Game Chat – Giants vs Carlton

Written by Thommo on June 19 2021

Where and when:  Giants Stadium, Saturday 18th June at 7:25pm (AEST)

Last time they met: Round 15, 2020:  Giants 6.12 (48) def Carlton 5.9 (39) at Metricon Stadium.

Last five H2H: Giants 4 – Carlton 1

Match Preview: The Blues launched sweeping reviews after their disappointing loss to West Coast so it will be interesting to see how the team reacts today. The Eagles know how to pull unexpected wins out but the Giants are not as resilient and they know how to disappoint their handful of fans. The Giants are clearly the better list at present but if the Blues get a sniff, and kick straight, they could undoubtedly upset the Giants.

So how badly do the Giants want the win and will they give the Blues an opening?

Thommo Watch:

GWS
Kelly is the flavour of the week while Whitfield is back pissing off his Supercoaches.
Carlton

Sam Walsh, Cripps and Docherty are the most popular Blues although a few teams still have Dow stinking up their benches.

Thommo’s Tip: GWS by 20 points (tipping record 19.5/37).

  2. Just saw a decision against Owies that should have been play on……
The ball was knocked from his possession before he was tackled.
The umpires couldn’t have seen that from where they were….LOL

  3. If Briggs could hold on to a few of these marks he’d actually be putting together a decent scoring half.

  4. Carlton are looking incredibly poor. Second rate at almost everything and they look hopeless everywhere.

DeBoer has Walsh in his pocket, restricted him to one touch in almost 30 minutes but the other Carlton mids are doing nothing to help him.

Seriously this is hopeless footy for a team that should be well rested. Giants haven’t needed to get out of 3rd gear.

    1. Gimpy after an ankle injury and subsequently not in and around the contest as much. Definitely isn’t running as freely as he normally would.

An extra 1 million to spend
& 4 more trades to to make up for it

      1. Rowell has posted a 54 and a 70 since returning from injury. Meanwhile, this is Walsh’s worst score for the season (next lowest is 89) while being tagged by one of the top 3 taggers in the game. If someone trades Walsh for Rowell, they’ll get what they deserve.
