Game Chat – Richmond v Brisbane

Written by Motts on August 25 2019

Where and when: MCG, Sunday August 25, 3.20pm AEST

What it means for Richmond: It’s now or never for the Tigers in their quest for a top-four spot. Win and they get the second chance, lose and they’ll be hoping for Essendon to overcome Collingwood to ensure Richmond’s double chance.

What it means for Brisbane: Incredibly, the Lions are one game clear in first, with the minor premiership on the line. A disaster loss and other results could see Brisbane slide to fourth.

The stat: Richmond has won 12 games straight against Brisbane, dating back to round 13, 2010. The last time these two sides met, the Lions didn’t kick a goal until late in the third quarter.

The match-up: Harris Andrews vs Tom Lynch

Andrews traditionally took Lynch when the pair met in QClashes, and looks set to meet the Tiger forward – who’s third in the Coleman Medal race – once again.

It’s a big week for: Dustin Martin

The Brownlow Medal-winning Dusty of 2017 is back at his scintillating best, coming off a 35-disposal game where his influence was obvious. With the Tigers pushing for a top-four spot, they’ll need Martin to back up again.

Big call: Jack Riewoldt will be the key for the Tigers once again, kicking the winning goal for the second week running.

Mottsy’s Tip: Tigers by 10 points

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  2. How much can Richmond lose by and still finish 4th, out of curiosity? Just 0.01440743 percent separating them from West Coast.

  3. I need Houli to get 105 to take the GF win (32 at qtr time). Opponent projected 2800, yet still might win. Fair to say i am tearing my hair out right now!

    1. Go you good thing.

I’m gardening with the iPad and drinking stubbies like they’re going out of fashion. They never seem to tho’! 😉

PS not much gardening going on now tho’. Maybe a big final burst during this half-time break and then retreat to the shed! Good luck!

    1. Fingers crossed for you CT. I’ve just compromised BOTH CattasChallenge and LooneyMooney’s GFs by taking the punt on Dunks! If Lycett goes huge it’ll be double figures for the year where I haven’t just followed my gut 😉
Will now lose both by probably (projected) less than the 51pts and more importantly miss out on a top 2000 spot.

Ah well. Have enjoyed this year immensely and have learnt so much again from all the awesome contributors and members on here that I’ll be better for it in 2020.

  4. Neale 190 ridiculous!

51 touches, 25 contested, 14 clearances. Only thing that cost him the 200 was 31 handballs

  5. I think I love you Lachie Neale. I needed a 170 from him to win my match up, which I’d pretty much given up on after my opponent had Whitfield last night. But Bont, Sloane & Neale came through for me today, so rapt.

  6. Spoiler alert I have neale in my team , and I do barrack for richmond , but I never felt neale was doing that much damage today . Zorko was dangerous and gained almost double metres and dusty had 22 i think and big impact . Anyway still a great effort for anyone to get 50 touches.
