Where and when: University of Tasmania, Friday 6 March, 7.40pm AEDT
Watchlist:
Tom MITCHELL (HAW) MID @ $630,900
Looked fine last week, but excitedly reported to be playing a full game tonight. You’d be a fool to not watch closely!
Damon GREAVES (HAW) DEF @ $123,900
This random red-head with an innocuous VFL record showed up out of nowhere and impressed last week. Long term injuries to Hardwick and Impey could see him pick up a spot down back.
James SICILY (HAW) DEF @ $509,500
A popular D2 pick currently. Looked sluggish and touch underdone in State of Origin to be honest, but Hardwick out will likely mean Sicily’s back on kick in duties. Consider.
Christian PETRACCA (MELB) FWD @ $441,300
Has been all the rage since that 188 in Marsh One. Will be tracking his center bounce attendances and time FWD to deduce whether that performance was an anomaly or an indication that we should jump up on. Heeding the caution of those denouncing him as “Petrappa” but numbers like that are hard to ignore.
Aaron VANDENBERG (MELB) FWD/MID @ $248,000
Giving away my secret plan here, but I couldn’t dog SCT like that! Posted a solid ton in Marsh One and has been increasing his training load since. Think players such as himself, Bonar, Noble, Bewley, etc., can cover for the lack rookies and get us that first upgrade early. We’ll see.
Notable Absentees: Blake HARDWICK (HAW).

I know this is not the place to post this but i don’t know where to put it so here goes.
Over the last few days almost every time i try to get onto this great site i am getting a “Dangerous Web Page Blocked” message from “norton” and asks me to contact the site owner to get the site added to the safe web report.
Can someone get this done please?
Thanks
Hey, Shaun.
Yeah, I’ll pass this on to Motts or Hutta. They’re probably best equipped to deal with it. Cheers for the heads up.
I noted something similar last year, though not that ‘severe’. I get a constant message “not secure” …
It indicates the following:
Not secure: Proceed with caution. Something is severely wrong with the privacy of this site’s connection. Someone might be able to see the information you send or get through this site.
When you go to a site that uses HTTPS (connection security), the website’s server uses a certificate to prove the website’s identity to browsers, like Chrome. Anyone can create a certificate claiming to be whatever website they want.
To help you stay on safe on the web, Chrome requires websites to use certificates from trusted organisations.
It may be something to do with this … and not sure if there is anything Mottsy can / needs to do …
Just some extra info …
Yep – “Norton” is doing the same to me.
Try using a browsing app called Brave, it will change http sites to https. Recommended on websites that talk about internet security.
Thanks for the heads-up everyone. Just letting you know we’re looking into it, but it may take a few days to take effect. These issues tend to effect various operating systems and devices differently, so it can be tricky to identify.
Thanks Brian for the suggestion about the Brave app. There’s also a free app called AdGuard, which may be helpful for people having issues.
Lots on watch this Game. Gawn looks a specimium. Interested to see how Wingard roles this game.
So most people’s f3 poster boy about to run around. Plus the most popular d1 on this site. Let’s see how they go. Good to see Gawn up and about as well. I’ll b watching Greaves closely 2.
Dont think Greaves is playing…..
On the bench rn.
OOOF! Melksham!
That was a horrific kick.
Ptrappa on the ball. Looks good too.
Gawn 67
Mitchell 62
Oliver 43
Petracca 36
Ceglar 30
Patton 33
Greaves on bench still, yuk!!
Yeah, not much sign of rookie action anywhere. Very disturbing.
Gawn running without injury. Looks good for RD1
See how ptrappa gets through the 2nd Half. But spending lots of time around the ball.
He might look good for round 1 but how the hell do you afford a G&G combo with no rookies?
Tough Harbour Heroes
Was also planning on 6 Uber mids
but may need to reassess.
Thought there were a few rookies in backline but now Gould dropped , Greaves unlikely to see any action tonight , no Rivers , Bianco or B Williams and iffy job security of Ash and Mcassey..
Choices ?? However everyone in same boat ♀️
Everyone is in the same boat, but everyone who plans for it at least gets to choose their seats first.
Have to consider those mid price bargains now eh HH??!! (*wink* for AS!! )
But for me, you still cant go past the top two rucks … have to get those points.
May need to seriously consider the number of those middies / reduced price previous premos from serious injury and even take a couple of the rookies who we think will definitely play … even if not in the first week or two … one possible option …
Going to be a very interesting year … but also, this is just for now … who the heck knows what the real coaches will do … they may already be happy with some of the rooks … there’s usually always ones that show up on the first weekend …
PBuzz – for me, never been a fan of starting with the 6 premo mids … it just seems that every year, they rarely repeat (looking at total scores … not necessarily averages! – so key for OA) … and you run the risk of missing out on that one that does go off … but that’s just me!
I’m with you Macca, but this year with poor forward and defence does it become more viable?
I’m tinkering with 6 – but no injury prone, no older mids. No Danger, Fyfe or Jelly.
Worth consideration…
Thanks Macca
Currently Have Macrae Neale Cripps Dunkley Oliver Mcluggage
Rowell at 7 and Pickett at 8 .
Will end up coming down to choosing best rookies on each line then working back .
Some good Mid price options in backs and forward as well influencing my decision .
Reluctant to change too many of my selections based on preseason . Petracca and
Mcpherson tempting but may target as upgrades if form continues
Yeah mate it’s going to be a really interesting season!!
Will either of these teams be relevant this yr?? Top 8 wise
My fear for the Demons is that even with Gawn and Oliver, once they try to get it into the fwd line, they’ve got bugger all targets to do anything with it!
From what I saw of Gawn, he looks like no worries … dominated Ceglar and his only worry would be opposition pinching his taps!! Look OK jumping etc …
Missed a couple of scores
Sicily 55
Vandeburg 11
If anyone wants the scores then Footyinfo the app is good
Hmm, has Petrappa just put himself back into trap territory, or did Viney just take away too much of his opportunity?
How many people are going to log in and trade Petracca for MacPherson in the next few days??
Think I prefer Ceglar
Keep in mind that Ceglar was on around 30 at HT after going up against Gawn then dominated the young kid in the 2nd half
Good point and quite true Daisy. But having said that Gawn is a different kind of beast all together, there is only 1 other guy like him in the whole league.
So the way I see it even if he scores, let say 60 odd against Gawn & Grundy, I’m confident he can average 95+ for the year. 60 being his absolute floor.
My main fear is McEvoy.
Thinking of selecting Wingard. DONT.
Not sure what to make of Petraccas game. The CBAs and midfield time is impressive. The score was not. Think the danger is if he doesn’t perform as a midfielder he could easily go back to last year’s role. I’m thinking wait and see, but possible upgrade target.
Yeah. Exactly right, Sprinter. I think I’m priced in to start him at F3 though.
Could say the same for Greenwood too.
Anyone considering Adam Tomlinson? He’s averaged to score 56.9, but oddly, the last 2 years he’s averaged 71 and played 22 games the last 2 years.
Only $390k and I think will have a lot more opportunities at the Dees.
He’s now on my radar anyway!
Two observations.
1. Gawn a lock.
2. Going to look at all my prems and try and come up with a side that drops 2 or 3 of them and finds plenty of cheaper options to make up for lack of rookies. Mcpherson looks a likely first choice for this strategy.
What is up with the Worpedo??? are they playing him forward with the return of Mitchel?
