Game Chat – Carlton vs Geelong

Written by Thommo on July 10 2021

Where and When: MCG, Saturday 10th July, 2021 at 4:35pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Rd 3, 2020: Carlton 12.7 (79) def Geelong 11.11 (77) at GMHBA.

Last 5 H2H: Geelong 3 – Carlton 2

Thommo Watch:

Carlton: Like I say every Carlton match, only Walsh is worth watching. Unless you’re an idiot like me and you still have Dow…

Geelong: Dangerfield was back with a bang last week and Guthrie is sure to score well with Selwood out today. Stewart is super consistent when his moronic coach doesn’t change his role.

Match Review: Had anyone else forgotten that the Cats lost to the Blues in Geelong last season? I certainly had!

Does this mean the Blues are a chance again today?

Probably not!

Geelong is playing good footy and they have decent depth to cover the loss of Selwood and Cameron this week, while the addition of Mark O’Connor should help quell the impact of Walsh or Cripps. The Blues are a decent side on their day but it’s hard to see them jumping Geelong like they did last season. I think we have to take the Cats to win this match comfortably today.

Thommo’s Tip: Cats by 25 points. (Tipping record: 26.5/45)

      1. Typical of my season. I’m betting Cripps either 50 or 150. I can trade him to a spud and get Bramble score, but that blows a trade and means I miss Robertson to DeGoey. I’m desperate for a win.

If any one cares to help..

        T/u Hold Cripps
        T/d Trade him

    1. Think he’s a great VC/C, this was his wrap in the captaincy article this week:

      DANGERFIELD v Blues

      L3 v Blues: 75, 156, 133 (121 av.)
      L3 @ MCG: 140, 106, 149 (132 av.)

Went vintage last week! Team high CBA load, 37 touches, 18 contested, 11 clearances and a goal off only 75% TOG! Going to really put non-owners to the sword with 140 this weekend.

  3. Wasn’t quick enough to bench Walsh, field non playing H Sharp to get Brambles 120, damm it. Only other option would be Neale tonight ….
TU – bench Neale to get Bramble E score of 120
TD – back in Neale to match or better it

    1. Surely take the 120, Neale carrying that sore calf and who knows what happens…

      Also might cop attention tonight.

    1. If this’ll help a bit Wighty, my last minute trade for Flynn, took Hawkins as a better option than Hind……..and that includes moving Thilthorpe to R2……

  4. Cripps on 61 at HT fighting through the o Connor tag. He has a massive cork, a broken back, a damaged knee, a sore shoulder and a sore foot. What a warrior.
