB distribution were always going to be compromised by Hind, Heppell and Redman, so us Ridley owners were relying on his intercept work.

Hasn’t materialized though, even with Kelly there. Throughout the day he was literally either on Tex or Rachele – tallest and smallest/most dangerous, terrible.

Couldn’t find any continuity, build into the game or get the drop on his opponent.

      Sinclair indeed looking great…

      2

      0
      1. He also got a head knock in the last 3 minutes and looked concussed so doubt he will be available for the next fortnight

        1

        1
      2. correct GD – he looks totally out of his “good” (for SC at least!) role and also looks completely devoid of confidence. There were several times in the match where he could have gone for that intercept and instead he pulled out of making the effort, with other bombers in the vicinity – one of which cost a goal. Commentators even noted at the time that normally he would go up for it and crash the pack regardless of teammates there … not liking what I am seeing from him and his role at all.

        3

        0
        1. Have him too, either a long hold and hope he grows or cull quick for next best thing. Dont think there is much value coming in next 3 weeks.

  13. Hi, Could there be a weekly question column?

Not for piss taking – for questions about game / player that do not belong in ‘trade’, ‘rookie review’ or ‘how did your round go’…and invariably get lost?
Anybody could answer – so current admin people do not have to write more?
Given we all (generally) cannot see every game…or read every article….

    Questions like:
Has Liam Ryans role changed – hence 3 scores in 70
Rookie Ward (Hawks) scoring is sub 50 – role change from pre season or tagging or something else?
What is Taranto position on field given his scoring?

    Just a thought

  14. Forward planning:
    TW: don’t know
NW: Miller (600) and Preuss (200)
    WA: Petracca (575) & Oliver (600)

That’s a lot of $ to find but should be able to get there if I swap out Ryan and Butters.

    To avoid a trade boost:
    TW: Ryan to O’Driscoll (+$360)
NW: Xerri to Preuss (via English), Berry* to Miller (-$100)
WA: Rowell* to Petracca, Daicos* to Oliver (-$350)

    * Cow culling TBD as have multiple swing players and position adjustments at R6

I need one more downgrade to achieve this as I am guessing I will be $90k short.

TU: Use a trade boost to cull a cow
TD: use Butters (in place of Xerri or cow) to generate the cash

Comment if this is a bit crazy.

      1. Matt Crouch Ave 95 (Last score 71)
Cerra Ave 89 (Last score 81)
I want to trade one to Steele Ave 111 (Last score 125) Should go well v GC

        6

        0
      2. Probably why he is bringing Steele in.

I would trade out Crouch if Cripps is out. Cerra if Cripps is in.

        8

        1
    1. Have both Whitfield and Ridley both underperforming and both carrying knocks from the last game. Should I trade one to hall or docherty? TU trade one TD Hold both

      7

      10
    2. Neither of them…..
Both McMartin & Hinge still have money to make and rock solid job security (when fit)

      12

      1
  15. I am currently thinking something along these lines – Ward and Hinge, and maybe Cripps, depending how bad the hammy is. Because of my cash saved up from last week, these 2 give me 650k. I plan on moving Rachele to the midfield and having nic Martin as my f6. This means I can pick up a cheap rookie down forward and can get any back I want, or any mid I want if Cripps goes as well.

T/U – good trade do it
T/U – nah save the trades

Other thing is does anyone think Rowell should go if Cripps is sub 2 weeks?

    6

    0
    1. And who goes out of the two – Butters or Rowell ( if Cripps is gone for a while then ward will have to stay)

      1

      0
    1. I think two games ago his score was related to a knock he scored fine before that, they tried him up forward this week but I think there was a fair bit of commentary that they needed him in mid and with wines potentially out or not fully fit he has a good chance of getting his role in the mid back. I’d probably hold.

      16

      0
  16. Ward and Hinge to Malcolm Rosas and Jack Sinclair

Rosas can swap around and loophole with nic Martin depending on when then play

If Cripps is injured for more than 2 weeks, he will go to Tom Green

    T/U – Do it
T/U – get another week of cash gen from ward and hope hinge’s injury isn’t too bad

    5

    12
    1. Keep both for sure. Xerri only scored poorly this week because goldy had a blinder and they couldn’t get him away from the footy. Butter scored poorly last 2 rounds because of injury and tagging role, but with wines gone he should get tons of minutes in the mids

      2

      0
  17. Looking to sideways Luke Ryan this week. To get Docherty would require two trades so might put that on hold. So my two main targets are Sinclair (quite the POD) or Sicily (quite the shield). I had Sicily in the preseason but swapped for Ryan last minute. I’m leaning Sinclair at this stage but Sicily is $50k cheaper.

    TU: Sinclair
    RD: Sicily

    10

    14
  18. Erasmus pulled off a 70 to go with his 58, how is he js wise? Looked good pre-season, had him in the team right up until round 1.

Tempted to go sideways C.Macdonald > Erasmus, as Macdonald is not generating any cash, 23 yesterday and highest score has been 55..

    Yay or Nay?

    12

    2
    1. I’m on board with you Alex looking at getting him in. FT or any other freo fans got any insight into his role and job security?

      3

      1
      1. I think he plays. It will be interesting to see what happens when Serong returns. I think Walker makes way. I would be getting him if I didn’t;t have so many other problems !

        6

        0
  19. What to do with Rowell…
    T/U – Hold
T/D – trade for Hewett (leave me 27k) or Brodie (leave me 162k + projected to go up 47k)

    9

    11
    1. Following up, I’ve only used one trade sitting at 7,845 overall rank. I want to give myself two options – the one above which will be for total points or the trade I’m considering which would bring in more cash but give me barely any more total points.

Hinge and C MacDonald > O’Driscoll and Erasmus

TU Go for #1 overall and bring Sinclair in
TD Keep making money and finish strong

      6

      20
  20. Thanking the SC gods for Preuss being out for a week, gives me some extra time to sort out what to do I thought it was going to be a straight forward Witts to Preuss but Witts’ score complicates that. Still might do it for the cash.

    This week I think I’m gonna go;

    Cripps to Green
    Stephens to O’driscal
Ridley to Brodie via DPP gained above

Then next week when Daicos becomes DEF eligible switch him to defence to stabilise defence due to Ridley being moved on.

    2

    10
  21. Tu: sinclair
    Td: docherty

I’m sure everyone will say docherty, but as a saints fan I really want an excuse to pick sinclair.

    17

    18
  22. If cripps is out for a while and has to be traded, should I trade him to.

    TU: Green
TD: Heeney (still feel like heeney is gonna lure everyone in and then get injured like cripps)
    next comment: brodie

    12

    3
    1. What will happen to Green scores when Greene comes back into GWS not that Toby will last more than three games before he gets suspended again

      3

      1
      1. Toby Greene doesn’t play as an inside mid…
So doubt his return will impact Green scoring at all…

Hopper is the one more likely to have an impact on Green scoring – both very similar players – play almost identical role…

        0

        0
  23. So going C.Macdonald to O’driscoll then thinking Ridley to Sinclair before he loses too much cash.
    TU -yea
    TD- too sideways.
Also is Xerri a hold? Thanks blokes

    9

    5
    1. Just on Xerri, he had more of a 50/50 ruck split with Goldy the other day. 15 CBAs for Xerri, 14 to Goldy and the Roos much more competitive.

Had previously been more of an 80:20 split Xerri’s way.

      8

      0
      1. Goldy was on fire, that had to keep him around the ball.
Next week when north are terrible again, I’d think Xerri will be getting more experience force fed into him.

        5

        1
        1. Didn’t I read somewhere that Xerri also copped a broken nose (or a decent blow to the nose).

Therefore his TOG decreased down to just 73% this week.

He started well again, and was on approximately 30 points by quarter time from memory.

IMO Xerri definitely needs to be given at least one more week – as he has a good SC role, and he has such a high ceiling.

          17

          0
  24. Something you may want to consider before diving into your trades this week as the byes will jump out from behind a tree and mug you.
My focus this week is replacing Ryan so I looked at the top defs
    Docherty – Rd12
    Hewett – Rd12
    Short – Rd12
    Sinclair – Rd12
    McGovern – Rd13
    Hall – Rd14
    Dawson – Rd13
    Houston – Rd12
    Cumming – Rd12
    Broad – Rd12

Could be a tough needle to thread with a ratio of 7:2:1

  25. Hey lads, bit stuck to do with my team! Not even sure I need to trade this week with scoring over 2300 again but some advice would be appreciated lads

Def : docherty, short, Hewitt, hinge, de koning
Midfield : mcrae, steele, touk, neale, Rowell, berry,JHF, daicos
    Rucks : Grundy, English
Forward : Dunkley, heeney, butters, cogs, martin, rachele

I think all these rookies have a bit of value still in them – is it time for butters to go ?
    Any suggestions appreciated
    – 270k in the bank too

    2

    0
    1. Great side, Hugh.

For me, Butters is a hold.

      Round 1: 114
      Round 2: 136
Round 3: 58, after a knock, cooked for the rest of the night
Round 4: 57, Drew dislodged him from CBAs to tag Petracca and Port destroyed

Round 3 and 4 scores pretty unlucky/anomalous. Think he’s still on a breakout trajectory in an OB role, so should be serviceable for Top 6 or thereabouts scoring. Probably doesn’t help that Port look quite poor now, but again he’ll be able to ton up just from being OB.

As for the rest of your team, you could pretty easily do an upgrade this week with 270k ITB. If you’re no longer a fan of Rowell or Hinge is out LT, then that moves makes it self. Can’t see your bench, but assuming you don’t have an egregious amount of DNPs.

Excellent side and perfectly reasonable to not make any moves this week. Think that’s where I headed as well.

      Good luck.

      4

      0
      1. Thanks mate, much appreciated! Yeah I do like butters, seems to be always amongst it
        – I do have a couple of DNP such as skinner/sinn and soligo but that’s due to a couple injuries so I may look to upgrade them first as I do have a easy week this coming week

  26. Hinge > O’Driscoll
    Cripps > Steele

If Hinge isn’t too bad I’ll swap him for Ward. Steele’s looking consistent again so happy to bring him in.

  27. FT….

Who has better job security out of O’Drsicoll and Erasmus, obvious thoughts now would be O’Driscoll based on his performance but Erasmus was a very high pick. Cheers mate

    2

    1. Hard to know Marcus.

NOD has an extra year in the system and is a bit more versatile. Erasmus is a higher talent but as he’s younger may get rested first. Tucker and Serong due back this week, so if they both still make the team I like their JS going forward.

      4

  28. There are unconfirmed reports that “Patrick Cripps’ scans revealed that he has escaped any serious damage to his hamstring and is most likely to play this week vs Port Adelaide he’ll be monitored this week.”

    To be updated.

  29. TU: Ryan > Docherty, Hinge > O’Driscoll

TD: Ryan > Sinclair, Hinge > O’Driscoll, McCartin > Brodie

    3

    4
  30. I do worry about Odriscoll as with Serong – Tucker- and others available he may be just one stinker away from being dropped, a-la- Stephens.
Just some food for thought, just need some convincing from somewhere before i pull the trigger.
TU- Would he survive if he had a stinker this week
TD-Up and comer high trade pick that should be ok.
    Cheers

    1. Same can be said about plenty of rookies, but O’Driscoll looks genuinely good, and not just from a sc standpoint, looks like he belongs out there.

      3

  31. DEF: Stewart, Short, Hewett, Whitfield, Hinge, McCartin (Gibcus, De Koning)
MID: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Miller, Rowell, JHF, Daicos, Rachele (Stephens, Mead, MacDonald)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Dixon)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Martin (Hayes, Long)

    $9.4k remaining, 35 trades left.

Got some great advice two weeks ago, was looking to trade out Whitfield to Docherty and Steele To Cripps, held and its worked out really well assuming Cripps is out for 2 -3. Currently 971 overall.

If Hinge is out this week I’m considering bringing in O’Driscoll and banking an additional 99k.

    TU; Do it
    TD; Hold the trade

    Thanks !

    14

    1
    1. Would also consider Rowell to Rioli via Brodie or Hewett/NOD DPP

Rowell Doesn’t seem to have a big point scoring role and DPP seems handy. Making rioli a FWD also opens up a handy DPP swing

      2

      1
  32. Hello people,
    Team is
DEF: Short, Crisp, Hewett, Sicily, Chapman, Hinge (Gibcus, De Koning)
MID: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, JHF, Daicos, Ward, (Stephens, Sinn, Uwland)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Dixon)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters, Coniglio, Brodie, Xerri, Martin, (Rachele, McCartin)
    31k ITB
    34 trades left
Analysis from a dummy: My top 5 backs are performing, and I think they can be left untouched. Gibcus, De Koning seem to be cruising along, and will get there eventually. I have hinge, who the majority seem to be trading to the NOD, though I’m not sure if trading Ward is a better option. I also have Sinn, who I would like to get rid of. I’m not sure about what’s happening with Cripps but hopefully he will play this week and I won’t have to sweat on him, but if his injury is longer than 3 weeks I will mostly likely trade him.
I can’t dignify trading my rucks now, but Dixon to Preuss might be something i consider, depending on what happens with his suspension which I haven’t followed either.
Finally, Butters. To Heeney or someone else?
In summary, this week I aim to get rid of Sinn and get in O’Driscoll, and also wouldn’t mind getting rid of Ward/Hinge for another rookie. I also wouldn’t mind using the trade boost for a correctional premium sideways trade as I have only used one trade so far.
Anyway, as I know very well, getting someone in this community to tell me what to do ALWAYS trumps whatever I can come up with, so please, if you have time, comment any ideas, anything is appreciated. Thanks for reading

    1. Hey mate,

First thing I’d do if I were you is swing McCartin for SDK and see what score he gets on Friday night, meaning that if he does play well you can use Hinge as loop and hope he returns next week.

I think Sinn to NOD is a good trade! I think Sinn may have had another slight injury setback. In terms of Butters to Heeney I’ve been contemplating it too. However, Ken the goose has played Butters out of position the last 2 weeks plus he has copped a few heavy knocks. I believe Robbie Gray is returning this week and with Wines out of the side it doesen’t take a genius to realise that Butters should be playing midfield.

ps – epic team man, still 34 trades left is huge. Just do Sinn to DOC or Erasmus depending on selection with a few good mids returning. Good luck 🙂

  33. Sideways Ridley to Sicily

Watched Ridley closely on w/e, the role is not there no one looks to use him and he seems disinterested.

    T/U – Do it!

    T/D – Save Trade

    1. Hey Damo ,
I also watched Ridley on the weekend and didnt like what i seen either and i was looking to do something as you are but, on reflection the previous two weeks produced 115- Melb and 112 Bris, and i rekon we wait a week or two as he is quality and may have been off colour ? If he is injured after that head knock well might have to think about it a little harder.

      2

      1
      1. Yeah good call bro, i think he had a 55 pt second half or so. So i’ll let it be for now probably bigger issues to worry about.

  34. Cripps wines butters into McRae Boak and O’Driscoll? Need a league victory this week what do we think?

Great chance to upgrade to a premium mid off Rowell if you don’t

  35. I’m Considering:

    Ridley>Hewett
    Hinge>O’Driscoll
    Rowell>Green

Would be my first trade boost and leave me with 31 trades. Feedback appreciated!

    T/U or T/D?

    1

    11
    1. The boost feels unnessecary Hewett and NOD are DPP so you could just do

Rowell + Hinge for NOD and Hewett and save your boost

  36. alright, this is looking like the trades I will be making this week.

Ridley will likely go next week, along with Rowell if he doesn’t perform. Xerri and Butters can stay

Out – Hinge and Ward ( Cripps )
In – NOD and Sicily ( Green )

THis trade is done through the use of De Koning and Rachele DPP, as well as my leftover cash from last round. This leaves me with one of O’ Driscoll and McCartin being my B6 and with one of De Koning or Martin being my F6, with Rachele being my M8. If Cripps happens to be out for more than 2 weeks, I will trade him to Green, but if not I can just cover with either NOD or Mcdonald for 2 weeks

  37. Need some help guys, 30 trades left & 126k in bank, do I make any trades with this team?

DEF: Crisp, Hall, Hewett, Sicily, Hinge, McCartin (Gibcus, De Koning)

MID: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, Brodie, Horne-Francis, Daicos (Ward, Stephens, MacDonald)

    RUCK: Grundy, L. Jackson (Dixon)

FWD: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Coniglio, Xerri, N. Martin (Rachele, Hayes)

    1

    0
    1. I don’t think you need to do anything, but if you wanted to you could look at Butters to Doc/Sinclair via McCartin or SDK swing. I’d probably only look at doing that if McCartin and Hinge both miss this week though.

  38. I feel as though I’ve been kissed with the lips of luck this year with my current team. Only one trade made so far and $236k itb. Do I need to make any trades this week? My plan was to bring in Preuss but that can wait a week. Ridley and Butters could be luxury side trades but do I really need to? Currently ranked 2.8k OA too.

DEF: Short, Crisp, Ridley, Hewett, McCartin, SDK (Gibcus, O’Driscoll)
MID: Macrae, Satan, Neale, Rowell, Brodie, Berry, JHF, Daicos (Ward, Stephens, MacDonald)
    RUC: Grundy, English (Dixon)
FOR: Dunkley, Heeney, Butters, Cogs, Martin, Xerri (Rachele, Hayes)

    Thanks for any advice!

    1. I’d be looking at 1 correction and 1 upgrade

1 correction: ward/Stephens to Erasmus. Better rookie who’s on bubble + adds 40k to your bank which is always nice. Can trade the other for Pruess next week.

      2. First upgrade.

Assuming you do the first trade. Upgrading off Xerri gives you 580k and off Rowell 670k.

Would look at getting in another Premium Defender since that’s your weakest line in terms of Rookies.

      2

      0
      1. Thanks for the advice mate. What’s the JS on Erasmus like though? That’s my only worry with bringing him in

        1. Not sure on Job Security. That’s probably a question for Freo Tragic.

Worst case he’s a non playing M11 behind Rachelle (Stephens for Pruess trade next week) and MacDonald and you can use him as a loop and then make 100k when you trade him out to a playing 102k rookie later in the season.

He’s the trendy name but if there’s someone else you like there as a correction do that.

Think you need to find about 10k to go Xerri to Doc if that’s your preference

    2. What a start Kieran! Great job..

Thoughts on Ridley? I’ve got him as well and think I’m gonna move him onto a Sinclair/Hall. If I had enough like you, I’d be bringing Docherty in.

      1

      0
      1. My thinking with Ridley is this: he has the R12 bye, which is good. And if he averages 95-100 still from here – which is very possible/ he’ll still be worthy of D6/D7. So do I want to trade him out now to gain a few more points, with the possibility of bringing him back in? If I trade him out I think I have to do it on the premise that he won’t be coming back in unless he suddenly starts delivering consistent 115+ scores… but it’s 2 trades I may be able to/want to avoid by keeping him. It’s a quandary.

P.S. I don’t mind the Sinclair pick at all!

  39. Have any of the positional changes been confirmed as yet?

If Cripps is out for more than 2 weeks, thinking a straight swap to Pendlebury could be on the cards to bolster DEF and give some DPP flexibility.

    1

    2
    1. If you’re looking for a Def/mid for flexibility, Hewett is still cheaper than Pendles and Crisp only $20k more. I’d just be worried cause he hasn’t played a full 22 in a couple of years and reckon there’s better options at the price. Could be a good POD if you really like him though and will get the dpp next week

  40. $60,400 ITB / 32 Trades Left / Rank 12870

    DEF: J. Short, J. Crisp, G. Hewett, H. Chapman, P. McCartin, J. Gibcus (S. De Koning, J. Boyd)

    MID: J. Macrae, C. Oliver, J. Steele, L. Neale, P. Cripps, M. Rowell, J. Berry, N. Daicos (JHF, J. Ward, C. MacDonald)

    FWD: J. Dunkley, Z. Butters, S. Coniglio, W. Brodie, J. Rachele, N. Martin (T. Xerri, J. McEntree)

Any trades I should be considering? Would be nice to get Preuss in for Xerri by rotating Dixon and Xerri, don’t know when Xerri gets DPP though.

    Cheers.

  41. Should I sidegrade Maginess to Erasmus?
Have 32 trades, maginess done making money and probably out of the side.

    9

    5
    1. In this scenario I would probably trade Rowell before Xerri.

I still believe that Xerri has plenty more $’s to make and after round 5 will provide valuable ruck cover if you have Hayes or Dixon at R3 (just not this week unfortunately if you have Preuss at R2).

      8

      0
        1. Probably wouldn’t do it then. Xerri will be useful as Ruck cover when he gets DPP in a week and he has another 100k to make.

          Keep him and your trades.

          6

          0
            1. Hard to give suggestions without knowing your team, but if that’s your issue you probably can trade a mid, move a MF from forwards to mids, move SDK/McCartin forward to open up the swing.

This would move Xerri onfield and get you Odriscoll onfield in 1 trade.

M/F to mid. D/F to F. NOD to Def.

  42. I’m torn wether i should Trade this week or not. I do feel i need to bring in O’Driscoll for Bowey, I also want to bring in Gawn and JMcInerny.

DEF Short, Ridley, Hewett, Daniel, Bowey, McCartin (Gibcus, De Koning)
MID Macare, Steele, Petracca, Brayshaw, Neale, JHF, Daicos, Rachele (Macdonald, Hough, Uwland)
    RUCK English, Hayes (Dixon)
FWD Dunkley, Butters, Jackson, Cogs, Brodie, Xerri (Martin, Durdin)

    Looking at doing these trades
    Option 1 (TU)
    OUT: Butters, Bowey & Xerri
    IN: Gawn, JMcInerny & O’Driscoll
    Option 2 (TD)
    OUT Bowey & Xerri
    IN: Docherty & O’Driscoll
Both option will minimize a Rookie on field. What do I do? Which options should I take?

    1

    3
    1. Ok I’m confused. With your TU option you’re trading a defender and 2 forwards…..how are you bringing in Gawn as Ruck?
And your TD option has you getting rid of a defender and a forward for a defender and a defender/mid in O’Driscoll. I’m sorry if I’m not seeing something but to me that can’t be done.

Xerri for O’Driscoll via McCartin or Dekoning

        1. Don’t really like either of your options.

You have a funky ruck setup but adding Pruess next week seems the better way to progress that.

Bringing in Doc when you have 3 other defenders on the Rd12 bye could be trouble

If you think Mcinnerny is a keeper doing option 2 with him and banking 150k is probably your best option

          1

          0
          1. @Just Some Guy
I was thinking of bringing Pruess in this week, since he’s suspended will have to wait. I feel Gawn will have another monster score against GWS its why i want to bring him in, he’s price will shoot up in couple weeks. Hayes(if he plays) and Dixon will be making some decent cash either of one them will be a straight swap to Pruess next week.

I feel McIneny will be keeper, with Buddy out he’ll spend a bit more time from back half and pushing through middle. I think McCartin & Heeney will spend a bit more time up forward

And yeah maybe i could do McInerny and O’Driscoll this week. We’ll see in the coming days of what I will decide.

  43. Is it too late to be getting Brodie in? Looks like he has a good role and a decent amount of cash gen of the back of his 135

    3

    14
      1. Not sure why this is getting downvoted. Brodie is still only $350k and very capable of averaging 90-95 for the entire season if his role doesn’t change (it shouldn’t), which is handy enough for a F6. Even from a cash perspective, with an average of 100 and a BE of-16, you can realistically think he’ll still go up in price another 80-100k at least, one more big score and he’s on his way to 450k range. Even if you don’t think his scoring holds up, his $$ will go up enough to be worth your while.

If you’re downgrading a premo to him, think again. But if you’re upgrading an onfield low-scoring, low-ceiling rookie for him, by all means, it’s a good option.

  44. Oh man,
Traded Berry out last week and had Green all week, until I read the pole I had about bringing in Cripps or Green, so decided to go with popular vote of Cripps- DAM!

On a positive- happy that Ryder was given 2, even though I don’t agree with it- so Hayes should get another go- and make some good coin. Will be interesting to see result of Saints challenge to his ban!

My thoughts, should I just let Brodie go and concede I missed the boat? However, having to field either Ward or Racehele at M8 is killing me in points. Xerri & Rowell are some other options I have considered trading out but I don’t mind holding for now with their scoring potential and a little more cash to be made.

Any help would be appreciated! TIA

    1. Brodie probably isn’t definite but if you think he’s a keeper for you, I’d try to just pick one of Dixon or NOD rather than burn a boost now for someone who isn’t quite a must have.

  48. If I don’t have the cash to upgrade Whitfield to a keeper, is it worth trading him for Hewett? I know its a sideways trade, but I feel like Hewett is a must in the backline, and Whitfield has been disappointing – playing sore? I don’t want to do 2 trades for Hewett though, so cashing in a rookie for him isn’t an option as cash is a problem.

TU : Whitfield to Hewett is a good idea
TD: Don’t follow the masses, miss out on Hewett – that horse has bolted.

  49. With news that Cripps is ‘likely’ to miss only the one week I will be holding.
I had been considering Cripps to Docherty but will now pass.
In light of NicNat being out for an extended period I have done the following trade
    Out Stephens In Dixon.
Rachelle goes to M8 this week to cover Cripps.

    1. Can’t see your mid bench but personally I’m doing Ward to Dixon this week cause a number one ruck for 167 is a steal and you can just sub any of your fwd/mid players into the midfield for that spot and that gets you a loop between the lines too.

Also feel like McGovern has to go but you have held him for a bit so guess it depends how you feel on that one. Could do him to NOD and sub either SDK or McCartin to your fwd line and open up the loops everywhere

      1. I’m doing either Ward or Stephens to Dixon. With Hinge, I’ve got him at D6 with the E on McCartin. If McCartin scores well, I’ll keep Hinge to loophole and if not, then I’ll trade him for NOD and roll the dice there

TU – D Stephens AV 59 BE 1 but didn’t play last week & assume won’t be back in this week but has scored one score in the 90’s and only needs one more game to add another $18k (approx) OR

    1. The way he’s playing, Cripps just needs 110ish for the next two games and he’ll lose about $30-40k total. Don’t think you need to worry about that cash drop at all so I’d ignore the scary break even. If you keep him, you’re keeping him so his price isn’t as much of a problem. Touk and Steele are never bad to have though so just need to see if the difference between them and your backup M8 is worth a trade for just this week.

Hinge to NOD however could be a nice way to cash in and get some extra points available so could just do the 1 trade too.

      1

    2. If I were you, I’d only trade out Cripps if you no longer view him as a keeper / late luxury upgrade.

      6

      0
    3. No reason to even care about Cripps’ BE man, you’ve got him in your side you obviously believe he is a keeper like the rest of us do. He only misses one week he is an obvious hold. If you started him and don’t think he is Top 8 mids then trade him for someone who is of value BE wise and you believe is Top 8. But IMO if you have him in your team he is an obvious hold. GL man 🙂

  57. Xerri looks to have maxed out, and with Goldy looking to be back in the ruck, its bye bye and welcome O’Driscoll via Long dpp. Then it becomes tricky. I have Hinge but for one week at least, happy to use him to loop Gibcus/DeKonnng.

    After that, I can either……..

thing your wrong about Xerri, coped a head injury early 3rd 1/4 . Not named as injured in latest report. Would be highly surprised if he is not named 1st ruck this wk. If so is cash generation and DPP change will be a huge plus going forward.

  58. Hinge on field. What to do, assuming he’s out this week?
    T/U: Trade to O’Driscoll
T/D: Hold and use bench support

    15

    4
  59. Considering these 2 options:

    TU: Hinge > O’Driscoll, Bowey > Docherty
    TD: Stephens > O’Driscoll, Bowey > Hall

TU allows me to get Docherty but I have to trade out Hinge to generate enough cash to make it happen. Not sure if Docherty’s current form is sustainable and if his body will hold up for an entire season.

TD allows me to hold Hinge and trade out Stephens who could be out of the Swans side for an extended period. I pickup Hall who should see even more footy down back given that Ziebell is likely to play forward now.

  60. I believe we may all be still stuck in the mindset that we have 30 trades rather than 35. After this round I will still have 31 trades. From here I could use 2 trades per week, every week and it will see me through to round 21. Yes, there will be a few 3 trade weeks, and yes the last couple rounds we would all want some coverage but jeepers this game has become a game of sheep with people doing everything the same way.

Have a crack, take a few risks and use your trades if you personally feel it might benefit you. Too many ideas get shut down by the crowd here and all it does is shape everyone’s teams into the same thing!

    1. The big thing is that if you want to use the boosts you have to play like you have 30 trades.

For instance I have 32 trades right now. -4 boosts that’s 28 trades for 39 potential trades.

Assuming you don’t trade round 12 that’s 28 trades for 36 potential trades.

So you still have to find 4x no trade weeks somewhere. With most people having good rookies it makes sense to wait as they haven’t peaked in cash gen yet and there aren’t good fallen premiums yet.

  61. Hey legends, looking for a few opinions on what my next move should be.

Struggling a bit this year after a really good year in 2021.

    Here is the side:

DEF: Crisp, Ryan, Sicily, Hinge, McCartin, Gibcus (DeKoning & W. Kelly)

MID: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Parish, Wines, JHF, Daicos, Mead (Ward, Stephens & McDonald)

    RCK: Grundy, Preuss (Dixon)

FWD: Dunkley, English, Heeney, Butters, Martin, Hayes (Rachele & Durdin)

In Defence I’m happy to hold Hinge if he is only out a week or two, I think he has some cash to make yet. Ryan is certainly a worry but he probably is not my biggest issue. If I were to trade him I’d look at Dawson, Hall or Short. Any thoughts on who might be best of those 3???

In the midfield Ward, Stephens and MacDonald are all on limited time. I’d look at bringing in Wanganeen-Milera or Erasmus. I think Erasmus has a higher ceiling but N W-M might have the better job security, so it is a tough one. Wines also probably has to go. Considering Taranto or Laird as replacements.

    Rucks are fine.

Do I hold Butters? I know a lot of us are pondering this. I’m leaning towards holding. If I were to trade I’d go to Gresham or maybe Dylan Moore as a real POD.

Any thoughts/opinions on my team and my moves this week are welcome.

    Thanks legends.

    1. Lots of questions there but let’s see.

Like you said, Ryan might be worth holding but I’d prefer all of the other 3. Really depends on how many trades you have and bye structure. I’d probably rank the 3 as Dawson, Short then Hall. I really like Sinclair too but I’m a saints fan so more than a little biased. Just devastated I can’t get him in personally.

For those rookies, I love NWM as a player, but really wouldn’t recommend him for SuperCoach. Unsure how long he stays in the side with Billing’s and Hunter Clark to come back over the next 2 or 3 weeks and he’s quite expensive for what he’s scoring. Erasmus just doesn’t have enough security for me. I’d lean towards bringing in NOD but can understand picking either of those two. Maybe wait for team announcements and bring in whichever one is named?

I’m also stuck with Butters but just have to assume Hinkley comes to his senses and plays one of his best midfielders in the midfield, particularly with Wines out so I’d hold firm but love both those options. I’ve got Moore in a draft league and loving life with him but probably wouldn’t want to lose Butters for him

      1. Thanks Johnno.

        Appreciate your thoughts.

I think Ryan and Butters are holds for now.

I’m a Dockers supporter and I’m loving O’Driscoll, but I’m not totally convinced he keeps this output up, but he looks likely to hold his spot, which means extra cash, so could certainly bring him in.

Wines to Laird or Taranto would be my other trade for the week.

        1. Love the idea of trading Wines to both of those two. Taranto will be a top 6 forward or there shouts so good to lock it in while Laird is an awesome POD. Can’t lose either way there.

You don’t have to make two trades. If you don’t believe in NOD keeping it up, then you don’t have to bring him in. I’ll say while he has the 100 in his 3 game average he’ll just make money by stepping on the field. He just needs 50s to get you money so can still work but I’d hold off and wait and see another rookie appear if you don’t believe in him. As soon as SuperCoach opened I did Hinge to NOD but have since reversed it and might not make the trade at all now, particularly if he ends up playing. Might do Stephens out for him if he’s still out but I don’t love making the trade for so little cash so will probably hold firm.

  62. Thinking a bold move as will be looking to get Preuss in next week:

    Grundy -> Brodie
    Ward/Stephens -> Green
    Hinge -> O’Driscoll

Thinking is Dixon will be good cover for the week and then getting Preuss next week. Means I get a very poor scoring rookie off the field in the mids and a rookie off in the FWD line too.

(note, this means I can hold cripps as keeps the midfield solid)

Thumbs UP: do it be bold
Thumbs DOWN: don’t do it, Grundy is worth holding

Is he the real deal & can he keep up this scoring for the year ?

  64. Is Bowey a must trade this week?

AKA should i burn Boost No 2 to Swap him out?

    Current Trades

Cripps > Dawson the nightmare ends

Stephens > Dixon (have Ward onfield and need a nother reliable mid on field

    1. I wouldn’t say must trade but if you can get him up to a premium this week then I would strongly consider it given that Preuss will already be in a lot of plans for next week. I wouldn’t use a boost to trade Bowey this week though so if that’s the case then probably hold and see how he goes this week.

      1. Probably not to trade out Cripps – looks like he will only miss one week so most will be holding him.

        7

          1. Not sure he is a trade out, but if you are convinced that you need to move him on I think Taranto is the most reliable scorer out of the players you mentioned.

  66. Has anyone got any thoughts on Alex Witherden from West Coast, very super coach friendly role and is an efficient ball user, looking to take over hurns role i think.

TU- risky, but good POD and has upside
    TD- stay away

    1. Worth putting McCartin at D7 with the E? If he scores well trade out Ward and loophole with Hinge but if he doesn’t, trade out Hinge and ride NOD at D6?

  67. TU: Bowey, Cripps & D. Stephens -> Doch, Treloar & NOD…$500 ITB or
TD: Bowey, Cripps & McCartin -> Doch, Green & NOD…$6800 ITB

    1. Sam.

Mc Donald in line for forward status next round as well. He is a slow burn, but that DPP should at least come in handy.

      1. Rosas is probably the safest but I hate trading in cash cows before that third game is a definite, see: Preuss.

Note, I will be picking him up, just when he’s definitely playing his third and will go up in price and make the cash

  70. Currently got P Voss as a loophole DEF/FWD who has been handy in swapping around with SDK and McCartin, but I’m wondering if it’s time to move him on for some cash gen. Alternatively will look to trade McDonald, Stephens etc if not.

TU – Back that there’ll be outs in my team every week for loophole and trade Voss
TD – Keep the non-playing rook and trade another player for O’Driscoll/Erasmus

  74. Most traded out, most traded in, surprising i think.
Not sure Crippa so must out and not sure NOD so must in.
    Just musing..

    1. Not convinced of NOD’s job security or scoring ability. Freo are in the top 4 so 1 bad game and he’s gone. People should be holding Cripps imo but easy for me to say as I don’t have him.

      3

      2
  75. I can maybe justify holding L.Ryan for Hall but if Sinclair’s form continues this may be the cheapest we see him for a long time, BE:59. Who would you back in?
    T/U – Hall
    T/D – Sinclair

    5

    7
  76. Only traded in Bowey & Crippa after R2, but this could offer me a restructure

T/U – Crippa & Bowey to Gawn & O’Driscoll – moves English to the forward line, but Hinge becomes my D4.

    T/D – Ward to O’Driscoll

Leaning to T/D purely because I see Crippa as an uber premium based on his start to the year

  77. Crippa headache. I’m still top 1000 so I kinda want a decent score again but also don’t want to lose cripps

    TU cripps to Green
TD hold and take a rookie score. Most likely nick Martin

    1. Congrats on your high ranking. If I was you I’d save the trade as everyone at some point will be in the same position. Martin is a good scoring rookie and it’s early in the season so save the trade. Good luck

  78. At this stage holding butters, Cripps and hinge too because I have good bench cover but my only worry is Ridley

    TU: Ridley > Sinclair
TD: Hold the trade with hopes Ridley comes good

    1. Yep- trading premiums can burn you. Players go through form ups/downs. Reckon at 1/4 time last week heard many saying that’s it for Crisp- he’s out, while others claimed lucky they’d got rid of him.
By the end of the match all were happy they held and ‘crisp’ was a champion.
      Peaks & troughs!

  79. Last week I watched Essendon vs Adelaide and barely sighted Ridley, with a BE of 100+ is it time to pull the trigger to Short or Sinclair
TU: Yep get rid of him
    TD: Hold firm for now

  80. Looking to strengthen a weak defence (Short, Ridley, Hewett, Bowey, Hinge, McCartin – DE Koning and Skinner) . Happy with forwards and mids.
Have a multitude of the same sort of player forward with players like Brodie, Martin, Rachele and Xerri. Think Hinge will play this week. Even though Xerri can make more money looking to trade him out for Sicily and Ward for NOD.

    Thoughts?

  81. DEF: Crisp. Ridley, Hewett, Bowey, McCartin, Gibcus (Sinn, O’Driscoll)
MID: Macrae, Oliver, Steele, Neale, Crippa, JHF, N.Daicos, Ward (D.Stephens, Hollands, C.MacDonald)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Dixon)
FWD: Dunkley, Butters. Cogs, Brodie, Xerri, Rachele (Durdin, N.Martin)
$57,000 in the bank, 32 trades left
Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated!!
