Hopefully channel 9 wins but I don’t like their chances. Poor effort by the AFL, shows they’ll bend over every time when it comes to money!

Deano February 24, 2011 at 9:54 am

Maybe the AFL has no jurisdiction in this area – that seems to be the excuse now when things get a bit hard.
Lets face it, if we had live FTA footy on Nine, it would be at a reduced revenue meaning that Andrew and Adrian would have to reduce the KPIs they set for each other meaning they would have to reduce their salaries.
Its time the Board sought a new Executive team and gave footy back to the punters.

PA February 24, 2011 at 10:40 am

Agree, even CH10 have a half a hour delayed game, when games are played in Melbourne on Saturday nights, but you don’t hear HS kicking up a stink about that. All it comes down to how much MONEY they can make, they don’t give a f#@k about us.

PA February 24, 2011 at 10:44 am

BTW, my avatar pretty much sums it all up :D.

scatts February 24, 2011 at 2:22 pm

it was always the case , if you lived in the country of W.A you would get the eagles and dorkers games live on WIN or GWN ..but the last couple of years fox has brought the tv rights for the eagles and dockers games we hardly get the games live how days … if you want to see the w.a teams live you have to by fox tel ..a win win for large corporations …but the game always belongs to the people not large corporations ….

Al February 24, 2011 at 10:39 am

Agree Jonson at the end of the day its all about the $$$. Oh well just means ill watch Live streaming through fromsport

Brad February 24, 2011 at 8:04 pm

fromsport?? more info pls.

Shane February 24, 2011 at 12:44 pm

The worst thing the AFL have ever done was let CH7 win the last lot of TV rights bidding.

The CH9, CH10 and Fox trio was fantastic – Since then we’ve gone backward, for starters we have to put up with 60 – 90 second breaks between goals when watching it at home and as a result the game is held up when you actually fork out your hard earned to go and watch it live! We’re subjected to mediocre commentary and state-the-bloody-obvious comments from the “special” comments boys, then to cap it all off we have to wait 1 hour + on a Friday night to see it and on a Sunday they don’t even show the team song!!

Fingers crossed CH9 find some big money and blow them out of the water this time round!

P.S – CH10 aren’t great, but they try hard for a junior partner in the deal. And I love Fox, especially becuase they show 4 games live and only had to give up a bar stool and a full ash tray to get them!

Agreed live footy on friday nights would be great, but on the downside my agarpanthers & home made bookshelves will go to shit.

Bearded Burblers February 24, 2011 at 1:10 pm

With the risk of sounding unpopular, I like the delay. It gives me time to put the kiddies to bed, have dinner, shower ect…

* meaning of shower for the Collingwood supporters:
–noun; Also called shower bath . a bath in which water is sprayed on the body, usually from an overhead perforated nozzle (showerhead).

Duck February 24, 2011 at 2:16 pm

Hahaha on the shower definition! I would rather 7.30 cause that hour when i know footy is on is a pain in the butt with respect to people texting scores, commenting on facebook and other social media sources …. it’s getting harder and harder NOT to see the score accidently.

Richard Crabs. February 24, 2011 at 8:14 pm

Can’t help but agree Duck.
I go on Facebook at half time, and before I can even think of something witty to post, I see the result.

Duck February 24, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Annoys me beyond words that we get the games at 8.30 Adelaide time on 7 although the week before it was LIVE on Fox. Disgraceful.

Ice Man February 24, 2011 at 5:10 pm

Actually will agree with you Bearded. I work late shift on the computer till 9p.m every night & love the delayed start so I can sit down with a coldie. It’s not too much hassle to get the SC scores on delay from Fan Footy. However I also copy & paste em from the HS live feed without looking at em so I can see how they progressed each qtr .
That being said still hope it goes to Ch9,10 & Fox. Also wish 7 & 9 would show sport in HD not SD, even though the Ashes was a flop so was the SD coverage!

*puts hand up*

PA February 24, 2011 at 8:22 pm

Levi Greenwood, one of the club’s toughest ballwinners, is expected to miss 6-7 weeks after injuring an ankle in last weekend’s NAB Cup loss to Geelong, sorry Motts.

Motts February 25, 2011 at 11:27 am

That bites!

(but at least I don’t feel so guilty now about leaving him out of my team)

tappy February 24, 2011 at 9:25 pm

can’t wait to hear bruce on a friday night say “Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepelll kicks its long and haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard into the 50″

Deano February 24, 2011 at 11:04 pm

Looks like we can nearly disregard the SC scores from the first round after tonight’s scores although at least with tonight’s there’s a bit of logical science to draw on as with 52 players sharing the 3300, a loading of approx. 4.5% should be added on given that the usual player group size is 44.
My two cents worth:
Does anyone think Heppell and Hibberd can play in the same team?
Hurley is a waste of time playing up front.
Grimes is susceptable under pressure.

tappy February 25, 2011 at 12:07 am

just pick heppell. hurley as well. so to grimes. you can’t go wrong. they’ll all increase in price

Deano February 25, 2011 at 3:19 am

i’m sure that’s the case Tap but its the degee of increase that’s the point otherwise we’d have teams of 44!

tappy February 25, 2011 at 10:49 am

well heppell is a given…grimes is likely to average 100+ i think the only tough question is hurley. will he have a big break out year and average 80-90. and i’ve taken a punt and put him in my team, so i say yes.

Roo Bloke February 25, 2011 at 9:19 am

Good point re 52 players vs 44 players. Was wondering why there were so few 100+ scores from last night’s game. Makes Grimes score in a comfortably beaten team even more impressive.

PA February 25, 2011 at 9:40 am

It wasn’t even out of 3300, Dees 1284 — Dons 1601 = Total 2885. I don’t know what’s going on anymore.

PA February 25, 2011 at 10:27 am

I don’t think the 3300 rule exists anymore, with the 3 extra bench players there will be a new total of 3030 points per game.
Old format 30 / $10,000,000 = 3333.333
New format 33 / $10,000,000 = 3030.33
So expect lower scores this year.

Bill February 25, 2011 at 11:38 am

If the total has gone from 3300 to 3030 that means premium players prices will drop and rookie prices won’t go up like last years prices due to the lower averages. Players like Goddard abblett and swan will drop quite a bit if there averages drop which they have to

Bill February 25, 2011 at 11:39 am

This will throw a spanner in the works of my perfect team should I save money for early upgrades knowing the prices will drop of premium pluses or do I keep my current winning team

Stuart February 25, 2011 at 7:20 pm

every other professional sport in the world is broadcast live at every possible opportunity and i think it is ridiculous to assume someone wont go to the game so they can watch it LIVE on tv….its easier to sit at home and watch it delayed and then you are home already when it has finished so making iot live wont change this. If the AFL fat cats were serious about expanding the game and globalising the code then maybe they should pull their heads out of their asses and get in line with all other major proffessional organistions.
no wonder no outsiders take our sport seriously when we dont.

Deano February 25, 2011 at 7:45 pm

Here here! Look at the IPL, Premier League, NBA, MLB. How many CEOs of these organisations would sell out to Better Homes and Gardens?

Jacko February 27, 2011 at 3:43 pm

Channel 7 does not OWN the great game IT BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE, all it has is the rights to broadcast it. Better Homes and Gardens is NOT live so why on earth can Seven not show it at another time!!!

Ray Scattini September 2, 2013 at 8:41 pm

I think Cameron Ling is a great special comments man…But where has his mauve shirt gone…Play football he could but make sauce bottles “No”..I have purchased two and neither of them squirt the sauce straight…Maybe it’s because I live in Mandurah and are a Dockers supporter….
