Trade Talk – R18

Written by Motts on July 27 2015

Pretty sure a bald bloke with a beard is going to be on a lot of coaches’ minds for all the wrong reasons this week. No, not Paul Chapman.

Righto, fire away!

  1. Everyone with Ablett is pretty much going to trade him out for the best available MID that they don’t currently have. Maybe a poll with the best 10-15 selections would be interesting (i.e.: which will score the most total points for the rest of the season?).

  2. Was so happy to trade out lumumba to GAJ only for harry to outscore the little bald man. Haven’t got danger so he’ll be coming in.

  3. I’ll be going GAJ to Shaw via DPP. Having got Hodge in recently im loving the improvment i my backline. Might try and engineer a double trade to secure Shaw and Picken

  4. No trades for me this week

……. unless Brisbane pull the pin on Beams for the season, Buddy’s back injury turns out to be something more sinister and/or if Horse continues his grudge against Titch.

  5. Ugh. Using my last trade on GAJ to Danger.

WARNING! WARNING! If you have Danger it’s likely his head will fall off on saturday afternoon while running through the banner.

  6. Got to get rid of Gaz but nearly out of trades and need another backman so my plan instead of bringing in the best available mid is to get Selwood in and with the spare money upgrade Steele following week to a good backman and then hope for the best. Thought I’d get too far behind and traded out Wines and McGovern for Gaz and it’s backfired like a lot of other people. I have Dangerfield but I think he would be the one to bring in for Gaz.

  7. Lots of us will be waiting to hear about Beams, Buddy and Titch this week. Injuries and grudges have decimated my team this year!!

  8. 8th spot on percentage in a strong cash league. 5 trades left, playing the top team.

Gaz has to go. Other weak spots are Taylor and Buddy

T/U Gaz – Priddis, Taylor to Roberton
T/D Same trade but buddy to a mid Premo via DPP

  10. So i won and now probably need 5 straight wins to get an unlikely premiership, but Ablett is goneski, so my last trade is bye-bye… Since Steele and Lambert have proven themselves as solid backup, and Maynard is so-so backup for the defence, should I trade GAJ out for a mid premo (run the gauntlet with only maynard and hamling as backup), or def premo (one solid cover for all lines except ruck, but Newnes would become a mid [loophole with lambert, etc])?

    T/U: Mid premo (Sidey)
T/D: Def premo (Picken via Newnes – Hodge not an option due to potential rest etc)

Both Sidey and Picken will probably be required for maximum usage as their sides are digging in for a finals spot.

    Thanks!

  11. Doing a different tactic myself.

Got Saad sitting on the pine…

    Out: Ablett, Saad
    In: Hodge (back) Goddard (mid)

Goddard im taking as the best under my 500k. Already have Neale and think Goddard (with dpp) is a safer bet than Sloane, Lewis and co? Leaving me with 35k and 6 trades..

  12. Has anyone considered Rory Sloane?
could finish the season well after a lengthy time on the side lines this year

  13. Twice bitten and 3rd time shy for most including myself Juddlow I think you will find. Sloane is also still a huge risk with any further knocks to the face/head.

Beams to Priddis for me this week not wanting to take an injured player into supercoach finals and with some crunch match up games this week can’t risk him.
Also Beams himself has said he doesn’t think his shoulder will stand up for the rest of the year. Beams is at a good price to trade at the moment which is better than if he injures his shoulder again during a game and gets subbed out affecting his price and score.

  14. Great everyone is jumping on Priddis there goes my POD.

    Ablett to Sidebum
Krack to Bartel and I move TMitch to midfield bench

    Will have 2 trades left

    TU go for it
    TD Ablett to Danger

  16. Hopefully Beams isn’t put away for the season. At the moment i’m thinking of using my final trades on Ablett > Selwood & Smith > Gibson/Laird.

    TU: Good plan
TD: Leave Smith for now and do Ablett > Dangerfield, keeping a single trade.

  17. I have 5 trades, and Gary and Beams need to be replaced by someone. Er, someones.

I am leaning towards Danger and Priddis.

MJ, Maybe a poll on which two to bring in for those? There must be a pile of people in my situation.

The other thing for me is I am still short one premo, and in thoery I could being in two guys that leave enough left over to pay for the last upgrade.

  18. I’ll probably chicken out by later in the week, but at this stage I’ve bought in big Max Gawn into the fwds via Gray dpp for Ablett (thanks for the one week cameo jerk).

This leaves me with 4 trades and ruck cover if required via DPP.

Only really looking to bring in hodge and Hannebery in the next week or two to complete my side.

    Thoughts?
