Hey everyone. This is the first mock up that I’ve done. I would really appreciate any advice about any missed rookies and my setup.
Def: Sheezel, Holmes, Mills, Travaglia, Allan, Smith (Reid, Leake)
Mid: Bont, Butters, N. Daicos, Serong, Oliver, Peatling, Tsatas, Draper (Knevitt, El-Hawli, Erasmus)
Rucks: Xerri, TDK (Boyd)
Fwd: JHF, Macrae, Smith, Daniel, Hewett, Kako (Lynch, Davidson)
Flex: Harvey Langford
A very nice team. Solid structure. Top line picks all good.
All I can think of is plantar fasciitis (PF) for Daicos and Mills. Daicos had light PF a bit over a month ago but reportedly past it. Mills was mild as of the other day – he’s the bigger watch.
Levi Ashcroft you might end up needing but an easy switch around once we see the proper practice games and then sheets.
I spotted Daicos rubbing his groin a couple of times and stretching it out (coincidentally sounding bad). Hopefully nothing. He did kick a goal from 50 straight after
pre community series games side. ill probably change this team tonight but currently sitting like this
DEFENCE
Sheezel NWM Rivers Freijah O’Sullivan allan (Leake O’Connell)

Traditionally gone pure GNR and started slow. This year I’m going to ride Cerra types and see if I can have a hot start before trading my way to a best 23. All thoughts appreciated
I can see the logic in that. However, regression for English was over 1 season. He has historically been a gun. I’m willing to take the punt and avoid an even bigger risk…..TDK, Meek, Jackson et al. Lost cash is a concern, I get that. But chasing to make a change is also a concern. For mine, a much larger concern.
Perhaps. It’s also possible that a player just has a shit year. There’s been a lot of narrative around the fact that English struggled with the rule changes, possibly. It’s also possible he just dodnt have a great season. Risk, yes. Upside, yes. Downside, yes. That’s the fun.
I’m bit of an English fan, Big C.
Last season he come in well and truly underdone from memory it was concussion issues. So he missed 90% of the pre season so didn’t have the tank & match fitness to match his 2023 heights.. at this point in time I’m backing him in to bounce back. I’m not to concerned about that abdominal injury it was very minor…
He’s in my side atm Big C. Maybe its because he didn’t burn me last year but to still average 108 in a down year has my attention. I just needed to see him play in both praccys to be on him.

BANK : 90k
Still fiddling.. not sold on Richards after a calf scare. Could go up to an uber or side swap to rozee. English isn’t locked I really like meek and Cameron if it weren’t for their byes. Also have cerra vs perryman at the minute just have perryman ages because I prefer the midfield rookies onfield over defensive rooks. Love any feedback.
Yeah I’m still bullish on Steele, GD. I think you warned me off him in my first draft haha but gee he looked good the other day. Close watch in the official pre season game this weekend.
Rozee screams value but I owned him last season and held him all year after starting him.. the scars are still fresh. But huge fan.
Yeah wonder that a bit myself. Rozee and Butters have owned CBAs all preseason in match sims etc but what worries me is rozee’s versatility. Bit of a mr fix it if port need and the skipper so probably willing to sacrifice himself a bit more for the good of the team. Love his fixture though, juicey.
Richards went for scans for a possible calf tear the other day. The club says it come back clear but still enough to scare most off an already risky pick at an awkward price.
V2 – Structure change and plenty of players that have come out/in based on praccy matches, will be keen to watch this weeks offical pre-season games.
DEF- H.Sheezel, NWM, M.Holmes, H.Perryman, C.Mills, B.Allan (Z.Reid, J.Busslinger)
DEF COMMENTS – I’m just really not sold on any of the defensive rookies apart from Allan. Travaglia doesn’t look best 23 at this stage either, so I’ve decided to run deeper in my defence.
Sheezel hasn’t moved since the day I put him in. NWM, watched him play the the praccy and he was the main man out of that defence, very good user of the footy and kicks over handballs majority of the time! Can definitely take it up a level this year. Holmes has been in the midfield group all pre-season, in my eyes if he stays fit he’s an easy top 6. Perryman playing inside mid for the pies and plenty of CBAs, caught my eye in the praccy and someone at this stage I’m willing to take the punt on. Mills I’m a bit wary of with the recent news of that foot, but unless not named R0 he stays in.
MID- M.Bontempelli, N.Daicos, A.Brayshaw, C.Oliver, N.O’Driscoll, E.Tsatas, L.Ashcroft, H.Langford (A.Sheldrick, M.Knevitt, E.Hewett)
MID COMMENTS- Bontempelli & Daicos definitely better to start with them than try and get them down the track! Brayshaw is back this year, uninterrupted pre-season, looking the goods in the praccys and I feel as though Serong gets tagged over him! Oliver is a lock. Rookies all subject to change, however unlike the defence, we have a larger crop of solid rookies that should play R1. O’Driscoll played with the “A” team today in Freo’s match sim and by all reports looked very comfortable playing in the middle/wing.
RUCK- T.Xerri, L.Meek (H.Boyd)
RUCK COMMENTS- No change here, still very bullish on Meek, yes his bye isn’t ideal, but for his price and what I think he can offer, he’s worth it.
FORWARD – JHF, J.Macrae, B.Smith, C.Daniel, T.Lynch, I.Kako (C.Stone, S.Davidson)
FWD COMMENTS- Pretty cookie cutter. All I need Lynch to do is play a solid 5-6 games to start the year to make some good quick cash. By all reports he’s looking very strong and fit this pre-season.
FLEX- L.Reidy
COMMENTS- Played with the “A” team today for Freo’s match sim. Was the main ruckman all day and played well by what I’m hearing. While Darcy is out I like him there.
Definitely thought about Short but has burnt me in the past so wanting to see a solid pre-season game this week, have heard he’s the main distributor out of that Richmond defence.
Trent Rivers is another one I’m considering after seeing his role in match simulations and training. Just conscious that Viney and Petracca aren’t back yet.
Team looks great but you’ve got so many rookies that really arent going to play it seems. You’ll almost certainly be culling a premo to get higher priced rookies in

140k itb looking to make either clarry roberts or short into an upgrade depending on round 0 and who goes well.
Don’t know how others feel, but Im not a fan of having expensive rookies taking up bench spots, ie: your mids Tsatas and even Knevitt is getting up there for a bench spot.
Love the Day pick.
Here is my third go! I’ve gone for four ‘highly possibles’ in the mids, Richards, Day & Ashcroft should have break-out years and Oliver is a gun who is on the way back after a bad 2024.
Def: Martin, Clark, Wang-Milera, Allan, El-Hawli, Leake [a bit weak those three, but not many options] – Reid & Bice.
Mids: Bont, Butters, Richards, Day, Oliver, Ashcroft, Knevitt [??], Kako – Hewett, Hustwaite, Charleson [bench warmer]
Rucks: Xerri, Meek – Boyd
Fwds: JHF, Moore, Rankine [gone heavy here], Daniel, Curtin, Erasmus – Stone, Angove

Tear it to pieces!!!
Hey all,
Don’t usually love posting full teams on here but am really torn on the defense situation but not sure where to find the extra money from. All thoughts appreciated!
More of a GnR approach except the fwd line.
Heavy in DEF as I see more value and options up fwd.
Oliver/Day are interchangeable. JHF will still be obtainable down the track.
11-12 keepers.
Hello All. Back for season 2025 with that air of optimism that comes before any season kicks off! Any thought welcome.

Gone heavy in backline coz I’m not sure how many good playing rookies we will get to choose from. No Bont which hurts but needed cash elsewhere. Like Cripps draw but can always change. Had Xerri but went with some Collingwood bias with Cameron who had a great year last year and now I don’t see Cox playing that much and Cameron was put in Leadership group which hopefully will boost his scoring a few %. Not running with Bailey Smith which could be disastrous, but fingers crossed.
This is my team currently. Have 32k left in the bank, had to make some changes following the injury news to Jagga Smith and Travaglia’s role being worse than expected.
DEF: Sheezel, NWM, Rivers, Mills, O’Sullivan, Allan

Still not entirely sold on TDK’s role so may switch him for Cameron or Meek. Also looking at bringing in Dawson for Anderson depending on role.
Looking out for Rioli as the 3rd dashing indigenous halfback – although may not see him until Round 0. Blues just signed 2 small forwards so watching Motlop for midfield rotations/higher up the ground role. Looks super fit. Also like Jed Walter at F5.
I swear this team changes daily and I would loving more that an extra couple of million in the bank….

O’Sullivan might be an option and noted Jaxon Prior is picked at half back for Essendon. Both a bit more expensive but O’Sullivan has been talked up pre season as a good chance.
But yes seems Travaglia and Leake are unlikely. Reid has good JS but will be a slow burn, definitely D8
I had Reid last year and he lasted close to a half against Hawthorn. But notwithstanding his injury, think he was on all of 15 points!!! I’d rather not have him at all but at this stage there doesn’t seem much choice.
With the best 18 rounds early on I’m happy to start 3-3 and see how things are panning out come rd 5. Should have a clear picture of what def rookies are needed by then and if there isn’t any that will be the time to make some corrective moves.

Gone POD in the backline, not sure why everyone seems to have gone off Ryan and Whitfield – reckon their roles are even stronger this year than last. If SDK takes the primary ruck role at Geelong, then he’ll rival his brother’s numbers at Carlton.
Taken a big risk with the midfield. I’m backing in Rowell, Holmes, Day and Oliver to have big seasons. Rowell has always been hard at the ball, but it looks like Hardwick has encouraged him to get on the outside, go forward and kick goals, ditto for Serong at Freo. Holmes and Day breakout years and Oliver back to his best.
Rucks – Hoping English doesn’t get concussed and bounces back to what his output was a few years ago. Word is that Pittonet is out for the first few rounds of the season for Carlton so TDK will make some hay.
Forwards are same, same but I’m backing in action Jackson to become THE unicorn. No tonsils no worries for the bulked-up ruck/forward/mid!
Freo will play Reidy as the number 1 ruck – they simply cannot afford to play one of the best emerging forwards in Treacy as a second ruck. Reidy, as the flexi, will rack up some nice numbers hitting out to one of the best midfields in the comp.
P.S. not sure if anyone picked up on the Freo vibe… FLAGMANTLE!
looking at the draw, Fremantle start with Cats away (nice for Reidy) and then have 3 home games in a row (Swans, West Coast and Dogs – pretty good for Reidy).
they then have two games in Melbourne. Will they fly Darcy across Australia? or wait until round 7 back in Perth?
If all things being equal then Reidy will play the first 6 rounds, at least. They won’t risk Darcy and there’s talk Freo will play him at Peel first before he comes into the side. Murphy played with the ‘A’ team in the recent match sim and talk is he has impressed the coaches – we got him for a steal in the draft, given he was touted to be top five prospect. Unfortunately it looks like Erasmus, Brodie and even Johnson have dropped down the pecking order. Looks like NOD and JOM will share wing/inside mid roles.
Reidy was dominant for Peel in the WAFL grand final and he’s had all preseason to work with the Freo on-ballers.
Jackson has been playing second ruck at the same time. Reports suggest he was playing sick most games last season due to severe tonsillitis, he’s had them removed in the off season, which meant a delayed start to his preseason and he’s bulked up (as instructed by the club). I expect (maybe more hopeful) that he will go nuts this season.
Think I will steer clear of both Jackson and Reidy. Hard to select Jackson if Reidy is playing and hard to choose Reidy if Boyd is playing at the Saints (and I would rather have Boyd at Flex and a ruck/fwd at R3 rather than Reidy at R3 or Flex). I also want the option to play Knevitt at Flex which I can’t do with the Boyd/Reidy combo. Really hoping Archer Reid gets games or named Round 1 which would make the decision easy.
Anyone else think Heeney is being really slept on for another big season if he’s playing in the midfield again? Could be a huge POD considering his ceiling.
I find it hard to pick any of Neale, Daicos, Gulden or Heeney given their bye and probably having multiple outs in the rookie/value picks from those 4 teams.
That said, one bad game from any of them they become an early upgrade target.
Paying little attention to the rookies at the moment but they are expensive on the bench so hopefully have 1 or 2 downgrade options to start to free up some $.
This is very mid-price/value pick happy but feel confident that I have 4 genuine captain options in Xerri Gawn, Bont and Sheezel.
Rankine, Gawn, Rioli and Short are most likely to be flipped around.
We get a look in Rd0, so this should help. In my team at the moment and pretty easy to move out given his price. I personally think he’ll be worth it, maybe sub affected early but assuming he plays well he should stay in and make enough money.
Mills out and defenders are getting a bit light on. Might try a POD Saad from Carlton, gets me through to Rd12 and if you believe SC projected score of around 90 for the first few rounds.
T/U: Saad (Carlton)
T/D: Roberts (Swans)
All those who gave the tu to roberts should watch the game against giants where he had 1 kick-in and did almost nothing else.
At no stage did he look like the preferred option for distributing out of defence. He might be an example of different coach different role.
If he isn’t the clear #1 option for kick-ins and/or distribution from defence in the game against the suns on friday maybe find a new plan.
Had a look at break evens and a few of the premiums may drop in price over the first few rounds.
E.g. A lot of mid priced defs could have breakout seasons go up in price and then be traded to the premiums we all know. So don’t laugh at my backline.
Rookies subject to notice.

Any comments, thoughts, or areas that could be improved would be appreciated.
DEF: Sheezel, Holmes, McKercher, Perryman, Travaglia, Allan (Reid, Leake)
Comments: I think Sheezel is an absolute lock. I really like Holmes last year, and think that he will only get better this year. For McKercher and Perryman – I think that there’s value there and both can increase in value to upgrade if they don’t end up being keepers – originally had Mills, and may look at him when he returns. Rookies are obviously subject to change.
MID: Bont, Serong, Merrett, Oliver, O’Sullivan, Tsatas, Draper, Ashcroft (Langford, Knevitt, Erasmus)
Comments: I did have Butters until the recent news. I am on the fence with Oliver, but given the large ownership makes the decision a bit easier. Rookies are plenty here, and disappointed to hear the news about Smith, and hope that the recovery goes well for him.
RUCK: Xerri, Meek (Boyd)
Comments: Xerri is a beast, and think he will top the rucks this year. I think Meek can be a Xerri 2.0.
FWD: JHF, Macrae, Smith, Daniel, Lynch, SPP (Kako, Hewett)
Comments: Absolute mid price galore through here. I have been tossing up between starting JHF and Rankine, but landed on JHF who I think has more upside, but both will be top 6 forwards.
FLEX: Flynn
Comments: If he gets sole ruck, there’s value. But that’s a big if.
ITB: 6.8k
Wish there was more left over, but not unhappy to have fit in what I have.
Thank GD. I’m also thinking that I probably don’t need McKercher either given a potential role shift to wing/half forward. Will have a look at what I can get for those Flynn and McKercher. Currently thinking Day (flex), Roberts, Rivers, Sanders (flex), etc.
Just want to write my ”minimal rookies” effort down somewhere. Like everyone, I’ve been pretty locked into lots of mid pricers in the forwards but the defensive rookies just keep looking worse so I’m considering 5 non rookies down there too. It leaves the middle a little bare but I think I trust those rookies on field more
Def: Sheezel, NWM, Stewart, Roberts, SDK, B Allan (Z Reid, J Leake)
Mid: Bont, Steele, Dawson, Clarry, NOD, Tsatas, Langford, Sheldrick (Knevitt, Erasmus, Hall)
Ruc: Xerri, English (Boyd)
Fwd: JHF, Macrae, Sanders, Daniel, Garcia, Kako (Hewett, Davidson)
Flex: Reidy
Yeah, I’m a bit torn there. I had him over Perryman as I could do the swap in my comment below to get Peatling but I think if I just stick with these rookies, then I can have Perryman at D5 which feels better
Depends if Erasmus is on field and/or if Langford is on the field also or on the bench.
e.g if its NOD on field and Langers on the Bench vs Peatling on field and Erasmus on the bench then I’d go Peatling and Erasmus (if he plays or a $119k player).
I get you need advertising to keep the site running, but constant pops up is f$&cking next level.
If you are that desperate for money, put on a fund raising drive from loyal SC’s.
It shit me to tears, having these constant pop ups and they appear everywhere. Let me read my stuff without being bombed and falling into the brain numbing majority – oh, they will just get used to it. STOP IT. SCTalk is unique. Keep it that way, it’s a chatting forum first and foremost. If you want to sell cause you see a dollar, not for me anymore. Someone else will fill the void. It’s not quite go woke, go broke, but you are now on the edge men, as they say up north, f$&cking the dog! Think about it. Really boys?
Why don’t you get your marketing geniuses to produce the ultimate AI SCTALK team, it will win on stats, go you, take the $50k and your advertising $$$, you just took all the fun out of it.
An Old School (or old skool) rant it was – showing my age – Gen X. We grew up tough, we work hard, we live hard and don’t put up with shite. We are book ended by entitled and whinging generations.
I love SCTalk, been appreciative of it for over 10 years now and provided some feedback – zero offence intended. The ads exist – I have taken some advice from some more of our constructive respondents.
I can adapt but I won’t conform. Pretty simple mate.
Gday all.
Hoping to get some feedback on my team.
DEF Sheezel, Holmes, Sicily, W Milera, Travaglia, Allan (El-Hawli, Reid)
MIDS Bont, Daicos, Bradshaw, Dawson, Day, Oliver, Tsatas, Hustwaite (Robertson, Hall, Henderson) Dawson is an unsure for me, I’m tossing up the idea of Rozee.
RUCKS Gawn, Xerri (Boyd)
FWD Macrae, Smith, Daniel, Garcia, Lynch, Martin. (Kako, Edwards)
Light on in fwd line but not keen on the premium options.
El-Hawli, Husthwaite, Robertson, Henderson and Edwards are all pretty unrealistic. Just select one of those for your loop. Milera is sucking me in again as well (Crows being ultra careful with him). Its him or Prior for me.
Midfield looks awesome! Not sold on Lynch, think the premo options of JHF, Rankine, Dyl Moore are all decent shouts if you can find a way to swap Lynch for one of them.
Two surprises in the Hawks vs Bullies game to watch are Luke Cleary and Will McCabe for Defence. Both doubtful R1 but still worth a watch for that last bench spot (Cleary is a bit $$exy).
Things I like: Mids are obviously stacked, solo rucks in Xerri/Nank should see good scoring potential, higher priced rookie options leave room to move should cheaper/better options come available.
Things I don’t like: Defence rookies. Would love to have only two or even one on field but not much to be done about that until opening round/rd1 teams are announced. Peatling as flex hurts me a little bit but I figure if he can average 90ish and I drop a rookie score each week it’s a win, should make enough for an upgrade to be fairly simple however I would prefer a premo or a high priced mid priced (I.e. Will Day, Will Ashcroft … maybe it’s a Will thing)
As always, thumbs and thoughts will be taken into consideration. Cheers!
I still have Travaglia at D4 Wabbits but the lack of rookies in the def line is causing concern.
Ideally he’d be at D5.
Really happy with all of my other lines so don’t want to change them but might have to if we get to Rd1 and the cupboard is bare.
I haven’t seen too many teams with Oliver as high as M3 but with all the recent doubts on the premos (Bont, Butters, Naicos – early bye), it might be the way to go. Soligo looked handy in the practice game.
Hey GD, Chillo & CT any chance we could fire up a dedicated TU/TD thread. It’s getting to to that time of year where people have structures close to set and just need to have an ‘X vs Y’ to help finalise teams..
I’ve just Noticed there are quiet a few people putting them in here and may get lost between all the teams being posted. Cheers
Most teams have The Bont which is fair enough considering his history. What’s everyone’s thoughts on not having him in their initial sides? I’m thinking of swapping him out for Merrett. I cash an extra $60 which I can use elsewhere.
T/U – Interesting idea – do it
T/D – No way The Bont is vital
This teams spends my entire salary cap and I might start with something very similar depending on how I feel about Bont. Brayshaw and peatling would go if
Boy are our sides changing at a rapid rate, 2nd side posted for the year and many changes since the 1st
D – NWM, Sicily, Stewart, Short, Perryman, Allan (Reid, Paton)
M – Bont, Naicos, Serong, Oliver, Tsatsas, L Ashcroft, Knevitt, Erasmus (Hustwaite, El-Hawli, Hall)
R – Xerri, De Koning (Boyd)
F – JHF, Rankine, Macrae, Daniel, Hutchinson, Davidson (Kako, Stone)
Flex – Hewett
If any other decent Defensive rookie options appear I will trim back to 4 semi premo’s, Rankine to Parker then and add Dawson back into mids pushing Oliver to M5. The best under $200k scoring and cash raising options seem to be in the midfield currently though, so happy to drop one there to hopefully feast on them should the status quo remain !
Here is my team, its ok.. i feel like there’s a big crop of mid-pricers who can break-out this year, so a couple of risky selections to debate. Its not cookie-cutter…

Tdk.
Bye friendly.
Mid rookies, deep defence, deep fwd and flex make up for no mid power. Tdk removes worst rookie mid.
Descent 18 scorers for byes.
Watch on Maric. Upgrade defenders during the byes after mids are finished.
3/4 lines strong with one really weak- mids. We all have to have a weakness- if cash gen and great scores from rookie mids happen- you’re primed.
Personally I’d sneak another mid gun or 2 in
It was freijah and Sanders(to either daicos or neale and cheap rookie). But the defence and fwd rookies are putrid.
Mid premium 110 + bad rookie 40-50
Vs Sanders and freijah 160-180.
Is the thought.
There are a few super value premiums in the midfield you could be looking at, like Rozee and Dawson for about same price as Rankine and $50k cheaper than Zorko.
With all the mid getting injured. Is it possible to have 2 premo mids, then Oliver and ashcroft with 4 rookies on field.
Then have xerri and tdk as rucks
Max gawn as flex?
Guys I think we need a new thread, maybe call it ‘must have’ or ‘you must be cooked if you don’t include him’..
The top players in the comp are obvious but what I’m looking for is the one that slips under the radar, the one or two players that linger in the back of the mind but for some reason you still haven’t included him.
I’ll kick it off with this example. I’ve heard a lot of doubt about this little future champ but believe me he’s the real deal. He might not get the CBA minutes he would get elsewhere but he’s that good he’ll leave the selection committee no alternative.
Levi Ashcroft $185.5k
On ground approx 66% game time vs Crows (fanfooty stats)
11 k’s 12 hb’s, 2 marks, 2 tackles 339m gained, 6 cont poss, + score involvements.
SC points 80
Given RUCs and MIDs tend to be the highest scorers, it won’t matter until your M8 premo is in place. At which point you decide whether you want your M9 or an R3 there. Before then a rookie or a value player with a good ceiling that will give you cash gen would be a good option.
I think it depends on whether you playing for overall rank or league premierships. If playing for rank then use it to minimise number of onfield rookie scores, particularly during the early bye rounds. If long term plan is league premierships then it is opportunity to grab an extra rookie for cash gen. That’s just how I look at it.
Playing around with a different structure that takes into account pre season injuries, avoiding early byes, and trying 3 playing rucks at the expenses of a premo defender.
Happy to cop Daicos’ early bye as I think he’s a must start considering Bont’s injury and clouds around Butters.
Thinking that at this stage, 3 premo rucks will eventually score bigger than an extra premo defender (or forward).
Just curious to know your thoughts on this approach.
Best of luck for the start of the season to you all!
Mass
With Esava and Zerk-Thatcher to come in I would think his first out, screams trap IMO, however, I think I might be more keen Bergman if he is playing the Houston role.
Fortune might favour the brave. Risk is if he gets injured then there are no similar priced replacement options. Might be better as flex instead of R2.
I’m back and with a brand new and rejuvenated team. Currently pending a few rookies so guys like Allan, Erasmus and Hall could easily make way for a Reidy. Would love to try and get FOS in but not sure if it’ll be possible.
Hey everyone. This is the first mock up that I’ve done. I would really appreciate any advice about any missed rookies and my setup.

Don’t stress! A very good side.
I spotted Daicos rubbing his groin a couple of times and stretching it out (coincidentally sounding bad). Hopefully nothing. He did kick a goal from 50 straight after
First Mock up of the year

Not much left in the bank here and very different to my traditional teams to start with, There will be plenty of changes
Interested in seeing freijahs role with dale in the side this week because after essendon practice match i was certainly intrigued
Sucks for Jagga, heartbreaking for a kid about to start his AFL career. Hopefully he comes back stronger and ready to roll!

Your feedback would be great fully accepted. Love this site….kudos to all the ops.

Going thin in defence because I think the top 10 back there is wide open with plenty of scope for 100k price drops. Ryan, Flanders, Sinclair etc.
Sheezel, Holmes, Short, Mills, Allen, Reid (Whitlock, Busslinger)

Traditionally gone pure GNR and started slow. This year I’m going to ride Cerra types and see if I can have a hot start before trading my way to a best 23. All thoughts appreciated
What’s everyones thoughts on running English over Gawn?
Big no from me. That abdominal injury the other day, his concussion profile and a major regression in 2024.
I’m probably very biased against him but think it’s either pay up for the big fellas or TDK, Jackson and Meek are all serviceable.
If you like him you like him, Mick.
A 20 point regression is just huge and like I said I think the Dogs struggle early.
In full flight, he contends for not just R1 but P1. 1:1 disposals to HOs.
I’ve been trying to working out if the regression was caused by Darcy or the changing ruck rules. No Jamarra means Darcy is forced to play forward.
I could yet fade him but he’s R2 for me atm.
He’s in my side atm Big C. Maybe its because he didn’t burn me last year but to still average 108 in a down year has my attention. I just needed to see him play in both praccys to be on him.

Yeah. I’ve been scared off our boy Richards, Mav.
Also think the Dogs get railed early.
Banging side all up though, gl.
I don’t mind Rozee. Good fixture.
Just wonder what the CBAs look like. Boak and Wines ageing, JHF on the up, Drew injured short term.
I think There isn’t much between Rozee and Butters when they are both fit and both in the guts.
Rozee for $110k less seems a bargain to me
Scared off Richards? Why.? Having an answer is one thing, having a response is another.
Richards went for scans for a possible calf tear the other day. The club says it come back clear but still enough to scare most off an already risky pick at an awkward price.
Similar to Mills and the planta fasciatis.
“Western Bulldogs: Ed Richards Went for scans, but scans were clear. Just tightness. Will have a light couple of weeks, expected for Rd 1”
All feedback wanted and welcome!! Thank you!!!
I agree that the lack of defensive rookies is a problem and will shape teams this year. I also have Mills at D5, Allen only rookie on field.
Have you thought about Short instead of Perryman, to avoid the early bye?
Definitely thought about Short but has burnt me in the past so wanting to see a solid pre-season game this week, have heard he’s the main distributor out of that Richmond defence.
Trent Rivers is another one I’m considering after seeing his role in match simulations and training. Just conscious that Viney and Petracca aren’t back yet.
Plenty to think about for that D4 spot!
Didn’t Lynch have an issue just a couple of weeks back?

Flanders a watch. 15 potential keepers (4 – Macrae, Smith, Parker, Daniel all worth a risk in the usual shallow forward options)

Heavy in DEF as I see more value and options up fwd.

Not running with Bailey Smith which could be disastrous, but fingers crossed.
i might be with you on Garcia replacing Smith
Is that Ed Richards? Looks like he is injured and going to miss a bit of footy!
Ed richards is fine. Was sent for scans for calf tightness but scans came back all clear.
Oh I missed that! Ignore me then

Hey guys,
This is my team currently. Have 32k left in the bank, had to make some changes following the injury news to Jagga Smith and Travaglia’s role being worse than expected.
DEF: Sheezel, NWM, Rivers, Mills, O’Sullivan, Allan
MID: Butters, Serong, N. Anderson, Oliver, Peatling, Tsatas, L. Ashcroft, Langford
RUCK: Xerri, TDK (Boyd as R3)
FWD: JHF, Rankine, B. Smith, Daniel, Lynch, Kako
FLEX: H. Garcia
Still not entirely sold on TDK’s role so may switch him for Cameron or Meek. Also looking at bringing in Dawson for Anderson depending on role.
news in – pittonet is injured, TDK now sole ruck
Gidday GBags,
I would play McCrae in place of Rankine
another day, another iteration
DEF: Flanders, Sicily, Saad, Short, Travaglia, Bo Allan (El-Hawli, Bice)

Looking out for Rioli as the 3rd dashing indigenous halfback – although may not see him until Round 0. Blues just signed 2 small forwards so watching Motlop for midfield rotations/higher up the ground role. Looks super fit. Also like Jed Walter at F5.
I swear this team changes daily and I would loving more that an extra couple of million in the bank….

There is a problem just around the corner with our defence rookies. Not sure any of yours will be playing round 1.
I think Reid and Allan are locked in, but the rest are slowing falling by the sides.
Add to that how many of the value picks have an early bye, and the defence line becomes where our teams start this year
I think Mills will be ok, I’d be putting him back in
O’Sullivan might be an option and noted Jaxon Prior is picked at half back for Essendon. Both a bit more expensive but O’Sullivan has been talked up pre season as a good chance.
But yes seems Travaglia and Leake are unlikely. Reid has good JS but will be a slow burn, definitely D8
Buss and Allan will play and be fiedlable.
Reid is B22 but strictly bench.
El-Hawli couldn’t get a spin in a practice match so he’s a no. Bice also won’t play.
Trainor and Leake are far cries.
Travaglia probs plays but been off a wing not HB. Don’t love that for 170k unless he’s a mercurial, out of the gates Darcy Wilson type.
Harry gives some good shouts.
Reckon it’s got to be 4 + 2 down back.
I had Reid last year and he lasted close to a half against Hawthorn. But notwithstanding his injury, think he was on all of 15 points!!! I’d rather not have him at all but at this stage there doesn’t seem much choice.
Same lmao. Ruined my weekend.
Was still salty by Monday.
might even be 5 + 1
my last team was:
DEF: NWM, Holmes, Sicily, Short, Mills, Travaglia (Reid, Allan)
With the best 18 rounds early on I’m happy to start 3-3 and see how things are panning out come rd 5. Should have a clear picture of what def rookies are needed by then and if there isn’t any that will be the time to make some corrective moves.
DEF: H. Sheezel, L. Ryan, L. Whitfield, SDK, C. O’Sullivan, Z. Reid (B. Allan, J. Leake)

How many weeks do you think Darcy misses? If he misses 6 Reidy looks a good shout but if he’s only missing 3-4 might not be worth it.
Is Erasmus going to miss out again? I read Murphy Reid is looking more likely
looking at the draw, Fremantle start with Cats away (nice for Reidy) and then have 3 home games in a row (Swans, West Coast and Dogs – pretty good for Reidy).
they then have two games in Melbourne. Will they fly Darcy across Australia? or wait until round 7 back in Perth?
They’ve currently flown him halfway around the world to no avail……
If all things being equal then Reidy will play the first 6 rounds, at least. They won’t risk Darcy and there’s talk Freo will play him at Peel first before he comes into the side. Murphy played with the ‘A’ team in the recent match sim and talk is he has impressed the coaches – we got him for a steal in the draft, given he was touted to be top five prospect. Unfortunately it looks like Erasmus, Brodie and even Johnson have dropped down the pecking order. Looks like NOD and JOM will share wing/inside mid roles.
They can’t seriously be thinking about running Reidy? Jesus.
I mean, I think Jackson’s a goon but why buy him if you’re not gonna let him cook when Darcy is unavailable.
Don’t buy into any FWD structure argument either. Jackson’s a terrible F50 target and overhead mark. Very much an in and about player, if anything.
Line through him at R2/F3 if Freo are dumb enough to give Reidy a spin.
Ugh.
Are you sure GD?.. You didn’t sound very convincing LOL
ATM I’m holding Jackson as my Flexi until SDK gets DPP…..

I think its more his R3 bye. Definitely an upgrade target.
I find it hard to pick any of Neale, Daicos, Gulden or Heeney given their bye and probably having multiple outs in the rookie/value picks from those 4 teams.
That said, one bad game from any of them they become an early upgrade target.
B: Sheezel, Rioli, Short, Mills, Woewodin, Allan; Reid, Leake
M: Bont, Brayshaw, Rozee, Oliver, Peatling, NOD, Tsatas, Langford; Draper, Ashcroft, Knevitt

Lions have a strong midfield. Where will Levi Ashcroft fit in? I am married that he will be the sub. What do others think?
TU – on field
TD – sub
We get a look in Rd0, so this should help. In my team at the moment and pretty easy to move out given his price. I personally think he’ll be worth it, maybe sub affected early but assuming he plays well he should stay in and make enough money.
The 160-200k range in midfield feels too big at the moment, some will have to miss out.
I have no idea which 5 I will end up with but it currently sits at 6. I want some 120k options to present.
a couple of $120k saints mids killed it against blues for 4 quarters. one of them used a ‘don’t argue’ on Cripps to win a centre clearance
Unsure about this one. Thanks.
TU – W Day and W Ashcroft
TD – Serong and Peatling
Mills out until at least round 4. Damn another team restructure!
a week ago i thought i had too many early bye players. don’t seem to have that problem anymore
I think it’s at the point now where 5 premos down back is compulsory.
Think I’m going to take Mills up to Holmes and drop a midpricer down to a rookie to fund it.
Parker, Sanders, Macrae and B.Smith are in the firing line.
Try not to focus too much on match sims
It’s a glorified training run for most players
Had a look at break evens and a few of the premiums may drop in price over the first few rounds.
E.g. A lot of mid priced defs could have breakout seasons go up in price and then be traded to the premiums we all know. So don’t laugh at my backline.
Rookies subject to notice.

Yeah, with the news on Mills, Perryman is definitely an option. Up until today, I wasn’t sure how I was going to get him into my team.
Mills to Perryman. Same bye
TU Daicos
TD Serong
What do we think would be the better combination.
T/U Freijah d5 + J Berry f5
T/D Sanders f4 + J Prior d5
Butters is now out for a few weeks……
Butters out for possibly a few weeks, swap or keep. My original team from two weeks ago is getting smashed with preseason injuries, how is your team going.
T/D Keep Butters
T/U Swap Butters
Draft #356
TU from me, Sam. Very good.
You won’t need Flynnt though. It’s either BJ solo or them chopping as of rn. He didn’t make the spot his over the summer.
Flex: Reidy
Like the Stewart pick. He is back to his full back role with all the kick outs
Not sure about SDK. Seems like he will be sharing ruck with Blic, plus I don’t know if he is very good.
Yeah, I’m a bit torn there. I had him over Perryman as I could do the swap in my comment below to get Peatling but I think if I just stick with these rookies, then I can have Perryman at D5 which feels better
TU: NOD, Langford + $100k
TD: Peatling and Erasmus
Depends if Erasmus is on field and/or if Langford is on the field also or on the bench.
e.g if its NOD on field and Langers on the Bench vs Peatling on field and Erasmus on the bench then I’d go Peatling and Erasmus (if he plays or a $119k player).
If all players are on field then NOD and Langers.
DEF
Sheezel, Ryan, WNM, Holmes, Short, Allan (Reid, Leake).
MID
Merrett, Brayshaw, Oliver, Peatling, NOD, Tsatas, Langford, Knevitt (Hewett, Angove, Urquhart).
RUC
Xerri, TDK (Boyd)
FWD
JHF, Rankine, Macrae, Lynch, Kako, Davidson (Curtin, Erasmus)
FLEX
Daniel
Pros: only one defence rookie on field after the defence rookie bloodbath of 2024
Cons: can definitely feel it in the mid/fwd lines.
For D2
TU – Martin
TD – Clark
Have a few TU/TD
TU: FOS
TD: Lashcroft
TU: Stewart (or another premo def) + anderson
TD: Perryman + Diacos
Is Brayshaw at M2, Anderson at M3 too light?
I don’t think so, depends on other lines of course
What do we reckon of this team? I’m loving the DEF premiums but not rookies, and FWD rookies but not premiums, so going pretty heavy down back.
DEF – Sheezel, Houston, Stewart, Short, Wayne Milera, Z Reid ( Prior, Allan)
MID – N Daicos, Serong, Dawson, Day, Oliver, Tsatas, L Ashcroft, Langford (Knevitt, Kako, Angove)
RUC – Xerri, De Koning (Reidy)
FWD – Macrae, B Smith, Daniel, Hobbs, SPP, Hewett (Berr, Davidson)
Flex – O’Driscolll
Yep. Great.
Hobbs pick comes down to a) how much stock you put into one pre-season game and b) the longevity of his OB role.
Excellent side.
Thanks mate. I think Hobbs is a very good player and will break into the side, at only 262k he might not need an OB roll to average 70+
SC Talk Dudes,
I get you need advertising to keep the site running, but constant pops up is f$&cking next level.
Wowser….that is what you call an old-school rant.
As you said T-Rex, go fill your void somewhere else. Business is business and ads are ads. Get over it.
Wanker.
Cheers Mick,
An Old School (or old skool) rant it was – showing my age – Gen X.
Pretty simple mate.
dude get an ad blocker. I use firefox for this site because the ads don’t get through. on chrome they drive me nuts
I must have a very good add-blocker….never see adds.
Ads?!
What ads?
Didn’t know there were any.
Nor me. Running google chrome on an iPad. No ads.
Thanks for the feedback gents.
I simply access this site through safari on my iphone, no other hardware. Looks like I need to get myself a blocker.
TU: Short
TD: Rozer
Who is Rozer?
Rozee? They may have a mid/def dpp to switch with?
Turned my head to the v/c loop for R2. Ndaicos, Bont. Xerri all play at 7.30 Sat night !!!!
xerri doesnt
Means round 1 which is round 2
Thanks
El-Hawli, Husthwaite, Robertson, Henderson and Edwards are all pretty unrealistic. Just select one of those for your loop. Milera is sucking me in again as well (Crows being ultra careful with him). Its him or Prior for me.
fyi:
The Crows say Rachele and Milera have both been withdrawn “with an abundance of caution” and both are set to be fit for round one.
Midfield looks awesome! Not sold on Lynch, think the premo options of JHF, Rankine, Dyl Moore are all decent shouts if you can find a way to swap Lynch for one of them.
Lynch is $180k so think he can only be swapped with a rookie
Two surprises in the Hawks vs Bullies game to watch are Luke Cleary and Will McCabe for Defence. Both doubtful R1 but still worth a watch for that last bench spot (Cleary is a bit $$exy).
TU: Sicily and Short
TD: McKercher and Rioli
Cheers.
Hello friends, any feedback is most welcome 🙂
ITB: $39,900
DEF: Whitfield, Clark, Short, Travaglia, Allan, Leake (Reid, O’Connell)
MID: Bont, Naicos, Merrett, Dawson, Oliver, Tsatas, Ashcroft, Langford (Knevitt, Kako, Erasmus)
RUC: Xerri, Nank (Boyd)
FWD: JHF, Macrae, Baz, Daniel, Berry, Hewett (Hall, Davidson)
FLEX: Peatling
Cheers!
You could address the defence by turning Peatling into a rookie and moving Trevaglia up to a Perryman/Roberts/Freijah type?
D4 has a few interesting choices after Mills falling apart (again)
TU: Freijah
TD: Perryman
Or should I just do Travaglia at D4 and use the extra cash to turn Peatling into a premo?
I still have Travaglia at D4 Wabbits but the lack of rookies in the def line is causing concern.
Ideally he’d be at D5.
Really happy with all of my other lines so don’t want to change them but might have to if we get to Rd1 and the cupboard is bare.

Naturally, the rookies are placeholders until teams are named.
Cheers
Done, Mav.
Good thinking.
TU: Peatling & Day
TD: Serong & Lashcroft
Does Butters out for 6 weeks give Rozee a significant bump (10-15 point bump?)
Not at all. You want the midfield strong overall.
Hurts him and Port. Less clearances, less contested presence.
Currently have Rozee R4 but not jazzed that Butters is down.
Maybe shores up JHF’s CBAs if anything.
Wines gets the big bump
A bit of a different set up, but I’m liking it, what do we think?
Def Sheezel, Short, Robberts, Perrymam, Freijah, Allen, Patton, Reid
Mid Naicos, Steele, Dawson, Rozee, Oliver, Tsitas, Langford, Sheldrick, Ashcroft, Knevitt, Henderson
Ruck Gawn, Xerri, Boyd
Fwd Jhf, Macrea, Daniel, Garcia, Berry, Davidson, Kako, Hewett
Flex, Nod
Yep. I’m starting to think we can lighten up in the forward line too, Paul.
Merrett has R4 Bye….Bont’s first SC relevant bye is R12….yeah, the ugly one.
Hopefully Bont doesn’t get injured before season starts
This teams spends my entire salary cap and I might start with something very similar depending on how I feel about Bont. Brayshaw and peatling would go if
NWN-Holmes-Short
Perryman-Paton-O’Connell (Trainor-Reid)
NDaicos-Serong-Brayshaw-Rozee
Day-Oliver-Peatling-Tsatas (Hewett-LCamoreale-Boxhall)
Xerri-Jackson (Boyd)
JHF-Macrae-Daniel
Garcia-Erasmus-Davidson (hall-angove)
Flex: O’Driscoll
T/U: Dawson
T/D: Serong
Serong a proven performer, but just see signs that Dawson is going to rip it apart this season! Thoughts?
Any thoughts welcome !
Bont out for 6 weeks. We’ll have about 4 players left to choose from soon based on this injury rate
Bont and Butters out that will free up some cash for most teams. At this rate Oliver could start as M1
It’s bad and obviously I want these guys back but without the two most expensive midfielders, teams are going to look a bit different
A few teams might decide to carry both Bont and Butters as bench players through their injury.
DEF: Flanders, Sinclair, Newman, Dale, Mills, Coleman (Gibcus, Goater)
MID: Bont, Butters, Treloar, Gulden, Green, Wardlaw, Guthrie, Lalor (J.Smith, Smillie, Lombard)
RUC: Marshall, Grundy (Strachan)
FOR: Curnow, Wood, Weightman, Phillipou, McAdam, Tauru (George, J.Clarke)

Thoughts?
I think Lombard may be carrying an injury back around mid season apparently, but besides that looks OK

Close. Their topic is suspensions this year.
Here is my team, its ok.. i feel like there’s a big crop of mid-pricers who can break-out this year, so a couple of risky selections to debate. Its not cookie-cutter…

Looked really good. Only been in systems probably 3 years- but definitely looked ‘on’. Licence to travel everywhere- may have played wing to allow this- and definitely in scoring involvements.

Hey fellas time to kick off Rate My Team – March #1
Starting to see less teams with Bailey Smith in, what’s the reasoning?
Early bye, niggle or two and hair appointments
Coming back from an ACL and getting ‘rested’
Hey guys,
Here’s my team, any feedback welcomed!
DEF: Sheezel, NWM, Roberts, Perryman, Freijah, Allan (Reid, Leake)

With all the mid getting injured. Is it possible to have 2 premo mids, then Oliver and ashcroft with 4 rookies on field.
Then have xerri and tdk as rucks
Max gawn as flex?
I don’t mind the idea, it’s about considering if you are confident that TDK would outscore the likes of Anderson or dawson etc.
TU: TDK
TD: 550k around mid
SC points 80
p.s. big bro went alright too..
Feedback please

Who is the best option for Flex played?
Any science behind it?
Start of season doesn’t matter. Is just an extra player. Will become important as teams get upgraded, I’m thinking Ruck backup for the run home
Simple structure question regarding amount of premos
TU: deeper midfield (5 + 3)
TD: deeper backline (4 + 2 or 5 + 1)
Clarke, Holmes, Short, Perryman, Allan, Leake (Reid, Jepson)
Naicos, Brayshaw, Dawson, Rozee, Oliver, O’Driscoll, Tsatas Sheldrick (Knevitt, Kakao, Hall)
Xerri, TDK (Boyd)
JHF, Macrae, Smith, Parker, Daniel, Lynch (Berry, Hewett)
Flex; Reidy
Playing around with a different structure that takes into account pre season injuries, avoiding early byes, and trying 3 playing rucks at the expenses of a premo defender.
Happy to cop Daicos’ early bye as I think he’s a must start considering Bont’s injury and clouds around Butters.
Thinking that at this stage, 3 premo rucks will eventually score bigger than an extra premo defender (or forward).
Just curious to know your thoughts on this approach.
Best of luck for the start of the season to you all!

I like the way you set this out. Easy to read.
Finlayson $305k fwd. playing intercepting defender. Interesting
With Esava and Zerk-Thatcher to come in I would think his first out, screams trap IMO, however, I think I might be more keen Bergman if he is playing the Houston role.

Looks like Bo Allan is this year’s Relton. Don’t think I have seen a -12SC before. That may of even been worst than Relton.
How many teams will keep him after a -12 score. A few other defenders with a lot better score.

Anyone have the kahunas to start Flynn at R2 after his recent performance versus Xerri?
Compare his potential scoring to similar priced players like Garcia. I think he is good option. It’s just his back issues
