How’d You Go – R4

Written by Motts on April 26 2015

Small decisions such as who to captain (Fyfe v Sloane) and play on the field (Cripps v Heeney) could’ve made a HUGE difference to your score this week.

Which way did you jump?

  1. 2051 which I’m pretty happy with. Had Vandenburg and Cripps on bench with Ellis-Yeoman and Heeney on field. Had considered Cripps on field for Heeney pre game as figured Heeney might be due for a down one but never imagined how low he would go and how high Cripps would go!!

  2. Scored 2,225

    GOOD
Fyfe, Goldstein, and all top rookies on-field (or loopholed in), including Cripps, Hogan, Vandenberg. Also, not having Heeney on field.

    BAD
    Newnes, Selwood as Captain

Only a handful of sub-par premium performances (i.e.: Newnes, Shaw), with many others sitting in the 80’s & 90’s, so it doesn’t look like I got hurt as bad as some others (despite the terrible Captaincy score) … can’t complain.

  3. To make u all feel better…… I’m Currently ranked 12,000….. After a score of 1720……’who knows once lockout is over!
Anything that could go wrong did…..
    Heeney over Cripps
Changed captain from Fyfe to Sloane
    Tex, Newnes, tbc, Oxley
    New recruit Selwood.

I don’t think I can recover from here to win the Comp. lol

  4. 2053/Sloane

Sloane going for only 60 hurts a lot, my mistake for putting VC on Swanny instead of Fyfe. Particularly happy with Ward, Fyfe, Maric, Vandenberg, Newton, Pendles and Hogan. Everyone else gets a nice little ‘eh’ or the even worse ‘meh’.

  5. Finally made a number of correct calls Cripps over Heeney, Sheed over NVB). Rookie’s outscored premiums (Beams, Parker) and ended up with 2349. Had the C on Fyfe with special mentions to Maric, Goldty, Gibson, Murphy,

  6. 2011 – Lewis as Captain.

Had an absolute shocker but hopefully i can turn the table now.

Guns : Cripps, Gibson and Hogan.
Flops : Newnes, Shaw, Neale and Parker.

On a side note, i would just like to thank the community. They ensured me not to trade Griffen. I was adamant to swap him for Sloane.

So Community you win again and I’m so grateful.

  7. 2146 and a win. Pretty good considering disappointing showings from Sloane (as captain), Heeney, Lumumba, and Shaw.

What’s going on with Luke Parker? Am I right to be worried at this point?

  8. 2210/Fyfe

Can’t believe I cracked the 2200’s with the backline woes I had this week….but it sure I wasn’t alone on that….
Dare say I got the things Motts mentioned right – Fyfe captain and played both Cripps and Vanderberg instead of Heeney…..kept Gray but Lonie was admirable in his place……

However Newnes, Lumumba, Shaw, Lewis, Parker need to lift

  9. 2206 from me. Managed to dodge the Saad 5 point game but Heeney’s 7 point game got me. Fyfe rock solid as captain. Couldn’t work Van Den Bergs century off the bench though However, looks like 7 out of 7 league wins.Looks like Krakour will be making his way into my side at the expense of Lamb but weighing up whether to also go Saad to Tarrant

What a disgrace, will without a doubt drop from 1927th.

Where to start.. Harry O, Newnes, Smith, Sloane, NVB, Shaw, Oxley… Heeney! with Vandenberg on the bench :’)

Looking to trade out Newnes this week for sure.

  11. 2215 / Pendlebury

Week 2 I went up 50,000 places overall, Week 3 dropped 25,000 places. Think the yoyoing will continue!
Champs – CRIPPS!, Goldstein, Fyfe, Gibson, Hogan, Pendles
Chumps – Newnes again, pretty much the whole backline except Gibbo actually, but I think that was common this week.
Lessons – Not trusting the VC to Dusty again if Fyfe is a possible option. Missed out on VDB’s ton also, but overall not bad.

  12. Don’t know how I ended up with 2312. Very lucky as I don’t have Sloane, I probably would’ve captained him as well!
To all those that had below par weeks, its only one week. Chin up, there’s always next round!

Thought I was in for a big week until the Sunday madness hit. My backline is non-existent with McIntosh (42), Hunt (47), Simpson (72), Newnes (60) and Shaw (69). van Berlo’s 45 made things worse and Sloane’s 120 as Captain just put the icing on the cake.

  15. 2147/Fyfe

Getting the C & Cripps/Heeney decisions right were highlights of my weekend, along with Goldy, Hogan, and Hurley & Hibberd saving my backline. The rest was a sea of mediocrity to absolute shite. But happy to get what I did considering how wrong it could’ve gone.

  16. 2214 Fyfe. Moved from 530 to 57 overall.
9/10 league wins. Lost in LoEC2.
Went loop-holeing crazy. Emergency loop-holed Vandenberg for Heeney (thankfully), Lonie for Clark (only just paid off) and Captain Fyfe for Sloane. Prior to this round I had never used the emergency loophole at all.
Best 5 on field – Cripps, Goldstein Fyfe (C), Pendlebury, Hogan.
Bottom 5 on field – McIntosh, Newnes, Sloane, Heater, Simpson.

Just done a bit of math and the Cripps/Heeney, Joelwood/Goldy mess up cost me from moving up to 33rd in the overall rankings. Not particularly happy

    rd 4: selwood 84
    this is just ridiculous

  21. LOEC1 currently ranked the 3rd strongest league. Top work lads lets keep it going.

2142 for me and up to 1438 in the rankings. Andy B got me this week well played mate.

Vargs looks to have copped a donut which isnt great for the league but hopefully we can keep pushing for number 1.

  22. 2240/Fyfe

Seems a very low scoring week

Had Sloane and NVB stinking it up today – somehow up to 43rd

Loving the work of Cripps, Fyfe, Gibson, Goldy and Hogan this week

  23. 2050/Fyfe (Saviour) / Still struggling not ready to open my eyes quite yet!

Neale for Bartel trade also didn’t pan out was tossing up Jobe so not all bad at this stage.

Starting to think this is the first year I haven’t had one never to play player across each line with team variety for loop hole usage – this looks not the year to have adjusted what previously meant less cows. Any thoughts?

Loopholed VDB’s ton on but couldn’t get Cripps monster score as I was watching the avengers movie with the family…
Guns – Murphy, Hibberd, Gibson, Fyfe, Pendles, Treloar, Goldy, Hogan, VDB
Duds – Shaw, McIntosh, Rich, TBC, D Pearce
Watson, Mitchell and Bont need. to lift

Improving by the week. Will start to build a bit of a war chest for upgrades by bringing Krak and Tarrant for A.Saad and TBC. Thanks for your services gents. Sloane and Rocky should be very tasty in a few weeks.

This means Newnes gets another week. Lucky boy.

Back up to a ranking of 8343 (about a 4k jump) but was expecting it to be worse. Gray out, Sloane disappointing (but thankfully not C), Cripps on the bench while Heeney gave me 7, I forgot the NZ game started so early so ended up with Saad’s 5. I only noticed this after trading in Krak and had to make him the emergency.

While this week sucked I’m happy with how much value I’m gaining with the rookies.

  27. This week will be simple.

    Saad (StK) ?Tarrant
    someone ?Krakouer

Told you all Tarrant was a steal at his starting price. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  28. 2097/Selwood – Mixed feelings

Happy with Boak 146 (finally), Cripps loophole, D.Smith, Hogan, Harry T whilst traded in Hooker & Pittard last week so good result (Out – KK & Goodes)

Not so Selwood, Rich, NVB & Def Rookies – McIntosh, Saad, Oxley & wondering if Macmillan will ever play again – Roobloke? Meanwhile my Rucks are too inconsistent with Jacobs 110 & Z.Smith 47 up and down each week.

Inside top 20K now – looking forward to upgrading these cows soon, although plan was to wait for byes…..

  30. Scored 2147 and obviously had a few spuds like most people. But luckily Cripps and Fyfe (C) gave some respectability and….wait for it….yeah 6th overall ATM.

The timing of my sideways trades of Brown>Oxley and Newnes>Robertson probably couldn’t have come at a worse time, but at least I made a bit of $$ out of it.

  31. 2174/Fyfe/up to 13781 from 36,000 – finally had a win.

Can’t loophole as all my rookies (except R3 of course) are playing so have to get it right, and did. Had AVB, Hoges, CEY and Cripps on the field – cheers to all those who traded out Cripps!!

Heroes apart from those mentioned, Goldi, SP10, Harry T and maybe Griffin.
Qutie a few very Average, and dogs were Sloane, Neale, Harry O and a couple of backline rookies.

What a disaster! Sloane captain, Heeney on field with Vanders on the pine.
Changing the VC from Fyfe to Swan is haunting me.

Will look to bring in Smith and Tarrant for Newnes and ??? this week.

Ah well, at least LOEC1 is up to third!

  33. 1895/Fyfe/Infinity to the second power

Gone about it all wrong this year… trade button will get a work out I’d say but who knows who’s rocking up next week!

Might just get the bubble boys in and trade premiums in after the byes… might actually know who they are by then!

    Stupid bloody game…

  34. 2006 / Fyfe. / Overall 9653

I’m getting killed by the guns half of my GnR plan. The Irish are rather down on guns but big on potatoes, so it perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised I’ve ended up with Spuds and Rookies instead.

    Simpson, Newnes, = 72, 60
    Sloane, Selwood, Beams = 60, 84, 82.
    Tex Walker = 26

Money coming in form the rookies, but darn if the guys I paid big for score like this Ill be fighting to break 2000.

Made all the right moves with Cripps loopholed and Heeney on the bench. Neale 45 probably the only complaint.
