Lets get going in the guts this week. First up, the villains:
Joel Selwood ($546,500, 101.5) – Perhaps I’m being a little rough considering he is averaging over 100 but when you pay $588k for a bloke you expect a little more. His scores are all over the shop (or as kb would say the standard deviation of his scores is quite high) culminating with the weekend’s 70 and corresponding $33k drop.
Adam Goodes ($531,600, 89.5) – In a bit of freefall at the moment because he has yet to crack triple figures. That price represents a total drop of just over $75k. For $600k you’d expect an average of at least 110. If you lost a close match on the weekend because of this guy’s 79 you’d be filthy.
Liam Anthony ($467,100, 84.75) – I know he’s a sophmore but where’s his 95 average from last year? Seems to be struggling against the good teams so with Hawthorn, Melbourne and Adelaide coming up over the next 4 weeks should get back up over $500k.
Sam Mitchell was very lucky not to get mentioned above because I gave him a serve last week. Vince, FRay, Cassisi, and Tambling are also disappointing at the moment.
And the heroes:
James Macdonald ($451,300, 107.5) – OK I know he plays for the Dees but its pretty hard to argue with his numbers. Last two rounds have produced a 115 and a 135 (admittedly against Richmond and Adelaide). I’ve got a little bit of concern about how he’ll go when Cale Morton returns but only a little. Brisbane, North and the Dogs are coming up in his next three.
Shaun Higgins ($489,600, 105.0) – People often ask on this site “should I get Shaun Higgins or X”. Let me tell you: in 95% of the cases I am going to tell you to get Higgins. Especially when he’s under $500k! He delivers you a ton or very close to it every week. Travels once to Manuka in the next 8 rounds and 6 of the other games are at Etihad where he will get a TON of it. Is also a M/F DPP which makes him even more valuable.
Stephen Hill ($417,800, 96.0) – You know how there’s guys that you just love watching go about it? Stephen Hill is one of them for me. You can just tell he’s got a ton of talent and its starting to make itself more and more evident in a Freo midfield that’s firing. Next 3 games are against Richmond, WC, and Brisbane.
Other notables were GAJ, Hannebery, Brennan, Sidebottom, Simpson and of course Goddard, Hodge, Swan and Chappie.
Feel free to add to the list.

Even though he’s score wasn’t as flash as his first 2 games, Barlow gets a honorable mention in my book. He had Lingy wearing in round 3, he managed 17 touches but only scored 53 points then he had to contend with Jonesy who embarrassed Boomer in round 2. Barlow scored a creditable 83 and a avg of 107 ppg. He should have a field day against the Tigers at home this week, not bad for a first year player.

I agree PA – with his size and mobility at home the Tiges will need to play Jackson and two others on him to reduce the damage. As an avid Eagle fan I think he would have fitted in great with our young mids to compliment Selly – but hey! its about time the Shockers’ recruiting staff got it right.

agree with most of those motts, especially higgins. love having him in my side. would include nicky dal in the list of heroes. not that i have him in my side but luke ball seems to get a bit of criticism. hope sam mitchell can turn it around. i cant afford to burn another trade.

Big probs with my punts in the midfield being Luke (can’t get anywhere near it and when I do, murder the) Ball and Mitch (running around like a chook with its head cut off – why can’t you see…Mrs) Robinson and too early to convert the rookies as they are still two weeks away from BE.
To top it off, Woosha declares the old woman who lived in a shoe’s boy gonski without reaching his tradeable price. Time to concentrate on winning leagues rather than cars methinks.
At least I’m not using a female alias like some poor soul (well done on the call PA) – vale Leesa.

Yep, went back over the comments between “Leesa” and her boss “Sir T” on Friday night in the I’m Excited post and they were made by the same person.
You gotta wonder sometimes what goes through people’s heads.

The thing I don’t get is this “Person” is ranked in the top 800 overall and is asking you for advice, is “IT” having a lend at us or want.
Don’t get me wrong I’m using a alias but I’m not telling any cock and bull stories. It’s just wrong, that all.

PA – maybe you can use a more appropriate analagy than “cock and bull” as I’m having bad thoughts of Leesa as the “female” Police Inspector in Ace Ventura Pet Detective with you as Jim Carey giving her plenty of encouragement (need I say more) – particularly during the last scene with Dan Marino and the reverse “bulldog in the knickers” spit, spit, spit!!!

Mr Magoo – think he’s got under all of our guards as the poor man’s Beams and probably with not the same job security as a second year player however he’s surely shown that the SC scoring system suits his game and MM loves someone prepared to win contested footy and create. Going to be much better than his old man IMO even though he doesn’t have the pace as he has good old fashioned footy smarts to read the game.
I’m looking at a sideways for Ball even though this is against my strategy as I believe with Ball’s demise he can be a keeper.

When supercoach bought these new rule dual positioning one question still confuses me..
Take hodge for example. If i put him on the bench in my backline and give him the “E”, and my entire backline play.Yet one of my midfielders doesn’t.
Will he sub in as a mid fielder, even though he is a backline “E” ?

He’s a forward, stevo.
I coulda mentioned Judd who kicked off his year with a lazy 148 but I’ll wait and see whether he can bring it three weeks running. How good was he on the weekend?

Poop my bad motts. And yeah Judd smashed it on weekend, our team without him just doesn’t cut it against the other elite teams. Also like Lucas and Whites performances. Walker did alright too

With Juddy going so well on the weekend it should dispell some supercoaches reluctance to pick multiple players from one team. eg. Judd, gibbs & murph.I have GAJ,Selwood & bartel.Gun players will all find enough ball.has anyone (besides the dills who just picked the entire team they support) got more than 3 players from the 1 team in Backs, Forwards or mids.

I reckon any more than 3 players from one team within a line is a bit much, Scratchie. Geelong mids would be a justifiable exception with any combination of GAJ, Selwood, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Kelly and Duncan.

i think geelong are pretty much the only team where you can afford to have 3 players in the one position. i have ablett and bartel, and will be getting selwood when his price goes down later in the year. i quess u can have montagna hayes and dal santo in the midfield as well….i think judd gibbs and murphy are a bit risky because carlton dont dominate as much as geelong and stkilda, and may be easily subdued by the better teams IMO.

Motts thinks Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Simpson, McLean and Robinson is a perfectly acceptable midfield.

OK maybe I am a little biased – but you gotta admit that you wouldn’t be unhappy with 4 of those 6 blokes running around your engine room.

Gia doesn’t play as a midfielder. If we’re allowing blokes from other positions in, I’m grabbing Houla and Carrazzo!

“A reported hand injury to Matthew Boyd has him touch-and-go”….. Has anyone heard that there is any truth to this? He has been smashing it in my midfield.
