Last Minute Queries – Round 11

Written by Dane on May 26 2023

With both teams desperate for a win (or another in the Swans case), Friday night should be a cracking game.

If you’ve got some issues leading into the weekend though, this is the thread to use, put them in the comments below to hopefully find an answer.

  1. Sometimes you’ve just gotta play the cards you’re dealt. I can’t see anything I can do without:

A: Bringing in cows that have already had a $ increase.
    B: Going early on rookies (we all know how that can go) or;
C: Being Satanless the rest of the season.

So I’m straight swapping Hollands for Merrett, holding Satan, backing the (exactly) 22 players i have named and praying to the Supercoach gods.
    Wish me luck coaches!

  2. Tu:
    Out. kelly Simpson cincotta
    In. Laird Humphrey weddle

    TD:
    Out. Kelly Simpson
    In. Laird Humphrey

Is TU too sideways even for the cash generation I’ll get? And uses a boost

  3. 20 trades and two boasts remaining. Playing for my cash league wins. Never been this unsure of what to do with an injured player.. use the trades or hold tight.. warm bodies for the byes is a big concern. Currently sitting 2nd on the ladder

    TU
    Out: Oliver, Cincotta, Simpson
    In: Stewart, Ridley, Ford

    TD
    Out: Baker, Simpson
    In: Ridley, Ford

Comment: hold your nerve and don’t trade

    1. I’m mid-table in my leagues with 13 trades and 1 boost left in this horror year so 2nd on your ladder with 20 trades and “2 boasts remaining” counts as a boast in my books…
Think you only have 1 left, Lee.
Do you have Plus? If so, you can check your H2H matches for the next three rounds and take a gamble based on whether you are meeting cellar dwellers or your top-end competitors over the first few bye rounds before you make the hold/trade call.

  4. Do any red hot carlton fans think concotta can break back into that side in the next fortnight? Or do we trade to weddle…

    TU: TRADE
    TD: HOLD CINCOTTA

    1. Not a Blues fan,

But he’s not even in the 26, I’m off loading him next week but I cannot see him back in with Silvagni / Young types named emergencies

  5. Hi,
Who should I trade in? (I’m aware they have a bye next week)

    TU: Steel

    TD: A. Brayshaw

    Thank you!

  6. Ranked about 2500, also have no H to H matches in our league over the 4 bye rounds 12-15 so no real need to trade oliver. Playing for leagues and high overall. However…l don’t know what to do

TU Oliver and roberts to Sicily and Atkins, 12 trades left

TD roberts to wardlaw only, Keep Oliver thru the byes

  7. T/U – Kelly, JVR & Wilmot to Merrett, Wardlaw & Sinclair

    T/D – Kelly & Davey to Merrett & Humphrey

T/U gives me 18 playing next week at worst, prior to trading in Ford (most likely), however bringing in Sinclair before his Bye isn’t the best choice

  8. Hey coaches, tough one here:

    T/U Zerrett this week
T/D Field Wardlaw this week and Grab Dawson Next

    Cheers, good luck!

  9. Will Tom Berry be able to hold his spot throughout the byes? Rookie with the Rd 13 bye for cover if he plays

  10. Trade out

Tu: cincotta (out now but if hes in at any point he may make good money)

Td: tyler young – if he is named in this week (a playing rookie who will make a little money)

Already have constable, teakle and sharp as dead rookies

  11. Seriously considering Ballard over Sinclair for better overall bye structure + more money ITB.

Currently have 140k ITB with the Sinclair trade. Worth it? Bye structure still improved by going Clarry to Sinclair.

My other trade this week is Simpson to Serong.

  12. Contemplating Fyfe for Fergus Greene with him named on the field.

    T/U: Roll the dice
    T/D: You are mad!

    1. he got an 80 last week from 53 TOG if you count his clangers and FAs against, 42% cba subbed off in the third and PPM when on as sub in his other two sub affected games is enough for me

  13. Stuck between a rock and a hard place traded Oliver in last week and gets injured, would like to hold but have mostly dead rookies on the bench.

DEF: Dawson, Ziebell, Stewart, Daicos, Sheezel, Weddle (Cincotta, Constable)
MID: Bont, Oliver, Laird, Green, Merrett, Steele, Ashcroft, Baker (Wilmot, McLean, A.Davey)
    RUC: Marshall, Gawn (Madden)
FWD: Dunkley, Taranto, Rozee, Cogs, Humphries, S.Mitchell, (JVR, Simpson)

$114,900 ITB – 20 trades left (three boosts)
    Any tips/feedback is much appreciated

  14. Have I missed the boat with Humphreys?

TU – nah get him in, plenty of cash to make
    TD – don’t bother

  15. 16 trades left start of round
Bench rookies are poor and have 4 rookies to upgrade

Out – Oliver , Ryan and Cincotta

In – Sicily , Brayshaw/neale and Ford

  16. Feeling really stressed about byes coming up. Trade this week:

    TU: Wines

    TD: neale

Wines 120k cheaper which can help with limited cash gen and bye planning. Not sure if I can trust him tho.

    1

    4
    1. T/U: Samson Ryan and Simpson to weddle and a premo (merrett, neale or Sinclair)
T/D: Roberts or Simpson to Weddle

      1

      0
  17. TU Cowan->Mcandrew, Hold Simpson
TD Simpson -> Wardlaw, Hold Cowan

Burn it all down. Bringing in a rookie not on the bubble in order to get in Merrett now

  18. Trying a few options to see if I can survive byes with leaving Oliver on the bench.

    OUT : Simpson & Cincotta – IN : Wardlaw & R Atkins in?
I already have Humphrey & Weddle.

TU: Good plan and helps my R12 & R14 byes with 2 extra bodies.
TD : Not so much, better to just trade out Oliver

    1

    1. Maybe just one of those trade-outs instead? Not sure if Atkins will be particularly worth it long term

  19. Ok – straight shoot out to prevent a donut. Fergus Greene traded for:

    T/U Fyfe
    T/D E. Ford

Fyfe would help with R15 bye’s and could be maybe get more by not being the sub!

  20. who is the best option to bring in for oliver??? anyone in the league. dawson, laird, serong, brayshaw, etc.
    Who do i go?

    1. All great options. I’d say Laird because he is at a fantastic price right now. Dawson might be a better option but is set to drop in price. Serong just as good but at a tad price bump and with an imminent bye. Baby Brayshaw probably set to have some massive games this year but low price and imminent bye means you could get away with waiting.

  21. Thinking Oliver and Stringer to Laird and Sheed.
It’s the Sheed part I’m not sure on maybe roll the dice on Fyfe.
    T/u -yep
T/d – you fool, have another frothy and think some more!
    Thanks!

    1. Where’s the “do the trade AND have another frothy” option?!

Can’t boost Stringer and a dead rookie into some sort of proper premo? Think we’re all waiting post-bye for Fyfe. Sheed could go alright but another 110k can get you to Neale, 120k to Brayshaw, 130k to Merrett, all on another level than Sheed

      1. Hey MT,thanks for the reply.
No dead rookies….bar Sharp and I need a loop for byes. Not really trusting Neale, just ask GD how he feels about him this year! Already kicked Brayshaw once and having bought Darcy back after booting him and copping what he’s given me since I’m traumatised about doing the same with him. I think I’ll go with your suggestion- nother frothy and trade!

    Thoughts, Any other options?

  23. Trade out which of the below to humphrey
Will Simpson be back next week?
    Tu- concotta
    Td- Simpson

    3

    2
  24. TU) Sicily + 75k
    TD) wines + 184k
    TU/TD BELOW) Laird + 30k
Still got 3 rookies onfield after this move

Laird looks best for pts right now but Laird breaks the bank so is he still the play? Feel I’d take a 95+ from wines with that cash left over if it gets me a brayshaw or steele after their bye, thoughts? Sicily also seems value now he’s got that role back of 3rd tall

    1. Wholly depends in whether you have enough cash gen to finance the rest of your upgrades.

If you’re confident you can grab Sic/Baird this week and still do your upgrades, then no worries.

If not, go budget and hold the bank.

  25. NEED HELP! Want to get players that play and can generate some cash

    OUT: Simpson & Teakle
    IN: Wardlaw & Weddle

    TU: Do it!
    TD: Don’t!

    6

    1. CAVEAT** Would mean I only have 14 trades left, no boosts and 5 spots left to upgrade to premo on the field!

  26. Loop Johnsons 71 or roll the dice on Atkins (M7) Humphrey (M8)

    TU: take Johnson
    TD: play the GCS boys.
    Comment which GCS to drop

  27. If Drury does NOT get picked as the sub tomorrow for North, should I…

TU: Leave Wardlaw on as M8
TD: Swap Wardlaw for Drury, so I can loophole him to take Matt Johnson’s 72

Keep in mind, North are playing the current No.1 side this round
