Another Bye round….. so options limited:
Note: Readers of the RR saw big wraps on Tommy Nicholls and were rewarded by $101k payrise which (with no research) I’d suggest is the largest of 2013.
Rookies on the radar (<$200k) this week:
1) T Mitchell (Mid $115k) TOOT, TOOT, All Aboard the Tommy Mitchell train! There’s a few rookies each year that are a ‘must have’… sometimes you know straight away, sometimes it takes a few weeks to see how good they really are. If his first two games are anything to go by, Mitchell is one of the MUST HAVE rookies of 2013. Even if you’re just getting him for finals bench cover, Mitchell is a future star of our game. He’s now had his Bye, and his first two outings resulted in scores of 87 and 126.
2) B Wilson (Def $115k) Not sure what his parents were thinking when they decided to inflict a life of agony with the name Blayne… which is probably why he had no option other than learn to defend himself and be good at sport. Blayne played his first before the eagles Bye and is a previously injury prone 21yo, 188cm mobile defender. Blayne was very solid in his first run having 21 disposals, 10 marks and 89 points. Great defensive option if you need to fill a defensive spot this week and he gets named.
3) N Hrovat (Mid $114k) Hrovat didn’t make the final Doggies squad last week which was not entirely unexpected. But he will be back at some point, and with limited ‘quality’ rookies available Hrovat is one to keep your eye out for on the selection table this week. He is past the Bye hurdle and has played 2, with and an ave 74.
4) J Daniher (Fwd $154k) Joey did what most of us expected and took another big step forward smashing out a lazy 98 points, following his first up 55. He will be a quality player for many years, BUT, and it’s a BIG BUT, his job security is poor. I’d say very poor. I feel his good game brought him one more run after the Bye, but after that I feel Hirdy will switch his focus back to the real finals team which will include Bellchambers, and I think he’ll want to give Gumby another run to make sure he’s ready as back-up in the next few weeks. Hold Fire this week!
5) K Martin (Mid $192k) Martin’s good from continued, and he also received his first price hike. He has the Bye this week, but Martin has smashed out scores of 97, 80 and 80. He still has plenty of cash to rise after the Bye round for you Pie fans. Hold Fire this week!

You can not believe how good it felt to bring him in for that space waster in Jake Neade.
Blayne Wilson is also a super accurate kick, even if he gets just 10 kicks a game I’d expect 80%+ of them to be effective and could knock out a decent 70 easily each week if he plays. I haven’t looked at the stats but his efficiency in his first game would’ve been right up there (I remember getting angry when my Saints couldn’t intercept his long rebound 50s) haha. Good option, I’ll wait a week on him to see his JS.
I’m not so sure Daniher’s JS is as bleak as you say BS… With Hurley suspect forcing Carlisle to stay down back, big Joe looks a genuine chance. Real match winning potential and straightens them right up. The Dons have a thing for playing babies if they’re good enough…
Good write up BS. Any thoughts on Sumner? How do you rate his JS?
oxley??
Maybe the Dons will be stripped of all premiership points before end of season to avoid giving individual players penalties for the drug scandal.
Then Hirdy will play all his youngsters with no obligations to prepare for finals.
What about mccaffer out for daniher. Js?. And terlich for Ellis. Future = westoff for natanui.
I need a FWD rookie for Macaffer also. As discussed Daniher may not play towards end of season and Sumner is not as good a player. Stkilda, Pies and Burbury (Geelong) also good options but again is there job security?
Don’t worry. The Dons won’t cop any penalties. I mean, just look at Melbournes’ tanking penalties – er, there are none. Maybe they can just make the Crows pay the penalty like they did for Tippet (didn’t even breach salary cap – what about the Juddy-Visey thing, anything ever come of it?) or like the Crows paid for Melbourne’s non-tanking so why not pin the Bombers drug use on the Crows too – it’s only fair
Does anyone like Brian Lake HFC Def and
Fitzpatrick Ruck Mel. Both POD.
LAKE IS CHEAP and can play
Whilst Fitzpatrick is on the bubble and
Can play2 IMO
Sorry. Wrong place for my rant but I couldn’t help myself. Oh and Crouch’s form been terrible so move him on this week if you still holding. Also, anyone considered the Jaeger Bombs’ run home for finals. Worth keeping?
