    • The curveball here is whether Rozee will get DEF/MID status in the next round of DPP updates. He’s been spending a bit of time in the Port backline lately, does anyone have further info?

  3. Playing for overall (ranked top 1k), is it worth using a boost this week to bring in Petracca & another boost next week to bring in someone like a Sinclair? Will leave me with 1 boost remaining.

    Tu: 2 x boosts over the next 2 weeks = 2 premos

Td: Downgrade this week & bring in a premo next week, no boost required either week. = 1 premo

    • Why trade Meek now? He has Richmond this week (who Gawn just shat on), and his price is the highest it’s been all year while his breakeven is the lowest it’s been all year. If you’re playing for long game that’s definitely a hold.

    • I wouldn’t trade Soligo. Matt Crouch is out for next 5 weeks and I think that will give Soligo more time on ball. I do also think that this will really help Draper’s chance of a proper debut and could be a nice pick up in 2 weeks as his price has come down.

    • I think it’s mostly doubts over whether Petracca is really “back”. His scoring history is much better than Rankine’s (four straight seasons of 110+ is uber premium in anyone’s language), but last week was his first ton for the year and it was against Richmond. Is that enough to assume he will be a top six forward this year?

For what it’s worth, I started Rankine and am bringing in Petracca this week. My thinking is that Christian was basically in a car accident last year and it was always going to take a month or two for him to get his confidence back, even for someone as naturally self-confident as he is!

      • Totally get what you mean, GD. My only counter to that is I have enough funds in the bank rn where I can afford one of Bont/Butters without having to make a stupid trade (just a simple 1 up and 1 down). Kinda feels like I have to take advantage of that, this is what you make smart early moves for and get your cash cows to fatten up for – so you can get the uber premos without having to ruin your structure.

If I was making 3 trades just to get Bont in, yeah, doing too much. But 1 up and 1 down is the simple strategy that is the most sustainable way forward. Why not do it to get the best premo in the game? Food for thought.

  28. With risks attached to rookies on everyone’s radar, how about Peter Wright ? Be -20, going up $61k this week, one week ahead of Hustwaite, and same rise as OMac but with better job security. Has leaky Roos defence tonight in first of three consecutive games at Marvel where he kicks most of his goals.

In three weeks he should be over $500k and an easy trade to just about any fwd,

With an 85 tonight, which is fine OF, he only makes 40k and his BE is 75 next week and that’s all the money he’ll have made.

      Probably too expensive.

Purely a bet he smashes the Roos and kicks a bag.

Fixture also not an incentive outside of Tiges at the end of the month.

Gave it cursory glance myself but 370k just too awkward a price. 300k flat and it’s not even a question.

    • According to SC Gold, Wright’s BE is -11. He is projected to score 84 and would rise by $42K.

The problem is he needs to keep tonning up to keep making that cash. His scoring history suggests that is unlikely. There’s also the issue of his price tag, how do you facilitate the trade? If you’re upgrading from a cash cow, then you still need to find a downgrade from somewhere.

I don’t mind these sort of plays – they have worked in the past with guys like Tex and Jesse Hogan – but it’s high risk. Two trades just to make $50K at this time of year is not ideal.

  31. I posted this in the teams thread, and it would be great to get some further thoughts – as it seems that we are all scrambling for some downgrade targets this week 🙂

    Elijah Tsatas (Essendon) – $191,200 (price unchanged) – scores 50 & 78 (average = 64)

Break even = minus 25, MID

Tsatas was number 5 pick in the 2022 AFL draft – great ball winner & wins lots of contested footy & clearances, but disposal by foot sometimes ordinary.

Shiel out managed this week, Caldwell due back next week, and then Parish listed as 2 to 3 weeks – so job security could be an issue.

But Tsatas did play rounds 1 & 2 this year before injuring his hand.

If Tsatas is not the sub tonight, can we bring him into our sides as a downgrade option to make some cash due to his negative break even – rather than going for Oscar McDonald (likely to be dropped for Luke Jackson) or rather than going for either Hustwaite or Busslinger (who have only played 1 x game so far & could get dropped before making any cash)

Obviously it is a preference to bring in cash cows when they are named for their third games.

t/up Yep, bring him in for some cash – & as a high draft pick he is a decent chance of staying in the side

t/down No, he may go up say $35,000 in price this week, but he will probably get dropped next week

    • Or he could be the sub tonight Brett ? I had him at season’s start, sold him when he had the week off injured and would have brought him back in IF he was straight back into the side, but he wasn’t. Caldwell is back next week too so if he is not the sub, he will have to play well I think and not butcher the ball to stay in the side. I rate him (I am a Bombers man) and he will score 100 for sure at some point so long as 1) they play him and 2) they play him where he should be played – in and under mid, JS 50/50 I think

    • I have Dale also, been rubbish after big start. Think im going to hold to byes, he has played at MARS 11 times, average of 107 so hoping for good score this week. Like the trades tho, also handy if gives you Reid

      • Hey Mcflag every chance Dale will ton up once I trade him. Would normally hold but he’s not going to be a premo defender and trading him now suits my team now. Good luck

  49. Hey coaches,

I wasn’t going to trade but with Oliver out, I’m considering the following.

    TU: Davidson/Oliver to Hustwaite/Rozee
    TD: Not worth it

    Thanks!
    Julian

  50. Decisions:

    Stewart, Clarry, Maraes for:

TU: Neale, Zorko, Hustwaite (Leaves $126k)
TD: Bont, Zorko, Hustwaite (Leaves $8k)

Comment: Neale, Whitfield, Hustwaite (Leaves $44k)

I’m leaning towards the Lachie combo atm, as Zorko will drop some more, and Bont likely to drop below $681 at some point. But TU: leaves money for more moves next week…
