One of the things separating Dream Team from Super Coach is that SC normalises its points so that the sum of the 2 teams points always equals the same number. I can’t remember off hand what that number is but check the Herald Sun on Saturday morning which will have the sum of the Saints and Pies scores. Add them together then compare them with the sum of the Blues and Swans scores on Sunday morning and you’ll see what I mean. The point that I’ve taken a long time in getting to is that the condition of the oval at a game like this one will have no bearing on the scores because at the end of the day everything is normalised.
D Giansiracusa ($450,100, 84.73) – he’s good but I just think you can get better value for $450k. 72 with Rockliff on him.
M Boyd ($552,600, 104.05) – proven performer but not on this day. 17 possessions and 78.
R Griffen ($470,800, 88.63) – jesus this guy bothered me last year. I expected so much of him and he just wouldn’t deliver often enough. Take him at your peril. On this occasion he delivered with 113.
A Cooney ($484,100, 91.15) – at this price I’d say he was a viable midfield option but tagged all day by Rischitelli and only scored 60.
S Higgins ($472,700, 89.00) – fairly priced now after opening up last year at $223,800. Can be affected by injury a bit so you’re taking your chances. Got a knock to his left knee in this game and ended up with 64.
L Gilbee ($453,500, 85.38) – had plenty of supergoal chances but couldn’t bank ‘em. An option for your backline but you’d want to see more than 65.
T Rockliff ($109,200, 12) – Tom who? Tom “142” Rockliff just whacked himself fair and square in the middle of my radar. Only played one game last year for Brisbane but was selected in the QAFL team of the year.
J Sherman ($483,300, 91.00) – I like the Sherminator. Reasonable price, good output, played 22 games last year kicking a career high 30 goals and opened his account this year with 128.
J Redden ($313,100, 65.50) – With 113 on Sunday I’ll be keeping an eye on this guy. Made his debut in R15 last year and kept his spot in a pretty decent midfield until the end of the year including the finals. Could be a smokey.
D Rich ($454,900, 85.64) – He ain’t the bargain he was last year but he’s still classy. If he gets better he’ll start getting scary. 67.
B Fevola ($495,700, 93.32) – As a Blues supporter I was disappointed when Brendan didn’t go down in the first with a career ending injury. Could be priced at $83k and I still wouldn’t pick him up. Hope he scores 46’s all year.
J Charman ($159,300, 30.00) – A bargain if he can just avoid the injuries. On this day he couldn’t – dislocated a finger in the first quarter – but he still returned in the second to score 38.
C Beams ($83,400) – Brother of Dayne who was a great pick up for me in the guts last year. Started in Q3 and finished the day with the less than impressive total of -12. Will probably spend more time in the QAFL than with the big boys this year.

To further demonstrate how I roll, I was picking up some Japanese takeaway from an Albert Park restaurant last night and who should be sitting out the front but Higgins and Gilbee.
Where’s the photo, Motts?
Was rushing over to a friend’s place with takeaway. Didn’t have time to snap off shots of Bulldogs players. Blues players may have been a different story…
Just Cooney and Charman to get a look in with my boys out of this lot mate.
No trading for me until the first full round of the NAB Cup is complete.
Liking your selections so far have Charman as the fourth ruckman also. Also a Blues fan so am finding it hard to pick Fev but is a good price
If you’re gonna pick Charman, Al, take him as your third ruckman otherwise you’ve got too much cash sitting idly on your bench. Look at blokes around the $100k mark like Skipper, Currie or Lobbe as your fourth.
And taking my navy blue stained glasses off for a second, even if I was considering Fev, I’d want to know how he works in with Browny before picking him.
Go Baggers!
Charman and Skipper on my bench ….. taken from prior advice, confirmed correct again now.
Warnock and Lobbe for my 3rd and 4th.
Lobbe is perfect as 4th. That way you can have Pettrie of Tippet in the forward line, and swap them around if necessary.
Ottens and Hille 1st and 2nd ruck. Risky, I know. But considering Ottens scored 197 in round 1 last year, followed by a 3 when he got injured in rnd 2, might be worth the risk. Hille may still get swapped depending on NAb matches etc.
Had Skipper pencilled in after last Saturday night, will have a better idea after this weekend!
