Reserves Rookie Review – Round 3 2023

The SANFL started this week and the WAFL is starting next week to give us some more insight into which rookies are performing in the lower levels.

Reminder that the scores listed are Fantasy scores as they are the available scores. I have included all the rookie priced players that played so let me know if you feel like it is a bit much and I can just do who should be the relevant players.

McPherson and Keane both had good games down back with over 20 touches each and 8 marks. Borlase had a decent game taking 8 marks with 17 touches and Newchurch kicked 4 goals from 15 touches.

Sinn played well with 19 touches and 7 tackles as did Williams in what looks like a new role down back with 22 touches 6 marks and 11 rebounds. Evans had a decent game also with 13 touches and 9 tackles.

The Suns smashed the Cats in this game with some big scores from a lot of players. Moyle had 36 hitouts and 21 touches. McLaughlin kicked 6.3 from 20 touches with Burgess kicking 5 as well. Blakely had 30 touches and 8 marks with Constable and Uwland playing their first VFL games. Constable had 30 touches and 6 marks in a good game but may struggle to get ack in now.

Fahey dominated this one with 42 touches, 12 marks and 13 rebounds and surely is a chance to play AFL this week as is Fleeton who had 22 touches and 13 marks. Gruzewski kicked 4 goals from 9 marks and 15 touches and Cadman kicked 3 goals from 10 touches.

Wardlaw was among the best for North with 24 touches, 6 tackles and 6 clearances and could be an excellent option for us in a few weeks. Drury didn’t back up last week’s effort but still had 14 touches with Bonar doing his thing in the VFL with 8 marks from 17 touches.

Sheldrick was good again with 34 touches and 9 clearances as were Warner and Rankin with over 20 touches each as well as 8 marks and 5 tackles each. McAndrew has so far increased is scoring output this year with another good game with 35 hitouts and 12 touches.

    Should help give better insight for coaches, so they can look back over previous round stats since they know they have played multiple games.
