D Byrne-Jones (PORT, 207K) Hard to ignore a player that backs up from a 97 by cracking the ton, especially in a side with their backs to the wall. In the loss to the Cats, DBJ gathered 26 disposals (9 contested) at 80% efficiency and worked hard to turn defence into attack with 2 tackles and 3 inside 50s. Expect to see plenty more of this youngster this year with both Coach Ken Hinkey and Captain Travis Boak giving him praise post game.
T Lee (STK, 123K) In SuperCoach we always seem to love a mature aged rookie and here is one on the bubble. This 25 year old has reinvented himself as a promising defender. On the weekend Lee gathered 14 disposals and 4 marks for his 72 points. In the previous week against the Hawks, he had 19 disposals, 9 marks and 2 tackles. Lee stands at 194cms and was taken originally by the Crows at Pick 60 in the 2008 National Draft.

B Grey (FRE, 238K) This Tasmanian played his second AFL game on the weekend however it was the first he “earned” with his only other match being in Round 23 when Fremantle rested their stars. He looked promising against the Blues gathering 16 disposals (9 contested), 1 goal assist and a very noteworthy 10 tackles. With Fyfe’s leg injury, expect to see more of this 20 year old. Gray was selected by the Dockers at Pick 58 in the 2013 Draft.
J Smith (COL, 102K) Recruited as a 22 year old from Queensland, Smith was given his first opportunity at the top level on Anzac Day. The Pick 25 from the 2015 Rookie Draft did not disappoint, accumulating 23 disposals, 2 clearances, 4 tackles and 1 goal. In the NEAFL in 2015 Smith averaged just under 29 disposals a game, 5 clearances and 5 tackles. One to watch next week, looks a solid downgrade option.
P Wright (GCS, 187K) “Two metre Peter” faced the undefeated Kangaroos in his first outing in 2016, and he clearly imposed himself on the match. Wright finished his 4th AFL game with an enormous 142 points which stemmed from his 3 goals. He also clunked 8 marks (4 contested), had 17 disposals, 2 tackles and 1 goal assist. Fair to say he should do more than just hold his spot. Wright was drafted at Pick number 8 in the 2014 Draft and stands at 203cms.
T O’Brien (HAW, 123K) This 22 year old had just the 7 disposals, 4 tackles and 1 goal in the narrow win over the Crows. The previous week against the Saints, he slotted 2 goals from his 11 disposals and 5 tackles. He should be granted further opportunities with the likes of Roughead out of the Hawks side and with cheap forward rookies looking a little sparse, he could be your man. O’Brien stands at 193cms and was taken at pick 28 in the 2012 Draft.

M Cox (COL, 117K) The American from Oklahoma State University stood tall in his first AFL appearance on Anzac Day. He had 10 disposals, 11 hit outs and 1 goal; looked to be an important part of the Pies structure. Standing at 211cm, in 2015 he averaged 8.3 disposals and 22 hit outs a game in the VFL. Cox will be looking to build on this in weeks to come.
D Currie (CGS, 163K) This journeyman is now at his third AFL club; after 6 years at Sydney and a couple at North Melbourne, he now finds himself at the Suns. On the weekend the 27 year old faced his former team mate in Goldstein and whist Goldy had a fantastic game, Currie was not disgraced. He showed promise with his 8 disposals, 21 hit outs, 3 tackles and 1 goal.
