Regular contributor harbour heroes this week threw the challenge out to name the SuperCoach players people will never EVER pick again and their reasons for that decision.
He then answered his own challenge and I thought it was so good I’ve given his response its own post.
Great work, hh.
Welcome to team “neveragain”.
Rules are simple. List a full starting team (emergencies optional). Try not to bag supercoach gods who have had their day and you couldn’t let them go when it was time (eg judd, a goodes)…… thats you as the failure not them.
Defenders
J Watts (c). Captain. Coach and president of our little band. Probably even organises the chook raffle.
J Roughead. None of the dedication or consistency of his hawks namesake.
D Grimes. Changing clubs has made you worse. Whodathunkit?
L Roberts Thompson. Good clubman. Will do anything for the team bar score Supercoach points.
G Broughton. One great season. Should have rested on his laurels
B Gibbs. And they call Hamish “Heartless”. Now gunshy.
Mids:
N Lovett Murray. How can so much suckage be concentrated into one package is being investigated by scientists worldwide.
R Crowley. Your job is to stop others scoring. Granted you do that bit well. But it doesn’t mean you have to stop yourself scoring too.
L Jetta. Earn your flashy boots first kid, or we will think of you as mini mundine forever.
X Ellis. Your name begins with an x. So should your status as a player.
S Johnson. The modern day David Rhys Jones.
C Rioli. A man of limitless talent, only matched by his limited hamstrings.
C Moreton. Your breakout second year was your peak.
J Toumpas. If only bad footy decisions were supercoach gold.
Rucks
S Mumford. Food or footy mate. You choose.
D Hille. Essendons #1 ruckman. Whenever he isnt their #3 or #4….
Forwards
L Hansen. Has learnt to kick. Seems to have forgotten lots to fit it in.
J Koschitzke. The original waste of talent.
T Varcoe. Still the next big thing. Still will be next year, too.
S Higgins. Fool me once, shame on you. The GW Bush version
S Gumbleton. A man who desperately wants to play footy. His body desperately wants him to be a librarian.
L Franklin (vc). All the gifts. All the talents. None of the braincells.

Higgins the standout for me. NEVER EVER AGAIN.
The Grimes Brothers just can’t take a trick injury-wise and I have been burnt a few times by them. Even selected Jack again at the start of this year.
Agree on Rioili. Whenever I bring him in, bang go the hamstrings.
Have been close to picking Watts a number of times but never followed through. And I’m a Dees supporter.
Nic Nat might be on this list for me soon as well.
Broughton
Hartlett
Sandilands
Dixon
Mumford
Zorko (unless he lifts)
maybe few others
Ablett, Pendles, Swan ……. ohhhh sorry wrong post
Wouldn’t say he should be on here permanently given it was more misfortune for many of us… but Mr Dixon from GC hurt my team this year, perfectly badly timed to bring him in… flounder with him.. then dump him. /facepalm
Never had Watts and very happy about this.
Stanton joined the list 2012 last year after he smashed the first few rounds and got smashed from there on in.
Higgins Is my captain of the never again club
Varcoe absolutley makes the cut, as does Grimey. Broughton welcome to the team, as for Gumbleton…does he even still play?? 😉
Love the post and write up HH/Motts
How about next year for the SCTTL we start with this team?
Love this post, good read!
Chapman
Karnezis
Broughton
Watts
Sandilands
Varcoe

* Special mention to Lachie Plowman and Aidan Corr. It may have only been their first year at AFL level but they were a big disappointment for me.
