Apologies for the short write-up due to combination of a short footy week, a SC league Bye week and I’m back at work having had a few weeks off and in catch-up mode. Anyway, I thought I’d rush this info out for anyone looking at rookie trades before Thursdays game.
My Top Five Rookie’s (<$200k) of the week:
1) B Matera (Fwd 192k) Scored 127, average 71.
2) B McCauley (Ruck 91k) Scored 88, played just the two.
3) J Polec (Mid 168k) Scored 81, also just played the two.
4) L Thompson (Def 103k) Scored 78.
5) L Russell (Mid 110k) Scored 61.

What are peoples thoughts on Luke Thompson’s chance for continued run of games for the Crows?

He has a sprained ankle at the moment, but from what I can gather he’ll be up this week. As for job security i dont know, Phil Davis is up for selection this week, Both defenders…

i thought he played pretty well and should play again next week

I would think he was behind Stevens and Davis in the pecking order. Would be a big risk to pick him IMO.

I thought Thompson looked pretty solid….. as always, wait till teams are announced, and I wouldn’t reccomend jumping on him as a massive cash cow, but if you are looking to cash-in someone in these early stages, he may be a good man.

Word around the traps today is that Thompson may stay in this week and Otten get dropped.

I cant confirm this but its what ive heard.
“Port have removed Matthew Lobbe from the long term injury list and put him back on the senior list meaning Irons dropped back to the rookie list and won’t be eligible to play unless Port have another long term injury.”

Can’t they still play up to 6 games as rookie… or something like that?

1 of the articles i read said he wouldnt be able to be selected until after round 12….which i thought was strange.

Each club has the ability to upgrade one player off their rookie list after Rd 12.
The only way to upgrade prior to this is if they have a vacant position on their main list (ala Curnow and Barlow last year) or with an LTI. Once the LTI player resumes training the upgraded player automatically reverts to the rookie list.

Thanks Deano, I still thought you could play as a ‘rookie’ for a limited number of games…. without being elevated, or is that incorrect?

Lester (Bri) – out for season
Tidbit for you all.
Only players to score 100+ in every round (barring the byes of course)
1. Swan
2. Embley
3. Mundy
4. Priddis
5. Sandilands
6. Ottens
7. Goddard
Swan, Sandi and Goddard were always going to be in this list but the other four are a tad surprising. If you’ve got all seven you are both smoking it this year and also a frickin genius!!
Well-loved. Like or Dislike:

should i trade lester out or should i not burn a trade and just have one non scoring bench?

Yeah there is no way at the start of the year I would have put Embley, Priddis, Mundy and Ottens in the top 7 players!
And how good is Goddard – playing not that great and still hasn’t scored below 100.

Good info RB….. and I’m loving my trade-in of Ottens before round 3…… much cheaper that Sandi!

G’day guys, been reading these posts a while and appreciate everyones help. Just wondering your advice on my potential trades this round:
A Otten out, L Thompson in
which gives me a little in the bank for:
A Krakouer out, J Riewoldt in.
Thoughts? Either worth keeping around?

If Otten is just a backup then it would make sense but if he is a regular for your side then maybe not as we don’t know how much you will get out of Thompson.
Syphilis for Krakouer is a good trade at the moment.

Backs currently stand at Newman, Enright, Deledio, Heppell, Goddard, Duigan, Otten, Toy, Coad & Puopolo.
Really struggling – any tips?

Hey JC, I would be careful as your back look fairly solid, however with Coad and Puopolo not playing you are two men down in defence. So only one bench player which will be needed on Bye week or with injury. otten will play pretty much every week, but can’t garentee Thompson.
IMO… I would not make any changes, and look for a defender ot take in place of Coad or Puopolo for coverage. I would also keep Krak-head as he will be back (perhaps sooner if Dick plays like that again)….. he prob just got dropped because of the hand-cuff signal he made to the crowd, as Dick’s form in the reserves had been poor, so i think it’s just a statement as Mick hates that stuff. So my advice is to make no trades unless your giving doughnut’s up forward, and if you are you may be better off cashing in someone on your midfield bench if there is more flexibility there.

Great help mate – appreciate your advice. No doughnuts round the field, just constantly looking for improvements & taking advantage of rookies before they skyrocket.
Fwds are Sylvia, Higgins, N Riewoldt, Tapscott, Matera, Krak, Richardson, Buddy, Chapman, Prestia – so i guess i could even afford to have Krak on the pine most weeks if need be.

love the fact we will get some teams out tonight, the day after the round finished… hectic!!!
early thoughts on trades are:
coad to thompson or perderson (im tipping he’ll be in this week, in the best in the two’s and nth are gonna shake things up)
on another note, did anyone else catch the herald sun article on page 63?? saying heppell will be rested this week??

I want to get J Roo, who would you trade out of Knights, C Richardson and A Krak?
Who would you cash in Duigan for L Thompson (JS?), M Watson (don’t know much about this guy) and S Buckley (JS?)

I’ve got some serious rookie problems, so I’d really appreciate some help.
Who is a good replacement for Bewick? Who’s a good downgrade target for Krak? And finally, what are your thoughts on Mitch Wallis? Thanks!

Bewick’s injury (supposedly) isn’t as bad as first thought and he might even play this week. Wait for teams on WoodKrak if possible. Not sure on Mitch’s JS. Maybe wait another week for him too.
If your trading finger is itchy, Polec looked good in his first 2 games if you’ve $30k spare.

Hey guys.
Trying to fit J Roo in, looking to upgrade Krak but I only have 7K cash. At the same time I really need a mid/fwd DPP player in my mids. I’m thinking about downgrading a premium in my mids to a mid/fwd DPP and then upgrading Krak to Jack Riewoldt.
Anybody think this is a good idea? I would need to downgrade either Marc Murphy, Cross, or Joel Selwood. Help much appreicated!
Thanks.

I think maybe downgrade Murphy as he isn’t exactly setting the world on fire. You probably have libba and curnow so maybe look at Gaff or Wallis

Good day to all,
I’ve got $166,800 left in the bank, and I really want to bring Jack Riewoldt into my SuperCoach team this week (after last week’s effort, he’s definitely back on the wagon), but who to trade out … Krakouer, Knights or Richardson? Personally, I’m thinking Knights (my comments below), but I’d love some more opinion:
- Krakouer still has a low BreakEven, so if he gets named, should still make some more money (plus he’s DPP), and you can’t dismiss his 102 in Round 1 and his 81 in Round 3.
- Knights still has a BreakEven of 43, and given his average over the last 3 weeks is only 61, I can’t see much more value there.
- Richardson’s 11 last week is really going to hurt his future potential, but he’s still only $149,300, and as such, I can’t afford a direct trade to Riewoldt.
Thanks heaps.

Thinking Hibberd will waltz into my SC team. Thinking of him as my first downgrade target. That said, if Krakouer isn’t named in the 22 tonight, and with Collingwood’s bye next week, it’s probably a better, although riskier option, to nab Hibberd now and get the two extra weeks of scores out of him.
Thoughts??
