Game Chat – Brisbane vs Port Adelaide

Written by Thommo on May 1 2021

Where and when:  GABBA, Saturday 1st May at 7:25pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 5, 2020: Brisbane 12.13 (85) def Port Adelaide 6.12 (48) at the GABBA.

This was a simple case of taking your chances. Port dominated the first quarter and kicked 1 goal and 6 behinds, then Brisbane dominated the second quarter and kicked 6 goals.

And that was pretty much the game.

For Brisbane, Neale, Lyons and McCluggage were best and for Port Boak, Butters and Houston were best. Given three of those players are missing this clash, it’s a little difficult to pick a winner!

Match Preview: Before Round 1, you can be sure both coaches circled this match as an important one! Port has started the season well and a win here leaves them comfortably ensconced in the top 4; Brisbane’s start to the season has been rocky but winning tonight keeps them in the top 8.

With injuries to keep personnel (Boak, Neale, Butters), the team with the best depth should win this.

Thommo Watch:

Brisbane – I am only interested in my new forward Zorko. Let’s go little man!
Port Adelaide – I am happy to report that Boak has joined the legions of injured players on my bench. Hooray!
Thommo’s Tip: Brisbane by 6 (tipping record 8/18).

      1. It’s Sam Mayes for Port, still waiting on the Lions announcement (which is the important one of course)

          1. Chaos tonight.
AFL have still not posted full teams and no medical subs.
            I have posted the teams.

            1. yep, typical poor form on behalf of the AFL … as no teams posted for tomorrow, it hasn’t updated on the official SC site either …

  1. Want to take Grundys score. I have highmore on the bench as emergency as well as Tom Stewart as emergency. If I put the captain on Lachie Jones from port it will double grundys score as vice captain??

    Thanks in advance
