  1. Carlton’s Elijah Hollands will undergo scans on a suspected hip/adductor injury from today.

Zac Williams was assessed for a right calf concern late in the fourth quarter.

Zac Williams has avoided any concern with his leg, coach Michael Voss not concerned post-game.

Sam Walsh tracked well over the weekend, just about a lock for Round 5

  2. Tribunal News.

Melbourne will challenge Kysaiah Pickett’s one-match ban at the Tribunal.
The Match Review Officer graded the incident as careless conduct with high contact and medium impact, triggering the ban.

Carlton has accepted Lachie Fogarty’s one game suspension for striking Nat Fyfe.

  3. Hawthorn: Massimo D’Ambrosio spent 20 minutes and 58 seconds on the bench in the final quarter. He started the quarter on the bench for 5 mins so had a 5 and 15 min stint.

With 10 minutes to go Hawthorn only had 2 rotations left. Which they kept for injuries so D’Ambrosio was stranded on the bench.

“Playing his role really well. Building his game week on week. He’s had a super pre-season. He’s made a big impact over pre-season. He’s getting reward for effort because he’s worked his backside off.”

    1. Hi Willy.

I will be updating the DPP list this week. Probably tomorrow.

There are currently 39 names on track to gain DPP status and another 4 are between 30-35%

It has been confirmed three games will be enough for the first round of DPP updates.
So if Clohesy, Comben etc play the next two weeks they will be eligible.

Ryan Maric sore, but ok – remarkably still a chance to play this weekend.

Jai Culley and Dom Sheed got through first WAFL game, sore but all clear, will play WAFL again.

Liam Ryan to play WAFL mins this weekend.

Probably wanted some more experienced players in the team. No VFL on the weekend to help get his spot back

  6. Could anyone please tell me JHF current forward % for DPP? If he gains forward status could almost be a must have this week!

    2

    4
      1. JHF had a 91% /9% MID/FWD split on the weekend.

If Wines returns this weekend will it impact JHF midfield %. More forward but lower scores?

After the way he played last weekend it would be hard to move him out of the mids.
What happens to Wines will be interesting.

  18. AFL press release on Jeremy Finlayson

The AFL wishes to advise that Port Adelaide player Jeremy Finlayson has been found guilty of breaching AFL Rule 2.3(a) (Conduct Unbecoming) in relation to an incident during the third quarter of Friday’s nights match against Essendon.

Finlayson used an unprompted and highly offensive homophobic slur against an Essendon opponent, which demeans and denigrates persons regardless of their sexuality.

Finlayson has received a three-match suspension and is required to attend appropriate Pride in Sport training as approved by the AFL in which Finlayson will pay for personally.

He will not be eligible to play for Port Adelaide during Round 5, 6 and 7, including playing in the SANFL.

In determining the sanction, the AFL took into account Finlayson’s immediate apology and contrition, both privately on the night, publicly the next day and again on Monday.

To be clear, without the full and frank admissions, apologies and contrition that Finlayson showed, the sanction would have included a longer suspension.

“Everyone, including Jeremy understands the word he used is both hurtful and totally unacceptable in any setting, ever,” AFL General Counsel Stephen Meade said.

“The AFL is very clear that homophobia has no place in our game, nor in society. We want all people in LGBTQI+ communities to feel safe playing or attending our games and we know the incident that happened on the weekend does not assist this goal. As a code we will continue to work together to improve our game as a safe and inclusive environment for all.

“The AFL will continue to consider the specific circumstances in each incident in determining appropriate responses. Jeremy’s sanction would have been higher if he didn’t immediately understand and take ownership of his mistake both privately and publicly.”

All AFL and AFLW Players and officials receive yearly education regarding vilification and the effects of such behaviour, and we will continue to build on anti-vilification training across our code at all levels.
