Team Reveal – JimmyDee

Written by JimmyDee on March 10 2020

Had the mainstay of the team for e few weeks now – don’t usually pick final team until after I’ve checked all the Marsh stats and see whether pre season gut feel is supported by the figures. I always take a punt on one player to boom, with varying success!!

Backline is potentially brittle but I’m backing Laird to lift and I had Dawson pegged from the end of last season. Lukosius is class and I don’t feel he’ll suffer second year blues. Roberton has been proven. However either could make way for a rookie come round one to suit team balance. Three D/M could be useful if all picked round 1.

In the Mids we’ve got 4 guns and a sub gun – backing Rory to lead the Crows valiantly and kick up to 110. (Swapped Treloar for Jelly following hammy news). Rowell looks a must at this early stage. Got the obligatory M/F bench to swing with any of the four forwards.

No explanation needed for the rucks. Had Gawn/Goldi last year and lived to regret the difference in the first half of the season. Hopefully not a mistake this year.

Hoping like crazy Dusty and Whitfield are set and forget and all that talk
of injury is not a mozz on our boy Lachie. In an earlier article on the site,
I tipped Brayshaw, Acres, Greenwood and McPherson to be breakouts, and
I feel they may still be after Marsh 1, but only have cojones to pick one (Brayshaw) at this stage. Hill will swing with Dawson or Jack down back, while Cameron is a chance to swing with R3 if needed.

Needless to say except for R3, any rookie not named round 1 will be unlikely to stay in the team. No cash left to speak of, had about 80k till I chucked Ash into the mix, so will require some creative thinking if some of the rooks are not named round 1.

It’s going to change, that’s inevitable, but have your say folks, eagerly looking forward to the feedback and advice.

  1. Are you concerned about Dawsons role after last night showed Lloyd will be the main ball user across half back?

  2. Am a little RAFA, especially when Dawson handed off to Lloyd a few times for the set up. TBH, worried about a few positions after Marsh 2.

  3. There has got to be a way to get the $34k to go from Sloane to Oliver! Oliver’s worst case is better than Sloane’s best case!

      1. Think Taylor’s a great option if selected. As I said to FD Rory’s probs gone to finance other moves yet to be determined. Thursday selection is bound to be the most chaotic in history!!

    1. Sloane dog was a gut feel at the stage I picked this Team FD, which was about 3 weeks ago. I had already decided to shelve that plan before Marsh 2 to finance the lack of rookie choices, or help finance the lack of other mid pricers I had in mind (Hill, Berg), who are now out of the running.

There will probably be many iterations in the next week, but whichever way it goes I doubt I’ll be 100% happy unless a bunch of good cows come into the mix next Thursday.

  4. Thanks or sharing. In a word: risky.

    Midfield: solid
    Ruck: solid

Def & Fwd: 3 fallen premiums, 3 breakout hopefuls and 3 rookies.

Hoping they all fire = big risk, and leaves your bench rather thin.

    1. Tipping I will only go with one of the three breakout candidates in the end, most likely Brayshaw.

Only see two fallen promos (Roberton & Smith) and I feel a fair bit of upside to both if they stay on the park.

Also, the way things are going, may not have any F/D rookies come round 1, unless the selection Gods come good. Cheers.

  5. JimmyDee loves a bit of risk, but one thing he didn’t tell us is this is actually the tech team and he is using it as his main 😉

      1. Quite a bit already has Macca !! That team’s a few weeks old. Already in and/out since are Hill, vdBerg, Lukosius, Sloane, Dawson, Rivers, McHenry and Hosie – small change you might say, lol
