  1. Time for Oliver to go. He’s taking up a midfield spot, he’s not making money, and he’s not premium scoring. No benefit to him.

    • I’d focus on getting your poor scoring rookies off of the field first before sideways trading Oliver. He’s definitely not at the level we expect from him but scores of 98/91/86/98/80 in his last 5 isn’t *awful*. Not ideal but surely there’s bigger fish to fry at the moment.

        • Not when his next game od against West Coast. You need to also take into account the fixture as well. I’d at least hold on to him for one more week and then trade him if he still underperforms.

            • He’s averaging 96.6 and holding his value, he’s not exactly burning a hole in anyone’s pocket. Definitely a trade at some point, just depends on where your teams at and who you have on field, especially with a good fixture next week. Id say he’s way down on the priorities, but it’s not impossible that you don’t have anything better to do.

  2. Playing for overall, currently sitting in the top 1k

Not having Gawn is killing me now, however the only avenue is through TDK. It helps my bye structure and it also doesn’t stall my upgrades. Not to mention, Max runs into the eagles next weekend. As a TDK owner, there is always going to be that Pitonett factor lingering in the background too, he will surely come into the side eventually. Yes I know TDK scored very well this week, however I fully expect Xerri & Gawn to be R1&R2 (Not sure what order).

    TDK > Gawn

    Tu or Td

    Thoughts appreciated, cheers in advance!

    • The way I’d look at it is, do you think the difference in scoring between TDK and Gawn will be larger than upgrading a rookie to a premo? For example, if you think Davidson/Lindsay/insert rookie you have on field will score about 70 and Gawn about 130 over the next few rounds, that’s a total of 200. But if you think TDK will go about 110, and you upgrade that rookie to a premo who goes at about 100, that’s a total of 210 between the two (these numbers are just examples, you plug whatever you expect each player to average in).

So it’s basically up to how big do you think Gawn will go/how much cash you have to invest to upgrade a rookie vs upgrading TDK to Gawn. For me personally, I would focus on upgrading on field rookies to premos before going sideways, but I’m also not in the top 1k (top 6k as of round 6), so take that with a grain of salt.

If Pitto is ever named alongside TDK then that’s an entirely different story…

    • Absolutely not.

Simply not how you play this game.

The outright, even tepid, approvals of TDK -> Gawn are stunning me.

If Pitto was back and TDK was eating ass, fine. He just went 135.

I don’t see how not owning Maxxy could possibly be “killing” you. They’re level on total points.

Great job on ranking. Keep improving your team in terms of keepers and points OF.

      • It’s not Gawn specifically that’s killing you it’s the 3 ruck set up that people are going with that’s the key to success this season as well as starting with brayshaw and having Whitfield and Sinclair (who’s dropped a few poor ones by his standard ) that’s where the top teams are making their points whilst other teams have weaker def premiums like Holmes etc and serong in the mids

  3. Anyone have any thoughts on Kennedy, from bulldogs, he has a great heatmap playing midfield getting 20+ touches and hopefully kicking at least a goal a game
I think he’ll be a cheap forward premium at the moment when I already have Rankine, macrae and Daniel.

  4. Looking for value this week, so going to try to do a double upgrade with roughly 200k sitting in the bank.

Rookie number 1 (probably Davidson) -> Warner
Rookie number 2 (probably Prior) -> Freijah

Warner looks to be back to his best, cheap as, and forward DPP makes him super valuable IMO

Freijah also looks a million times better with Bont back and at about 400k and DEF DPP is a steal if this form keeps up.

May have to make a change of plans as Cerra appeared to have a groin niggle + he might cop some attention from the MRO for a high hit. Cross that bridge when we come to it though.

      • Might just be a cramp, with his history I was just a bit nervous, that’s all.

Speaking of history, considering some of the baffling decisions made by the MRO recently it should be a fine and that’s it, but it wouldn’t shock me if they give him weeks for absolutely no reason. A week off is a hold though, I agree.

This is just my opinion feel free to do what ever you like but yea, with bong back freijha looks amazing, shame I traded him 3 weeks ago.

      • If he was a MID only I wouldn’t be going for Chad just yet, but as a forward his margin for error is much larger, only needs to average 95+ from here on out to finish as a top forward, anything else is a massive bonus. His last two years he’s averaged 100+ and I think he can get there again.

Might also look at Rozee or Kennedy, hard to tell before Supercoach opens and I know exactly how much money I’m working with.

    • I really like this, I don’t feel like I have the trade bank to take too many risks so warner off one game might still be too much of a risk to fill my last forward slot. But freijah at the price looks a solid bet with relatively low risk if I have to sideways him later. Considering him and rozee I think this week.

    • UPDATE: I’m 5k short from doing the above, kill me lmao. Probably just going Davidson to Freijah and leaving it at that, getting Chad in would require sideways trading which at that point isn’t worth it anymore.

  5. Kennedy looks to have had a more consistent scoring record than trac, and petracca has only tonned once against weak opposition, he’s also slightly more expensive.

I like Trac but it just seems like a better more reliable and cheaper option at the moment, with a lower breakeven if I have to sideways for some reason.

    Tu- Kennedy

    Td- Petracca

    • Need to see what they do with Jackson coming back.

McDonald was good but I don’t see them dropping Amiss or Darcy. 2 goals but only 9 touches, so not super critical to their scoring chain.

If he stays in the 22, sure. But definitely need to see sheets.

  6. Worth going early on Hustwaite if it helps with an upgrade?

Trying to avoid a Clay Hall type who has 1-2 prices then dropped. But literally no cheap bubble rookies available this week

  7. Thoughts on Jordan Dawson….

I’m honestly sick of commentators mostly saying how he is such a beautiful kick of the footy and one of the best in the comp.

I’ve watched him pretty closely the last 3 weeks and have noticed his decision making is really poor, he’s to slow to get rid of the ball and he butches it a lot. With disposal efficiency of 38,52 and 42 in the last 3, in which kicking would be a lot worse is he a trade to Rozee which i can facilitate??

Could be ranting a little bit and hate trading premiums, but with his kicking I really can’t see him being a top 10 mid.

    Cheers for reading legends x

  8. TU: this week lalor, Lashcroft + Dale > L.neale, trac + boyd
then next week go kayo + maric > sinclair + rookie

TD: lalor + Ashcroft > trac + boyd
next week maric, Reid + Oliver > sheezel (or another fallen premo) + Sinclair + rookie (hustwhaite?)

worried with sheezel my team becomes very rd12 bye heavy

  9. Murphy Reid has to go, but which rookie should also go with him:

    TU – L Ashcroft

    TD – Davidson

Since they have similar scoring profiles and BEs I’m leaning towards Ashcroft to cash in on his higher price

  10. I know the golden rule is to not trade your premo’s, but far out Stewart is not looking like a top 6-8 DEF. Not quite ready to upgrade my rookies yet who are still rising in price and wanting just some reliable points in my backline. I know people are talking bad about Oliver, but at least he’s not off back to back 60’s.

Tu – trade to someone like Clark or comment a better option (have Whitfield, sheezel and Roberts)

Td – gotta stick with him

      • Yeah I’d normally hold, but he’s dropping like 20-30k probably and doesn’t look great. There’s always a chance he works his way back into the season and you regret wasting the trade later so I’d be very sure there’s no other trade priorities though.

    • I’m in the same boat. He’s clearly not 100% so I’m leaning towards trading him this week as it sounds like he’ll be carrying his injury all season which will diminish his scoring, plus clubs again are putting plenty of attention into him

  11. Current state of affairs
DEF – Whitfield, Sheezel, Clark, Dale, Bice, Reid (Carrol, Leak)
MID – Daicos, Zerret, Serong, Neale, Cerra, Oliver, Lindsay, Moraes (Hall, Gross, Camporeale)
RUCK – Xerri, De Koning (Boyd)
FWD – Horne-Francis, Smith, Macrae, Daniel, Powell-Pepper, Davidson (Cleary, Stone)
    FLEX – Freijah
Definitely going Hall -> Hustwaite, just need a more reliable on field rookie and he seems to be out of the west coast side
    For the second trade, looking at either;
TU: Dale -> Sinclair/NAS (Dale clearly not looking like a keeper atp, however could bounce back)
    TD: Davidson -> Freijah
Comment: Just leave it at one trade for the week

      • Dale has almost lost all his value. Will surely have a spike score coming and will get back to $500k. Thats when you sell around the byes (thats my plan anyway). Worst case if he becomes Mills or even Holmes or Zorko who are dropping in value

  12. I have two major problems:

    1. My midfield stinks worse than last week’s garbage – top score last weekend was Newcombe with an even 100

    2. I can not pick a captain to save my life

So, righting wrongs from last week:

    LAshcroft and AReid out
    Bont and Sims in

Yes, for about the tenth year in a row I’m overpaying for Bont but I think it’s justified. I was at Manuka on Saturday night and he just cruised around and scored 128. It’s quite ridiculous to watch at times and I feel like the overage on price is worth it for the safe C every week. Plus, I have lots of ground to make up and he’s still relatively PODish.

  13. Still trying to work out trade plans..

    This week:
Prior > O.McDonald (if he holds his spot)
    Tsatas > Hustwaite
    C.Hall > Petracca

    Next week:
    Reid > Buslinger
    Levi > Sinclair

Is it worth using a boost this week to bring in Trac?

  14. In two minds now that my previous plan has been foiled. I’m about to confess something truly barbaric, so hopefully you’ll all still treat me with kindness after hearing what I have to say…

**In nearly 10 years of playing supercoach, I’ve never owned Marcus Bontempelli**

I know! I know! Put me in the stocks, throw vegetables at me, I deserve it! But he’s always just been far too expensive and I can never justify spending that much money on a player to start the season, then all of a sudden he’s 700k and I can never get him in.

After seeing him in second gear and then subbed off and STILL nearly score 130 on the weekend, that might have to change, especially with how weak my midfield is currently.

So what do I do? Original plan of looking for value or go all in on Bont?

    T/U: Davidson -> OMac/other Rookie, Ashcroft -> Bont, 50k in the bank

    T/D: Davidson -> Freijah, 80k ITB

    • Such a tough call. Couldn’t blame anyone for targeting bont with how he’s looking, but at the same time freijah seems like the traditionally better play. Id say getting greedy has tended to hurt me in the past so I’d do the disciplined play of not buying anyone at peak price but by doing that bont probably averages 150 for the rest of the season.

      • The disciplined play of not buying anyone at peak price is exactly why I’ve never owned Bont! I’m just in two minds, because it wouldn’t shock me if this was his *lowest* price all year.

That being said I’ll make all these moves to trade him in and he’ll score 70 this week. More research is definitely required…

Missing out on further price rises from culling those rookies early, however Petracca will only rise with them if that makes sense. A sub 500k Trac as a fwd seems great value.
