Looks like Warner’s going to be carrying the drinks and no one is more happy about it than Joe Root ;)

Question
Why would the AFL put the legends match at the same time the ashes starts????

England to win comfortably for mine. Let’s say 4-0.

I think we will start off with some decent spirit (thanks mainly to the decision to replace Mickey Arthur), but the talent should prevail.

Man of the series prediction is Cook. Didn’t have the best of campaigns last time that we were over there (only one half century), but was sublime when they were last here in 2010/11 (scores of 235*, 189 and 148) and I don’t think that our bowling line-up is much improved since then.

From an Australian point of view, very eager to see how Agar performs. Lot of pressure on him and I really hope that he can stand up to it. Also, Chris Rogers. So many first class runs and a great history of scoring runs in England against the Duke ball which is a big key to performing over there. I like the call to back him in.

Personally, would’ve preferred Warner and Khawaja over Cowan and Smith, but hopefully they reward Boof’s faith.

C’mon Aussie!

Dont think there is any pressure on Agar.. He is picked to help contain KP who is woeful Vs left arm spinners.. No one is expecting miracles. Great talent though but does need to be nurtured..

19 years old, barely any first class experience, first game for the country, on enemy soil, kicking off the Ashes. Unless he is one heck of a cool cucumber, I reckon he will be feeling a ton of pressure, Hugh.

It’s one of those moves that if he flourishes then it could kick-start a long and productive Australian career, but it could just as easily ruin his confidence for a long time. Here’s hoping for the former!

Agar is clearly one heck of a cool cucumber!
I love test cricket. The way a whole match can change in half of one session.
Would love to see a hundred on debut from a number 11.
