  1. Def – Houston, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Howes, Coffield (Gibcus, Reid)
Mid – Trac, Butters, Errol, Green, Miller, Martin, Sanders, Hustwaite (Roberts, Clark, Mannagh)
    Ruck – Gawn, Grundy, Naismith
Fwd – Heeney, Fisher, Fyfe, Jordon, Reid, Sexton (Wilson, Simpson)

Def – Happy w the combo of Houston, Sheezel, Young and Williams. Want to bring in Daicos after his bye. Idk about starting 2 rookies but it works structurally
Mids + Rucks – very happy
Fwd – Im thinking hold onto heeney until their bye and then drop him to someone else, maybe use that cash to get Daicos. Fisher, Sexton, Jordon, Reid all locks. Fyfe is obviously dangerous but ive already torn up my never again list with heeney and Williams. Could go Heeney up to jackson but i think they should both be great for about 6 weeks until both clubd get players back, Heeney is just cheaper

  2. Advice please

T/U – Rozee, Hustwaite and Jackson or
T/D – Miller, Fyfe and Flanders

Not worried about early bye – playing more for league

  3. For above – thinking T/D as it would be easier to do a one trade correction if needed for Fyfe than for Hustwaite?!!

    T/U Rozee, Hustwaite and Jackson
    T/D Miller, Fyfe and Flanders

  4. DEF: Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Gibcus, Pink (Z Reid, Coffield)
MID: Bont, Butters, Touk, Steele, N Martin, M Crouch, McKercher, Sanders (Roberts, Sharp, Clark)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Naismith)
FWD: L Jackson, Fisher, Jordon, Reid, Duursma, Windsor (Sexton, Wilson)
    $82,500 ITB.

Jackson in the forward line is mainly due to Darcy injury. Contemplating an upgrade to Houston in Defence with potentially too many rookies on field. Feels like I’m a premo short, but appreciate any input.

  5. Been agonising over my team! Any feedback or advice is much appreciated – thanks heaps.

  6. Thoughts on Bonner?
Went 108 and 140+ in pre season (yes it’s pre season I know) but his role was as good as it gets.. I see EnoFTTV and abs magic are quiet hot on him… and I’m warming!

I’m not sure Sinclair Is too much of a factor. Bonners trained all pre season in this role I think Sinclair goes into the midfield.

    1. Really good question… even if Sinclair does go to the HBF, Webster is out for a multiple week suspension so Bonner could have decent JS.

      2

      1. Yeah not worried about the JS think that’s solid more so the Scoring power and job role.. but I think they are both pretty good too

    2. At the start of last year, I thought Stocker was just a late depth pick-up. He played 22 games and was averaging 75 through to the byes after being priced at 216k (a $170k increase).

Its possible, Bonner is higher priced so needs to average 90s to get to a similar cash generation. Probably safer places to get a +40 average and $200k gain.

      2

      0
      1. Yeah I have Bonner averaging worst case 80-85 which is a 170k-200k profit.. if he can get to 450k I’d be happy enough to flip him too a premium around his bye.

Still alot think about. May depend what rookies put their hand up when teams drop this week.

    3. I don’t mind the pick but hate that he’s in the midfield. If he was defence already I’d expect him to be in more teams.
Just depends where he sits in your midfield – M6, M7? Too deep if he was M8.
Personally like the 3 rookies on field there already, don’t know how I’d feel if he was M5.

  7. DEF: Houston, Sheezel, Short, Young, Budarick, Gibcus (Howes, Reid)
MID: Bont, Daicos, Libba, Dawson, Green, Mckercher, Sanders, Hustwate (Roberts, Clarke, Wehr)
    RUCK: Gawn, Grundy (Naismith)
FWD: Fisher, Jordon, Reid, Lazzaro, Windsor, Sexton (Wilson, Cadman)

    1. Could switch hayden young to jackson by downgrading young to ethan phillips and wehr up to jackson (via wilson dpp)

      TD: Luke jackson

      1. I’d keep Young and do something with Budarick. Kind of a nothing pick. Either down to Williams or up to Wanga-Milera but I think you already have heaps of strength in the backs (remember when the DPPs get handed out, all the seagulls will be avail there). I also only think you need one of Lazz or Windsor, consider someone like dempsey if he is picked.

  9. I haven’t been able to keep up with all the SuperCoach tips this preseason. Can I get some feedback on my team:

DEF: Daicos – Young – Whitfield – Yeo – Williams – Curtin (Gibcus – Pink)
    MID: Bonts – Butters – Steele – Martin – M. Crouch – McKercher – Sanders – J. Sharp (M. Roberts – J. Clark – Mannagh)
    RUCK: English – Grundy (Barnett)
FWD: Heeney – Fisher – Fyfe – Jordon – Reid – Duusma (Wilson – Cadman)

    2

    0
    1. Curtin is unlikely to be in the R1 team, replace him with Howes.

Pink needs to become either Zach Reid or Nick Coffield.

      The rest look fine.

      4

      0
    2. As Owen Said, Curtin won’t play drop to Howes and Pink to go to either Reid or Coffield.

Are you picking Barnett to play or loop? if you want that price point there swap him for Naismith, otherwise drop him to Livingstone if you want the loop.
Duursma isn’t a great SC scorer and will be a very slow burn, there are other better – Windsor, Lazzaro, Sexton, Hustwaite (via Mannagh)

  10. Comments appreciated,

Def- Stewart, Sheezel, Hayden, Gibcus, Howes, Coffield (Reid, Shoenmaker)
Mid- Bontempelli, Laird, Serong, Butters, Newcombe, Mckercher, Sanders, Roberts (Mannagh, Sharp, Clarke)
    Ruck- Gawn, Grundy (Maley)

At his price he is very tempting if he can hold his spot.

  14. Alright so I think I’ve finally landed on a team! I would love some advice (be as critical as you like)

Def: daicos, sheezel, young, Williams, Howes, gibcus (Reid, coffield)

Mid: bont, butters, green, martin, wines, sanders, hustwaite, roberts (Clark, Wilson, mckercher)

    Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (Livingstone)

Fwd: Jackson, Heeney, Fisher, Fyfe, Jordon, Reid (Sexton, Cadman)

I’m sort of tossing up between having 4 premos at the back (adding a Stewart in) but I think with Darcy being out, Jackson is a lock and I’m pretty keen on Heeney (current role + first full preseason in years). Naismith is the other one I’m fading but as a Richmond fan I see him being in and out of the team, as Lynch and Nank make the team too tall.

    1. Plus Livingstone allows me to swing Jackson into the ruck to utilise my deep forward bench during the byes

  15. Getting nervous about starting all of Daicos, Houston, Sheez and young when I have nic Martin in my mids and planning on moving him to my defence mid season. Only leaves one spot for stewart, Ryan, Sicily, sinclair or who ever else makes the leap….

Yet all the “expert” teams on YT and twitter seem to be running a 4 deep defence with Martin in the guts… I’m starting to fade it

    Below is a TU/TD for my D2

    5

    1. I’ve had that same concern, but good on field defensive rookies seem few and far between unlike the other lines. Can always luxury trade later to the 1 or 2 top 6 defenders you are missing

      2

      1
      1. Defensive rookies are light, but the midfield isn’t all that spectacular either. There are a few expensive rookies that will make less cash, but not many cheap midfield rookies.

    2. Finally someone talking some sense re: Def. You have potentially Martin, Fisher, Sinclair and Sic Dog will come good once Haw injuries are sorted out….

      2

      0
    3. Yeah thats the reason why I keep trying to avoid Martin. If you play your cards right all season, he might be a good D7/M9 loophole at seasons end, but thats very luxury like.
If he becomes a must have, I don’t think he’ll price you out. Rather Young at 30k more.

  17. Alrighty., Something somewhere between cookie cutter and a POD team to get an early edge. Could come off or could bomb out but it’s what I am going with until Teams announcement. First time in a while where a GnR setup could work well, prob back to the first Suns and GWS inclusions where GnR’s was the only show in town.

DEF: Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Howes, Z Reid (Coffield, Phillips)
MID: Bont, Merrett, Libba, Dawson, Green, Touk, Sanders, Roberts (Clark. Sharp, Carroll)
    RUC: Jackson, Grundy (Livingstone)
FWD: Flanders, Fisher, Jordon, Reid, Sexton, Dempsey (Wilson, Cadman).

Light in Def as previously flagged but would of loved to have gone Gibcus in stiffen it up.

Tried to avoid R0 players but couldn’t go past Green and Touk. Went Libba over Butters due to injury concern. Remember Libba had a 20 in his 2023 season else we would of ave same as Petracca around 120. Prob same injury profile as Butters. Rozee an honorary mention. Think he will increase avg this year. Couldn’t fit Hustwaite either at $184k who I would of liked ( broke Father Dougalls golden rule of picking rookies first – oh well). Roberts or Hus on the bench a waste anyway).

Issues: R3 players, too many Suns and GWS. Yeah I hear you. Even in the Fwd line I have Flanders, Sexton and Cadman out. Thinking of Nyuon on the bench for at least one less? ( if picked on field on Teams release).

Anyway, after many, many hours I..am..done!…

    2

    1
    1. Did contemplate Wilson in Mids for Carroll to use the DPP but think will need him mostly Fwd anyway. Still thinking about that. Will see if Nyuon is named and where.

    2. Gotta go somewhat different to have a chance but I believe its that trades throughout the year that make you a winner. Although I’ve never won so what do I know LOL.

I do like the team, although I personally can’t go past Gawn.

In regards to R3 Bye, wouldn’t worry about missing rookies, more so premiums. Green, Touk and Flanders could hurt points wise.
Could have a DPP swing in the mids to try and maximise onfield rookies during byes.

      1. N.Daicos, Houston, Young
        Williams, Gibcus, Z.Reid
        (Howes, Coffield)

        Laird, Liberatore, Butters, Serong
N.Martin, McKercher, Sanders, Hustwaite (Roberts, Sharp, Clark)

        Gawn, Grundy (Livingstone)

        Jackson, Flanders, Fisher
        H.Reid, Lazzaro, Sexton
        (Windsor, Wilson)

        $43,800 in the bank.

Would love at least 100k in the bank and a DPP rookie on the bench in the mid, but besides that im quite happy.

Lets see what happens once the teams are released.

        Feedback welcome!

  19. Jordan Boyd 280k POD in defence
Scored 81 in the prelim vs Brisbane followed by 71 in preseason and now 87 in round 0. Has a role in defence as a distributor for Carlton. Takes the odd kick-in. Lethal kick. Would only need to average low to mid 70’s to work as a pick. Thoughts?

  21. Okay this might be close to what I’m happy with for Rd.1

DEF – Daicos, Stewart, Sheezel, Williams, Gibcus, Howes (Reid, Coffield)
MID – Bont, Merrett, Green, Newcombe, Miller, McKercher, Sanders, Hustwaite (Roberts, Clark, Sharp)
    RUC – Gawn, Grundy (Naismith)
FWD – Jackson, Flanders, Jordon, Reid, Windsor, Sexton (Wilson, Campbell)

    $70,600 spare

Yup, I’ve put Williams in. It was out of him and Fyfe to be my injury risk player. What it came down to was that Williams has more opportunity for scoring more consistently, especially now that Docherty is out for the year. Whereas Fyfe will be still contending with the likes of Serong, Brayshaw and Young. Took out Phillips for Coffield, because he’s been named and his JS is better at this point in time. Got Gibcus on field, because he’s a big one-percenter player and that gets heaps of points.

Still sticking with the same M1-M8 for previous reasons stated in the earlier RMTs. Bringing Williams in allowed to get Roberts on my bench. Still debated whether I should field him or Hustwaite.

Rucks haven’t changed, but I’d be lying if I haven’t considered a tad about upgrading Gawn to Marshall with the spare cash I’ve currently got

With Flanders proving himself against my Tigers, I had to bring him back in, and Fyfe was the one obviously to make way. Only other change from my previous entry is I brought Seth Campbell in for Mannagh. He looks to play a very effective half-forward flank role, and showed arguably the most fight out the Tigers side last Saturday. I’m confident he’ll keep his spot for a bit after his previous efforts

I don’t really know what my goal is with this team! I guess I just wanted to try something different. I don’t enjoy classic as much this days with the amount of player write ups and herald sun starter teams and stuff, which means a lot of classic teams are very same.

Figured I’d have some fun with it!
(I do feel like I need to put Bont in tho!)

  24. This one is real tough for me

    Tu: Serong m3
    Td: T Green m3

Green looks like he will be top 8 easily but he had 2 byes before Serong’s first so Serong should score more in first 12 weeks. Though if i dont start green i may struggle to get him in

  27. Hi everyone – advice please – currently have Fyfe midfield (Fwd link) and Lazzaro fwd bench – thinking that if Fyfe bombs easier to go to a bonner etc or lower as needed
Alternative is to have Hustwaite in midfield (instead of Lazzaro – Fyfe plays forward) only that would limit options for a Fyfe replacement to forwards if he bombs!! So…

T/U Hustwaite (Fyfe plays forward but less options available with no mid/fwd in midfield)

T/D Lazzaro (means mid/fwd link with more options?)

    5

    1
    1. I would say fyfe down forward and swap one of your mid bench rookies for someone like Mannagh, which lets you swap fyfe for bonner if he does bomb.

  29. Views on Duggan? Feels like he might get plenty of the ball in WC team low down but cant get worse right? Im also looking for where the points will go without Hurn.

Also personally his price point would allow me to go Xerri to Gawn.

    1

    1
    1. He is a top 6 AFL Fantasy defender, so maybe not far away from cleaning up his DE to become SC relevant. I was running Duggan and Wanganeen -Milera for much of the preseason. Decided I could really only carry one breakout contender, so I went for NWM.
Duggan’s role was talked about preseason as a half back rotating through the middle- in conjunction with Reid taking a similar role. Not sure if that is still the plan for Harley- he looked a little lost at HB, but comfortable in the middle. That might also change the plan for Duggan.
In an interview Duggan said he saw Brady Hough taking the Hurn role. At 350k, I must say I considered it. Hough might be that decent stepping stone, and a real POD, but we have so many good options, it feels unnecessary to take such a big risk, especially since it’s hard to correct at that price if it doesn’t work out.
In summary, whilst Duggan is a good option, I personally prefer NWM as a cheaper option. (With that cash, I took Gawn up to Marshall).

MID- Bont, Libba, Dawson, Green, Miller, McKercher, Sanders, Hustwaite (Roberts, Sharp, Clark)

    BANK : $77K

I have dropped back to a 3 premium defence as I intend on swinging NMartin back when able to so going 4 premiums meant I only have 1 remaining spot for Sic, stewart, Ryan, sinclair etc. Got me butters doing this also..
Still a bit unsure on if I want sheezel at D3 or young?

Heeneys role makes me nervous when Adams and Parker return, but he is absolutevalue for his role at this current point in time. Horse has said this week they’ll use heeney where ever he’s needed and that he’s still an AA half forward after all. This makes me nervous. I could drop heeney and out sheezel back in at D3 yet. Rookies being named Thursday night might dictate this a bit.

Love your thoughts on my team and structure.

    1. Will be rolling in the cash but light on points early Great for League win but not so good for overall.
Is that too much $$$ on the pine? Reckon you can cut both Lazz and Windsor out of there and upgrade Wines or Bonner – imo.

    2. Oh this is awkward. I copy and pasted this team from my earlier version changed premiums and forgot too update rookies!! I don’t have Windsor he is actually Clark now yes..

Yeah thanks for ya comment R you may be right.. in regards to upgrading Bonner for some reason I’m quiet bullish on him and I don’t know why haha I remove him and play hustwaite there but just keep going back to him… has the perfect role for SC. But if I need the 100-150k im happy to cull him.

    1. Def is a bit too vulnerable (even coming from me!). Get Schoenmakers up to at least Gibcus or Williams would be better. Naismith prob won’t play with Nank back so swap Maley or Livingstone for him.

As good as they are in a normal season, I wouldnt have Gulden, Green and Miller due to R0 players and the bye setup. Maybe just choose two of them at the most.

Check Teams for Rawlinson. But its a no from me if he is on the bench.

Bont or not to Bont is a good question but you haven’t got many go to Capt options besides Daicos and possibly Gawn?

Go with your gut on the other players as they are pretty much Ok, But anyway thats what I’d do.

    14

    1. Green will be a top 5 overall this year. I really like LDU and think he will be a top 12 mid, but Green is the way to go.

  37. Team iteration #452 – hopefully one of the last before tomorrow evening. I do think its quite light on in the forwards, but not sure there has been a premium that we can definitively hitch our cart to just yet. Rookies are subject to being named, but think I have options if any aren’t named.

DEF: Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Williams, Gibcus, Reid, Howes, Coffield

Daicos, Sheezel and Young have been there since day dot. Williams was one that I watched last week and was comfortable with his role and cash generation. Gibcus JS looks solid, and Howes has been brought in off the back of last week, but I do not expect similar scores moving forward.

MID: Dawson, Butters, Gulden, Green, Miller, Martin, Sanders, McKercher, Roberts, Clark, Sharp

I think Green will be one to have this year, and should be in more teams. Miller and Martin have value that can’t be ignored – I have been considering Newcombe for Miller, but last week convinced me that Miller is the way to go. Rookies are plentiful and have had to skip over a few that would have been picked in a year with fewer rookie options.

    RUCK: Gawn, Grundy, Naismith

Hopefully set and forget, and downgrade Naismith once he tops out or Nank returns.

FWD: Flanders, Fisher, Fyfe, Reid, Windsor, Sexton, Wilson, Mannagh

The line that is quite light on, I am quite tempted by Heeney but suspect that he will burn us all again if we bring him in – and given last weeks score will only be around for 1 price cycle, its tough to justify it off that alone.

  38. Outside of the planet coming off it’s axis and AFL footy not going ahead tomorrow night due to ‘force majeure’, I reckon this structure is what I’ll be running with into Rd1 (*pending rookie selection and premium injury).

I am sharing some tactical decisions below; really keen to hear thoughts from the community. Am I getting too cute?

    $17.1k ITB

D: Stewart, Sheezel, Short, Young, ZWill, Howes
    (Reid, Phillips)

Yes… I’m leaving out Daicos. It’s a tactical decision (that I’m not very comfortable with but have decided) to play the fixture and use either Short as a Premium-swap, or 1-Up/Down with ZWill and another rookie. I reckon the best way to actually try and win the damn thing is to take a different approach and wear the consequences. I can’t even imagine watching a Collingwood match until (if!) I own him. Coffield and/or Gibcus also under consideration for starting rookies.

M: Bont, Green, Steel, Martin, Wines, McKercher, Sanders, Roberts
    (Wilson, Carroll, Clark)

Green may be Premium-swapped for Dunkley or another mid-Premium that’s come outta the gates on fire at Rd3; but, at this stage I believe Green is a hold. Amon, Holmes, Bonner, Hustwaite, Sharp, Wehr all under consideration for M5-10 positions.

    R: Gawn, Grundy (Livingstone)

F: Jackson, Heeney, Fisher, Reid, Mead, Sexton
    (Dempsey, Cadman)

Jackson & Heeney will be kept at least through Rd6 (nb – Jackson to provide Ruck coverage for Gawn & Grundy; Heeney to be assessed whether the return of Adams & Parker has reduced his midfield role). At that point I’ll assess if either make way for Flanders or another forward that’s presented themself. Lazzaro, Windsor, and Mannagh still under consideration pending rookie selection.

Thanks for reading; constructive thoughts/musings/observations appreciated.

    starting Jackson R1 Grundy R2.

Let Jackson play without shrek for the month average 115 minimum (and hope its a slow return by shrek) this gives me a months data on who the top tier rucks are and hopefully even let English drop in price ideally… when the time comes swing Jackson forward and grab the ruckman of choice. Jackson imo averages 90+ with shrek in the team anyway and in a year of horrible forwards I’m fine with that. Shrek will miss more than this stint anyway there will be weeks they rest him or he gets re injured and ill have Jackson waiting.

I think gawn is still a decent play but he got badly found out against Grundy and looked sore.

    1. Adding on to above I do currently have flanders & heeney F1&2 as well. So eventually it’d be Flanders, heeney & Jackson F1-3 but have the bonus ruck cover.

    2. I’m doing exactly that … so much uncertainty around the rucks up to now.
And not having Jackson in the FWD line allows a lot more flexibility spreading the $$$

    1. G’day Hammer,
In my opinion I’d be looking to drop a fyfe or Jordan down to a lazzaro bank 90-100k and sharp up to roberts, he looks pretty close to a must have in that sydney team. Or else you can drop a premium in your midfield down and chase some value. Look at rowell, steele, Crouch or wines even.

      Your team looks good though.

  45. Howdy. Keen to get thoughts on the below. Current pain points for me are picking 2 of Steele, Wines & Miller (early bye scared me of Touk), and FOMO on Luke Jackson – don’t know how to fit him in though, I guess finding $200k and upgrading Fyfe:

Def: Daicos, Stewart, Sheezal, Young, Williams, Howes (Gibcus, Reid)

Mid: Bont, butters, LDU, Steele, Wines, McKercher, Sanders, Husthwaite (Carroll, Clarke, Roberts)

    1. Yes, and thats my exact plan. Heeney is the only red flag due to burn history. But can very easily be used as a short term cash generation with the extra trades.

    1. I like it – Liba is one that I want to see first before jumping on personally given the number of points having to be shared amongst the Dogs. Doesn’t look like anyone is missed, although Cadman would probably be preferred a Lazarro type.

DEF – Daicos, Sicily, Stewart, Williams, Howes, Phillips (Reid, Coffield)

MID – Bont, Petracca, Butters, Green, Sanders, Hustwaite, Roberts, Carroll (Wilson, Sharp, Clark)

    RUCK – English, Marshall (Naismith)

FWD – Macrae, Fisher, Reid, Fyfe, Harmes, Duursma (Sexton, Cadmen)

Think I am struggling with some DPP?

    0

    3
    1. Not sure Macrae is a great one to start with. Could go to Flanders or Heeney and use the cash elsewhere, maybe Harmes to Jordon. In terms of DPP, they will come with the first update, and most mids that will score heavily won’t necessarily have DPP, and those that do, we would want on the other line.

        1. You prob need to choose only one or two of Gulden, Green, Miller and prob either Flinders or Heeney. You would want to keep Daicos as a Capt option. Gulden to Serong maybe, Heeney to Fisher and restructure a bit or try and get Bont in for another Cap/VC option

          0

          0
          1. PS Those selecting Heeney as a short term cash grab and quick trade before his bye are barking mad! You will have a lot more fires to fight when the time comes to do that and you will end up keeping him. So you either think he is a keeper or not I reckon. I personally have passed on him due to past bad experiences. But maybe this is the year?

  53. What are people’s thoughts on Jase Burgoyne?

From what I’ve read it looks like he’s got a role change to the wing to fill the void left by Duursma. Not sure if he’s someone worth considering as a D6 or a bencher

    0

    0
    1. Hey we, for mine I think at his price he needs to be on field. Too much money for the D bench with what’s out there .When there players in the 123-102 k range it’s probably a pass for me…that said whenever I play with my lower defence structure he’s usually the one I’m putting in! Good luck for the season!

    2. Was on Burgoyne earlier last week and then heard a little snippet that he wasn’t training with the main group and then heard its prob Boak that will get that wing spot. All rumours but yeah went off him. Look for the teams I guess but be very weary if on the extended bench.
